Structure of an Expository Essay
Introduction
Attention getter
Thesis statement (often a three-pronged thesis)
Body Paragraphs
Each paragraph covers one of the points made in the thesis
Conclusion
Restates the thesis and summarizes the main points
Writing Style
Tone should be formal.
Avoid slang and casual language (e.g., don't use"lol").
Avoid personal "I" statements (e.g., use "England is a great place to visit" instead of "I think England is a nice place to visit").
Research and References
If conducting research for a paper, include a reference page.
For tests with no preparation, references are usually not needed.
