Insights on the Decision-Making Process

is there anybody here who is in the process of making an important decision about could be business could be family it could be relationships and let me finish the question and you have already thought your way through what the advantages you've done sort of a contrastive analysis so they go down this path it has this advantage okay so you've already done your homework your due diligence you've already considered the consequences short and long term of the various possibilities and they're at least let's say there's three of them three or four is there anybody who fits that description okay you had your hand up for us okay so this is something of an overlap with what vicky and i just did what i want you to do is to take your time how many how many you got three three three possible futures three possible decisions you could choose yes okay so i'd like you to put one sort of off your rear left shoulder okay i'll put it over here um and i i want you as in the case of vicki to develop the most high fidelity images and sounds you're capable of of you over there doing that fully committed congruently pursuing that line of future okay okay shake that off just make sure you're nice and clean no that's a that's option a ancient option b do the same thing about the same distance take your time breathe nicely develop the images of sound or option b he automatically does the appropriate thing and guess what she's right over there so he does the same thing for the third option the third possible future experience decision okay okay so by the way you notice i'm not looking at them i apparently i'm totally focused on it once again i want you to i want to remind you that a deep operational understanding of your own physiology neurology and biochemistry will serve you more than any other single thing that i can direct your attention to i'm using perforation because peripheral vision works better to detect movement and i'm watching for movement so if i look straight at you i'll be able to make fine color distinctions as your face flushes etcetera etcetera but if i'm looking over here i'll be able to see changes in your breathing i'll be able to see movements of your body and the quality thereof in a way that's superior that if i look directly at you so it's a simple little thing and so if i'm negotiating between two parties i'll probably never officially look at either one i'm going to look dead center because i don't really care what he's doing i don't care what she's doing i care what the reaction on his part is and what she's doing and vice versa and i can see the interaction if i look in the center and let my fair provision take that information in in general peripheral vision feeds your unconscious phobia vision feeds your consciousness you'll notice if you have spontaneous internal dialogue it typically is about what you see in poker vision not what you're seeing so these are little organizational principles that can make your life more pleasurable among other things so study your study your physiology study your neurology and the underlying i mean i was absolutely delighted as i think i expressed on the first day when um the mirror neurons were discovered and the fact that he named them the same name that we'd use for the strategies which we discovered in the 70s okay now this guy this guy's trained up this guy has spent serious amount of time martial arts he's physically very clear he understands the importance of calibration you can't do advanced martial arts without having that deep appreciation so what i'm about to do with him will not disorient him in a full sense it may other people if i had a blindfold i'd put a blindfold on him but i'm going to trust him to keep his eyes closed sorry that's a good question okay so here he is he knows he's got a he's got b and he's got c so what i'm going to do is add some closest eyes and i'm just going to turn around spinning this way for a while and maybe back and introduce some disorientation okay so let's stop right here okay now i want you to stand there and i want you to sense the tug of one of these three options this is your unconscious ability to vote on which of the three it would most congruently support when you feel a child or you hear your name call from a certain direction i want you to slowly begin movement in that direction take your time let your unconscious develop a nice strong pull and then when you're satisfied you know which way the pull is i want you to slowly move in that direction and continue in that direction if that is where you sense the target and i'm i'm monitoring you so that there won't be any obstacles okay you're halfway to wherever it is do you know which one it is yeah okay you're fine yeah it says hey okay open your eyes do were there any other competing stimuli you noticed so now does this mean he has to do a no what it means is that a is both his unconscious is voting that and saying i will support a commitment to a as your decision which is important no it's not the end of the game if for example consciously he really wanted b where he wanted c he would go into a negotiation model which is one part of the presentation for this coming week whereby an unconscious is voting on x must get a and his uh his conscious mind says no no i really want to do b now becomes a negotiation between those two parts and the typical consequence of a well-run mediation between these two parts is an incorporation of some features of b let's say with a and an actual new more integrated decision about the future he will approach and pursue emerges so the fact that it's it's critical in my opinion if he runs after c let's say and his unconscious is going no a a his effectiveness is going to be sharply reduced in succeeding with c on the other hand if you go through this process you know what the vote your unconscious is so you know if that happens to coincide and is acceptable to you consciously you know where you get if there's still a split then you go into this negotiation model which i promise you will be part of the events in this country okay thank you thank you this is called i mean you
