Strategies for Confident Team Management

in this video I am going to teach you how to manage a team confidently and effectively So if you are a manager or leader and you want to manage your team with confidence make sure you stay tuned Now I have managed many teams in the past both small and large I have managed teams of four people 20 people and even teams of 66 people Now regardless of the size I would always use four important steps to manage my team confidently and effectively And in this training video I will teach you what those four steps are so you can manage your own team with confidence And just very quickly if you are new to my YouTube channel please make sure you hit that subscribe button and also give the video a like I really do appreciate your support Thank you very much Okay let's get straight into the training Now whenever you manage any team regardless of its size you must always demonstrate the three C's Confidence consistency and communication You must be confident in your decision making You must be consistent in your actions So that means you must treat everyone in the team equally no favoritism And finally you must communicate regularly and clearly so everyone in your team knows what is expected of them So make sure whenever you manage any team regardless of its size you demonstrate those three C's confidence consistency and communication So in the next section of this training video let me teach you those four steps you must always follow whenever managing a team of people Write these down and refer to them regularly as a manager or leader Here we go Managing a team Step number one is to always set clear expectations This is very important Now whenever I am managing a team I will communicate three things Number one the team's goals Number two each team member's responsibilities And number three the standards I expect from everyone So for example at the start of each working week I would set my expectations I would call a quick team meeting and I would say something like this Hi everybody welcome back from the weekend A quick reminder of our combined teams objectives This week we need to complete projects A and B deliver excellent customer service and also launch that new company product Mark your task is to answer all customer emails within 60 minutes of them coming in Jessica I need you to welcome all customers who come into the store and ask them if there's anything you can do to assist them And Muhammad I need you to start promoting that new company product to our email database and also on social media Is everyone clear on their duties and responsibilities and the standards we need to work to so that is a brilliant example of a brief where you confidently communicate the team's goals each team member's responsibilities and the standards expected It shows you to be a confident team leader or manager who is in control Managing a team Step number two is a very important one and that is to make sure you provide regular feedback Now whenever I manage a team I provide feedback on great team performance as soon as I see it but I also make sure I address any issues or areas for improvement immediately So for example I once noticed a team member spending time in their work break training a new member of staff It was great to see So I said to them there and then "Thank you for helping train the new team member Your dedication is very much appreciated." Now when you praise good work it encourages more of the same Now conversely I once noticed a team member was a few minutes late for work one day So I said to them "Can I have a quick word in my office?" They sat down and before I said anything to them they apologized for being late So I told them there and then that punctuality was really important and I asked them not to make it a regular occurrence Now if I would have ignored that situation it would send a message to the rest of the team that being late is acceptable and that's not a good way to manage your team Always tackle low work standards or problems as soon as you become aware of them Managing a team step number three is to focus on team training and development Now as a manager and leader you must invest in ongoing training coaching and professional growth opportunities for every member of your team So I used to conduct performance reviews with all team members every 6 months So I would sit down in private with each team member and discuss their achievements career aspirations and also their plans for the next 6 months work So I would also ask them in the performance review what they felt they needed in terms of training to take their work performance to the next level And also if someone expressed an interest in eventually gaining a promotion I would help them I would allow them to shadow me on specific days so they could develop the leadership skills they needed to achieve their career goals Now when you focus on team development and offer training and coaching you will make your team feel valued and you will be empowering them to reach their career aspirations Managing a team Number four is to make sure and this is very very important You lead by example Now I can remember once I had a boss in the early days of my career who was in my opinion unprofessional He would go out drinking with some team members and give certain individuals more opportunities than others I didn't respect him Now as a manager and leader you should always model the behavior attitude and professionalism you expect from each member of your team Make sure you demonstrate accountability fairness empathy when required and commitment in your daily actions Okay so there's four brilliant steps you can implement to manage any team effectively Now if you want to accelerate your learning even further you have two options Option number one is to watch that video where the link is Watch the video right here on YouTube and I will teach you how to speak like a confident manager and leader If you want to take your learning even further then please make sure you get access to my management skills masterass This is a brilliant online training course that will teach you everything you need to know to be an outstanding and confident manager and leader To get access lifetime access to that course right now click that link Thank you very much for watching Don't forget to connect with me on LinkedIn I have put my LinkedIn link in the description below the video Have a brilliant day
