Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Downloading Your Template

  • Navigate to Catalog in the menu.
  • Select Add products via upload.
  • Click on Download Spreadsheet tab.
  • Choose Get Product Template in the pop-up box.
  • Select your Marketplace and Product Category.
  • Click Generate Template to download an Excel file.

Step 2: Open the Template

  • Use either Excel or Google Sheets (recommended).
  • For Google Sheets:
    1. Open a new blank spreadsheet.
    2. Go to File > Import > Upload the downloaded template.

Step 3: Understanding the Template Tabs

  • Instructions: Read for guidance on usage.
  • Images: Amazon’s product image guidelines.
  • Example: Samples of completed templates.
  • Data Definitions: Definitions and examples of titles.
  • Template: Main tab for filling out updates.
  • Browse Data: Product category path.
  • Valid Values: Acceptable entries for certain fields.

Step 4: Filling Out the Template

  • Focus on required fields for existing product updates.
  • Product Type: Select from dropdown (might glitch in Google Sheets).
  • Seller SKU: Paste your product’s SKU.
  • Brand Name: Enter the brand name.
  • Item Type Keyword: Copy from Valid Values tab.
  • Product Title: Update title as needed.
  • Product ID: Use ASIN from inventory tab.
  • Main Image URL: Enter main image URL if changing.
  • Update / Delete: Enter "partial update" for existing listings.
  • Product Description: Update description directly.
  • Key Product Features: Add bullet points here.
  • Search Terms: Back-end keywords (no repeats or competitor brands).

Step 5: Exporting the Template

  • After filling out, export file as Excel.
  • Ensure correct file type is selected.

Step 6: Uploading to Amazon

  • Back in Amazon:
    1. Go to Catalog > Add Products via Upload.
    2. Upload your exported file.
    3. Optionally enter email for upload completion notice.
    4. Click Upload File.
  • Monitor upload status; errors can be downloaded for review.
  • Most changes visible in 15 minutes, images/videos may take up to 24 hours.
