today we're celebrating the operators and suppliers who were successful across the EMA region in the past 12 months to say that 2023 was eventful for the game gaming industry in Europe the Middle East and Africa would be an understatement in July the integrated Resort concept well proven across the US and Asia came to life in Europe for the very first time in Cyprus the United Arab Emirates announced a new regulatory body to pave the way for a national lottery and Commercial gaming in the country there were a lot of other regulatory developments as well the gambling commission here in the UK finally published its long awaited white paper Sweden Italy and Hungary also introduced amendments to their gambling regulation the online industry in Africa continued to experience substantial growth and we saw a number of companies deepen their footprint in key regulated African Market suppliers push the boundaries of innovation with more companies deploying artificial intelligence in sophisticated new ways and most importantly responsible gaming CSR and ESG remain the key Focus for the gaming industry globally as I am based in London for me the Hipp drum Casino always comes to mind when talking about social responsibility as I have witnessed firsthand how much it does for London's West stand the property's executive chairman Simon Thomas is also an active spokesman for the development of the gaming industry and his contribution to the casino sector in the UK has been invaluable it is an absolute honor to have Simon here today and to be able to host the global gaming gaming Awards um working with Julian Maria and their amazing team is a highlight of our year and you should be amazingly proud with everything you've created and thank you for allowing the Hipp Drome to be part of that and um from everybody here at the hrome thank you to all of you for coming here this year I know l people have been here before um but do have a look around there are always changes here including today we've got a gorilla on the roof it's kind of random but that's our change the day but there's always stuff changing and for those who haven't been here before have a look around it's fun um we've got eight bars we've got a ninth bar under construction it's a secret bar and I can't tell you about it because it wouldn't be secret um we've got Steakhouse we've got chop chop the Chinese restaurant which is fairly new it's actually the top rated Chinese restaurant in London and number 29 on trip advisor out of 15,000 restaurants we've got the poker rooms outdoor smoking areas we got the theater here where which we host Magic Mike live um we're just heading towards our 2000th performance and it still sells out uh if anybody wants to come and see there are a few tickets left multiple Brands which happens a lot in our industry only one of them can be shortlisted in a particular category we invited 50 industry leaders all with years of experience in the EMA region to choose the winners we KPMG in the crown dependencies independently adjudicating the voting process to ensure fairness and transparency I would like to personally thank all Executives who kindly agreed to participate in this year's judging panel quite a few of the people you find on the panel lead some of the biggest companies in the industry yet they still manage to find time to to do their voting and
