Practical Strategies to Overcome Overthinking

dear overthinker you're doing it again over and over it's like a habit now isn't it going back to that moment what you could have said what you should have done but here's the thing no amount of thinking will change it so what if instead of overthinking we just let it go I want to do a little exercise with you okay so close your eyes how many fingers do I hold up wait I said you should close your eyes take a deep breath in hold it and let it out picture yourself standing on an empty Beach it's noon the waves are peaceful you look at the waves each wave pulls something away a thought a worry a regret the water just Tes makes it and another wave comes in and there goes another thought and another until all that's left is the sound of the ocean and space in your mind now take one last just deep breath in and out open your eyes now stand up shake out your hands like you're letting go of something sticky now your arms your legs shake everything out if you're not alone if you don't want to do this in front of people find a bathroom Let It Go Right Here Right Now how do you feel maybe just a little better even if it's just 1% better that's already a win please write it in the comments if it helped you or not because I want to explain the content later in the video and I really hope it helped here are my favorite ways to stop overthinking have you ever noticed that your thoughts repeat the most when you're in the same place like laying in your bed while showering sitting at the same chair staring at the same wall it's like your brain expect to over think there the solution break the pattern get up go outside move to a different room sit on the floor instead of your chair when you move your brain has to think about something new and suddenly the overthinking doesn't feel as heavy but what if the thoughts still come back what if you find yourself stuck in the same scenario over and over again let's try something new grab your Journal I designed this journal myself so if you're looking for a new Journal I leave the link in the caption now answer these did this happen exactly like I think it did will this matter in 5 days 5 months 5 years can I control it what action can I take right now and after you journal the that let go the question is why are you still watching this video where the other two ones not this was not good English wait where the other ones not where the other two Hecks the next one will definitely work if you don't want to oh if you don't want to destroy your Journal grab a piece of paper write down every thought that won't leave you alone be honest no fake positivity just put it all down and then destroy it shred it burn it do whatever it takes to physically get rid of it why because when your brain sees it handled it finally lets it go do you know that moment when something happens to you and then it actually feels 10 times bigger than it actually is like if someone else would go through the exact same thing you're going through you would probably tell them oh it's okay you're going to be fine but because it happens to you it's like a whole life crisis and that is the mindset shift when things are not about you it's so much easier to see those things as they are if your best friend was in the exact same situation than you in right now what would you tell them because that is actually what you need to tell yourself and what you need to hear right now my point is look at the situation from a third person view why does Jenny care so much about that what can we tell her that she will move on flip the script okay that was weird e if you want to do something but you're obsessing over why you shouldn't do it flip the script and ask yourself what is the best thing that could happen we've been kind of training our brains to thinking only the worst like the worst thing that could happen why not flip it and think about the best that could happen What If instead of worrying what could go wrong you imagine what could go right remember when we did that quick meditation and shaking thing earlier overthinking isn't just in your head it's in your body too like that little tightness in your chest that is stuck animals literally Shake themselves like cats dogs horses but humans we don't we don't shake ourselves when we are anxious okay this sounds kind of a little bit weird I know but hear me out so because humans don't shake themselves the anxiety stays stuck and that is why we need to shake ourselves to like literally release the physical t from our body and the visualization worked because we gave your brain something else to focus on so the next time your brain won't seal the squeal Shake It Off and shift your focus you feel like overthinking gives you control right but let me ask you this has it actually worked out once name me one time where overthinking helped you more than it hurt you I can't can you and maybe just maybe you won't look back and be proud of that you thought about it but you'll be proud that you actually did it [Music]
