Global Business Failures Due to Software Issue

Every business around the world is failing right now. Literally, almost every single major piece of infrastructure is experiencing a blue screen of death right now. Which if you're unfamiliar, because you don't use PCs a lot or don't have Windows, the blue screen of death is what happens when your Windows machine experiences a critical error. Sometimes... These things are basically impossible to fix and almost every major company in the world right now is Experiencing this screen and I'm not exaggerating There's blue screens of death in the Amsterdam Airport the Los Angeles Airport the Atlanta Airport almost every airport.

Okay, like this is bad Okay, none of these airports get currently bored or do anything because all of their systems are offline. Remember a while ago when Southwest went offline and a bunch of people got grounded and all that stuff. This is like that, but way worse.

It really is just every single company around the world currently collectively failing because of one single company. And no, it's not Microsoft. Even though Microsoft had Xbox Live go down yesterday. Okay, it's not Microsoft.

So the software in question that's causing all these problems is called Crowdstrike. And Crowdstrike is a security software meant to protect companies. Mainly their data. They do a lot of.

of ransomware stuff and a lot of just security things in general. They look like a pretty legit company. Like I'm on their site right now. They have a demonstration of like what they protect, which is every layer of your computer.

And if you have a computer that's connected to the internet that operates airports or banks or hospitals or whatever, you would want software like this because this software is what protects you and your data. And as a company, it protects all your customers data, which is pretty important. And for the longest time, I had no idea this company existed.

Okay. And the fact that I didn't know this company existed, was it good thing? Cause it means. it was doing its job.

This is the kind of company you know about if you're in the industry, and I am not. But now that I know about it, I know that they didn't do their job very well because they bricked every single customer they've had! It got so bad that they were giving handwritten notes at airports to just start dealing with the backlog.

Imagine how bad the situation has to be where you give up and just start handwriting airport boarding passes. That's insane! Do you know how long that would take to do as the person writing out the boarding passes? Like honestly insane props for that because it's insane!

But since this issue happened overnight, we don't know a whole lot about what's down and what's currently, you know, being fixed or what's gonna get fixed. I do know a little bit about it, though. Also, if you're new here, please subscribe down below. I'm trying to hit 400k. Thank you.

So basically what caused this whole thing to happen was CrowdStrike updating overnight, and when it updated, it caused all of these Windows machines to go into a boot loop. And if you're unfamiliar of what a boot loop is, basically you turn on your computer, and it gets stuck in a loop of booting up and shutting down. And a boot loop is extremely annoying to fix. Now in this case, this CrowdStrike update messed something up on the kernel of... of the computer, which is like the deepest level you can go into a computer, and it's causing a boot loop.

And dealing with a boot loop is already annoying if it's your own single computer. Now imagine you have to deal with a boot loop for hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of computers that are operating your entire business and every second you waste is costing you millions of dollars. Yeah, it's really bad.

Now reportedly CrowdStrike has a fix for this, but since it's boot looping, it actually can't install the update because it can't get into Windows to automatically install the update. So all of these computers have to be manually res- and I mean all of them. Like guys, the card readers aren't working.

That is how badly this system was needed. And then also how important it was to not screw it up. Remember the whole Y2K thing? When everyone in like 1999 or whatever thought the world was gonna end because some integer thing with computers. And the whole idea was every computer would shut down on 2000. So like that kind of happened with this.

Like actually it is that bad. Almost every critical piece of infrastructure is currently experiencing a massive outage. It's a miracle I woke up and the world wasn't.

it on fire and i want to be super clear as well this was not a cyber attack at least that we know of i really don't think it was i really think it was just a bad update i think if it was a cyber attack they would have done more of the blue screen everything i think uh i think the internet would be down i'm gonna be honest now xbox going down like 12 hours before that might have been an attack on xbox because xbox also went down like two weeks ago and that's like a really weird thing to happen twice in a row i figured xbox would have fixed the problem if it was their end so it makes you feel like someone is not happy with xbox and is trying to sabotage them but that is unrelated to the crowd strike and the crowd strike ceo has issued apology he said they're deeply sorry uh and i'm sorry man uh your company might go out of business at this point because the whole reason to buy crowd strike is to protect yourself from this exact thing happening it's to protect you from getting ransomware or a virus that ruins your entire operation and having to do the same thing as trying to prevent is not a good feature now it also wouldn't surprise me if this is also a windows related issue like if microsoft had some role in this because this issue was not a thing on mac or linux only window and i'm not saying it's windows fault yet i'm sure if it's windows fault at all. Crowdstrike will let everyone know. I doubt Crowdstrike's gonna have this whole bad PR thing and not blame Microsoft if Microsoft was involved in some way.

But this thing is so bad, man. I keep finding more images of people doing insane things because this is down. In an Indian airport, they put up a whiteboard with the flights on it. Like, this is crazy. I am just so glad I didn't have a flight today because if I had a flight and I had to deal with this stuff, I would be, I'd be furious.

I would be so angry. But unfortunately, this seems to be a common trend with software and technology in general. Everything seemingly has gotten worse over- time for no reason at all. Like literally every single application and software I've ever used has just been worse ever since I've used it. Google Chrome is worse.

Google's worse. Premiere's worse. YouTube's worse. And they're all worse for generally the same reason. They're all bloated and out of date.

I don't know the solution to that, but like, I really just wish my software would work as it's supposed to, especially Premiere, dude. I pay you and your software still sucks, Adobe. I really hope the FTC puts you in the ground, man. Okay. But yeah, software and hardware over time has just gotten worse.

Motherboards are unreliable as hell now. So The software is horribly unreliable. Triple A games are also a buggy mess all the time. Everything tech related seemingly has just fallen off a cliff in terms of quality, which sucks.

I wish stuff was good again, especially since all of my life I was told technology makes things easier. Okay, why do all these people suck at their jobs then? Explain that one. Like imagine your only job is to make sure these companies run and operate smoothly and you mess it up and brick all of their computers. It's crazy to me that this even happened because if I'm not mistaken, this is the largest outage ever recorded in history, ever.

All because one li- line of code was probably bad or something something stupid like that also a lot of articles are linking microsoft and crowdstrike together basically implying that they're like the same company and they're not and this is also as of now not microsoft's fault it's also like misleading to say microsoft because it's not really a microsoft outage it's really a windows outage as of now xbox is online it's not really microsoft it's windows so i don't know why they're all phrasing it like this probably just because microsoft's currently a hot topic but yeah it's not microsoft it is currently just crowdstrike it might be microsoft as i said earlier Microsoft could have updated and screwed something up and CrowdStrike did not know and they updated around the same time and then it causes big Problem, but that is a possibility But as I said if it is Microsoft's fault in any way CrowdStrike will let us know they're not gonna let that slide They're just not this will cost them millions upon millions If not billions of dollars over the long run because they're gonna lose a bunch of customers and people are not gonna trust them for a Long time so if Microsoft is responsible in any way shape or form they will let us know trust me They're not gonna let that slide And I also want to say, this is a huge deal. Like, I'm pretty sure almost every airport in the world is currently not operational. And the fix to get these computers back in line requires manual intervention, which the poor IT guys have to deal with.

And they have to go to every computer manually and fix it because it's bootlooping. There's also a weird amount of people trying to downplay the situation for some reason. I don't know why.

Like, someone will be like, oh my God, every computer in the world is basically brick. And then some guy will just respond being like, well, actually. Every computer's not break because if it's break it will ever work again.

It's just stuck in a boot loop Who cares probably if the computers don't work nothing works right now Who cares like if I hit a flight right now and I was stuck in the airport The last thing i'm thinking about is oh, they're not brick. They're stuck in a boot loop. I don't care dude I can't get home. So yeah, if you're watching this video in an airport because you're stuck there right now I'm, sorry. I really that really sucks.

I'm angry for you Like actually I already hate dealing with airports and if I dealt with this on top of it I would be furious like it already takes a guy in front of you a million years to take off his goddamn shoes for some Reason just take them off your feet And also, if you work for a company that this is affecting, or if your school is affected or something like that, let me know in the comments down below. I am actually really curious on how many systems have been knocked offline by CrowdStrike. I imagine it's a lot more than I'm thinking. And also, as I said, this is unlikely to be a cyber attack, okay?

Before you conspiracy nutcases start talking about it in my comments. What do you think? Let me know in the comments down below.
