AI in Business and Beyond

hi good evening good morning everybody yeah good evening good evening good evening oh good morning shall we start uh yes sir Dr Chandra can start before starting I wanted to make a small announcement uh we have rolled out a career intent survey with all of you we have rolled it out on an email as well as on the groups uh it is actually really important for us to understand uh what what is your expected outcome out of this program so request all of you to please fill up that form from your uh there are few questions about uh your past experience and your expected outcome from the program uh please take out few minutes and uh fill that out from yurin that already we not getting confirmation that you're getting it or not so buil or something like that then it is good to all of us uh sure I will I will do that I will do that from my end once submitted automatic mail will be generated so we will get automatic mail is not triggered is what I am aware of but we I have to send it manually I guess I'll I'll send a confirmation from B I'll maybe roll out a form which will give the details of who has already filled it and uh is pending sure thank you thank you so much everyone and when is the last day to submit I'm sorry when is the last date to submit the survey uh there is no last date as such but uh it would be better if you can do it as soon as possible because we have to take out lot of information out of that and based on that we have to do changes to the program as well and a lot of other things it's depending thank you sure thank you thank you so much everyone uh Dr Chandra I guess you can start the session now thanks there's also a request from Anna to make her a panelist uh sure I'll get it done from mind all right so uh good evening everyone or good morning everyone depending on where you are um give me a minute I'll share my screen and then we will Jump Right [Music] In okay so um me just keep the chat window put on the side so that I can see what's going on all right let's jump in um so if you if you take a step back and see what we have been doing um in the lectures since the beginning we started with a historical overview of AI and we looked at the key trends which have been shaping where AI will go in the next decade or so so right we looked at a databased view of AI where we looked at different kinds of data structures or data types or data formats including structure data unstructured data semi-structure data text images video audio we introduced the notion of relational data model where we introduce the fundamental idea of X belongs to RN cross p uh The Matrix format or the relational data format and we said how it kind of becomes a bridge that relational data format becomes a bridge between data and AI in the sense that uh we we strive to translate different kinds of data formats into that relational data format or relational data model some data formats like structure data which you expect to see in a spreadsheet or a database table fit very naturally into the relational data model and other data formats like text image audio video require certain massaging or engineering of the raw data to convert it into a relational data model and that was called feature engineering um the exercise whether manual or automated or machine Le which converts raw data of different formats into a relational data model is what is called featured engineering and once we have that data model which becomes a way for us to standardize how we are going to learn from that data we introduced different kinds of machine learning we talked about answer supervised learning we talked about supervised learning we talked about self-supervised learning uh we talked about reinforcement learning and in each case we understood the kind of problems that are solved in these different kinds of learning algorithms and we noticed that the view of the world which talks about unsupervised supervised self-supervised and reinforcement is often independent of the first axis that we talked about which is data formats that is to say that you can apply uned learning on text you can also apply unised learning on images you can also apply unised learning on a spreadsheet and the same for supervised self-supervised and reinforcement learning so these are two independent axes of of thinking about uh the whole Space of AI and ml um besides this framework if you look at what we have done with the invited lectures that you attended we have exposed you to a wide variety of applications and use cases of AI in different domains towards the end of the session today we will also be launching our assignments which will ask you to undertake three exercises where you will be applying AI both in a particular domain and also in the organization that you work for and asking you to work through where you think AI can be applied in your organization slash your domain what I want to do today is to kind of give you a framework and and I'll give you a couple of Frameworks to think about how to apply AI in a particular domain or a organization right and that framework will help you think and apply this so it's time to now start applying what you have learned over the past few sessions and what you're going to continue to learn over the next few sessions but we are moving we are at a stage in the course where we will start asking you to work actively um the two parts of the assignments would be individual and the third part of the assignment would be group work towards the last 10 15 minutes uh swup will share with you the groups that we have created uh if there are some changes that you would like to see to the the group assignment that you are in you can work with suu uh there are there is time for the group assignment so we want to freeze the groups by the end of Monday which is in the next 72 hours so that's that's where we are in the course path and today's section or today's session is about kind of giving you uh a way to think about AI in a much more structured way right so that you can start thinking about okay this is what the space is and the second objective is um how do you kind of start using this there's a question from Vin uh whether he can apply the out can I can I can I use the assignment to think about the application of AI outside his organization we will let that be your call Vin um all of you you are senior folks so we have been uh fairly open in how we help you learn and you guys understand your career road maps better than we do uh if you want to apply it for different organization uh just declare it in the assignment that put a star in the assignment that this is the hypothetical organization I'm working on and that's fine what you will see is that as long as you understand the organization in depth then it will be easier for you to think about application of AI um I think the the statement that I made will make much more sense by the time we end the session right so so let's jump in right um now um everybody what I mean that we have you you would have thought listened to in the last eight or nine lectures uh believes that and hopefully you also now agree agree that there's going to be a huge impact of AI right just to kind of set you set context on how fast this is coming if you look at electricity it took more than 40 years to realize its full potential and this is based on an article as as you know all the references that I use are always towards the bottom right there's a link uh so this is based on a New York Times article right and it basically said that one of the reasons electricity took so long to realize it full potential because it required changes to the physical infrastructure of the world for example you need to have multi-story buildings for the factories and so on so forth right um the next big innovation that the article talks about is microprocessors which tooks about 20 OD years to realize their potential and if you think about why it took 20 plus years for microprocessors to realize their potential well you need to realize that humans needed to learn about how computers work how to interact with computers uh and to understand how to work with them uh and today this knowledge is pretty much there in almost all of human civilization the comfort that we have developed with graphical user interfaces is now a civilization wi phenomena right now this was in the first class first session I showed you that AI is has the fastest adoption curve in history and expert estimate that it will take less than three years for this to scale uh the primary changes that we are looking for uh will be based on societal impact and regulating it so that it does not go Haywire right so so that's that's where we are now how do we analyze this impact right and that's because as if you're going to apply AI in in your organization or in your domain you need to have a framework and here is a framework that I like to think about of course this is not cast in stone but hopefully this will help you right the first kind of domain or word that should come to your mind is the word creativity right um and the roles or the divisions or the departments in an organization which Pride themselves in creativity are departments like marketing advertising design music movies and art right this space is already undergoing a significant impact as we speak right and I'll give you examples so we'll do some case studies we look at some tools uh AI tools which are significantly transforming this whole creativity space and forcing us to rethink how these departments how these horizontals should work going forward so I believe this is going to be a space that's going to see significant transformation it's already seeing significant transformation uh the second one is what we call productivity and here the the horizontals or the domains that are likely going to be most impacted are software development itself highend Consulting lowend Consulting management consulting operations finance and even product Innovation right and that seems a little bit strange that we are saying that Innovation will be impacted but it turns out that it's already being impacted as we speak and the key word here is productivity again this is something that we mentioned on the first lecture first slide that the kind of productivity increase that is expected from AI is going to be 50% right now just so that you understand there's a flip side of productivity which unless policies and regulations and up skillings are put in Pace productivity sometimes is also read as loss in jobs and we do expect to see a significant impact on the labor force and unless there is enough upskilling then there there the societal impact that we need to prepare for is something that we need to be cognizant of but most experts believe that a significant impact is coming on productivity and the third is probably the negative side of a and I like to think of the word trust here right and if you have been following what is happening with elections around the world uh deep fakes for video and audio and images is now becoming a huge huge problem uh and all of this can be attributed to the speed and the cost as which AI can generate content and this content is now per ating social media um a report I read I think an estimate that I read about two weeks ago was that 30% on content on social media now is the I generator so and this creates significant challenges and we'll need to figure out how to deal with this you will need to be cognizant of this as you start thinking about applying AI right so those are three things that we'll talk about today as one framework and towards the end I will introduce the second framework right so think about creativity and here is the one line Insight uh everything that you can imagine will be AI generated now of course this is uh this is an exaggeration but the exaggeration is meant to achieve a purpose and that purpose is to make you think and sit up and take notice and try to prove the statement wrong and in the process learn what AI cannot do and what I AI will never be able to do and that is an interesting thought process that you should struggle with it's a good struggle to go through mentally but um this is something that should be the starting point that everything that you can think about can be AI generated right so let's look at what that means um now I'm going to play out videos so keep your audio and video on there'll be lots of examples of if you have not seen them they they will kind of make you jump out of your street of your seat and that's the object U the first idea here is about personalization right and people who work in marketing and advertising um talk a lot about personalization so here is an application of personalization in the domain of marketing Under the Umbrella or theme of marketing under under the theme of creativity right now this is an example of a cruise called virgin voyages and what they did was they allowed their customers to create a custom invitation video invitation which featured a Hollywood actress called Jennifer Lopez right so I'll pray through this and then I'll tell you why why this is very interesting hi it's me Jennifer Lopez Chief celebration officer of Virgin voyages here to invite you to celebrate so come celebrate your anniversary your birthday or just generally being fabulous really Kyle it's good right gen is supposed to be inviting people to Virgin voyages not doing whatever that was you know just give me that as I was saying why not celebrate on an awardwinning morage with Michelin stard Chef curated menus world class detonations award winning boring I'll hop in there I'll hop right in that suit so I can't watch this give it to me there's no kids here that's all you need to know oh can I look there J AI invite your CR to Voyage create your custom invite at virgin voyages tocom it's not just a yacht it's a super yacht okay so very interesting ad right now take a minute to think about what's happening um the person that you stre on the screen is of course not Jennifer Lopez right um this is an AI generated Avatar and they did this of course by signing a contract with Jennifer Lopez where Jennifer Lopez lent her likeness to an AI program so this was an AI generated Avatar um and there was a play on the word Genna of course which was pretty cute but the idea that you now have celebrities being able to lend their likeness to an AI program to to create a personalized video ad um is an interesting Landmark it combines AI it allows users to create content remember that the creative angle was that users can come and create their custom ad which means whatever they said Jennifer Lopez would say that statement in the invitation right so it's a great example of creativity meeting user generated content using Ai and then using it for personalization right so that was pretty cute uh let's look at some more examples um this is a very interesting example this comes from India U and this is again an ad um and it again is personalization but again it has been done in a very interesting way right and why this is interesting for me is because the brand is cures which which made chocolates uh and they created an ad featuring Shah ruk Khan now in this case the actor he's a famous actor in India and Shah ruk Khan was hired for the ad so who you see on the screen is Shah ruk Khan but I want you to watch closely what he's saying right um and that is very important so Focus not on the video uh but on the audio of what's happening in this particular ad big brands have big money to hire famous people but not the small guys and they are the ones who are still hurting presenting Shah ruk Khan my ad he almost certainly has more devoted fans than any other movie star in the world biggest movie star in the world FS have called him one of the biggest movie stars in the world we helped small businesses by making shuk Khan the world's biggest movie star their brand ambassador we used machine learning to recreate Shah Khan's face and voice to take the local store names in the ads fashion Royal fashion he K clot say p lakmi collection say the sh different versions of the same ad with local store names were targeted as per the PIN code of the viewer showing them only the nearby stores but it is impossible to cover all the stores so we gave the power to the people to create their own version of shahruk Khan my ad any small business owner could promote their stores through their own social media networks like WhatsApp forwards and other social media Pages it is shahu Khan selling your store man if if you're a smalltime retailer or a merchant what an amazing thing to have is an ad campaign that has gone by a new ad which is all over okay so I'll stop it here but that was an interesting part because where what they did was again they allowed small retailers to cre person and what we learning that over one lak local stores sorry about that so the ad was a personalization attempt but again it crowdsourced it combined crowdsourcing with a small retailer or the small shop owner could modify the ad that was being presented on the screen and use it to promote their brand which kind of is pretty revolutionary if you think because as the ad says uh small brand owners and retailers cannot afford celebrities because they charge millions of dollars but with this catb is completely flipped it on its hand um so as far as royalties is concerned interesting question uh guard rails so let's go one by one so this is a good uh good thing happening on the chat Channel where you guys are kind of asking all the right questions so let's go one by one in both the ANS uh I believe I'm not privy to the but I'm pretty sure that given the brands that are involved they both are reputed Brands and they would have done their copyright sign offs with the celebrities paid them whatever they paid them and this was done in with their full approval um you your question about how can we ensure that it is not misused in real is in fact the third pillar that is coming uh which is the section where we talk about trust and what we need to be careful of uh it's a scary scary world we don't have all the answers but I'm glad you picked up that this is a problem um the question on guardrails there's a dedicated section on the in the presentation today or where we talk about what are the three kinds of guardrails that people are now considering putting down for solving problems already created okay so U so if you think about what we have done we have scaled the reach and personalization for small retailers right and it is much cheaper um this is the third ad this is again creativity uh in the domain of creativity we would I put this under the domain of branding and this ad was particularly interesting because it was used by a brand which is already a market leader in the space to reinforce the dominance of their brand so it's perhap not as generic as the first to use cases but it does show the power of um what AI can do right so let me play this ad and kind of um let you draw your conclusions about what's happening with this one three okay um so can everybody hear the audio because Deepak is complaining that there is no audio if you can hear the audio just type yes no could not hear audio okay uh in this case the audio was not important the visual was more important the background music was just going on I'm not sure what went wrong but um the background video was more important so I hope you got what it was but hind for those of you who live in the US definitely know that it's a market leader in and what they did if you think about this ad they basically did something very simple where they asked a text to image generator to give um to give the give the prompt called uh catchup and they asked the image generator to generate images of ketchup and they realized that when they did so all the images that were popping up were showing hind SketchUp images H SketchUp bottles or containers and they use that to basically say that even AI knows that ketchup means HS right so a pretty clever use of um a text to image generator basically says that even AI knows that ketchup is Heights right um and quot you're absolutely right this is an example of AI buyers a great catch but it is a AI buyers being leveraged by a brand to promote its brand so pratique uh the training data in this case great question this is a text to image generator so it has been trained on the global image of the global data set of images available online right that's how Foundation models like GP dolly and mid Journey at time trained they use whatever images they can get hand on so I want to make it explicitly clear that this AI agent was not something that was created by Hinds they basically took a AI generator I believe it was mid Journey they took this and asked something that was an existing model which is accessible to everyone in the world including you you can go and try experiment on Mid Journey or Runway ml or Dolly to and see what comes up if you give it a prompt of catch up 100 times how many times does it give you a hind like bottle and you can try out this experiment and you can do the same thing with other products like toothpast and tires and see what pops up and if there is a if there's a brand bias in the images right um cotland question will we see large corporation investing dollars to bias training data sets um I don't know the answer to that we we may but I don't know whether that's the most cost-efficient way of uh cost efficient way of building a brand there are more clever ways which is where the creativity will come in on how you use AI uh yes it's a data governance problem uh question about Sudan how do we make sure that the underlying data is out of bias you cannot um remember there are two kinds of models and it's an important point so I'll spend a couple of minutes on this if you are building your own AI model [Music] then the responsibility of making sure that the underlying data does not have bias is your responsibility but when you talk about Foundation models uh which are pre-trained whether it's the model called GPT which sits behind chat GPT uh whether it's Dolly 2 whether it's mid Journey these are pre-trained models which means that the data that they have fed to them that their organization which build these AI models has fed to these models is not under your control at all right so when you use chat GPT for example you don't control what is the data that was used to trone chat jpt that was the decision of open AI right when it comes to open source models abely then it is your responsibility to make sure that the data does not have bias but even that is a very very difficult question right for example think about 5 minutes ago if I had not showed you the ad of Hines would you have imagined that showing all brands all bottles of a particular brand uh for a product like ketchup is something that you need to worry about in your training data right um this is a very difficult question as to what we call bias I would put it in the same category of problem as what we call fake news right um part of the problem is this is the combined knowledge base of human Civ I ization and what one person calls bias is just the social Norm AC accepted by the other person so this is a very very difficult question I'm glad you guys are asking it but unfortunately we don't have the answers right okay so three examples and just to kind of get the juices flowing now what does this mean right what does this mean and how do we handle the first thing is that you should expect the idea that personalization which is a key theme in marketing and advertising is just going to explode uh and that's going to become a theme in how marketing and advertising is done and the fact is that you will be able to do it at scale and you will be able to do it affordably right personalized ads for the longtail of cons consumers users and retailers is now it's ready here and now in fact I believe both Google and facebook/ meta are all offering this as a service to be able to personalize ads depending on who is saying seeing the ad from which geography and which demographic you can dynamically personalize your ads right now these ads are going to start looking like people right we or let me say this we think of chat GPT as a chart interface but when you see a celebrity talking powered by AI you need to think of I'm I'm calling that as an ad or a GPT interface too celebrities or human interface and on the right hand side is again an interesting image this is from lvo the denim genes maker and the the model that you see in the picture does not exist it's a AI created model right again what you're doing here is you're saying that the model which I'm used to display my product will change based on geography I want the model to look more and more like the person I'm targeting so that it's personalized right so uh that's what we mean by the level of personalization that's going out it's in your language it changes based on your location and your context so expect personalization to be a big big theme in the space of uh marketing advising and become a dominant U theme in marketing it already is it's just going to explode even further right uh the second thing that you will see here is engagement right um if you think about how we interact with technology today uh it's primarily we consume a lot of content from the internet whether it's Instagram or whether it's whatever your favorite Google News Tik Tok or where wherever you spend most time on LinkedIn we we consume a lot of content what chat GPT has done is kind of made it more interactive with text and you saw the two examples in the previous slide of a celebrity and AI generated model but that was still a consumption right now what you're seeing here right on right hand side is another AI generated agent and I call this an agent because this quote unquote agent looks like a human and can talk to you so it's a voice-based agent she can talk to you she's backed by a GPT model right uh and she kind of becomes she can play a different role she can become an assistant she can become a friend but I wanted to make sure that you understand that chatbots do not always look like a chart interface they can look and feel like a human right these are chart boards who engage and they can be used to retain users on a platform they can use they can be used to earn attention and they can be used to boost the daily active users on a platform right because you want to keep the audience engaged so think of them as avatars or agents who deepen the engagement that you're having with the platform with a quote unquote human touch and feel and these are assistants who make recommendations and you can expect that the boundary between whether it's a recommendation from a human or a chatbot is going to become very fluid as we go forward and this can be a huge uh play for e-commerce platforms who are trying to influence the behavior of shoers right um here's another one influence this is we talked about now this starts to raise some interesting questions some of these questions you guys already raised is a chat session really an ad and what what if a chat session recommends a brand does it become an ad then right uh and if this recommendation is made implicitly or explicitly is it then an ad uh can you really trust a recommendation made by an AI assistant so you'll start seeing questions of trust emerge as we go forward uh and what if it this AI assistance is sponsored by a brand or a platform right so these are different difficult questions that are coming up so that was the first theme on creativity right and that is happening now right it is available to us this technology is available to us now and is being actively used by Brands marketers and advertisers right the second them that I want to talk about is productivity right um and the focus area when we talk about productivity for AI is something that we call Knowledge work right now The Economist definition of this is sometimes called Blue Collar versus white collar so if you think about the Industrial Revolution which was triggered by electricity the biggest impact on productivity was on Blue Collar jobs or the people who worked on Factory floors in manufacturing centers building physical stuff what AI is going to do is bring around similar transformation in what we call the white collar job which is sometimes also called the knowledge work right and that is where we expect a significant impact on productivity um and sometimes people kind of say that it's going to automate repetitive work which is not false but I think it's an understatement um if you just if you if you map to say that all repeative work will be automated well yes but that's not the big picture the big picture is that all knowledge work will be impacted um some to a lesser extent and some to a larger extent but you will see what I mean as we move forward right and I'll show you some tools to kind of drive home the point um yeah so um parag has a good point it's a common valid common parag um yeah you're right these things are coming right so the first one is visual design and I wanted to start with visual design is because it lies at the intersection of creativity and productivity right we don't think of designers or artists or photographers or film makers as those involved in repetitive work right by definition we expect them to do uh creative work right and what do we mean by saying that um the productivity of such creative people will increase right so we saw three examples of end products now I want to lift the whale and show you what is happening underneath the hood of how this is being impacted right so here's the first one if you think about uh this platform called Runway ML and links URL is always uh the reference URLs are at the B bottom right if you want to look at these tools these are public websites right so if you look at Brand managers designers they spend tens of thousands if not hundred of thousand th000 for creating custom images custom videos uh for communicating a Brand's U message or a brand story or a product story right and here is what AI now allows us to do right so the key idea is can these images and videos be generated by AI right so here's some [Music] example right now I do want to emphasize that what is going on is not search this is not search note the button says generate so as you are describing the text it is not as if these images exist in a database somewhere and it is finding an image that satisfies the text that you are writing and serving that image from a database that is not what is happening right um what is happening is that this image image is being generated on the Fly and that is fairly powerful and the reason it is powerful is because you can fine-tune your prompt to get the image you are exactly looking for which typically if you were going to do on a photo shoot would would have cost you a few weeks of effort to organize process create and then you would have spent a few thousand dollar on getting the right images that you want if you did not want to use pre-cooked images right but now you are generating these images using a text prompt um within a few seconds right and you can do this with video and you'll see what I mean on this one sorry let me start this from the beginning here you go right so again um I emphasize this is not search they are generating these videos on the Fly um so there's a question from Muhammad Muhammad I don't know what going on why you can't hear the audio but again um audio was not important there was some background music uh I would rather focus on the discussion the the if you want to look at these these are all available as links parag what is behind deciding the ethnicity of the man's image leaning against the wall when the image is generated I don't know the answer to that right I have no idea Runway ml might have some I don't think even Runway ml knows it is just that it based on the training data that's all we can see but if you don't like the ethnicity of the man uh then you can change the prompt right so you can if you want a Caucasian man or you want a South Asian man you can just change the prompt and I'm pretty sure that runwayml will be able to generate it all right so um so what this tool is doing now the this tool is allowing you to realistically and consistently synthesize images and videos for marketing right I want you to take a moment and think about the impact of this tool on the film makers on the photographers on designers and on brand managers and what it would mean um for the amount of time they invest how will that shrink how will it Impact labor force how will it impact the speed at which they work and the cost of how much they invest in building stuff right all of those have significant implication so of course and this is a theme that you will see consistently AI power tools are cheaper and they are faster okay um so question from joshu is about copyright again I don't have the answers um this is something that is being discussed in quotes around the world I believe there are cases in the US quotes as we speak on different media houses different publication houses different websites who have sued all of these AI companies um about copyright violations and we'll see how the codes rule right but this is happening here and now um here's another interesting one um this is for UI design uh and this is slightly adjacent uh domain but different enough to be called out uh if you worked with designers um or UI ux designers they spend hours creating design languages custom to your brand custom icons visuals and copyrighting the content that should go on your brochures on your marketing material on your website on your blogs right and here's an interesting tool that um I particularly like it's called diagram uh and it gives you the ability to generate icons on the Fly uh user interfaces can be generated on the fly with a prompt uh you can create cont images for your website and you can create custom content once you give it a little bit of context of what your website and brand is all about right and all of these interestingly are editable and this brings me to an interesting point um this tool diagram is basically positioning itself as a human in the loop AI tool so what they are doing is they're saying we'll generate those icons we'll generate uis we will generate these images and text but we and we will back integrate them with existing tools that human designers use so one of the popular human designers tools is something called figma and each one of their output goes inside figma so the human can edit it or uh optimize it as they say see fit right so this is an interesting example because it acknowledges that uh AI generated content may not be 100% ready to go uh on on a website or be used for end purposes so they give an editable format which a human in the loop can then optimize and fine-tune before it goes live so that's of course cheaper it's real time and it is a compatible with existing tools that humans in this field are already comfortable using um here is the third one this is called craft full and this is for AI customer research there some chat sessions going on okay audio samit you seems to be having problem with I audio but most of the people are fine so it seems that the problem should be on your end maybe you should look at it okay okay let's continue AI for customer research now this is uh addressing markers and product managers uh and one of the problems that product managers and marketer face is that they rely on listening to the customer right now what does that mean this this is also called customer research uh listening to the customer if you turn back the clock before the internet in the 1950s and 60s and 70s um the listening to the customer literally meant that you went out and talked to the customers and asked them questions about your products whether they liked it what did they like what did they not like what was the compet what did they like about the competitors product right um so they they relied a lot on feedback from customers and there are several ways of doing it people who come from a market research background uh kind of know the idea of focus groups and user groups and talking to these people talking to customers to understand what is liked about this product uh in today's day and age uh you have social media uh so you can listen to the social media chatter to understand customer behavior and what customers like the problem of course is the scale at which this is done right um so the the extent to which these the the the amount of time that is required to listen to or read the amount of chatter going on about social on social media about your product is phenomenal right so how do you do that right uh now the idea is well now you have NLP natural language processing so can you understand the millions of messages from thousands of users and help identify things like top requests top complaints and most loved features right and that's something that this AI power tool called craft full can do it can basically listen to the hashtags related to your brand and find the top features time find the top feature requests top issues and what customers love most you can understand that this is super human scale you cannot really expect humans to process access all the social media and then do it because it's the volume is too high it is much cheaper and it works much faster so this is an example of AI in customer research right this one is for user research the difference between customer research and user research is that customer research is from existing customers and user research is typically carried out when you're trying to design a product so this is like the pre stage you have not yet launched a product and you have an idea for a product and what you're trying to do is you're trying to understand uh how would users react to such a hypothetical product so um this is more challenging because of course you do not have existing content right it's nobody's talking about it on social media because the product does not yet exist um so how do you kind of uh use AI to understand whether a hypothetical product uh going is going to be liked by the customer and this is a interesting AI tool it's called synthetic users and what it does is it generates a hypothetical set of users for you so these are AI powered agents who are designed as per your specifications and you can chat with them right uh and you can chat with them about your hypothetical product which is which I found again is interesting uh and those of you who come from the marketing field this space is very uh often used by Design thinking which focuses a lot on understanding users design thinking relies on user interviews to understand the user's paino and how a new product will benefit them right so the idea is that quote unquote these users can can you a AI generate these users right instead of looking for humans which is very expensive because you have to actually recruit these users go out in the field observe them talk to them over weeks and months then pour over the insights discuss products with them and then see whether they like the product so it's a fairly manually intensive uh pro project or approach to kind of validating a product idea right so this is interesting uh if you can't see it let me take a minute to kind of zoom in and show you what they're trying to do here right so what they're trying to do here is they are generating a profile of a user saying generate users like this set their demographics like this set their personality traits and uh it says I'm generating these agents and once you have these gen agents generated then you can start talking to them literally chatting with them as if they are customers right and hear feedback from them and test out your product idea right so that's why it's called synthetic users right and of course it's 10x cheaper and they are positioning it as a thousand times faster okay some questions on the chat while I was talking there was a comment on copyright and design rights uh in the context of uh Tokyo interesting that you mentioned Tokyo and Japan um Joshua I would actually say suggest that you look at what Japan has done it has gone the extremely opposite way of what you're saying right what they have basically said is that AI tools can use any cont content and that will not be counted sorry as a copyright violation so Japan has been very liberal about AI using data which is in public domain for copyright saying so the position that a Japan has taken is that if it's the public domain and you train an AI tool on it it's fair game okay um Yen says questions users are not all also users are not always the service payers or customers I'm not sure what that comment means so maybe if you have a question you can rearticulate it Goen prsh Patel U this can be replaced test marketing of products um well replace is a strong word PES because as with any new technology you are likely to see a lot of push back when you try to bring change in your organization I would say this can definitely Aid and reduce the cost but perhaps a last level of human in the loop might still be needed okay Parx says uh involved in Google product UI research for their upcoming product show ask me what my thoughts on the UI Fields were right um so yeah parag I don't know I don't know what what that comment was supposed to do U jasica can this be used for financial products like Insurance uh absolutely Jessica um so if you're creating a new product category U you could try out synthetic users your you could describe your target profile and chat with them but as I said it's too early to think of these tools as replacing existing processes I would say that think of them as aiding the process and a first dipstick study and then using this to reduce refine or optimize the human-based process right U as if you have worked in organization long enough you know that no existing process can be changed overnight so think of these as AIDS and tools which you should use in the best possible way uh and in the initial stages combine them with the existing processes and over a period of time decide how much you want to replace okay um I'm Shri Kant AI saying that AI can capture human sentiments to such a Precision that they can create users like boss nobody's saying that Shri um I don't think I'm saying it I don't think the website is claiming it they're saying here's a tool it can help you with your user research use it if you may uh there's no claim being maed on replacing humans sentiments or human opinions it's just a tool if it helps you use it if it doesn't help you that's fine okay um so think of it sorry um can I take a look at the slide before this one before the synthetic uses sure for customer research okay yeah um I'm very interested in this one AI for customer research I I I think I missed you somewhere along the lines of like how many mentions what is the top feature could you explain just a little bit more T can you repeat that yeah uh could you explain this slide a little bit more because I'm I'm very interested in this uh I do strategies for Topline sales so so yeah okay so let me give you an idea U look at the website craft the bottom right is the product that I'm featuring on the website so here's what's basically doing it's basically looking at social media and it is filtering all the chatter about a particular brand or a particular product from a particular set of handles or from particular set of hashtags it is ingesting all the text from the users and using natural language processing and use by processing those millions of messages from thousands of users it is carving out the key products requests the key complaints and the most love features and many other things from that text so it's an application of AI in the domain of natural language processing where the data type is text and the data source is social media does that make sense yeah makes sense I I definitely want to use kuu in my line of work thank you sure good all right um so there's a question from Vin we use synthetic data which is DNN based to generate data to train image enhancement models significant reducing cost and time of AI product development great that's a great use case Okay so as I said don't think of this as replacing think of it as a first C tool to refine what you actually want to invest in typically there are lots of product ideas floating on around in an organization and think of this as going into the product Innovation space so so you don't need to kind of test out every idea if you have 20 ideas that you are you think are interesting you can think of this two as a way to do a dipstick study or a first cut and maybe select instead of doing a deep user research with 20 ideas you short list five based on a tool like this and then do a deep dive a full study with them right U you can use this not for new product designs but for feature enhancements right for feature enhancements it's next to impossible to do a full-blown user research study it's just too expensive so can you use this for adding new features right that's another one um this is another tool now we are moving away from going on a different field business intelligence right um almost a staple today also called Data analysis or business intelligence Insight um and what and this field has existed for a decade now and has grown Leaps and Bounds as as companies have started to look at um started to look at uh data that they have and how to improve it use it for business intelligence and business Improvement right so this field has existed so now what is new with AI right um I'll let this play out and see what this is [Music] doing right um so some cute examples of what's Happening here uh what's basically Happening Here is that they have put a chart-based natural language interface on top of an underlying data analytics platform right so there's a data analytics platform which you have FedEd data uh now the kind of queries that you would have Pro probably gone gone to your business intelligence reporting or analytics team or maybe you have an analyst sitting there uh who kind of looks at this and creat these charts on a on a daily weekly or monthly basis what they have done is this company called AO has put a chat interface on top of it a text based interface where you can just give it a command in natural language and what you want comes out now be be I want to make sure that you understand that this is all work in progress and there is no 100% perfect solution but you see trends of where this is going and how it's going to impact right um so you don't need to write code but you can chat with your data you can create custom dashboards all of this already existed what is new is the chat B chat based interface which just makes this accessible to a much larger set inside the business organization right there's a comment from Jack we look at the positives increasing cyber crimes will likely push back AI adoption massively uh you're right Jack the first two parts of the session today are positive the third part of my session today is going to be negative and going to talk about what is the part which we should be scared about and which we need to guard against and what you need to be careful about so the negative is coming just hold on right there's another one this is um creating ads specifically for social media a lot of ads on social media look pretty much the same they follow a template um and the idea is can we um create these ads on the Fly Right without uh having to invest too much time and money on this right and can they be iteratively optimized right so you try out one version of the ad you measure whether it's a generating clicks or not and then you try out another version of the ad and you try out whether it's generating ad or not right so here is an example this is a company called ad creative and what they're basically doing is it's they're saying put your brand name in tell us the size of the image or the ad that you want what is the text that you want on your uh call to action button on the social media and give us an image and you put that in and it creates 20 different variants of social media posts it and then you can use all 20 to post them on social media see which one is doing more and then in use that more and more right so with a few clicks and a few buttons it can generate ads for you uh these are not full-blown ads that we saw in the beginning of the session today these are more uh social media ads where volume is much more important turnaround time speed uh and volume is much more important than creativity so this is another interesting one right of course this is cheaper faster and let scale um now moving on this is for software development and this is a tool called uh GitHub co-pilot right and let me kind of see if I can play this out and show you what this is uh this is the impact of AI on software development uh and the reason this I think is very important is software development is a hugely expensive and a human intensive effort with almost every company right um now what the AI Co tool does here this AI tool is called GitHub co-pilot is this one is offered by Microsoft but there are half a dozen of these now available out there and what they are doing is they are doing um they're helping the software developer be more productive right so they can suggest code completions they can turn your natural language prompt into coding suggestions and they can also write comments and descriptions on the code so let me play this out just a short video kind of show you how this works so you write the name of the function it creates the function content then you copy paste it right and it says write unit test and then it creates unit tests for this function right if you're not from the domain don't worry about it if you're from the domain you'll kind of see the power of using tools like this right so the idea is to make increase the productivity of software developers and that will uh therefore reduce the money that you're spending on software development right okay um this one is called ultimate GPT uh this is perhaps one of the most popular domains as we speak today uh for using AI for customer support building custom chatbots right so there is a solution that allows you to build a chatbot for your organization um for the purposes of customer support right and it allows let me just zoom in and let you stare at this what is going on right so this is the use case on the left hand side is the user interface where they show a potential conversation that the chatbot is serving to a customer right and on the right hand side they are giving you an overview of the fact that you can create these Bots with a user interface without writing code and it by you integrating it with your existing knowledge base your existing CRM right uh and that is uh another interesting idea which is being explored by a lot of companies uh because it not only makes the process of the customer support and customer experience better and faster uh and it it it also helps reduce uh the cost to the organization uh if you think about it this is almost like superhuman because it works Around the Clock your chat bot and it can use speak in 109 languages um yeah v a good point the last three use cases um no not only the last three use cases almost all the use cases that I talked about are actively being used you are right in the sense that the last that I mentioned are seeing much more traction but all of these are being used by different organizations as we speak today uh and that's why uh it is important for the people who are attending this course to be absolutely on top of it to know what is going on and how to apply rights okay so again we ask lots of tools lots of applications in the productivity domain uh what do we expect what are the big things to take away right the first thing is the message that we started with almost everything will be AI created right whether it's user interfaces whether it's translations whether it's blogs social media posts news articles travel liaries analyst reports games arts advertising everything will be AI created right and some of them will have human in the loop some even not that right and the impact that we are seeing and this I think reinforces the point that you are making Vin if you look at where it is being used today this is less than six months old and this is based on survey the way cxos and leaders are looking at the impact of AI they are putting them under these top four categories employee productivity across the organization and hopefully the examples and tools that I showed you um refor Force the point that this is the employee productivity is not just for repetitive tasks um you can software product development is definitely not repetitive neither is AD creation and marketing all of these are fields that were created uh which have generally been treated as one's requiring knowledge and that's why the point that I was making that employee productivity across departments in the organizations is up for graphs right customer service is a big one almost everybody today is thinking about a customer chatbot strategy both to improve the experience personaliz the experience and reduce costs R&D product Innovation uh is another big one we looked at how designers user researchers customer researchers are looking at AI to improve their R&D process and of course automation that has always been there um yeah so depending on the field that you are you need to think about where will it impact you right so the second thing is knowledge work will be disrupted this is the second theme uh whatever kind of knowledge work you are in it is going to be disrupted um the the domains that experts now believe are going to see the most impact are what we call Professional Services right whether it's strategy Consulting law Finance these are traditional Professional Services which were high-end uh Services these will have the highest impact in efficiencies Automation and Workforce reduction right now initially it will start small right so um and you will see the lowcost knowledge work for example copyrighting Outsource of copyrighting that is the one that will be replaced with AI but then you will see advertising agencies of uh adopted as the as the capacity of AI grows and we are able to do more and more with AI advertising agencies are likely to get impacted and by the time in the next three years you will see even the strategy Consultants getting impacted because a lot of that knowledge base would have been digested by Ai and you would have uh customized AI tools right you can imagine a meckenzie AI tool they can take a chat bot and train it on their case studies which is proprietary data to them and make a meckenzie AI bot available to the Services up to their customers at one/ Tenth the cost same thing with Deo right all these Consulting houses the knowledge base they are sitting on can be fed and a fine tune model can be created as a consultant um so so there you go so that expect those kind of things to happen the third trend is um that the cost of digital products will fall right now to understand the context of this um realize what has been happening in what we call the hardware or the semiconductor industry right so if you look at the last 50 years um the dominant theme that has held right Trends have come Trends have gone changes have been constant but what has held constant is mood's law right I you're not from the it domain mood's law is basically the idea that the number of transistors that you can squeeze in a fixed area is going to double every 18 months right which is another way of saying that the amount of computing power that you have uh is going at the same cost is going to double every 18 months and and that's why your phones today are more powerful than the computers which were used by NASA to land Apollo on the moon right so and the the result that is because Hardware is the chipsets that are becoming more and more powerful right so that has been a trend moves law in semiconductor or in Hardware that the cost of Hardware computation has been falling consistently right now with AI uh this is uh the reference is at the bottom here this is an interesting chart because it basically says that if you look at so a couple of things right so I want to spend a few minutes on this if you look on the horizontal axis the horizontal axis is linear which means that the chart is um every 10 years right 1970 1980 1990 so and so forth if you look at the vertical axis the vertical axis is not linear but it's on log scale right so you will see when you you go from 10 cents to $10 right and then from $10 to th000 so every space is is a 100x increase right and if you look at the gray lines and the black lines what you see is that in the last 50 AUD years the cost of CPUs the cost of bandwidth and the cost of storage has fallen linearly on this graph and linearly in this graph means exponentially in Real Worlds because as I said the vertical axis is locked so there's been an exponential fall in the cost of storage bandwidth and CPU now you look at the Blue Line the cost of software engineers in the last 50 years has been increasing right and what we are basically saying is at least this report is saying is that uh AI powered tools for software development software development then the cost of software development itself will fall exponentially right now it is a forecast you may disagree with it you may agree with it but software is just an example any other digital product whether it's a video whether it's music whether it's U um images all of these that are used by advertisers and brand marketing the cost is going to fall significantly by all measures the trends are already there if you would have seen the tools I don't think there's any disagreement that things have become much cheaper much faster uh there will always be uh a niche field for human created stuff and I'm sure that will exist but humans will have to find those niches but as far as the trends are concerned um uh that uh this is going to the costs of digital products are going going to fall um interesting comment from Vin about parents pushing their kids into software engineering um well I would this is difficult one V since I myself am a parent um I would just say that software engineering is more than writing code so there is hope there uh but you're right I don't think that we'll continue to see the exponential rise in software development salaries as we have seen in the last 30 OD years remember a linear line on this diagram is actually an exponential rise so things are changing right and you really need to think about where we will create value right um this brings me to the last part of the session that I want to talk about today as far as impact is concerned and this is the negative side of uh Ai and what we need to be careful about some of you have immed already caught on to how scary this is but U let me use these next few minutes to kind of point out why it is scary right so here are few here's the video to start with I am not Morgan Freeman what you see is not real sorry does is everybody able to hear the audio now because I know there was an issue with audio in the previous yeah we can this one is loud yeah yeah we able to hear here we go well at least in contemporary terms it is not what if I were to tell you that I'm not even a human being would you believe me what is your perception of reality is it the ability to capture process and make sense of the information our senses receive if you can see hear taste or smell something does that make it real or is it simply the ability to feed I would like to welcome you to the era of synthetic reality now what do you see okay um so I think of this as the posttruth world I heard one of my my friends using it and I thought it was pretty scary um and if I look beyond what is going on around the world I think it's a fairly good way of describing the world that we are entering you know and it reallyis some fundamental questions um about trust right um how do you trust what you see on the screen on your phone now right um how do you know who you're talking to right so this is another another issue that came to life about couple of months ago where um just like you can create deep fakes on video which you saw on the screen you can also create deep fakes of audio and there was a scam going around where you got a phone call and the person on the other end claimed to be a friend or a family member and the voice was actually the voice of the your friend or family member asking you to to spend send some money to their Google account or Google pay account or phone account because they were in desperate need and then the phone got disconnected right uh this was an example of deep fake for audio there was another example of deep fake for audio where um President Joe Biden's void voice was used to create a fake campaign ad um and that was U circulated on social media um so uh but in general this is this is scary right because you can not only fake video you can fake audio um and that really kind of challenges uh of what we perceive to be real true or authentic uh and a great Point by Anna remember that not everybody understands the world as you do today right so there's a large population out there uh where seeing is believing right where hearing is believing and this is what the negative side of AI is right and there are many example of this right so you already saw AI generated models and AI generated avatars um here's another interesting picture uh this was on social media about six months ago uh of U ex-president Trump being arrested by the police and taken to federal courts which is of course false right this was a fake image and U it was circulated on social media channels and you can imagine the social unrest that an image like this can create uh if it is believed to be true right uh so the the problem or the challenge that we need to be aware of is what you see might not be real what you read may not be true and what you hear may not be the person you think it is and that's really the scary part which is keeping a lot of regulators up at night as to how we solve this problem right um and and I don't want to scare you but uh it's really bad it's much worse than you think um because when you have personalized content which can be created faster which can in where you have much more influence uh over the viewer and you can do this cheaply you can do it at scale then you kind of get the bad with the good right um you get addiction social media addiction you get fake news you get societal polarization you get Doom scrolling you get cult creation factories Revenge Bor sexualization of kids and breakdown of democracy so it's really really bad the flip side of AI and there is almost if you have followed this domain this this discussion is going right to the top right so if you look at the the found AI Yan leun and the there a gentleman who just retired from Google they are debating this saying is this technology going to do more harm than good and and the answer is nobody knows there are people on both sides it's a powerful technology um it has the positives it handers the negatives um and that's what the beginning slide said in today's session that the biggest challenge that we have in the next three years is not the physical infrastructure transformation that we need to do that we needed to do for electricity it is not the human knowledge base where humans needed to learn how to use computers and phones um we the challenge now is the societal impact and uh how do we regulate it Jeffrey Hinton thank you V uh Jeffrey Hinton there's a debate going on between Jeffrey Hinton and Jan Le Kum about the positive side versus the negative side of AI right um so the the issue of societal impact cannot be overstated right you are basically looking at a reality collapse uh especially for the younger generation which spends hours on media online media and and the way this can explode is just phenomenal and that's why uh if you look at the if you hear the voice of the industry U 95% of it decision makers believes that this should be regulated right and um this is an interesting one 50% of AI researchers actually believe that there's a greater than 10% chance that will lead to human extinction our inability to control AI right so there is there is P I guess with power comes great responsibility with great power comes great responsibility and this is something that we need to be aware of um I can I can just make you aware of the negative side unfortunately I don't have the answers but this is where we are right and this is kind of the brief summary of The Challenge very well summarized by um yual Harari who's the author of a book called sapiens and also hodus right these is this is a powerful technology because it can reshape our thinking it can change how we think and it can change our history so scary stuff uh some some thoughts on guard rails as to how to protect against this I wouldn't say they are solutions um but these are my thoughts on guard rails right um here is the big thing that you need to kind of understand with AI um even its creators don't really understand how it works right and therefore the amount of control that they have over such Technologies is limited the key idea here is that it is not the code that you write right and there have been questions during this course about will we code and the answer is yes there will be assignments in other courses where you will code but remember don't expect to understand really how it works by coding because the code you write really does not dictate how the algorithm works that is really controlled by the data you feed them and a several people have called out during the class today it all boils down to the data that you are feeding the algorithm um that is where care needs to be taken and that's where guardrails have to be put in place uh the algorithms are kind of like a blackbox there is enough research going on to kind of see if we understand um how the black box works but from an application perspective from a practitioner's perspective which is where this course is targeted you need to think about what is the data you feed them right because that's going to influence what these algorithms do or what these AI algorithms do much more than the code that you write and that is really key to ingest and internalize right so the primary responsibility for leaders who are driving the adoption of AI in their organization will be on you folks so you are the folks who are if you are taking the charter of driving AI how you protect against the dangers that we saw on the previous slides is really going to be your responsibility whether it's about what AI project you decide to not do because it can have a negative impact what data you actually use to feed and train your customized models um who do you expose AI to as an End customer all these choices are coming your way so in some sense I'm turning around the tables and saying folks this is your responsibility okay you need to be careful of what you launch U there have been a couple of comments uh on the on the channel about using AI itself to detect AI generated content and being able to Watermark the content um both these things have been tried and have had very limited success um it has become a chicken it has become a cat and mouse game where there has been AI created to detect uh AI generate content and then a generated content creators have gone back and enhanced their algorithm so that they cannot be caught right so it has kind of become a cat and mouse game for watermarks there have been some effort to embed watermarks but uh I don't think they have been very successful um but efforts are going on in that direction right uh so on the blockchain part Emanuel that is my third guardrail it's coming it's the third third thing that we should be seriously looking at right um so that's that's uh on you the kind of prompts you use the kind of data you use and the kind of filters you use before you launch a product is something that you need to be cognizant of uh the second one is regulatory this is where the Regulators come in right uh there have been some IDE has floated around um should AI models have a digital verifiable identity um and do we need kind of like a blue check mark where social media platforms have the responsibility to kind of give a check mark saying that this particular uh ID on the platform is an AI bought or this particular content is AI generated right and then make it their responsibility to kind of make sure that this is clearly communicated to the users so that the users understand that this is AI generated do we know guard roles for marketing bodies right uh and can Auditors Regulators attach safety guidelines just like they did for um airplanes and air flights and the whole TR AO industry can we have such regulations for uh for the AI industry right uh and the third one is of course something that Emanuel pointed out there is a section which believes that the way to solve this problem is with is with blockchain Jessica on your comment are there any such regulations implemented I don't know whether they implemented or not but the European Union has come out with a set of regulations on AI uh other countries are work in progress but the European Union is I think the leader right now coming back to this there are there is a set of technologists who believe that the problem of trust for AI can be solved using blockchain right um by putting the proof of authenticity on a global verifiable digital Ledger which is what a blockchain is basically putting all proofs there right uh and so that anybody in the world can verify whether a piece of content whether it's image audio video uh is it that made by AI or is it made by human that has to be kind of of put as a certificate on The blockchain Ledger if you may right and that can also be used to solve issues of attribution of intellectual property and used for liability think of it as digital certificates for content created by AI which is global which is digitally verifiable and which is cryptographically secure so there is some interesting work going on in this space right uh I don't want to leave you with a negative mindset um but there is um uh there is a flip side to what we are doing and everybody needs to be aware of this and that's why I thought I will call that out now um it's 8 or2 the last section that I will talk about is going to be about now moving towards preparing for your assignment uh which is the second framework that I will present which is more applied um and which will help you with the assignment and hopefully make you think about how you can use it uh it's 8:03 we'll take a in my watch at least we'll take a 10-minute break uh and we'll come back in 10 minutes and then I'll present the framework briefly and then I will hand it over uh to the upgrad team to uh present the groupings that they have created and those of you who are online can work with them to optimize the groupings and if if those of you are not attending the class today uh can coordinate with them remotely okay so uh 10 minute break and we are back in 10 minutes okay um welcome back everyone let me just share my screen [Music] here okay here we go all right so um for the last part of the session today I will take about 105 minutes to present a framework um to help you work through the assignments that are being launched and as I said um then the grat team will take over and uh they have created groups uh I just take want to take a couple of minutes to explain how the groups have been created and uh what is the expectation the expectations um we will well actually let me do this right so let me just go through this finish the session explain the assignments and then come to the groups right so maybe that's the best way to do this all right so now we are coming to this part where U uh you have been giving a given a fairly good overview of AI both in terms of its capabilities its historical context its future impact lots of case studies lots of tools that you can now use so at this stage you are expected to have a fairly good idea of what can AI do right now and what it is likely to be able to do in the ne in the coming two to three years right so how do we now apply this uh how do you apply this in your organization right um and that's what I have done here I've I've taken a framework which is well understood um which is available in the public domain and I've have tried to adapt it uh to the AI world and I think it should help you with what you are trying to do in your organization right so let's get started um this is an existing framework it's called the business model canvas um the URL is at the bottom right it's a reasonably well accepted framework in the space of Enterprises and businesses so um I'll quickly give you an over view of what the canvas does and then um I won't go through there are seven or eight case studies of how this canvas can be applied to different companies uh I will leave that as references once you get the deck and then um the last thing I will do is I will show you how I suggest you modify this business model canvas to make it a AI in business canvas and that's what we will ask you to work on in your assignment right so let's start with the business model canvas business model canvas has actually got nothing to do with AI it's it's it's a generic um it's a one-page view of your organization's strategy if you may right and it starts with covering all aspects of it so the first thing that it asks you is to answer questions like identify the customer segments that your organization serves right U it for example questions like who are we creating value for as an organization and who are our most important customers right and the answers can be we are a mass Market company or we are a niche market company or we are a segmented company where we build different products and different brands or different customers and so on so forth but the key idea here is customer segments identify who pays you who your customers are and what are the different segments that you serve right so that's the first thing that they start with U second thing they ask you to think think about is what value do you deliver to your customers right so write this down so when you're actually creating the business model canvas you actually are supposed to write the answers to this and we'll ask you to do that for your organization what value do you as in does your organization deliver to your customers and what are the problems what are your customers problems that you're helping to solve to why do they work with you why do they pay you right um and if you are working with multiple customer segments do you offer different bundles of products and services and what customer need are you really serving right so value propositions can be characterized in terms of you offering something new you improving the performance of your customer you offering something custom you helping them to reduce risk or reduce costs uh and you can differentiate yourself in terms of convenience usab ility design these are all values that you can offer right so these are the value propositions that you when I say you just understand that I'm talking about the organization as a whole not you as an individual right um connecting them is customer relationships right what kind of relationships do your customers expect from you do they offer or do they expect a personalized service or are they okay with a generic uh fact kind of of uh interface right um because of course if you are a premium brand if you're a luxury brand then the kind of customer relationship that your customers will expect from you will be very different from if you are a mass Market brand right um there are some Brands who actually have virtually no customer service and the customer service is provided by the community of users right and there are products and Brands like this um and so you need to think about how you want how are your customer relationship structure and what is the cost of creating them um then you talk about channels how do you distribute your products or Services right how do you reach your customers right which one works best which one's are most cost effectives right and is there a unified way to reach your customers across different channels um then you start talking about how right what are the key activities that you do to deliver the value propositions that you deliver to your customers right what are the key activities that you do to maintain your customer relationships and what are the key activities that drive revenue and this could be anything from producing actual physical products to helping them solve certain problems uh to procreating a platform providing a platform which helps them do something um then you talk about what are your key resources uh that you need to deliver the value propositions that you deliver for your customers uh what are the key resources to deliver the custom maintain the customer relationships and maintain the revenue streams and these resources can be in the form of physical factories or they can be in the form of intellectual property for example if you have certain data sets that you have or if you certain patents or if you certain brands or there could be Finance financial resources that you provide or human resources that you provide so different kind of resources then you start talking about Partners right who are your key Partners who are the key suppliers U what are the key resources that you actually buy from your partners and what activities do Partners perform for you and then overall of course you talk about where the money starts going what are your revenue streams right for what value are your customers really willing to pay you what do they currently pay you how are they paying you how would they prefer to pay you um how much does each Revenue stream contribute right uh what exactly is your monetization model do you sell product do you charge a usage fee do you charge a subscription fee uh do you license intellectual property do you charge a brokerage fee how do you rely on Advertising right what is your pricing strategy right all these questions and finally the cost structures right where does the money go where do you spend most of your money which key resources are most expensive which Key activities are most expensive right um is your business driven towards minimizing cost or maximizing value now it seems this is a tricky question if you have not worked in business domain but people will quickly get what I'm talking about what are the fixed costs in your organization what are the variable costs are there economies of scales and economies of scope so this is what a business model canvas looks like since this is a DBA course uh the first assignment that you'll be working on is to actually fill out this business model con canvas for your organization um 10% of uh your assignments will be valued for filling out the business model canvas for your organization note that this canvas has actually got nothing to do with AI you are just benchmarking where your what your organization does right um and this is the starting step just benchmarking and understanding the big picture of what your organization is on about so in the next few slides I will not spend time on them I will flash them through they are examples of um how so okay so so there's a different model of the business model canvas called the lean canvas right um the lean canvas is more optimized when so while the business model canvas is more for existing organization the lean canvas is optimized for a startup right uh it's it's saying that if you are about to launch a business then a variant of the business model canvas is called a lean canvas business model canvas is a one page thing yeah so you can play with the font and reduce it as you can see the business model canvas I have filled it out is in one page uh and we recommend that you stick to it there is a value proposition of keeping it in one page um because if you start making a document out of it it can go to tens if not hundreds of pages but the idea of keeping it in one page is to make sure that you keep the overall picture alive so that you yourself have visibility over the overall picture now some people cheat and make this A4 size sheet and A3 size sheet and I would say that that is acceptable but you can play with the font but nothing Beyond A3 if you are actually making a page if you're using a slide then you can play with the font but the idea of having it on one single screen is supposed to be valuable because it helps you understand the overall picture right now continuing the lean canvas is is a modification of the business model canvas and is more focused towards startups uh when you are launching a business and it's similar to the business model canvas but also different uh in this case you actually start with the problem because of course you don't have customers yet um so Francis has a question um are we eventually to build out our research proposals from this analysis our current employer because then it might be better for us to analyze us to a different business so Francis that's completely your call but uh you're right that was the idea my idea of bringing this in early on in the in your in the threee course was to kind of get you uh get a kickart in this whole thinking Journey we do not require you uh we do not require you to use what you are doing here for your eventual project or thesis but of course you are free to do so um so there are some questions let me answer the question is there an editable version of the business model canvas available I am not sure you can Google it and try to find it otherwise you can spend some time just recreating the slide you'll of course make the PDF available to you um Anna ask does it have to be based on the parent company or can it be focused on the division one works in um again an I will not force this because you folks are all senior experienced folks my recommendation is to think at the organization level but if you are working for a particular brand or a product um I will leave it up to you uh if you want to do it just declare it that this is what you're doing so that we can look at it and give you feedback according right so same comment for Deepak if you are for a large and diversified dog you can kind of work on on a division of it and say I'm working on this particular division uh do we have to do both business model canas and lean convers or anyone wein any one is fine um you don't need to do both choose the one I would recommend business model canvas because most of you I expect are working in large organizations the lean canvas is more towards startups um and if you're an entrepreneur the lean canvas is the one that people recommend that you use uh here the difference is that instead of starting with the customer segment we start with the uh we start with the problem statement right because of course you don't have customers so you start with saying what is the crucial problem that you're trying to solve for your customers and it forces you to think about existing Alternatives you'll see the flavor here since you're not an existing business and you trying to launch one uh the the canvas asks you to think about how is the current problem being solved for the customer so that's where the existing alternatives is coming right um and then you kind of continue along this path and you go to customer segments and now you say Okay given that this is the problem you're trying to solve who are you trying to help whose problem are you solving and that kind of start going back to customer segments but um it then asks you to go one level deep and say uh who are the early adopters going to be for the problem that you're trying to solve in the customer segment because in the startup World early adopters of very important for Success right um it still asks you to think about the unique value proposition but the word unique props in because since you are a startup you must distinguish yourself from the existing players and therefore the focus is on uniqueness so what is the defining element of your solution right another interesting idea I've seen in the lean canvas is to um use the phrase that I am X for y right I am so you're trying to explain the proposition that you are trying to build by giving an analogy right so you can say that for example you can describe YouTube as a flicker for videos right so flicker for those of you who are not old enough was a image storage site where you could go and upload your images and photographs uh and YouTube could be described for flicker for videos uh Rohit can you keep the company name out for confidentiality absolutely uh feel free to keep the company name out if you feel that that's a confidential validation just explain um just give a reference of this is a two line description of what the organization does right and then fill it out this is more for you than for anybody else right so you can have the high level concept um then you start talking about the solution what is the solution to the customer problem uh you talk in terms of unfair Advantage which means that what is it that you have as a startup as an entrepreneur that others don't have and which cannot be easily copied right or bought because you are playing with incumbents you're trying to displace them so you must have something unique otherwise they can simply copy the idea or buy uh buy the same product or service from a technology service provider or a partner right so what gives you or your organization that you unfair Advantage right revenue streams as before cost structures as before um again as your startup you are forced to think in terms of metrics that you will track so that you know whether you're succeeding or failing right and channels as before so you will see that the business model canvas some modules have been reused and and others have been introduced uh the sequence has been changed but the idea is very similar which canvas model do we have to use GL uh I recommend by default use the business model Converse I expect most of you are working in existing organizations and the business model canvas is the default one to use as I said the lean canvas is more for startups right I don't think that um most of you will fit in that segment but I just wanted to leave that here uh and there are as I said there are several examples here for example lean canvas for Airbnb Uber SpaceX YouTube Apple um these have all been picked up from the websites that are at the bottom right where people have kind of created this as an exercise and then kind of shared it with the these are not provided by the companies themselves let me put the disclaimer these are just exercises done by somebody saying how do you think about the lean Canvas OR different organization okay this is my last slide today um laa says I fit in i a startup founder go ahead L then use the lean canvas it will hopefully help you in your entrepreneur Journey um and you can absolutely feel free to use in the the the canvas which works for you all right so I'm going to leave you with AI in business canvas you can modify to create the AI in the lean canvas um and this is is a framework that I am proposing uh hopefully think of it as an exercise that you're doing for the class but it should help you both uh in your real life in your organization as well as towards as somebody pointed out uh shaping your research problem that you're going to be working of the next few years right so here is what I recommend you think about when you think about customer segments right so I'm going to assume that you have already filled in the business canvas once you are filled in the business canvas then you ask yourself here is what I would think do you really need customer segments or can you personalize your offering for each customer right remember where we started the session today with we said personalization is going to be a theme and personalization is going to be a theme thanks to AI so I want you to really think about do you really need customer segments or can you do personalization at an individual customer level right when you think about value proposition if you work in an industry of Professional Services or digital goods and Digital Services providers I really need you to think deep about what is it that AI will not be able to do that you are doing right so it's a negative I'm saying think about does AI fundamentally challenge the value you offer and is that space going to be automated do you need to rethink what value you provide or do you need to rethink your business models right what cannot be done by AI right and that will tell you where the real value lies in the future if you work in a company which provides physical Goods or physical Services then think about the productiv ity enhancements that AI can bring whether for you or for your suppliers and partners and how does this really translate to reduction in costs for you right um when you talk about customer relationships think about chat Bots can you create AI agents to manage your customer relationships will they look like a chat board will they look like a virtual assistant will they look like a quote unquote personal assistant right and is that something that you think is valuable to you when you think about channels of delivery delivery again if you're in the Professional Services or digital Goods space think about whether AI can help you reduce your customer acquisition cost by improving the targeted reach of marketing and advertising uh and if you're in the physical Goods think about can it improve the efficiency of delivery with localized demand forecasting right can you for what your customers will need in the next week in the next 24 hours in the next one hour and in what geography and what location will they need it right this is a huge theme now demand forecasting so think about that when you think about the Key activities you do think about does AI open up adjacencies in the market that your organization should be exploring uh and also think about can whether incre can I increase the speed or reduce the cost of your Q Key activities by a factor of 10 100 or thousand and which department would you focus this on right um when you think about resources think of data as a resource right what data does your organization hold which is proprietary to you which is not in the public domain that is a key resource for you where does this data set in your organization is this data living in silos it may not be in one place different departments might hold it but when it's put together it might be very valuable and what will be the value of integrating these data sources in the organization right also think about what data sits with your partners what is the key data that your partners own and can you convince them or incentivize them to share it with yourself of course while being compliant with privacy regulations right think about how you will undertake your primary Journey who will be your partner because you will need support you will need expertise will you do will you go to one of the big four Consulting houses will you go to a tech services firm will you partner with a university or a collaboration will you get an advisor and do you need a chief AI officer in your organization if it's going to be significantly transformative think about whether the data that you own can actually open up new revenue streams for you and actually increase your top line can you anonymize and sell the data of course while being compliant and what is the cost of collecting storing and managing your data what is the cost of running AIML Solutions on top of this data what kind of computer infrastructure and human capital you need now a little bit on this this is something that I will talk about tomorrow uh which is you will start while you start working on the AI Innovation part I will start going one level deeper into the computational stack what is the hardware what are the processes what are the tools that you need to use in your organization from an AI perspective so you will start to get a handle on the computer infrastructure and the kind of human capital so that hint is coming tomorrow and in the subsequent sessions but the cost of not only collecting storing and managing dat data but also mining this data what are the kind of computational resources what are the kind of talent you need whether you will do it in-house or whether you will Outsource it right can you use a pre can you use Solutions offered by cloud service providers or do you want to build this whole thing with DIY open source free tools how will you do it and what are the risks involved in deploying an external facing AIML Solutions think about buyers think about trust uh the the negatives that we talked about how will you protest uh protect against this and about how will you ensure that your customers's data privacy is valued right um so so that's the AI in business canvas um to kind of give you a framework to think about when I'm thinking about AI where all can I use it and that will paint the big picture for you as to what this means for you and your organization uh you will not be able to do everything but as you will see the course the assignment structured is is structured in a particular way right so the first assignment that is due from you is on 25th February which is about two weeks from now right and the first thing is there are 10 marks dedicated to filling out the basic business model the original one that I showed you and you can use the business model or the lean canvas uh and this has got nothing to do with AI this is just for setting the Baseline right as understanding how business Works how in your organization right so that's 10 marks and then the second part of this assignment is to complete the AI in business canvas for your organization which is 20 marks right which is the the last slide that you saw both of them are due 25th February which is two weeks from now then the second assignment which is due on 2nd March which will be the last weekend of lectures 2 and third March the second assignment you is to create a one-page proposal for Senior Management in your stakeholder ERS with a proposal right and the proposal should talk about what AI initiative that you want to launch in your organization uh the assignment one should go a long way in helping you writing this onepage proposal so that you can explain the problem statement the business impact how you're going to do it what resources you need and how long will it take right the first assignment due date Rahul is on the screen it says 25th February 2024 the second assignment due is second in March 2024 so that's the second assignment the third assignment is a group assignment uh where you will be assigned a group and that's what we will do right after this uh slide you will be assigned a group so you will be working with your PE group uh to create a 20 minute pitch deck right where you will basically propose a startup idea uh and the rest of the class will play the role of a venture capital venture capitalist and you will be pitching this idea uh to the rest of the class to your classmates um H and the startup idea of course should have a very strong component of leveraging AI in your industry and domain and based on peer evaluation you this assignment would be evaluated um right so questions coming up how do we submit assignments I think I will let the upgrad team answer it I believe there should be an online portal where you can upload PDFs every assignment that you please upload a PDF U so that it's not modifiable assignment one will also be a one pager himansu is asking yes everything is one pager um the business model canvas is one page the AI in business model canvas is one page The Proposal is one page and the pitch deck of course cannot be more than 10 slides there's a reason I insist on one page because by constraining the space and the number of words um I'm asking you to solve I'm asking you to be very crisp right uh because the longer you go the more more you will kind of get lost so uh it's always harder to finish a shorter assignment than it is to finish a longer assignment so everything is one page uh is the proposal going to be continued till the last stage of the program that's completely your call U you can decide it it's not enforced U you're absolutely free to use it and you're absolutely free to discard what you do in this course and pick up a different problem statement for your research um there is no confidentiality that we can promise gladson so uh keep the name of the organization hidden keep whatever information that you believe is confidential please keep it hidden uh don't share it please maintain you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your employer and organization so please do not share any sensitive data and uh keep it confidential assignment 3 is on a different business than 1 plus two Francis I will yes absolutely it has to be because remember assignment 3 is a group assignment so you are working with your peers and just after the questions are over uh I will request the upgrad team to propose the uh groups that you have been assigned and I'll take a minute to explain how the groups were thought of and they are not Frozen as I said they are the group um groupings are open for the next 72 hours we'll spend 10 minutes now optimizing the groups and um if you have if you need a separate um feedback where you want to want work with upgrad to change your group the upgrad team will help you take care of it the slide deck for today's presentation as every slide deck for every session will be uploaded on the upgrad portal okay any other questions any fixed structure for one page proposal no you have the Liberty to use your one page as you feel free remember that make it as if you are pitching it to your your um to your Senior Management me is asking why was every element in canvases moving from right to left does this form any kind of fundament yeah good question um Nal the sequence in which I flashed the business model canvas is the sequence in which it is recommended to be filled out not required but it is a it it is recommended that you fill out the canvas in the sequence in which the modules appeared on the screen which one should be group assignment I am not sure Brian what you're asking do you want to unmute yourself or assignment one assignment two assignment three all of them are group activity or assignment one and assignment two are individual assignments okay only assignment three is a group assignment okay got it thank you okay PR is asking groups are formed randomly or based on some dependent features so let me hand it over to sorup surup are you there on the call yes Dr Chandra I'm there on the call yeah so pre here is the way we thought about forming the groups the idea was to combine people who come from the same domain or same industry right because that will hopefully help you also um think with your peers in the true sense of our word not only you are peers not only because you're taking this course but also you come from the same domain or industry So based on the information that was available to us um swar has taken a stab at creating groups I will hand over the session and I will move out of the session and swup can work with you to optimize the groups but the fundamental direction or the request that I had given to surup was to a combine people who come from the same domain or same industry in one group A and B make sure that the time zones are aligned as far as possible so that the group members can meet um at hours which are reasonable and they don't have to meet at midnight those are the two things that we Tred to take care of does the group vote on the industry to focus on for assignment three yes the group does the group decides jointly but as you would have heard in my previous answer the idea is to create domains which are homogeneous from the perspective of a domain or industry uh so that you naturally um are gravitating towards a particular industry or a domain right so I'll take a pause here uh so I'll stop sharing the slides why don't you stop share your grouping and then I will log off and you can work with the team to optimize the groups if people have thoughts questions concern I would suggest you um take it over from here and share your screen sure definitely thank you thank you so much Dr Chandra for this I'll quickly start with sharing my screen one second let me know once my screen screen is visible see okay so the basic idea basic guidelines that Dr Chandra gave us was uh all the Learners within the group should be from almost from the similar domain okay so we have listed out all the industry that you guys belong to and we have created 12 groups okay and there are somewhere between five to seven Learners in each group okay and uh in this slide itself I will be sharing all the details about uh so there are 12 groups we'll be sharing the name of the Learner in each group contact number email address industry that they belong to and the country that they belong from okay and uh I would request each one of you because we have somewhere around 50 48 to 50 Learners in this call right now so I am hoping someone from that group will be there on the call I would request you to take the charge and create a WhatsApp Group which will be helpful for you guys to coordinate among yourself and uh you can add me in the group as well so if you have any queries if you have any concern if you want to change the group or anything of that sort you can always reach out to me I'll be more than happy to help you with it and in between if you think uh if you want to add something if you want me to change something feel free to unmute yourself and uh let me know I'll do the same from my end okay uh starting with the first group uh we have around uh six members in this group this is going to be group one okay and we have uh Boon Jodi Kevin Leonel sudar and uh Muhammad Zed in this group almost all of them belong to the Science and Technology industry something related to technology so it'll be easier for all of you to coordinate and uh come up on a kind of similar topic so is there someone from this group one with us can someone unmute thems yeah I'm here sesna is here but I'm from Banking and Financial Services not really related to science and technology my work is yes s so Banking and Financial Services is something which is uh a little niche industry in this group right now so we don't have much people from Banking and Financial Services so we have to merge it with something which is related and technology is the most related because of course this is the program but if you still from Banking and Financial yes we have few Learners from Banking and Financial but comparatively the other groups are uh much higher but if you wish to change the group I'm always there to help you with it so s do you want to change your group uh let's take a look at all other groups and see the spread and then we I can comment so definitely definitely you can take a call after looking at all the groups so Kevin um you take the liberty of creating a group you can take a screenshot I will also share this deck uh with all of you guys okay we have numbers of all the Learners we have industry email address and also the country okay so you can take a screenshot of this I will also share the group uh I mean the pp with you and you can also extract the information from there uh Kevin will you be able to do that yes definitely sure thank you thank you so much Kevin uh moving to the second group uh we have Samuel yo Seline Emanuel philli and pin from most of them are from either education or Consulting business so we have Samuel who is into training and Consulting education training and Consulting education education okay so is there someone from this group in the call right now I'm happy to do that sure SEL uh you can take the charge of creating a group and one one more thing I wanted to add to this we also want you guys to come up to a decision of signing a leader within the group okay who will be making the submission who will be presenting the actual project because uh it'll be a little cumbersome for all of you to if all of you are pitching into the presentation so what I would suggest you is uh select as any one of you as a leader who will be presenting it okay and he will be coordinating with us and we'll be giving all the details to the upgrad team my only question so I'm I'm in Canada I'm looking at a time difference between Canada and Singapore so I don't know whether that would be ideal but let's go through the rest and see if there is a possibility because I'm looking at that and how that might impact our efficiency I I understand we have tried to uh do that from our end but we were not much successful because number of international Learners we have is comparatively little less uh but definitely we can look at all the groups and can take a call and let me know I will be more than happy to do the changes if you wanted I just want to pitch in for one question then I will log off Jessica is asking will all the pitches happen on second Jessica the answer is there are 12 groups six will present on second and six will present on third okay thanks okay so I'm gonna log off I think so you have under control I'm gonna log off sure thank you thank you so much Dr CH thanks Professor okay so first group Kevin you'll be creating the group and group two Seline will be doing it thank you so much moving to the third group uh we have Nick Sati Ronald Rohit Muhammad and gadii okay most of them are for from healthcare industry uh so we have grouped them together anyone from this group group three yeah I'm here yeah okay hi hi sa uh will you take the Li to create a group for all of you yeah sure sure thank you feel free to add me as well I'll be more than happy to be a part of it you can also sure thank you sure thank you moving to group four group four is of seven members in total so mostly again uh Learners are from ver industry majorly from technology background and uh we have one learner Sony from Banking and Financial Services okay so we have cotlin Gerard Sony Francis lakshmikant Richard and Samson anyone from this group group four yeah Francis is here now I say if there's other themes on the group because I'm more I'm so in ter of technology I mean renewable energy and then more interest in sustainability as a domain as opposed to because this grouping seems heavily on to uh uh some sort of kind of marketing technology applications just this is fris right hey Francis this is sh though I'm in the Banking and Financial Services but I'm more on the tsg domain so um which is sustainable investing and sustainable risk so I I guess uh that's way more close like our domains are closer yes so at the end of the groupings there's like a more more of us that Mak sense together because this also the time zones I call the same sentiment earlier is difficult probably exactly exactly so maybe group four sounds better for me um for because I just learned from fris that he's from sustainability domain and same I'm from ESG risk domain sure so what I'll do is uh but there'll be eight members in the group not a problem uh I'll move you to group four maybe uh sash Francis are you okay being in group four uh I mean so far yes but I don't know the remaining groups if there's a topic that makes more sense I don't know if you have a specific thing about theability later on right or design not really we don't have a specific group which is uh into sustainability or design that's the reason I have uh even group four which is slightly relatable concept but the other groups are comparatively much different for example if you put in group three this is purely to the healthare and uh genetics kind of industry so this will be too much different from the other groups let's look at what there is one more Group which is group five which is dedicated for the international Learners okay you can have a look if you want me to transfer to any other group you can let me know I'll do that for you there assignment for group three which is join group activity I think sorry your voice is breaking okay uh can you hear me now yes yes so since this assignment is a group activity right so I think it makes more sense to think out of the box of these domains and like okay because like finally all are jelling towards like some some AI based model proposal something like that right is a third assignment right we can we can actually do that par but the instructions were to keep the industry similar because uh based on the industry the thinking and the entire process and the understanding about the industry will be similar for the Learners right if I put someone who is not related to the industry at a little bit difficult for them to Jal and work on a project and come to a conclusion that's finally it's a startup idea that we have to pitch in right for assignment three no no no it's a it's a business model canvers also right startup idea is third one but the business model canvas if you are from the same group right I think we we can think in the same direction for the start IDE also right because the thinking depends on the industry as well for example can we add one more column about the domain here right maybe there are some people in healthcare they are part of a healthcare organization but they are pure techy right they they are from the IT background similarly in the it Financial also there can be techy people here so can we do that can do that I can do that from my end so while sharing this slide I'll add that column as well yeah that would be helpful sir and good comment Mano because I am from technical background uh but focusing on Healthcare yeah right so we will move to the next groups U so when your names will come up you can uh bring up this suggestion that you want to move to some other group or something else okay okay so far for group four sash you are interested to be a part of group four I'll take that as a note and I'll try to move you to group four thank you thank you my again only concern would be Vietnam and Singapore there way different time zone than Canada um not sure how that will yes I completely understand that I we have actually tried to work on almost all possible algorithms but we couldn't do that because industry is also a concern and uh we couldn't actually finalize all the Learners from the same time zones so that's why we realized that our session happen somewhere around 6:30 p.m. IST right in the evening time so what you guys can do is you can schedule something in the same time itself which I guess all of you will be able to join because you're attending the session at the same time yeah okay all you can reach out to me if you want any changes we can definitely do that uh this is not frozen yet as Dr Chandra suggested we can still make changes to this group as well okay I'll also try to optimize it a little more uh so by Monday we'll try to optimize it and uh send you a better last grou sorry can you show the next group group sure sure I'm moving to the next group uh moving to the group five again we have S uh Nan Mohammed Gan Lisa Anna and Vin okay almost all of them are from different industry manufacturing automative Administration manufacturing and entertainment uh anyone from this group yes sir okay hi asid asid will you take the Liberty to create the WhatsApp group yeah but again the same question you know why I'm Tech over here in that's the point okay so okay are you interested in moving uh to any other group yeah so so better to have a column where we can specify the expertise we have so I'll what I'll do is I'll share this group U you can look at the group and you can let me know which group you're interested in and I'll move you to that group so it will be much easy if you put a domain somewhere right so we will know okay to whom we are more uh like linked with right which people or which team members I will while sharing this PP I'll add that another column which is domain of the role for that particular person I would uh if I can make a recommendation because we did this for my MBA class is that if you can share add add a column called domain but share this group but in a shared Excel sheet that people can we can fill in the domain ourselves to provide more information and then say what we interested in and make this a two-part of thing we can fill that thing today and then have people Express their interest tomorrow because then it's hard for me to know all of what my classmates here who's in a similar industry who has similar interest even backgrounds right because yeah it would be good to have some sort of collaborative like shared edit Excel sheet going on there I understand we do we do have that detail so I will definitely add that detail before sharing this this is not finalized data as I already told you okay so we will make that changes so this is the initial group so at least we can know that who is interested in changing the group so it's a good initiative s could you put that into an Excel spreadsheet as as I think Francis someone was sharing I think it's a good idea let us all have a stab at it and whichever group or domain we want to focus on from the domain perspective from the group perspective for the assignment purpose uh because it it is different for some people for research uh thesis versus this assignment so then let us give us stab and then by Monday you should be able to analyze sure definitely I'll do that uh after this call I'll create I we already have an Excel sheet we already have filled in all the details it just need to be optimized a little more because it is just created for the internal purpose right now I'll optimize it from my end and I'll share it with all of you so that you can take a look group six I will create KK Krishna rati I'm sorry group six I will create on WhatsApp KK is speaking sure sure definitely thank you thank you so much Krishna for this uh so we'll move to the seventh group take a look at the group as of now I will share a Excel file with you all of you at the after this call okay uh so group seven we have sidhart fny parag L and rajendra country is not a challenge here because all of them are from India uh science and technology is the common industry over here so anyone from this group group seven uh I think Raj is on this group he is with me in this call um can you move me into this group this is Rahul here because I think uh me and Raj can work together and uh farag is also here sure so instead of group six I'll be a part of group seven sure definitely so Rahul right Rahul you can so I'll drop an email okay yeah Rahul correct the first one in group six sure I'll roll I'll send like roll out my email address in the chat box so whoever wants to change just let me know I'll do that from M can comment here um group one is also this is Kevin here um group one is also Science and Technology but I I'm actually not in the Science and Technology I'm actually in training and education so um actually grp group two is more relevant to me uh so I was wondering whether uh I could switch to group two because um I'm not in the a relevant industry here can you you can do that just drop me an email I'll give my email address at the end of this call just drop me an email I'll do that okay so someone can trade in to go into science and technology for group one I will at group two thank you so much what I'll do is I'll collect all the requests and based on all the requests I'll find it so when you'll be sharing the shared Excel spreadsheet just put the last column as desired group and we can all opt for there so you don't need to receive everyone's email and then you can just filter by desired group as a last column and then we'll just opt ourselves where we want to fit in yes that that is actually a better idea I'll do that actually you can share the Google sheet right now right you could share it as public you can click the share button you share it as public and give us the link and yeah so I do have the Google sheet but that needs to be optimized because there are a lot of other information also that's why I'm holding it as of now okay as soon as I'm done with this call I'll share the slide Google sheet with you all of you that's that's good yeah uh moving to the group eight yeah Sid here my number is not correct here group seven last digit is missing U it's a four I I add it from my it seems it'ss I'll okay moving to group eight we have amod abay Jessica chot and narender okay almost all of them are from Finance industry uh you can I will still create the sheet that Rohit suggested I will share it with all of you uh you can can look at this slide I will also share this slide with you you can look at this slide and if you're interested in any other group you can simply uh just add your desired group in the Callum okay and accordingly we I'll go ahead and do the changes from me so this this slide is just for your reference as of now you can take a look at this and U you can take a call which group you want to be so can I make a request that someone else creates group one since um I'm I'm not relevant to group one I think there's no no issues no issues Kevin I will ask someone else to create it that's okay group is the secondary part it's just uh the FI anyone from we don't need I think we don't need to create WhatsApp group now once the strad then we can create a group from one of the group member Yes actually so don't create the group as of now let me send an email let me finalize the group so by Monday hopefully we'll be having the final group count and final group details after that I'll connect again with the almost all of you and we can create a group okay uh moving to the next one we have group nine okay we have Deepak moin Raj vsha minil anit and Manoj again same goes to you guys as well I will share the sheet with you if you are interested in changing the group you can update your desired group just update the group number group nine group 10 or group what four five just one request if you are from India if you're from the domestic batch uh please do not mark it as group five until group five all the Learners are from International the cohort ID is different so we'll not be able to move anyone after group six to any group before group five okay so for all the international Learners can you repeat what you say I am repeating it so all the international Learners you can select anywhere from group one to group five for all the Learners in domestic cohort you can select groups between group six to group 12 no but but my I am from International I'm from USA my name is not yet yes group I'm sure your name is there in the upcoming groups yeah but but I think the country is wrong then I'm from USA uh this is based on the batch that you have you are in if you're in a domestic batch by default your country will reflect as India okay but I wanted to change it to USA right I can't um it is hard for me to know to connect every day there is a different process for that I would request you to send us an email we will explain you the process how it works MH sure sure moving to the next group groups these are the final two groups parto utpal vendra shrikant Ajit and Rajesh Kumar is a part of group 11 monalisa pites Vishal Arin gladston and PR a part of group 12 uh yeah hi this is PR I think the same problem with me as well I am from Singapore and uh even from the beginning I had initiated email multiple times uh because this badge issue but what I have been told is that now it cannot be done and if let's say uh uh I have to uh I I have to take it forward then I think there is some Financial aspect which will be involved like in terms of fee changes and all other thing and additional pay and then later I had a big big discussion then what I was told that now I I came to know that International and domestic learner are on the same call but what I have been told is that International learner they have a different schedule different batches all together so that's why the Fe fee structure is different because I had a big discussion with an this an angel and all other people I told them that the platform is online the professor are same then why why you are not considering this request to change the group so that you know the time zone can be adjusted then that was the final response which I received that no International they have paid a different amount so so that that is not like I don't want to focus on that but the thing is what I have been told is that the structure the professor the session are different uh there is right and previous slide I'm sorry can you show the previous Slide N sure answering your query PR uh that is actually right there are a lot of other aspects to it uh you are only seeing one part of it I would suggest you to write as an email again Loop me keep me in CC my I'll drop my email address as well in the chat box uh we'll take that discussion forward I don't want to take the discussion uh in the live session yeah that's right that's right yeah yeah so end of the day we just want to sort it out actually see see I I understand simple yeah and what I believe is what I believe is the group which is being formed right now that is going to be uh till the last right this is only for this assignment this is not be this is only for this okay okay okay fine yeah okay okay yeah Krishna I like do you want me to be on the screen do you want to take a screenshot or something oh it's done okay great so I guess I have flashed almost all the groups is there someone uh whose name is not reflecting here in any of the group is all groups are finished now I'm sorry uh total 12 groups are there total 12 groups are there okay perfectly fine so actually I'm having some another work so I'm leaving right whenever can elaborate I have one more qu so in the the group 12 the people who are there they are like the the the domain the industry is totally Diversified like so so like all are from different most of the time like software media in it then tourism infrastructure I so so talking about thep 12 right yeah yeah yeah that is because uh we couldn't actually manage like put all the Learners in the other groups because the capping was for six learners but we have extended to seven Learners also for some group but if you're interested in any other group uh I will take that request I will have a word with uh Dr Chandra because Dr chandra's instruction was to limit the group to six members only but I think if this is a challenge we might have to extend the group number of Learners to more than six Learners and we can do that I'll have a word with Dr Chandra and get it done so this is just the basic outline of the group group how the group is done I will share the Excel sheet with all of you as discussed I will also add another column to it uh which where you can update your desired group and I will do the changes from my um can we drop off is there anything else can I drop off from this call now or is there anything you want to disc yes you guys can drop off from this call I will share the Excel sheet with I I have another question regarding the ID card so uh if there update on the ID cards so I opened a ticket last week and uh it was mentioned that it will be action sometime next week but I'm just curious that is there any update on that uh yes sash so basically uh there are two parts to this okay uh the Learners who have articulated from a different program from the DBA program based DBA program they already have their ID card that form for the ad card has been already sent uh with their last batches detail for them they have already received it for you if you haven't articulated from any other badge we haven't rolled out the form yet so we will be rolling out a form where you have to fill up the details and after that you will be receiving the ID I think the form is already roll out for filling the details by ID card but not yet received anything uh have you articulated from a different batch parag say again uh like have you articulated from a regular DBA program to the Gen no no no J and you have received the form yeah I have received the form I have submitted all the required fields in that case I will have to get it checked because uh the last time when I had a word with the ID card team they told me that they haven't roll out the form yet and they will be sending the form to us and we will be rolling it out from our end I guess there is some confusion in that don't worry it's a December batch I Cort to I okay no then that is different uh this is I'm talking about goad 2 which is December back which is again December batch not the cohort one okay yeah I'm I'm in the C I don't even have a form but how do I get a form through card so we will be rolling out the form we will be rolling out the form to all the learners for cohort 2 which we haven't done the form when is when is the plan to roll the form out because we're in week six of the program right yeah that's question we haven't received the form so there is a different team who deals with the ID card with the university directly we haven't received the form from that team yet and uh they intending to send it by next week okay so as soon as we the form's going to be okay so if the form's received by next week what is the what is the expected time for us to receive the ID cards now recall you are the interface for all of us with whatever is happening in the background right so I don't think anybody here is interested in the teams or um who does what or who didn't do what right I think ultimately I'm interested in when are we going to get the ID cards not all of the steps involved in getting the ID cards okay so Richard by next week you will be having the form and it'll take somewhere around 15 days for you to get the ID cards like uh so I received an ID card on my email so again have you articulated from a different batch or you are from the base GBA program program for me same even I received on my email I'm also from this C too okay so I guess there is some me some like you know we have received it a soft copy not the hard copy or something we not be getting the hard copy glad so it is only going to be a soft copy so we red this discussion last last week with the University where University Al also clarified that they will not be sending this hard copy it is only the soft copy that they will be so the issue date I think it's kind of November yeah yeah same for me I wanted to ask that why is that like we started on December 31st like I think like you know we we I think we enrolled back in October like you know for me so maybe you know that is a reason I enrolled in December okay this is something that needs to be checked because uh I am not actually the right person to check all these details but I will take the charge of this okay give me some time uh give me time till Monday I will check all the details and will I will get back to all of you I will send don't why don't you circulate a sheet of who have received who have not received and who have received you know so like you know it would be helpful for you and as for us you know I am working on that I am working on that but we don't have that as of now but give me time till Monday just to clarify just to clarify SW um so if you're saying that we're not going to be getting like hard copies or physical ID cards um then I received my ID card via email right so is that the only ID card that we're going to because I understood from the chat that you were going to go back to the university like a lot of us spent a lot of money on this program all right and you know even just having an ID card like I attended undergrad you know I'm aging myself here 30 years ago I still have my University ID card that's something you know that I just have um as you know a record of of attending University so I think from the perspective of just having um a physical ID card like I don't think it would be a cost issue from the University as to I just don't understand why they're not issuing you know the physical ID card yes Richard I completely agree with your point and I am with you we actually had a word with the university as well but this is something which university only will be able to take a call now being a third party upgrad we will not be able to take a call on this uh we already had a word with the university but uh they will not be able to share the hard copy of the certificate but we are still having conversation with them that is not final yet that is the reason I haven't rolled out any communication regarding in the hard copy of the ID card if you remember last time I told you that I will be rolling out an official communication and I haven't pulled out yet uh because I am still waiting for some more approvals because some there are some more ways where I can try to get it done for you guys but uh until and unless I don't have an approval from the management to from the University I will not be able to give you any confirmation on that s but so far the discussion is uh that it is only the soft copy but I'm trying from my end as soon as I have the confirmation I will definitely roll out an update with all of you what is the sender ID for the soft copy of this ID card I'm sorry your voice is not that clear what is the sender email ID for those hard sorry soft copy of this ID card soft copy I don't have that update as of now with me because I'm I'm not the anyone who has received the soft copy can you please tell me that sender ID in email I didn't find it so it will be from upgrade the center name is upgrade and the email is certificate qy certificate.com thank you so much Mano for that so if you guys can search within your mailbox can can I'm pinging here so give me time till Monday there is a lot of things that I guess I have to check with the ID cards team and I'll take the responsibility I'll give you an update by Monday laders so SW I have a question de side uh regarding the submissions of the assignment one and two so I just heard but I'm not sure if I heard that correctly so that has to be in the PDF form uh and will be uploaded through the upgrad app right correct so platform M the same platform where you access your recordings and all those things where the new modules are updated every week we will be updating a new module for the assignment okay there will be a submission page where you have to go ahead and submit your submission and that is going to be in a PDF format right so uh will there be some instructions how to create I mean the font size Etc like Professor uh pul uh explained uh some of the like you know maybe edits can be done across the framework uh but will upgrad be you know sharing some guidelines around it is there some SP yes definitely so that is going to be a full-fledged module which will be giving you all the details about the assignments how you're supposed to submit the assignment what is going to be the format what is going to be the font and all the reference material that Dr Prof Chandra will be sharing with us so all those details will be there in that okay thanks that helps any other question anyone yeah so you are going to share the Excel file of the groups detail so I think one of the suggestion which was which was given in the same call that was like before you submit can you just add the domain one I think that is going to be helpful so before you share please add the domain and whatever information you have for the respective candidate uh about domain please update that right so that is going to be helpful for everyone yeah sure definitely pleas uh I will update all the details the designation domain and everything from my end I will roll out the form that's the reason I am not rolling it out right away because I want to optimize it and update all the information that we have with us so that it'll be easier for all of you to make a decision and select a yeah and as for can we have a rubric for the assignment yes even the rubric will be updated in the module itself okay so by you can expect it by Tuesday by Tuesday you will be able to see that module live on the platform okay with the deadline and all those things and and the rubrics and everything will be updated on the perfect okay any other question anyone yeah s share your email address and phone number so sure sh my email address I have a question suru about the grouping yes is it going to continue the same grouping for the next three years or in between there's a chance to change because is not going to be the same this is only for this particular assignment Whenever there is a requirement we'll take a call of either keeping the same group or if you like are changing the group as of now this is only for this particular assignment okay it's good thank you did you put your email ID already I don't have your email ID I have sent it make it to everyone it's in the chat I I mean can you make it to everyone I don't think you have done it to everyone I have just shared it with everyone thank you thank any other question anyone possible to share your WhatsApp number as well possible thank you here's my WhatsApp number and also there is one more spot I guess you are aware about akh so you can also reach out to AK she will also be able to help you out with the details okay I'm sharing her number as well she's only the spot for the domestic Learners uh so only the domestic Learners can sharing her any other question anyone for this group presentations are there also other guidelines like whatever was discussed in this session uh makes sense but at least something like you know more to additional information like how we will be connecting or like we will be like create obviously you said create WhatsApp groups but uh some time some additional guidelines around it like you know how many slides will be there or because I don't find any other additional information or you know things around it so not so slides about the slides Dr PR Chandra discussed that that you're supposed to keep it up to Max 10 slides okay yeah and regarding the coordin part we don't have the guidelines yet but if you want I can definitely create some guidelines and update it in the module yeah please because I think uh uh something coming from professors what is exactly expected out of us like how many slides each person will be contributing like there are six people in a group and contributing 10 slides is it fair enough at least a person will be submitting two slides no yes so that slides one slide will not make sense so that guidelines will be shared on the platform basically there will be a group leader okay based on the contribution the marks will be divided we are yet to take that call Dr PR Chandra will be taking that call okay becomes a subject topic specific and individual group spe I don't think you can have a strict guideline there my feeling yeah basic guidelin be updating it what is the maximum number of slides that you can use on all those things but again it is domain specific and Dr Chandra will be taking a call on that yeah so various parameters fall under it right the grading especially matters here right now because the person who will be taking charge and people who will not be audible I mean will not be speaking out uh how does it vary accordingly so please be little specific on it is what I am looking forward to yes that will be updated so I I'll give you the details about it so basically all based on the number of groups let's say we have six members in one group out of that one learner haven't contributed at all haven't done anything or he's not active in the group except that there are other four members who are active in the group so the marks will be equally divided among the four Learners okay okay and the clear instructions and guidelines will be updated on the platform regarding this okay thanks yes Francis you had a question I guess I was like in that case wouldn't it be better to just have smaller groups of two to three people at that point oh I'm sorry I said at that point wouldn't it be better to have smaller groups of two to three people instead uh the problem with the smaller group is uh we only have uh two days Saturday and Sunday for the presentation if we increase the number of group uh the time will be comparatively much lesser for you to make a presentation that's the reason we have limited it to 12 group on but then in some cases you are putting more than seven people in one group right so how how you're going to judge that okay all six or seven people has contributed in that so and that's only one one person will be presenting the idea right right so that's where uh there will be a proper presentation where you you will be updating who all contributed what part in the presentation and you have to update the details of the contribution that has gone into uh the presentation from each of the group members so the the group leader will be taking care of that so the group leader will be updating all those details so there will be a clear guidelines and instruction will be sent to all of you regarding the group assignment who will be the group leader and all those things okay does that answer your question parak yeah any other question anyone um so so time being we won't create a WhatsApp group correct no no you don't have to create a WhatsApp group for a time being so we will be rolling out the Excel sheet once we have once we finalize the group which most probably we'll be doing it by Monday or Tuesday okay once we have the final Group after that we can you can create a WhatsApp okay or maybe I can also create a WhatsApp group for M groups okay thanks when will you be sending the Excel s so after this call I yeah after this call I want to optimize some more information once I'm done with that I'll send it to you so you can expect it in in an hour or two okay all right perfect okay sure any other question expecting to receive email or are you be updating in the portal that we need to keep an eye on the I will send an email I will send an email to all of you also along with that I'll also update it on the board okay ging thank you surea also if you can message would be great it's done kind of stuff I'm sorry V the WhatsApp also you can message is done would be great yeah sure definitely you yeah find out I've articulated but I still don't have my student card um and also I want to find out the dates the travel date um is is it's going to happen this year or is going to happen next year uh regarding the articulation Samson we don't have the final dates yet and uh we'll be having that dates also by next week so once we have the final dates only after that I'll be able to Ru out an official communication on that uh the tentative dates as of now is going to be somewhere around uh November or December November December right November or December end of this year so is this about the uh Workshop you're talking saru uh no I'm not talking I'm talking about uh the desertation workshop that we'll be having uh which location location is not yet finalized so we will be having the details we have a meeting next week with the university and all the professors once we have the final confirmation after that I will be sharing the details with right thanks okay all right thanks any other question anyone okay good thank you so much everyone this Workshop same as the immersion 5day immersion yes I see okay that's thank you I'm sorry I used the word desit desertation Workshop it's not a desertation workshop it's the immersion that I'm talking yeah that is why I got confused when you desertation I thought like no it's not the workshop it's emotion emotion okay yeah okay thanks sir thank you thank you so much everyone have a good day thank you by Everyone by bye all
