Introduction

  • Computers have parts similar to body parts in humans.
  • Each part of the computer has a specific function.

Monitor

  • Looks like a television.
  • Used to display movies, cartoons, and the work done on the computer.
  • Everything typed or created on the computer is seen on the monitor.

CPU (Central Processing Unit)

  • Known as the brain of the computer.
  • Stores and remembers information.
  • Follows orders like starting the computer or running programs.
  • Looks like a box.
  • In laptops, the configuration of the CPU is different but it serves the same purpose.

Keyboard

  • Contains many keys for different functions (alphabet, numbers, special characters).
  • Has 104 keys.
  • Used to type letters, numbers, and write special characters such as commas, full stops, and semicolons.
  • Comparatively, calculators and mobile phones have specific keys/buttons for their functions.

Mouse

  • Resembles a real mouse in appearance but with a different function.
  • Has two buttons and a scroll wheel.
  • Used to scroll pages, draw pictures, and play games.
  • Example game: Tux type.

Printer

  • Used to take printouts on paper.
  • Widely used for printing worksheets and assignments.
  • Often available at homes and offices.
