Key Sewing Tools

1. Sewing Shears

• Purpose: Specifically designed for cutting fabric.
• Important Tips:
  • Do not use them to cut paper as it will dull the blades.
  • Avoid cutting through pins; it can damage the shears.

2. Measuring Tape

• Usage: Essential for taking accurate measurements.
• Application: Primarily used for head-to-toe measurements, especially useful for actors.

3. Seam Ripper

• Function: Used to remove stitches when mistakes are made.
• Alternative Tools:
  • Some shops prefer using a razor blade or a tool similar to it.
  • An exacto knife can be used for heavy-duty tasks like opening buttonholes.
• Preferred Method: Instructor's preference is to use a seam ripper for general purposes, aligning with their training.
