Navigating Internships and Skills Development

foreign and keep coding we were focused on vocational trainings like carpentry and electronic classes as well and then hostile responsibilities everything we are responsible for ourselves the big step that you and Amanda are doing it's it's really you know grateful especially for people like me but Alpha of course like short time may we are doing a lot of things with a lot of practice and questions so that was one amazing thing about Alpha batch in fact two questions are directly from the you know practice issue that we did in Alpha batch I'm very grateful for the Apna College channel for everything hi everyone Alpha student and recently unique internships hi um everybody yeah I was in fifth standard the American scholarship uh the NGO system of course it is uh known as pestilosi world it is based in London for branch and then that is located in dehradun uttarakhand I mean we have a small village wherein they bring students from like uh South India Himachal North maybe himachaloo um and then from fifth Standalone until 12th standard I studied at St Joseph's Academy which is one of the best schools in there than I would say to grow myself you know like uh extra curricular activity selector competition you know Karen we were focused on vocational trainings like carpentry and electronic classes as well and then hostile responsibilities like laundry everything we are responsible for ourselves life was slightly challenging but at the same time I think I grew more as a person back then um and then my interest in programming started when I was in ninth standard because uh as part of icsc curriculum Java introduced and then that's how I started my journey in programming for Java I studied from 9th until 12th standards they say ISC or ICS or questions specifically Academy so that was one of the uh you know toughest decisions I made okay regrets because you know all of my colleagues and friends went into college as soon as 12th but then I was taking a gap year I was not very sure whether I would get to college or not finally in fact like uh that this is a very sad thing is and just because of you know je and the exam how it is only about physics chemistry and math kafi sarees students yeah exactly that is very true so Rosal can you tell the students more about how was the interview process like like how many rounds did you have and what kind of questions were asked okay so um my internship was like step in turn which is like student training in engineering uh um practice practice program program so it's like student uh training in engineering practice or program I'm not sure either of these okay so many applied 2022k uh November like November 22 May and then uh it took a while like January I heard back from the uh company like uh many normal application process first round like a resume and then I launched I just just my resume um I was filtered out for the interview round so interview round my answer thank you like I had two rounds uh both were technical FaceTime Nita dude just call me on my number and then telephonic interview you had yeah exactly and then 45 minutes two rounds like back to back with a 15 minutes break in between like 45 minutes 15 minutes break and then 45 minutes and then when I got the uh interview call up uh like I started preparing I mean like you know yeah foreign in a couple of weeks I think that was made available recorded for myself if I started preparing from there and then um like in fact uh due to non-disclosure agreement I cannot say the questions that were asked to me but I must say in fact two questions are directly from the you know practice sheet that we did in Alpha batch okay I think it was the first day I was working really hard because I knew this was a good opportunity for me and then I would not say like the question that were asked to me were the toughest in the world but again like oh then I like decent level as a freshman well I would ask the toughest questions yeah but again the definitely the questions definitely required me to think you know like in the very first round of my interview the question I got was like you know I was like oh my God this is this is like I cannot do this and then um question like for example you know break down the problem into smaller parts and then that's how I solved the question I successfully you know did all the chess cases and all those stuff you definitely did because you've gotten the internship now yeah I mean like okay I'm sure and then uh I did my coding interview in Java uh although like but then more confident with Java and then I proceeded with Java for second round maybe like I was asked two questions uh two proper questions like you know cross questions and then like for example exceptions like if you just have to include like specification limitations I answered well I believe and then that's how my interview went and then after my interview it took almost like three weeks uh for me to hear back from my recreator and then they called me and then they told me that congratulations have been accepted into this internship congratulations and I'm very happy about it congratulations once again thank you so much from the application day when you submitted your resume to the final acceptance I think I launched an application November nov November so like three and a half months because February February notified about my decision so November may I applied yeah okay so students who are thinking of applying to a company like Google they should have like this thing in mind at least in the entire process internship foreign uh so Rosal uh how did your parents react to the news I mean to be honest they are not aware about like you know how thing this definitely is but then they're definitely happy for me there's a very good quote which says like you know your parents may make the wrong decisions for you but the intentions are never wrong for you right so similarly because they are not aware you know they may not be as happy as they would be when they would know you know how big thing this definitely is but then you know again any parent for any child would definitely be the happiest person so I'm really glad about it in fact I can relate uh with this internships because they'd never heard of Microsoft before so I'm assuming you are in a similar situation where you have to explain to your parents that this is a big company where you've gotten an internship and this is a really big step in your career yeah exactly I told them like you know the YouTube the Gmail and everything that operates this is a part of Google and then they're like oh wow this is wonderful nice so uh what are your future plans now uh so you know as a freshman I would say like America with an experience to be honest so I I would want to you know explore different parts of development you know I recently started with Android app development and there may go web development be proper connect but I'm also very much interested in blockchain and all these uh you know like web3 uh stuff so which is a Kobe like you know I want to explore and then apart from that I feel like you know like a b internship at Google uh for three like three months May uh I will try and do that and make more connections fair I feel like the people from the industry you know I'll try to get as much uh you know as much as possible from them the experience and then like you know uh I would say like I don't know want to stop like you know I just keep moving up sounds I think that's that's for everyone because I'm a human too I feel like you know oh like that is a very nice thought basically up learn and grow with time in your career as well as in life yeah exactly is python but you gave your interviews usually see python C plus plus but how did you make this decision of going with Java a very different language which you're not studying in college for your interviews as a beginner like Java language so other languages to be honest if you are learning python first and then wants to learn C plus plus or Java you know the syntax and all those stuff could be slightly more challenging for you but many learned here starting with Java so Java May uh programming language fundamentals um so like you know I cannot recall because I don't know about it right even if I forget I feel like I can recall because that's one reason why I went with Java because my base uh in programming was in Java you felt confident and that is why you choose the language yeah exactly in fact in the last moment I was confused whether I should go with python or Java but to be honest like may pass alphabetical resources you know one you know like fundamental reason why I decided to go with Java films I did not have access to so this apparently I was like a girl Miracle of like I would have to revise almost everything at least like you know both saree uh in Bill functions forget our specialists [Music] did cgpa or your college gpa play any criteria in the selection like is it considered by Google for selection um okay so for me metric uh foreign [Music] it's good to set targets like GPA maybe what kind of um but focus more on skills building actual real life skills that will help you in your interviews during during your internship and your placement interviews so that's a nice thought and in fact college students I think the first year so they start comparing and especially internships what am I doing with my life you start to question yourself so basically our goals that that should be the goal comparing us with ourselves yeah exactly uh students who are just starting out in Tech or students maybe who want to get uh admission in college next year any advice that you want to give them um I would say like I feel like you should all keep working hard I know a lot of my friends who are better than me you know like for example a data structure development where there are so many of my friends who I know are doing so good you know who are at you know better level than me but then it's just about you know capitalizing opportunities that comes your way and it's like you know if you keep working hard my love there will be a day when the opportunity will knock at your door and then that's when you have to capitalize it so um you know like without comparing yourself to people around just you know just focus on yourself and just say like you know more than GPA it's about building skill sets you know real life of course you know like tech industry it's just about skill set even if you don't have a degree but if you are developing your skill there's still a way you know you can land into a very good job or internship especially opportunity I mean be like you know um starting starting learning from you know your YouTube videos and then like especially like and then you had an entire Java course you had entire C plus plus code I've now called Channel me so it has definitely been very helpful and then you know the initiative or like you know the big step that you and Norman Bay are doing it's it's really you know grateful especially for people like me I mean like as Southern India to be honest we cannot afford to send you to tuitions because already yeah if you are asking them for like you know extra money monetary you know funds for tuitions and stuff that's not possible but then if any resources YouTube May available only like yeah almost every every resource like it's not like you know I feel like smart work is like it's like there are so many resources so I'm very grateful for the Apna College channel for everything until now experiences then keep learning and keep exploring [Music]
