[Music] the blood vessels surrounding the brain can be dilated causing pressure on the brain this can cause a migraine this dilation also pulls blood away from the brain which decreases oxygen supply to the brain note the pale color of the brain when oxygen supply is decreased this is the serotonin receptor triptans bind to the serotonin receptor and activate them this will cause vasoconstriction with triptans bound to the receptor the blood vessels tighten and the pressure is relieved from the brain note the regained color tone of the brain with the blood vessels tighten blood is also shunted back to the brain to provide the needed amount of oxygen [Music]
