Rivian Software Update 2025.10 Insights

welcome to another Rivian Treker software update review video Today we are going to be talking about Rivian software update 2025.10 What 2025.10 really does it brings generation 1 vehicles kind of into parody with generation 2 vehicles plus a couple of improvements and new features and a lot of bug fixes So join me as we review 2025.10 [Music] 10 One of the biggest pieces of feedback that I've received as I've been reviewing these videos is "Hey Jose can you please kind of tell the difference between what's available for Gen One and what's available for Gen 2?" And I think that's only fair So we're going to be starting to talk through the release notes and I'll just mention what generation uh the feature or whatever I may be talking about will be for for generation 1 owners I'm pleased to share that some parody has been brought over to Gen 1 with features that was available in Gen 2 For example smart turn signal has now been introduced for generation one vehicles Now if you're curious what smart turn signals is is if you're on a highway a predetermined mapped road that uh usually you would use enhanced highway assist for or whatnot you will now be able to if you're not using highway assist and you're just driving manually and you put your turn signal to turn lanes over the lane marker signal will now automatically turn off once you've made it over to your lane This kind of reduces the ability of accidentally leaving your turn signal on um while you're driving So kind of a really neat feature Additionally something that was introduced in the last software update for generation 2 has now arrived for generation 1 and that is the GoChime I'm going to insert a clip after I finish talking here of what Gochime looks like on generation 2 It's identical to generation one but pretty much what GoChime does is that it will alert you when the vehicle in front of you starts moving So if you're at a stoplight and there's a car in front of you and that car starts moving but you're not quite paying attention to what's happening in front of you you will hear a ding and it will let you move Now at as of this time the go is not compatible with a traffic lights but this is something Rivian has stated will be coming in a future update where it will alert you of traffic light signals and inform you uh when to start moving in that scenario So this is really exciting because now these features are kind of in parody They exist for both generation one and generation 2 Okay we're at a stoplight here There's a car in front of me The vehicle detects it I'm going There's no one behind me So uh we're going to go ahead and test the gochime to see how it reacts when I don't move but the vehicle in front of me starts moving So um yeah let's see what happens here Let's give it a moment Bear with me as we try this in real time I have not done this yet so I don't know how it's going to react Did you hear that little chime that was exciting So there's no visual alert It is just a sound alert that you hear Um I'll try to get it Uh we'll do it again at another light here and I will be quiet so you can hear it But uh yeah there's no visual sound just a a ding really really cute ding For both generation one and generation 2 Rivian has brought some gear guard improvements and enhances Previously with Gear Guard if you had motion cam enabled it would really only detect if like a person got near your vehicle Uh but with the GearGar motion cam improvements and enhancements that have been brought with this software update both generation one and generation R1 vehicles will now be able to detect objects as well as vehicles if they are uh detected by the motion cam This will help in scenarios where maybe someone backs into you in a parking lot when you're not there and you accidentally you know don't see it until later Uh this will help you with scenarios like that Now Rivian does spec specifically call out that this is not designed this is designed to be an assistive tool So just something to be aware of I want to read exactly what it says here It says "This feature is subject to limitations It may not capture all events and it may generate false positives and the video quality is not guaranteed to be able to really identify a vehicle should it happen Uh this feature is intended to provide supplemental information and should not be solely relied upon for legal purposes but it is really cool now to be able to have this feature where it can detect vehicle um activity while you're away and motion cam will capture that The next one's a little hard to really show on video and you're just going to kind of have to try it when you get 2025.10 10 But Rivian has made some ride uh ride comfort improvements for both generation one and generation 2 vehicles Specifically in low speeds when you're driving over bumps whether it's speed bumps or driveways or parking lots you know when the road just isn't necessarily straight instead of I'm going to try to demo this but instead of like all the movements you know you're driving and everything kind of like moves around Um what really is what this is designed to do is kind of help improve and make it less bouncy and less bumpy So you'll notice definitely a more smooth ride as you're driving in low speeds Like I said it's really hard to explain in video You just kind of have to try it yourself But I can tell you that I personally did try this and there was a substantial difference previously with running the previous software update versus running 2025.10 in that I noticed that you could definitely it was it was smoother and that was just me leaving my driveway for example or entering into a parking lot you know kind of where the road dips a little bit and you're like you would have that like motion when you're coming into the thing I know it's really weird to explain but I promise check it out It has drastically made a huge difference And it's crazy that Rivian can make uh substantial changes like this to the suspension through a software update Truly really is the future of a softwaredefined vehicle And as a reminder again that is for both Gen One and Gen 2 R1 vehicle Now let's talk about additional improvements I have my trusty iPad here uh with a list of all the additional improvements because there's no way I would be able to remember this off the top of my head But pretty much here's what Rivian has introduced for both generation 1 and generation 2 videos If you're a a Series XM fan dual stream support is now available for live sports games Uh Rivian has now added the ability to scroll through larger Apple Music playlist This is super exciting because I know previously if you I think the maximum was either 50 uh I think 50 songs and you would reach the end and that was the end and there was no way you could do it But now it goes much further than that and you can scroll through a much larger subset of playlists on there Um there's also some Alexa improvements uh which added direct Siri XM channel playback so you can ask her to play uh a channel by name or by number Um Rivian has also fixed an issue that prevented Wi-Fi from self-reovering without resetting the infotainment system Fixed an issue A lot of people brought this to my attention where the rear display if it was locked the time would not match with the actual time in the real world in the front screen specifically That bug has been fixed Uh additionally improved vehicle wake responsiveness when the vehicle is not in its assigned home location Uh if you live somewhere cold I know my friends in the Pacific Northwest are excited about this one Reduced level two charging time in below freezing temperatures What would typically happen is the vehicle would either not charge or charge at a super slow speed because it was so cold out Now the times for charging via level two have been reduced So that should definitely help uh be able to charge your vehicle in those below freezing temperatures Uh for generation two vehicles they fixed a calibration issue that caused parked dual standard vehicles to display a greater range than the actual range uh loss So let me read that again fix a calibration issue that caused parked dual mo uh dual standard vehicles to display a greater than actual range Uh let's see here Reduced vehicle range loss in some cases when 12volt battery has a low state of charge Very great to know about that 12volt batteries tend to be the keyless heel of electric vehicles for some reason So anything to be able to help prevent um or be kind of alerted of 12volt issues is a great uh tool in my opinion Uh improved the response times for phone key unlock and unlock Uh for generation 2 they reduced the intrusiveness of unbuckled occupant notifications because boy howdy getting alerted when the seat belt is unbuckled is just insane and it drives me bonkers uh constantly even if you just have heavy boxes or something back there Uh let's see here Fix an issue that would disable Android phone key functionality and require repairing So that's a great great news for uh Android users Added notifications for critically low tire pressures That goes really nice handinhand with the real time tire pressure updates that were introduced in the last update where if you have like a puncture or something and the the tire is losing pressure quickly the vehicle will like kind of alert you that hey something's wrong with your tire so it doesn't become kind of a surprise later And then uh for generation 2 they fixed an issue that prevented version two of the power tunnel cover from opening in some cases Now some other things that were not included in the release notes for uh this but I've noticed is that responsiveness overall has improved dramatically across the different apps on the Rivian center screen So as you're switching through um different screens you will notice that it's much faster I'm going to show you I'm going to flip the camera over I'm going to show you what I mean by that So here we are We are looking and I'm sorry for the stability I'm holding it with my hands but you can see here the map We're on the map and I'm going to switch over to music So now there's still an issue where just tapping is a little difficult but Roofing says they're working on that But if I switch to music that opens up pretty quickly And there are my music If I tap this boom that comes up super quick Responsive is nice Energy has always been one that took for a long time That has worked great settings is also nicely opening up now quickly and it's everything seems to just load pretty instantaneous except for that image but we'll we'll give it uh we won't be too difficult if we go into camping mode Camping always just takes a little bit longer there because I think it's all the graphics but still much better Gear guard There's your gear guard opening everything up So as you can see for the most part now a bunch of people have said Jose one of the biggest issues I have is with HVAC When I click on that HVAC to change the temperature or lower or whatever it just takes a long time For example if I tap here that just took a little bit too long And sometimes it actually takes a little bit longer It was actually quite nice this time It wasn't too bad but that initial click sometimes takes too long I've reached out to Rivian about that and Wasim and the team have definitely said that that is something that's coming in the next software update improvements So that's really great to hear But overall responsiveness has gotten great I'll never forget one of the issues I had more recently Uh if I come here and go here to my maps and let's say I'm going to go to Costco for example I would have a navigation here running right and I would switch over to music and you know find something else to put on and I would toggle back to navigation and all of this would kind of like crash and reboot and do some weird things I'm very happy to report that bug has also been fixed So these are the general uh kind of fixes they're doing without even telling us that it's happening So 10 out of 10 for Rivian great responsiveness overall and this is the type of thing we want to keep seeing happen in every software update And that's it I hope everybody enjoyed this pretty quick uh review of 2025.10 Like I said it's not a substantial update with a lot of exciting features but incremental little features I know Rivian is going to continue to try to work at creating a parody between generation one vehicles and gener generation two as much as they can right giving the hardware limitations of generation one Um so a lot of the I think we'll continue to see some of the features that Gen 2 gets you know ahead of time come to Gen One in a couple of updates afterwards which is really cool So Gen One owners can continue to feel um like they're included and part of the family because they are um without the need of having to go and like you know buy a whole new vehicle There's no need to do that So I give uh give props to Riven for continuing to support their uh last generation vehicles and their current generation So that's great Um and then overall just a lot of stable stability fixes improvements and stuff like that Um there's a lot of exciting things coming in the pipeline from what I've heard little birdies that tell me for Viven software updates So stay tuned I promise these videos will get more exciting when we have more exciting software updates But for now thank you so much for tuning in everybody It's late I'm gonna go sleep I hope everybody has a wonderful day evening night whenever you're watching this
