Estimation and Costing
In this note, we will discuss some important terms related to the civil engineering subject "Estimation and Costing".
Site Plan
- Site Plan is the plan that shows where your construction (structure) is to be built.
- It includes the following information:
- Location of construction
- Nearby important locations such as:
- Schools
- Colleges
- Roads and highways
- Airports
- Dimensions: The correct measurements of the building are displayed.
- Scale: The scale of the building is also included in this plan.
- Direction: It also shows the direction the building will face (e.g., facing north).
- Water Supply and Drainage System: Details about water supply and drainage at the site are also included.
Index Plan
- Index Plan is a plan created for better alignment.
- It not only indicates the shortest path between two points (such as A to B) but also shows whether that path is beneficial or not.
- If there is a large market or commercial area at a third point, it might be more useful to construct the road in that direction.
- This plan demonstrates a better alignment for connecting two points.
Summary of Important Points
- Site Plan and Index Plan contribute significantly to the construction process.
- Site Plan includes location, important nearby locations, and the construction direction.
- Index Plan illustrates better road alignment and its beneficial aspects.
Keeping all these points in mind is essential when planning any construction.
