Lecture Notes: The Cross of Judgment

Introduction

  • The lecture discusses one of the most important subjects in the Holy Bible: the Cross of Judgment.
  • Aim to clear up lies, inconsistencies, and unbeliefs concerning the suffering of Hamashiach (the Messiah) on our behalf.

Key Text: 1 Corinthians 1:17

  • Paul was not sent to baptize but to preach the Gospel.
  • Preaching is not to show personal wisdom but to convey the message of Torah.
  • The cross should not be made of none effect by lack of understanding.

Understanding the Cross

  • The cross is a symbol of judgment and suffering.
  • The image of the cross is often misconstrued; historically, it was a crossbeam nailed to a tree.
  • The crucifixion of Hamashiach fulfills the prophecy of being cursed for us (Deuteronomy 21:23).

The Curse and Redemption

  • The curse of the law refers to the curses found in Deuteronomy, especially Deut. 28 and 30.
  • Yahushua Hamashiach redeemed Israel from these curses by becoming a curse for us.
  • The crucifixion is directly connected to the curse outlined in Torah.

The Cross in the Gospels

  • Matthew 27: Describes the trial and crucifixion of Yahushua, highlighting the innocence of the Messiah and the conspiracy against him.
  • Mark 15: Reinforces the innocence of Yahushua and the perversity of choosing Barabas over him.
  • Luke 23: Emphasizes the injustice of the trial and Yahushua's innocence.
  • John 18-19: Details the trial, crucifixion, and the fulfillment of prophecy, including the piercing of Yahushua's side.

The Cross as Judgment

  • The crucifixion serves as a judgment against the world for the rejection and crucifixion of the Messiah.
  • Revelation depicts the return of Yahushua as a judgment event where those who pierced him will wail.

Conclusion

  • The cross signifies the suffering and redemption of Israel.
  • It is a turning point in history and a fulfillment of prophecy.
  • The return of the Messiah is seen as a judgment against the world but good news for the remnant who keep Torah.

Final Thoughts

  • The lecture emphasizes the urgency of understanding the true meaning of the cross and turning to Yahushua for redemption.
  • The coming of the Messiah is imminent, and all should be prepared for the judgment it brings.
