Contentment and the Kingdom Single

Definition of Contentment

  • Contentment: Being at ease or at rest with where you are until you achieve where you want to be.
  • It does not mean you don't desire improvements in life (e.g., better job, more income, marriage, family).
  • It means not living a worried life while waiting for changes.

The Danger of Discontentment

  • Example: Eve's sin due to discontentment in Genesis 3, instigated by Satan.
    • Satan convinced Eve that God was withholding something from her, leading to her discontentment.
    • Focused on the forbidden tree, ignoring all the other blessings.

Learning Contentment

  • Contentment is learned, not automatic.
  • Apostle Paul's teaching in Philippians 4:
    • "I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am."
    • Paul learned this through varied life circumstances (humble means and prosperity).
    • Key Scripture: Philippians 4:13 - "I can do all things through him who strengthens me."

Circumstances as a Teaching Tool

  • God teaches contentment through various life circumstances.
  • Bad days vs. good days: Contentment fluctuates.
  • "I have learned through my circumstances contentment."

Paul's Experience with Contentment

  • 2 Corinthians 12: Paul’s "thorn in the flesh."
    • A persistent problem allowed by God, despite prayer.
    • Paul learned to boast in his weaknesses.
    • Key lesson: God's grace is sufficient; strength is perfected in weakness.

Joseph's Example

  • Joseph's life as a single young man full of ups and downs.
  • Despite his trials (betrayal, slavery, false accusations), God was with him.
  • Key lesson: Discovering God in challenging circumstances.

The Secret of Contentment

  • The secret: To glory in weakness.
  • Praising God in difficult times leads to His strength being manifested.
  • Instead of complaining, focus on God's presence and strength.

Application for Kingdom Singles

  • Completeness: You are complete as you are.
  • Calling: Fulfill your Divine purpose.
  • Contentment: Focus on God and His strength to endure difficult situations.

Conclusion

  • Jesus offers His presence like a "lollipop," a focus shift during tough times.
  • Completeness, calling, and contentment work together for the Kingdom Single.
  • Embrace your completeness and Divine purpose, finding strength in God even when alone.
