Chapter 1: Basics of Arabic Grammar

1.1 Arabic Grammar

  • Science of Nahw: Rules for forming sentences with nouns, verbs, and particles.

1.2 The Word

  • Word (Kalima) can be meaningful or meaningless.

  • Verbal Sentences: Begin with a verb.

Chapter 2: Declinable and Indeclinable Words

2.1 Signs of Iraab

  • Iraab: Variations at the word’s end based on sentence position.
  • Used in Murab words, defined by preceding words.

2.2 Indeclinable Words

  • Words that don’t change form, e.g., particles, some nouns.

Chapter 3: Further Discussion of Nouns

3.1 Relative Adjectives

  • Show relation, formed by adding suffixes.

3.2 Diminutive Nouns

  • Express smallness or affection, changed form.

3.3 Definite and Common Nouns

  • Definite Nouns: Personal pronouns, proper nouns.
  • Common Nouns: Non-specific.

3.4 Masculine and Feminine Nouns

  • Defined by visible or assumed signs of femininity.

4.1 Governing Particles

  • Particles that affect the form of nouns and verbs.

4.2 Governing Verbs

  • Active Verbs: Known doer.
  • Passive Verbs: Doer unknown.
