The one who attains true faith can defy the entire universe for the world becomes too narrow You are above all creation for Allah has bestowed some of his attributes upon you He appointed you as His steward on earth Use this power with Allah's permission tear through the veil of matter and embark on discoveries within the spiritual realms but your heart is ailing your ego is strong your desires intense and complaints frequent Do not fear you will be freed from all of these inshallah to ascend on this journey you will need two wings know that you cannot fly with only one wing now leave the world behind and embark on a journey to realms far more beautiful than this one fulfill your promise now turn your face toward Allah in the name of Allah the most compassionate the most merciful a believer in Allah Almighty and the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him is entrusted with three primary duties to uphold Allah's commands to refrain from what he has forbidden to avoid coveting what belongs to others to work honestly and be content with one's own state throughout life humans navigate within the lines of commands prohibitions and destiny one cannot escape these boundaries once one's outward behaviour aligns with Allah's commandments three inner duties begin a person should turn inward to their true essence to their heart the soul as an advocate of goodness must reckon with the ego inclined toward wrongdoing encourage goodness adhere to the commands of Allah and his messenger conquer personal desires and avoid deviating into innovations obey do not split into divisive and flawed paths uphold the unity of Allah never associating partners with him exalt the truth do not accuse it do not waver in the face of truth but affirm it stand as brothers harbor no enmity among yourselves never despise honesty constantly seek the path of truth and its travelers working tirelessly waiting patiently and never falling into despair gather together on the straight path love each other without letting animosity come between you abandon wrongdoing repent sincerely never repeat a mistake keep both your inner and outer selves clean do not stray into the ill fated dark swamps adorn your spirit with devotion to your Lord remain at his door without turning away keep your repentance firm seek Allah's mercy day and night without growing weary it is possible that through this path you may ascend from the swamp of worldly desires to the elevated realm of the soul union with the truth lies on this path where peace Serenity and safety reside such as a sanctuary of peace filled with every kind of mount every unseen delight here you will eat and drink to your heart's content without ever tiring of these blessings in this place your companions will be the prophets the truthful ones the martyrs and the righteous may Allah grant us all this fortune TESTING AND TRIALS when a person faces a difficulty they first try to overcome it on their own when this fails they turn to others for help they seek out kings plead with the influential turn to the wealthy visit the pious and request prayers and blessings if sick they go to a doctor seeking a cure when all these efforts prove futile they return to Allah if a person could solve their problems independently they would not turn to others and if they could find a solution through others they would not turn to Allah at this point one's desire to resolve the issue may start to wane yet they have nowhere else to turn so they stand still pleading praying and praising Allah they recount their needs humbly begging for help amidst this they face rejection experience joy then tire of the situation they may believe their supplications and please are useless eventually abandoning everything even prayer waiting in a pure state at this stage divine destiny unfolds Allah's decree manifests and what is meant to happen comes to pass one perceives Allah's power in everything they realize that movement stillness whatever exists originates from him with an insightful vision they see that all goodness harm, giving, receiving, abundance scarcity, life,death, honor and disgrace all come from the truth recognizing this state they resemble a child in the hands of a nurse or a lifeless body under the hands of a washer unaware of themselves Allah acts as he wills and like a ball in motion they are involuntarily rolled right or left adapting to this state they become like a chameleon changing colors performing no action for themselves or others they see nothing except Allah's work hearing and perceiving only for him if they see or hear something it is for him they are nourished by his blessings and find joy in his closeness they become peaceful calm and find tranquility in every state with the truth they find comfort in his words shunning everything else always drawn to his remembrance desiring to remain in this state feeling elevated in this condition they draw strength from Allah trusting in him and find their path illuminated by his light of knowledge they dress in his guidance and are adorned with various forms of knowledge they find honor through his might hear from him draw closer prey and remain in this state do not covet the possessions of others free yourself from dependency on what others hold the desire for selfish gains will begin to die thus no inclination toward any evil remains in you as all of this is made possible through Allah's aid with his help you reach a life from which there is no death afterward this wealth you gain will never be exhausted what is given will not be taken back and your peace will not be disrupted you will not be deprived of any beloved you will not forget what you have Learned nor will you fear the end with this new existence you transcend into an entirely different realm a realm of endless and boundless bliss your sovereignty never comes to an end it never reaches a conclusion here you are only honored never humiliated this is because you now possess integrity and truth dwells within your essence what you speak is the truth and what you do is righteous you have become a unique gem and entity that is one with the one united with unity the secret within the secret the hidden within the hidden is this not enough in this state and realm you are deemed a representative of the prophets the secret of sainthood is completed in you some of the abdal spiritual deputies and saints embody your form every affliction ends with you every need is met through you rain falls at your wish plants sprout and flourish with your affection whether King Shepherd Imam or congregation you ward off calamities from them all you are henceforth the governor of people and lands hands come to aid you feet bring gifts to you tongues begin to praise you this all occurs by Allah's permission and not even two people can find a single word to speak against you oh Allah who bestows so many blessings and favors all of these are from your Grace and kindness the world with its condition trap and deadly poison is given to those who are attached to it if you view the world with its apparent beauty and heedlessness do not be deceived its deceit kills those who touch it instantly there is no loyalty in it do not admire it by looking at it with a favorable eye be like this a man in the desert completely naked answering the call of nature both his private parts are visible and an odor emanates you are forced to pinch your nose and close your eyes this is the state of the world to free yourself from it both close your eyes and hold your nose bind yourself to the world only as much as you need but do not love it in your heart whatever your portion is it will come do not be distressed leave people leave them by Allah's permission give up your desires by his command a verse in the Quran states if you are believers put your trust in Allah and trust yourself to Allah's actions and will if you do what has been mentioned you will become a vessel for divine commands leaving people means believing that there is no good or harm in their hands nor can there be it is possible by seeing all power in Allah affirming his might without seeing anything in the hands of people as for looking at yourself it means being for Allah and discarding causes see no action of your own do not boast in your strength or power in this state do not despise yourself or detest your own essence submit to the Truth act in accordance with his command know well that Allah is the one who creates everything both at the beginning and the end when you were an unknown entity in the womb he nourished you and brought you into this world and again when you lay in the cradle unaware of everything it was he who protected you reflect on this former state and place your trust in the truth annihilation before divine manifestation happens in this way one must be devoid of any desire when you do this every wish gradually begins to die your once disappear then your will begins to fade only after this does the divine manifestation envelop you you have no other purpose nothing can govern you but the desire of the truth your heart is calm your body is at ease your soul is spacious and your face is radiant everything withdraws its hold on you you are solely occupied with the creator you are enriched by the presence of the truth in this state the hand of power guides you the eternal voice calls you the truth teaches you knowledge clothing you in diversity from the eternal knowledge you receive a portion your heart becomes open wickedness cannot linger there every evil dissipates within it and your being fills with the desire for the truth thus various miracles manifest through you those states appear from you but are actually from the truth in this way you join the ranks of the broken hearted for the sake of Allah these are referred to as the humble servants regarding these esteemed people Allah Almighty says I am with those whose hearts are sorrowful for my sake this is a sacred hadith for a certain time your state will remain thus time passes many things you once lacked the seemingly harmless desires that the world regards favorably you now attain our prophet peace and blessings be upon him pointed to this condition saying three things were made beloved to me from your world women fragrance scent and prayer that soothes my heart until all your vile desires and ambitions are broken the truth will not be with you once these desires vanish nothing remains within you neither goodness nor evil stays neither reason nor thought remains leaving you unable to choose anything you exist in a state between existence and non existence he causes you to die and revives you a new he brings forth a new and different will within you and with that will you desire every wish when you reach this state and all your desires align with it Allah Almighty takes the illusion of self that you have attributed to yourself and he annihilates you in this state you finally become part of the community of the broken hearted in this station wise actions unfold unbeknownst to you and gradually your ego begins to dissolve in this way the journey reaches its end and you attain union with the truth realizing divine meeting every action is completed after all all efforts were for this purpose this is the true meaning of the broken hearted let us clarify the phrase remaining existence mentioned above its meaning is a state of complete tranquility and composure that is entering the state described above and attaining full maturity within it to explain this further let us listen to what Allah the exalted through the tongue of his prophet peace be upon him says my servant draws near to me by worshipping me and I love him when I love him I become his hand with which he grasps his ear with which he hears his eye with which he sees and his foot with which he walks he performs his actions through me another narration says he hears through me grasps through me and perceives through me this state begins only with fauna the annihilation of the self this task is not difficult it is sufficient to leave the people people consist of both good and evil you too are in such a state being both good and evil do not desire goodness but hold fast to the truth and leave everything else again divine destiny includes both good and evil until you attain this state Allah protects you from evil and cast you into the sea of goodness then goodness becomes your essence you attain every kind of blessing you become a source of tranquility peace pleasure and ultimately all beauty Fauna Muna and mubtada are separate stages of Sufism these are the final stations for saints turning towards them is a direction sought by the saints and the abdals of the past so they could surrender their will to Allah and act according to his will this is why the travellers of this path are called abdals to convey this meaning their sin is associating their personal desires with Allah's will essentially they do this out of forgetfulness they are captivated by a spiritual state and fall into awe during this time they lose themselves by succumbing to their desires they associate partners with Allah then a divine clarity comes to them Allah's mercy awakens them from their state they realize their mistakes seek forgiveness and repent and Allah accepts their repentance for only angels are free from desire prophets are free from evil not from will all other responsible humans and jinn are neither free from will nor from evil however saints are preserved from evil desires and the abdals from will though they are not infallible this means that they may sometimes lean towards something small and then Allah out of his mercy grants them the right path again the hearts ailment abandon your ego and distance yourself from it relinquish the dominion that you attribute to yourself and surrender everything to Allah standing as a guard at the gate of your heart allow only what Allah permits into your heart and do not let in what he forbids once you remove ill intentions from your heart do not approach them again removing these satanic desires from the heart is only possible by continually opposing and refraining from them desire nothing outside of Allah's will seeking anything other than him is an empty wish foolishness do not fall into such a desire you will be destroyed ruined and distanced from Allah's mercy Uphold Allah's commands to the end avoid what he has forbidden until the end and surrender entirely to his destiny do not associate any of his creations with him do not commit shirk your desires ambitions and passions are all among his creations do not desire them do not succumb to vile ambitions or to lust lest you become a polytheist the verse states whoever desires to meet his Lord let him do righteous deeds and not associate anyone in the worship of his Lord Shirk is not limited to idol worship following your personal desires and whims by considering them influential is a form of shirk and idol worship if you give preference to any love over the love of your creator whether it be the worldly gains or the rewards of the hereafter you commit shirk discover a boundless existence do not restrict yourself to fixed measures if you can find yourself within a defined frame what you once declared as true might prove to be false and what you said would last might vanish follow Allah's will and interfere with nothing speaking based on insight and knowledge you may say things but when the opposite occurs you will feel embarrassed and humiliated in such a state you have one more duty to keep your state concealed and not to let anyone else know of these things this is the state of complete perseverance and endurance know that these are gifts given to you by Allah and ask for his help in showing gratitude be careful not to show them to others if these states fade and are replaced by another do not be saddened there are also various blessings knowledge and wisdom within it that you may not yet know it increases your wisdom and teaches you discipline and etiquette a verse in the Quran states we do not aggregate a sign or cause it to be forgotten except that we bring forth one better than it or similar to it do you not know that Allah is capable of all things do not belittle Allah's power do not question his judgment and decree do not doubt the truth of his promises take the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him as your example some verses that descended upon that great man and were written in the scriptures and recited on tongues were removed others were changed and some new verses came in their place at times what he conveyed was later reversed yet outwardly it appeared this way we accept this only as a matter between him and Allah alone referring to this state the Prophet peace be upon him said my heart changes states for this reason I seek forgiveness 70 times a day in another narration it is 100 times the Prophet would constantly transition from one state to another advancing towards maturity and attaining the treasures of the unseen world he was adorned with various spiritual beauties as he rose in ranks he realized his previous imperfections counted remaining in the limited state as deficiency and sought forgiveness he also instructed his companions in seeking forgiveness for indeed it is the duty of a servant to be in a state of repentance and seeking forgiveness and what suits a person most is to be in a state of repentance and forgiveness the resolve to abandon all evil doing once and for all has been inherited from Prophet Adam peace be upon him to the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him and from him to us darkness had enveloped Adam entirely at one point it was then that he sought forgiveness and afterward the darkness cleared and light filled everywhere bringing salvation for once he had forgotten the covenant he assumed he would remain in the abode of peace eternally thinking that Allah the merciful and generous would not expel him from paradise angels continually greeted and praised him for seeing a bright future for him thus he succumbed to his ego and forgot everything the situation changed he was stripped of that beautiful adornment his kingdom was taken his rank fell that luminous realm was suddenly plunged into darkness and his former purity was lost after losing everything he understood the origin of the matter remembered the great purity he had once been in acknowledged his forgetfulness and mistake and urged himself to seek forgiveness oh Lord we have wronged ourselves and stained ourselves if you withhold your forgiveness and mercy our end will be ruined in response to his repentance and confession paths of guidance were revealed to him and he was informed of what deeds he should perform hidden lights of knowledge and previously undisclosed goodness were imparted to him within that repentance in the end he became convinced everything I lost will be restored to me through repentance everything changed his desires took a new shape his state transformed a grand sovereignty arrived first he gained supreme sainthood in this world followed by the hereafter the world became a home for him and his descendants while the hereafter became an eternal refuge and sanctuary oh believer in Adam and Muhammad peace be upon them there are beautiful examples of friendship and love for you always recognize your faults repent and seek closeness to Allah when you are in a spiritual state do not desire anything else whether lower or higher seek no other station when you reach the gate of the sovereign do not immediately desire to enter wait until you are forcibly admitted you must be taken inside against your will do not simply settle for a mere permission to enter it may be a test perhaps you are being tried by the sovereign do not rush wait until you are compelled to enter when entering in this way and when entering the palace in this manner no one will rebuke you rebuke only comes after a mistake once he brings you inside himself there is no fear you are not accountable for the actions of the sovereign but only for what you do of your own will you face reproach only due to the consequences of your own actions at this station what is harmful to you is to act according to your own desires lack of patience disregard for etiquette and dissatisfaction with your state are all behaviors that will not benefit you when you are granted entry to the palace lower your head avoid letting your eyes wander perform every service and duty given to you with discipline and manners do not desire to rise higher turn your eyes away from the sight as the verse states they were tested by the adornment of women as worldly allure the sustenance your Lord has granted you is both more beneficial and lasting Allah the exalted teaches his chosen prophet etiquette through this verse thus he commands us to maintain our state and be content with what is given the abundant blessings I have given you the sovereignty of Islam and the struggle on that path are the greatest blessings for you they are better and more beautiful than what I have given others all goodness lies in knowing one's limits and being content with them and refraining from coveting anything that belongs to others or being drawn to something else for what you look at and desire falls into three categories first it may be your destiny second it may belong to someone else third it may belong to neither you nor anyone else as Allah may have created it merely as a means of testing if what you see is indeed destined for you it will come to you whether you strive for it passionately or not whether you desire it or not in this state striving and acting in ways unbecoming to proper conduct do not befit you when assessed by the measure of knowledge and wisdom such actions are not favorable if that thing is someone else's destiny do not strive for it why because it will never come to you and that thing may be destined for no one created as a trial and temptation given this how could a wise person desire such a trial for their own ego or long to draw it upon themselves in summary all peace and goodness lie in preserving a spiritual state and not exceeding one's bounds whether you are in a small confined space or open expansive areas both should feel equal to you strive to maintain your state and your conduct as described above bow your head be very courteous and perform even more virtuous tasks for you are closest to the king thus your faults are the quickest to be noticed because of this the danger for you is even greater do not wish to rise above or fall below your current state seek to remain stable enduring do not attempt to change the nature of your duty you have no authority to do so if you do you would be on the path of denying blessings which brings disgrace to its owner in both this world and the hereafter strive to perform what has been explained to the fullest eventually you will reach a state where there is a station designated for you and you will not be separated from it you will understand that this is a gift from Allah the proof and clarity of this state will be evident knowing this you will work to maintain that state there are states for the saints and stations for the abduls and Allah will grant you guidance revelation and witnessing are open to Allah's beloved and to those among the Abduls a manifestation appears that astonishes minds and abolishes formalities this manifestation is divided into two types the manifestation of Allah's attributes of beauty and majesty Majesty also carries the meaning of grandeur the manifestation of these attributes is often burdensome overwhelming inclined towards harshness and intensely shakes a person although this state occurs in the heart it sometimes extends outward becoming visible and audible this state was reported by a narrator from the Prophet peace be upon him who said in prayer a sound can be heard similar to the bubbling of a cooking pot this sound emanated from the heart and its being audible outwardly is the revelation of divine majesty similar phenomena were also narrated concerning the Prophet Ibrahim peace be upon him and has Rat Umar may Allah be pleased with him as for the manifestation of the attribute of beauty in this manifestation the heart is filled with light and becomes joyful in this state the heart finds peace this manifestation softens the person filling them with love and Serenity you will attain blessings you will hear beautiful words spoken here you will listen to fine speech here alongside this glad tidings of exalted gifts will be given to you here and it will be conveyed that you have been raised to a high rank this is a station in which from this point on the servant has no involvement everything is bound to the eternal decree the pen is lifted and whatever is allocated begins to unfold Allah proves his Grace and mercy according to one's capacities this state continues until the moment of death which is the appointed time of passing after this even more is revealed the veils are lifted and one ascends higher and higher the reason why this does not happen fully in the world is to prevent the love and devotion to Allah from becoming a danger for them otherwise this love and devotion would exhaust their strength they would be overcome and unable to fulfill their worship however they are obligated to worship until they die the fact that this manifestation does not occur fully in this worldly life and that complete manifestation is reserved for the next world is a sign of Allah's mercy in this way he heals the hearts of his beloved nurtures them and manages the material and spiritual realms together he is the one who knows intricacies and makes judgments he is also the one who does not withhold his Grace and mercy from his servants a narration describing these states has been transmitted from the Prophet peace be upon him when he was somewhat occupied with worldly matters he would say obilal bring us comfort call the Adhan so that we may rise for prayer he said this to witness the beauties we have described he also said prayer is the delight and joy of my heart the self and its conditions are manifested solely by Allah the exalted who exists amidst all these burdens afterward the ego approaches and you are present on the field as the one addressed the ego is at first opposed to Allah yet in the end everything finds joy in submission to him given this if you oppose your ego in obedience to Allah you become an adversary to your ego for Allah's sake Allah the exalted said to Prophet David o David strive to devote your constant strength to worship as an enemy to your ego oh believer if you also do this and remain in this state your servitude and devotion to Allah will be correct your provision will come easily pleasantly and favorably you will be honored and respected and everything will begin to serve you to Revere you for they are bound to their creator and you are his beloved servant they were created by the truth and they acknowledge this as Allah the exalted states in these verses there is nothing that does not glorify Allah though you do not understand their glorification he said to the heavens and the earth come willingly or unwillingly and they replied we come willingly the foundation of worship is opposing the ego Allah the exalted said do not follow your ego for it will lead you away from the path of Allah he also said to David oh David abandon your ego for it always stirs up conflict a narration from by Azid Bestami recounts by Azid upon reaching divine manifestation in the spiritual realm asked oh my lord how does one come to you he received the answer abandon your ego and come by as he responded I have abandoned my ego just as a snake sheds its skin I have shed my ego I saw that all goodness and beauty lie and forsaking it if you are in a state of piety always oppose your ego remove the existence of people from your heart do not expect anything from them do not be indebted to them do not place your trust in them do not cast your eyes upon their worldly possessions let neither their kindness delight you nor their harm grieve you do not await their charity or recognition if you have a wealthy relative do not wish for his death to inherit his estate truly remove people from your heart see them as doors that sometimes open and sometimes close as trees that bear fruit sometimes and not at other times attribute all these matters to a single actor and accept the Providence of a single administrator know that this actor and administrator is Allah and you will succeed in addition to what has been described do not deny the efforts of the servants otherwise you would fall into the Creed of the Jabria if you reconcile both you will escape the Creed of Jabria
