  • Cookies may not directly identify users but provide personalized web experiences.
  • Users can manage cookie preferences to control their privacy.

Types of Cookies

1. Strictly Necessary Cookies

  • Functionality: Essential for website functionality.
  • Characteristics:
    • Always active; cannot be turned off.
    • Set in response to user actions (e.g., setting preferences, logging in).
    • Blocking these cookies may impair website functionality.
    • Do not store Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

2. Performance Cookies

  • Functionality: Track visits and traffic for performance assessment.
  • Characteristics:
    • Help identify popular pages and user navigation patterns.
    • Data collected is aggregated and anonymous.
    • Disabling these cookies limits performance monitoring.

3. Functional Cookies

  • Functionality: Enhance website functionality and personalization.
  • Characteristics:
    • May be set by the website or third-party services.
    • Disabling may impact some site functionalities.

4. Marketing Cookies

  • Functionality: Set by advertising partners to profile user interests.
  • Characteristics:
    • Used for targeted advertising.
    • Do not store personal information but identify browser/device.
    • Disabling these results in less targeted ads.

User Rights

  • Users can request College Board to delete their PII.
