Hey, I'm Olivia von Tempo. I'm from Atlanta, Georgia, and I am the vice president of membership. I'm Macy Johnson.
I'm from Fort Worth, Texas, and I'm the president. I'm Amy Yambrick. I'm from Tennessee, and I'm the primary chair.
Welcome to CAPA! One, two, one, two, one! Ever since I stepped into CAPA during my recruitment experience, I truly felt at home. I felt like I could always express myself, and during my freshman year, I got involved in exec right away. I got to work with new members and truly just fell in love with building relationships among the child.
and leading to me being president now and I really just love getting to work with girls like the other people on exec while also building relationships throughout the chapter and meeting everyone and truly inspiring. people to be themselves and get involved. I think for me one of the things that made Kappa so special when I came through recruitment freshman year was just how authentic every girl was when I came into the house. I remember the first round that I came to Kappa, it had completely torrential downpoured the entire afternoon and Panhellenic had to work with all of the chapters to restructure the rest of the afternoon. I remember coming in the back door when I traditionally should have gone through the front door and the girls were lining this room.
smiling and cheering and the second I got into my first conversation here I felt extremely welcomed. I remember all of those nerves just going away. My team and I, we put on all the events that Kappa has throughout the semester. One of my favorite events that we had was our Sapphire Ball date night.
This was really fun because it was the first year we We were able to put it on as a chapter, as a lot of chapters all over the nation do this event. And it was fun. All of our members wore black, white, and blue dresses. And we gave special gifts to our seniors.
And that was just a super awesome event to see everyone together for the last time. I also work with our philanthropy chair. This past April, we put on our 5K for Cappy event. This event is a 5K we put on in the morning in honor of one of our past members.
Captain Williams who passed away from bone cancer in 2020. This event was really special to our whole chapter because it was all of us, several chapters on campus, and a lot of members of the community all came together for our 5k event. Welcome to CAPA. Our members work hard to uphold our values of friendship, leadership, and scholarship.
My committee and I honor each week at chapter a member who we believe uphold these values within the community, our sorority, or their education. We are very proud of our members and all the engagement they have on campus and throughout the Athens community. Hey, I'm Maddie Mertens and I'm from Atlanta.
I'm passionate about sports photography. Right now I'm working for USA Today Sports and I get to photograph a whole bunch of professional sports. like the Atlanta Braves and the Atlanta United.
Also, I am a photographer for the Georgia Football Creator Team, which is super fun. And my sisters in Kappa support and encourage me every step of the way. They follow my photography page, they like, they comment, and they understand if I have to miss a date night to go to a ball game. Hey y'all, I'm Savannah Serafini, and I'm from St. Simons Island, Georgia. Some of you may know me as owner of For the Shell of It, which is a small business that I started last year as a senior at UGA while also being a member in CAPA.
The friends that I made in CAPA and the chapter as a whole were so incredibly supportive during the start of my small business journey. They were placing orders themselves, telling their family and friends about the product, and allowing me to be a vendor at our spring philanthropy event, the CAPA Crawfish Boil. Overall, I'm just so incredibly thankful for the relationships that I made in CAPA that I know that will truly last a lifetime, and the support that I felt not only as a small business, owner but as a member in general. Hey my name is Anna Kate Black and I'm from Houston Texas.
Before coming to UGA field hockey has been a huge part of my life and so I knew that whenever I got to UGA I was gonna play club. So while it's been so fun to meet so many new faces on the field hockey team what's been even more fulfilling has been seeing the ways that all of my Kappa friends support me playing on the team. Whether it's holding up huge signs for me and screaming a little too loud at games or even just like bringing me home dinner whenever I have a late practice. Papa friends have really pulled through. and supported me in ways that I can't even ask for.
Hi, my name is Kendall Stevens and I'm from Cumming, Georgia. I'm currently a rising senior. At the conclusion of my senior year of high school, I committed to being on the cheerleading team. Although, for as long as I can remember, this dream of mine was also accompanied by the ability to be in a sorority. Throughout recruitment, I was juggling many things with trying to balance both of these commitments and a bit overwhelmed.
But the minute I walked into Kaplan, I felt welcomed, loved, and supported. Although the fear of only knowing a few girls in the chapter seemed daunting at first, the minute I made this decision, I gained the biggest support group I could have ever imagined. From my very first game day between the hedges, to going the extra mile and helping me in balancing my cheer commitment, education requirements, and social activities, I truly could not have been accompanied by a more supportive group of girls.
As I head into my final year, I can confidently say that CAPA has given me the group of girls that I've shared my best and worst moments of college with. And my ability to continue to live out my dream of cheering on the dogs has only been made possible by the everlasting support I gained the minute I walked through the door of CAPA. After being on the other side of this process as a sophomore last year, I knew that I wanted to get involved as a leader.
And now as a primary recruitment chair, I've loved stepping up. and being able to lead this chapter during this process. I remember being very nervous starting this crazy process, but instantly having that feeling of relief, just as Olivia did when we walked into CAPA. I'm so excited to make meaningful relationships with all of y'all and hopefully make y'all feel just as comfortable as we did walking into CAPA and maybe find your new home here.
If I could give you guys one piece of advice, I would say just be confident. This process is all about you and finding your home, so just go into each house each round with confidence, be yourself, and you truly will find the perfect place for you. If I could give you one piece of advice as you go through recruitment is to remember that each member that you speak to has been in your shoes before. And so we understand how nerve wracking it can be.
So just take a deep breath, relax, and you'll find your forever home like I did here at Kappa. One piece of advice I would give is to... be open-minded and trust your gut because this is a very personal process and each house is working together to make sure that each P&M finds their perfect home. My piece of advice going through your recruitment is to find the house that makes you feel most at home.
Going into recruitment can be super nerve-wracking but I remember when I walked into CAPA for the first time I knew I'd found my home for the next four years. We are all so excited here at CAPA to meet each and every one of you and we can't wait to see you in August.
