Comparing Apple Watch Series 9 Sizes

this video is brought to you by casify the Apple Watch series 9 comes in two sizes the 41 mm version and the 45mm version but the question is which size should you get well today I have both sizes to compare we're going to look at how each looks on my wrist as well as see how watchos differs on each model and finally talk about the pros and cons with each size to ultimately help you decide which watch is right for you but first I am doing a giveaway on this brand new iPhone 15 Pro and if you want a chance to win be sure to leave a like subscribe to the channel and comment your favorite feature of either the Apple watch or the iPhone 15 along with your Instagram username and then follow me on Instagram at the onone where I will announce the winner on the 31st of October so first I want to briefly talk to you about my spec uh and why I chose it as when you buy the Apple watch there's quite a lot of options to choose from uh and some that I definitely think are better than others and other specs that I would actually stay away from so the spec I chose for both siiz Apple watches and is also the one that I recommend for most people uh is the midnight aluminum watch case and then paired with the midnight Sports band now the reason for the color is that I think the midnight color is the most versatile uh I don't just mean that in terms of pairing it with other bands I think you can actually pair it both with lighter as well as darker bands or even different materials say leather uh stainless steel the midnight color will be most versatile uh but also in terms of occasions right where you decide to wear your Apple watch I think in a more formal setting the midnight color is a little more understated uh can even be paired with something like a suit and that's just harder to say for the brighter uh other colors that are available so if you're not sure uh which watch case color to get I would say go for the midnight it is this beautiful dark blue color uh that in dimly lit environments even here at home uh almost looks black so it's super seamless and understated now as for the band I went for the sports band and this is a great starter band because of that really comfortable rubber material uh you can wear it all day especially during a workout it's also super easy to clean can just slide it off the watch uh wash it with some dish soap and then be good to go uh and again I chose the same midnight color for that versatility of course also pairs well with the midnight watch and the reason I chose the sports band with the Buckle system as opposed to the sports band with the solo Loop is you don't have to worry about getting the perfect size when you first buy your watch uh this is of course super easy to adjust as you have multiple pin holes uh to choose from and for example during a workout if say your wrist swells up a bit you can size it up one and then during the day you can size it down one so just gives you versatility uh not just in the way it looks and how it wears but also in terms of size if you're not sure which uh recommend dat or which spec to go for my recommendation is to go for the midnight aluminum case for the watch uh and then the midnight Sports bat and this is regardless of which size you choose but now let's take a closer look at these two sizes and see how they compare so in terms of price the 41 mm version of the series 9 starts at $399 or 399 lb where the larger 45mm version comes in at4 $29 or £429 so this is a pretty small difference in terms of the price but I can tell you there's a big difference in how these two look and feel by the way I will leave all the purchase links to both models down in the description so before I show you the watches on wrist uh let's briefly compare them off the wrist and right away putting the two side by side you can see there's a pretty big difference in size where the 45mm version uh is actually 4 mm taller uh and 3 mm wider interestingly though the 45 mm version uh is not thicker compared to the 41 mm version and you also get the exact same size side button digital crown and also the speaker uh but still overall the difference in volume between the 41 mm version and the 45 mm version is not insignificant and this does mean that the 41 mm version feels and wears lighter on the wrist uh it is also easier to slide under the cuff if say you're wearing a suit or want to cover it say with your sweater now in terms of weights they are very similar so we have 32 G on the 41 mm version uh and 39 G on the 45 mm version and I can tell you that while these two feel different on the wrist and we'll talk more about that when I put them on next but in terms of weight you don't really feel it this is more in terms of the volume now before we compare how each of these watches uh looks on the wrist one of my favorite features of the Apple watch is how far you can go with customizing it to match your style or personality and a great way to do so is with the watch bands and cases from casify available for both the 41 mm version and the 45 mm version series 9 and this starts with the bounce band now this band is perfect for everyday wear uh it's made from a durable high performance fkm elastomer uh and as you can see uses a pin and Tuck closure for a very secure uh and clean look on the wrist along with that you can actually see looking closely at the band there is a geometric uh design and this is used for ventilation and it's what makes this band so comfortable uh to wear all day even say during long workouts I also like that it comes in a range of colors you see I even have a very bright orange option here this allows you to pair it with for example your outfit but I'd say my favorite here would have to be this classic black design and well the Orange is great for a workout and then to complement the bounce band and add protection to your Apple watch there is also the impact watch case now this case protects not just your Apple watch but also the display thanks to a raised uh metal bezel going all the way around and it even comes with a screen protector included and then for those that want to stand out a little bit uh there's the impact band now this comes in a range of colorful designs including this tailored look which I think is actually really unique and well it never hurts to have a measuring tape on hand or should I say on wrist and what is also neat is that the impact bands are made from recase Toy pallets which means they're actually made from recycled phone cases and finally for a formal evening out you're going to want the monolink band now this is made from brushed uh 316l stainless steel and this band truly transforms your Apple watch into a more sophistic icated time piece and is also available in multiple metal finishes and I've got to say my go-to has become this beautiful sleek black color to personalize your Apple watch be sure to click the links in the description and head to casetify.com Deon to get 15% off your order all right let's talk about how each size now wears on the wrist now for reference I have 155 mm or 6.1 in wrist in terms of the circumference uh so measuring around the wrist and this should put the uh sizes of the Apple watches and how they look into contact so let's go Ahad and put this on now I actually I'm going to put on the 41 mm version here on my right wrist as this is actually where I normally wear my watch and you can see that I have the digital Crown oriented uh around so that it's upside down and this makes it easier to access so if you are left-handed and wear your watch on the right wrist like me uh in the settings you are able to change the orientation and this means you can use the digital Crown without having to cover the display so that's why I wear it on my right wrist I know I've had some questions in the comments uh then here on my left wrist here I'm going to wear the 45 mm version bit difficult to do it's kind of like riding uh with your opposite hand so now with the watches on my wrist uh you can see that even in this angle from quite a distance there's a pretty big difference in how they wear and how they look in proportion to my wrist and I'll be sure to get some closeup shots uh to show you the difference uh more close up but looking at the width of the watch case itself the 45mm version is actually just about as wide as my wrist is with only a few Mill to spare where by comparison the 41 mm version looking at the lugs or the ends of the watch case there's around half a CM on both sides to spare so say a whole centimeter or so so you can see that it sits much more comfortably on the wrist and just doesn't take up nearly as much room as say the 45mm version uh additionally because the 45mm series 9 has a bigger watch case the band itself actually wears a little bit differently too looking from above you can see that the watch bag will stick out more on either ends of my wrist before then folding uh and tapering down where on the 41 mm version it sits more snug as it folds down more quickly uh and therefore looks more flush to the curvature of my wrist at the same time though uh one thing I was happy to see is that if you are worried about scratching your watch case uh putting down my arms on a table there isn't a substantial difference uh with the watch cases hitting the desk in fact if you put your arms down normally uh that won't happen it is only when you really rotate to the side or almost upside down that the watch cas does so in most cases here I would say your watch case will be fine as mentioned earlier when we spoke about the weight I said the weight difference isn't really noticeable and that is true especially on the wrist you don't really feel it what you do feel though is the difference in the overall volume and form factor where the larger width and also the height of the 41 mm version 45mm version I mean is noticeable when I'm moving my hands around so I'm going to reach for something grab something I just feel the presence of the watch more of the 45mm version compared to the 41 mm version which is just more unobtrusive and honestly barely noticeable also uh with longer sleeves the 41 mm version will be easier to tuck underneath or say slide under a cuff if you're wearing a suit uh so that's another thing to bear in mind at the end of the day what it really comes down to is personal preference I would say if your wrists are similar to mine in terms of size ultimately both sizes work but I do think one looks best and for me that is the 41 mm version I think it just looks more proportionate uh looks more elegant on the wrist more like a Time piece and less like a gadget or a computer but let me know in the comments which size do you prefer okay so the 41 mm version uh looks best and is most comfortable to wear but the question is does the 45mm version have any advantages well yes it does it of course has a larger display and this means with more pixels you can see more text and bigger text at a time and while this watch may not be the more comfortable one to wear it is the more comfortable one to use let's let's look at some apps and compare the two side by side so first looking at the watch face you can see that both sizes show the same amount of data but of course it is larger on the 45mm version thus maybe easier to retay At a Glance especially if you're looking at the smaller complications in the corner uh and then the home screen shows the same amount of apps but again you get bigger icons on the 45mm version and then within an app so here in the settings app you can see on the bottom that the general option is slightly more visible on the larger 45mm version where it's slightly cut off on the 41 mm version and you'll see this trend throughout so I'm scrolling through the settings I can see menus are just slightly bigger on the 45 mm version you also get more of them on screen at a time but I've got to say it is still all very readable and usable on the 41 mm version as well uh and then here in the App Store it's a similar story you get a bit more and a bit bigger of everything on the 45mm version but again the 41 mm version works really well too I think Apple's done an excellent job at optimizing watch OS to to run well here on both sizes where I think the difference is most noticeable is with text so say here in a message you can see that on the 45mm version text is bigger and you also see more of it and this is because the text bubble or the message bubble is actually going to be wider on the 45mm version showing more words per line on screen at a time and this also means less scrolling but compared to the 41 mm version now this effect is Amplified even further when we pull up the onscreen keyboard now this is something I don't use often on my Apple watch but comparing the two side by side the 45mm version is much nicer to use you get less Mis presses and it's ultimately faster to type on all in all watch OS on the 45mm version is just a little bit more comfortable to use uh and is also better if say you have seen difficulties now at this stage it's important to remember that both the 41 mm version as well as the 45mm version have the exact same features uh performance and functionality even the battery life is the same I mean yes the 41 45mm version does have a slightly bigger battery but since it also has a bigger display it also uses more battery uh so in the end this pretty much cancels out and both watches give me all day battery life so which size is best for who well the 41 mm version is even more comfortable to wear and I think looks more proportionate where the 45mm version is even more comfortable to interact with albeit with a slightly more bulky feel my advice if your wrist is anywhere like mine again 155 mm in circumference or around 6.1 in uh I would go for the 41 mm version It just fits and looks better I think on the wrist between the two plus it also saves you a little bit of cash and you make no compromise in the functionality or even say the battery life let me know if you have any questions at all as always I will leave all the purchase links for both Apple watches down in the description and if you are thinking of picking up an Apple Watch then be sure to also go to
