[Music] welcome welcome welcome to day four of 40 days of Faith over the past couple of days we have been exploring the reasons for faith that we found in Hebrews chapter 11 before I go on I want to God that is what faith was originally for and we found that in Hebrews chapter 11 let's explore that that that chapter and see if we can find more more things these men and women of Faith use their faith for and any time I read the accounts of this men and women um in Hebrews chapter 11 a trend begins to arise let me see if you would see what I saw as I read it Hebrews 11:4 says by faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice verse 7 says by faith Noah being divinely warned of things not yet seen moved with Godly fear prepared an ark for the saving of his household verse 8 says by faith Abraham obeyed when he was called out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance and he went out not knowing where he was going verse 9 says by faith he dwelt in the land of promise as a foreign as as in a foreign country verse 17 says that by faith Abraham when he was tested offered up Isaac do you see the trend yet okay let's keep going verse 20 says by faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come verse 21 by faith Jacob when he was dying blessed each of his sons or each of the sons of Joseph and worshiped leaning on the top of his staff by faith Joseph when he was dying made mention of the departure of the children of Israel and gave instructions concerning his bones verse 23 by faith Moses when he was born was hidden 3 months by his parents because they saw he was a beautiful child and they were not afraid of the King's Command verse 24 says by faith Moses when he was of age when he became of age refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter choosen so by faith he chose rather to suffer Affliction with the people of of God people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin verse 27 by faith he Moses forsook Egypt not fearing the Wrath of the king verse 28 By Faith he Moses kept the Passover the Passover verse 29 by faith they the children of Israel passed through the Red Sea as by dry land the children of Israel passed through the Red Sea as by dry land whereas the Egyptians attempting to do so were drowned verse 30 by faith the wall of Jericho fell down when they the children of Israel and cycl it for seven days notice all the verbs they moved they he they refused they chose they forsook they kept they encircled these are verbs everything that these men and women did was was an expression of their faith everything was powered by their faith everything was backed by the impetus of their faith everything was backed by the force of their faith faith is for obtaining a good report yes Faith pleases God but Faith should be the impetus the motivation the power behind our actions Faith should be the power behind our actions anything we do outside of faith is going to displease God anything we do outside of faith is going to be displease God and anything we do outside of faith cannot be executed effectively and sustainably because it is not done in faith we are only reading of these great things that these men and women did because they did it in faith because they did it in faith that's why we're reading about the wall of Jericho reading about the Red Sea because this men and women did it in faith what are you doing in faith that the generations coming will read about we hear about and that will be an expression of your faith in fact let us read some more great things that were done in fath let let's let the book let's let the Bible preach this Hebrews 11: 31 says it was by faith that Rahab The Prostitute was not destroyed with the people in her City for she had given for she had given a friendly welcome to despise just by faith how much more do I need to say verse 32 it would take too long to recounts the stories of faith of Gideon of Barack of Samson of jeffa of David of Samuel and the prophets by faith these people verb overr kingdoms verb ruled with Justice verb received what God had promised them verb they shut the mouth of lions they quenched the flames of fire and escaped death by the edge of the sword their weakness was turned to strength they became strong in battle and what did they do with the strength in battle they put armies to flight women verse 35 received their loved ones back again from death others were tortured refusing by faith they refused to turn from God in order to be set free they placed their hope in a better life after Resurrection some were Jared at and their backs were cut open with whips others were chained in prison some died by stoning and some were swn s soed in half others were killed by the sword somewhere some went about wearing skins of sheep and goats destitute and oppressed and mistreated the Bible says this in verse 38 they were too good for this world oh oh can that be said about us can we live such great lives of faith that the Bible says you you you're too good for this world so they were too good for this world all these people earned a good reputation we're back again because of their faith if you and I want to do anything of eternal consequence it must be done in faith if you and I must do anything of Eternal consequence it must be done by faith want to start a business started in faith want to get married get married in faith want to pursue that degree pursue it in faith want to switch career paths do that in faith want to write a book do it in faith want to host a podcast do it in faith want to launch a church do it in faith it is faith that gives Eternal weight and eternal significance to what we do even the Bible cannot be understood without faith the Bible says in Hebrews 11:3 by faith we understand that the walls were framed by the word of God by faith we understand by faith we understand why don't you understand the Bible when you read it it might just be you're not approaching it with Faith by faith we understand we will not be able to understand how God operates if we don't have faith the word and the ways of God will make no sense and no comprehension to without faith engagement with God is done successfully when it is done by faith faith is the impetus for doing exploits how does a man Moses lead a million people across a desert Faith H how does a woman Ruth stick with her mother-in-law who is too old to Bear any sons for her to marry but somehow end up in the lineage of Jesus Faith how does a man name man suffering from leprosy obey an instruction to deep in a river seven times and comes out the seventh time with baby skin how does that happen faith faith is the impetus it's the motivation it's the power for doing great things for God of Eternal significance Faith enables obedience Faith helps us to push through difficult times Faith empowers radical obedience and submission to God any action that doesn't have the backing of faith is not going to be sustained it's just going to disappear over time dissipate over time it will have no Eternal significance so what are you doing with the faith you have now some of you may say I have very small Faith you cannot do great things what are you doing with the little faith you have now what are you doing with the faith you have now what are you doing with the great faith you have now Faith is not for Passive spectating yes you were saved by grace through faith yes awesome yay yay you read your Bible yeah pray awesome but what great things what is your part in God's Kingdom Agenda what is your part in in extending the kingdom of God what great things are you doing faith is not for Passive expectation it is for active participation in God's agenda in God's agenda in this world Faith helps us to play our role in God's plan on the earth so what are you doing with your faith what are you deploring your faith for because it is in deploring our faith that we grow with we we grow our faith in deploring our faith that we grow it um faith is impetus for Action faith is impetus is the force is the motivation is the power behind doing things that have eternal significance sustainably sustainably everybody repeat after me I live a life of faith my faith can be seen by my faith filled actions my faith can be seen by my faith-filled actions my faith can be seen in my obedience to God when things are tough my faith can be seen in my obedience to God when things are tough God is pleased with my life of faith God is pleased with my life of faith everything I do is done as an expression of my faith in God everything I do is done as an expression of my faith in God faith is the impetus for exploits of Eternal significance I hope this blessed you I hope
