Opportunities in Cybersecurity Careers

This is the job that employers will steal from you. So if you want the job that you will be chased by the client, and you can still demand a high salary, this video is for you. Hello everyone, my name is Mimi. And welcome to our home-based story.

So you know what happened? This is what happened to Gcash. A lot of money was lost.

Then a lot of people transferred to the competitor and they withdrew money from Gcash. So with so many hackers, if security is not good, of your app or your business overall, you can lose a lot of money, loyalty of customers. So businesses are really investing a lot in cybersecurity. According to articles and studies, there are more than 1 million cybersecurity jobs this 2023 but the professionals in this industry are very limited. So in today's video, I want to share with you what is the job in cybersecurity, how to get in here, what are their requirements, where to apply, and we'll also talk about how much is the salary.

To understand this job better, I invited someone on our channel. So make sure you stay with me until the end of our video. Okay, so guys, let's talk about what is cybersecurity. When an organization experiences a cyber attack or a hacker is in their system.

So a lot of those important things are at stake and that's where our cybersecurity professionals come in. So there are many different kinds of cybersecurity professionals. We have entry-level, mid-level, and high-level. And because there are very few professionals in this field, It's really fast to become a promotion here.

What are the general roles of joining this job? So guys, there's breach prevention, ethical hacking, incident response, hacker hunt, and compliance. So how to apply guys? Especially if you have experience in cybersecurity, it's easy to get offers from different IT companies. If you have zero experience and for entry level, you just want to enter this field, the first thing you need to do is to create a LinkedIn profile.

It has to be creative, it has to show your certifications or degrees related to IT and cybersecurity. If you have experience, put it there. Because the more creative or the more relevant information that you have, the more the attention of the headhunters for IT companies will catch.

If you have zero experience, coming from a different field, not related to IT or any computer courses, we suggest you enroll first in courses that offer certifications related to cybersecurity. If you don't have a budget, you can start with free information. Like on YouTube or any online videos that give information about cybersecurity.

And guys, as a bonus, I included in our description box a 3-hour cybersecurity course with completion certification. So if you want to look into it and try this out, it's free. Just click on the Link in the description box.

So how much is the salary here in cybersecurity? The jobs are categorized based on certain parameters. Your educational qualification, your professional work experience, your area of interest, for example, some candidates are into coding, others prefer managerial, so it's not really for tech jobs.

And then of course, your certifications. If it's related to cybersecurity, then that will definitely count. Depending on your position, for entry level, the average is usually around per month. And then if you're a senior level, it ranges from up to per month.

So the offers here in cybersecurity are huge. That's also one of the reasons why I wanted to share it with you today. If you feel that the job is intimidating because it's a bit techy and you need a computer-related course, don't worry.

I invited someone who started with zero experience when they started out in the cybersecurity field. And she's here now to share with us her journey on how she became a manager in this industry so let's all welcome my good friend Brother John Igno hello Brother John hey it's been a long time how are you I'm okay how are you welcome to the channel just to give you a back story guys Brother John was one of my colleagues in work I'm a teammate of Teletech way back 2009. We were there at Hewlett Packard. The things I shared with you guys about cybersecurity, it's all coming from Puyo John. So Puyo John, how did your career start here in cybersecurity?

It all started here when we were in HP. Actually, that was one of the factors why I entered the industry of IT and business consulting. I applied to one of the Australian banks.

I applied for DL but then again, they said we don't accept people from outside. But my background in teletech was really good. They said, you used to be in HP support.

They said, if you want, we can have a new LOB. So I became a pioneer of Identity Access Management Team here in Manila. That's where my career started, here in Identity Access Management.

So you learned your knowledge on the job? Correct. Were you a graduate of IT?

I'm not. Oh, right, guys? I'm not. As long as...

There's a way. You can't just say, I want this, I'll do this right away. Sometimes, there's a process, right? How did you transition to work from home now? I just looked at your LinkedIn portfolio.

Yes. So, I put your experiences there, what I do there as a senior access control analyst. And then here comes the IT companies that reach out to me, send me an email or invitation for interview.

If the offer is big, go. Now that you're already in cybersecurity for a lot of years, what would you say is the best part of your job? Of course, salary.

Of course. So, Pram, how much is it? Our basic is 15,000.

15,000 is the whole central size. So, if you're in cybersecurity, it's more than times 10. Yeah, times 10, guys, that's 150,000 if you didn't do the math. And that's just like an average, right, Kuya John? Average, yeah.

Could be higher than that, especially if you're a manager or senior. You're a manager already, right? So, it's bigger.

It's Fred. He's just about to reveal it, guys. To set the expectation of the new ones, of course, if you're in junior level, maybe it's in 17, 15, something like that. Some entry levels. But promotion in cybersecurity is fast.

And then on top of that, they don't just give rewards and awards. Now, I appreciate that. you really appreciate it. That's important.

You know, money is not always the most important thing. The working environment is also a big factor. I like that.

Because yes, I like what you said, that you seem to appreciate it. So if you like those things, what are the challenging parts of this job? Sometimes, there are clients, it's inevitable.

They are very demanding. After you deploy the product or the enhancement, they immediately think of changing it. And then, there's no end. you will be able to spend additional hours. If you have a problem, you can use your weekend.

That's the challenging part. You will really eat your time there. But other than that, it's better here in the cyber city.

That's nice. The reason why I invited Kuya John here guys is because I want you to get tips from him for those who want to join then cyber security because it's really a good opportunity at the moment that i like on coty palang yung di pa siya super saturated tapos ang taas nung sweldo and it's a booming industry pa rin so kuya john what are the tips that you can give to sa mga viewers natin na gustong makapasok sa cyber security industry actually the same thing na ginawa ko rin dati sabi ko wala akong background i know meron akong idea sa mga ano sa computer Like hardware, software, but I don't know how the identity and access management works. Good news is, we have YouTube.

So I said, what are the skills that you should develop? So there, YouTube, then I checked information like how the user access control works, what are the skills, technical skills that I should develop, what are the specialist skills. knowledge that I need to develop, I need to know about certifications, I researched all of that. And then also, of course, sometimes being a cybersecurity analyst, you really communicate with the client. Don't worry about what software platforms you're going to use, but rather focus on the technical background that you need to develop.

Just search through it. We have a lot of, you know, available resources online. Udemy has been a huge help to me. You can get an active directory course, AWS certification, at the same time, trainings, how to understand cloud, all of that. I learned all of that here.

I didn't learn it prior to joining this industry. So, guys, if you want to get into cybersecurity, just try to invest in yourself, upskill yourself. You really need to put effort.

I really like that you're hardworking. You've really come a long way. I'm so thankful that you reached out to me to share this opportunity with our viewers.

Because I was intimidated by the topic. But I said, this might help a lot of people who want to enter and to make their lives better. So thank you, John, for being here and sharing your experience with getting into this industry.

Anytime, always happy to help. So there, guys. If you know someone that you thought of while watching this video, that this suits you, or if you know someone who just wants to be in this field, then please let them know about this job opportunity by sharing this video so they can start and promote themselves right away.
