do you ever feel like God takes longer than you thought or like he's taking longer than what you thought he said it would take look you're not alone in those feelings because as we continue in the Book of Genesis today it's like the flood and Noah and how long did it actually take for them to get off the ark look we have so much to examine ourselves in in this chapter so come on in and join [Music] me hey y'all I'm Kayla welcome back to his word my walk and We are continuing to walk through the Book of Genesis together I'm just so grateful for you and all that you just comment and your encouragement to me but also just like seeing the Bible and Experiencing God in a fresh way that's truly my goal and my desire I love the comments that are like my church is going through Genesis and like this is a bonus supplement to that I'm so so so honored that you're here and let's go chapter 8 let's continue on because where we left off look the flood has covered the Earth so now what right 40 days and 40 nights it's going to rain I'm reading from the New Living Translation let's go Genesis chapter 8 but God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and livestock with him in the boat okay let's back up one verse right let's back up one verse in chapter 7 and the flood waters covered the Earth for 150 days the flood waters covered the Earth for 150 days again remember we were asking those questions and we were being curious about like how prepared were they right like did God say how long it would take oh like just this extra examining ourselves even in that right like God we know for sure that God told Noah it'll rain for 40 days and 40 nights did he also tell them and then it'll be 150 days that the flood waters will cover the Earth like sometimes I feel like in my not I feel like sometimes in my relationship with God if I'm really honest I'm like okay I feel like there's a timeline here God and I'm I'm on board with it I can be patient in that and then all of a sudden it's like and then this and then you know and then it shuts down and then there's a storm and then you know but God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and livestock with him in the boat he sent a wind to blow across the earth and the flood waters began to recede our God is that powerful he sent a wind in my mind I'm like right he sent a wind to blow across the Earth again let's like remember the Earth this isn't just one country one state one Province one city he sent a wind to blow across the earth and the flood waters began to recede the underground Waters stopped flowing and the torrential rains from the sky were stopped so the flood waters gradually receded from the earth after 150 days exactly five months from the time the flood began the boat came to rest on the mountains of erat okay now if we're going to be curious if we're going to do some research if we're going to like put on that detective hat and get into this then let's look for a map where was where is eror at in that time where did this mountain that all of a sudden the boat the ark kind of like right like that's what I picture right like we're we're boating we're floating along and all of a sudden we're like hung up and the waters are starting to recede down but after 150 days after 150 days exactly five months from the time the flood began the boat came to rest on the mountains of aret 2 and 1/2 months later as the waters continued to go down other mountain peaks became visible now you know we we so easily say God's timing is perfect and it's so easy to say to other people but how often can I truly say that to myself and believe it and not be frustrated by it and have it increase my faith God's timing is perfect I also am thinking like sometimes when I I feel like I'm like God's timing is perfect I feel like I'm only talking about the like the moment is it happens but what about the leading up to it right like think of how many I wish we could know how many conversations Noah and God had like were there more conversations while Noah was in the boat like how did Noah and God communicate how did God speak to Noah because see for me now right through the Holy Spirit and like this relationship that I have with God I feel like we communicate all day all day but what about Noah what about in those days and I wonder if Noah was ever like okay it's got to be like enough is enough okay the waters are going down okay the boat has stopped and then even then two and a half months later the boat has stopped we're on a mountain the waters are going down to 2 and 1/2 months later as the waters contined to go down other mountain peaks became visible not like 2 and a half months later we were good to go two and a half months later all of a sudden other mountain peaks became visible so how much higher was the mountain peak that they were stuck on and then I mean are you picturing it with me right like are you are you trying to picture it with me they're they stopped on this mountain peak and so then did the waters go down and like clearly the boat must have gone down with it down the side of the mountain right they're not like Teeter tottering on top of this mountain and the water's going down right like let's actually try to Envision how powerful our God is and and a lot of times when I get really curious in the scriptures I know some of these questions are silly and I was responding to a comment yesterday and like sometimes I stop myself and don't even like pose the question I'm thinking out loud because it's like Beyond silly but it all comes back to how powerful our God is how big our God is how awesome and awe like amazing our God is that I can even think of these things and like I can't comprehend them and that's how awesome our God is but how about God's timing gosh two and a half months later as the waters continued to go down other mountain peaks became visible after another 40 Days Noah opened the window he had made in the boat and released a raven H I wonder why a raven why a raven why did God have him release a raven or did God give him instruction of what bird to release why did Noah release a raven but after another 40 Days like do you ever feel like that with God it's like okay great 40 days and 40 nights I'm in this is this is actually if I like look in my own life and like what I share with you here just to kind of try to give you an example that can maybe help you apply to your life right like when I left everything I I share this testimony so often in 2019 and moved back to Canada to help take care of my dad 8 months later my dad passed and I was like okay now I'll get my life back like I'll get my life back I'll go through it was the end of like in November so I was like We'll go through Christmas with family in January we'll kind of like start to reset I'll figure out where I'm going to move to what I'm going to do and like I had this timeline that I thought was like in agreement with God right like I thought okay eight months I just spent here my dad passed let me give myself a couple more months to get it together where I'm going to move what I'm going to do and then as most of you know in 2020 things changed and being in different countries a different country than where I was there were some closures and all of a sudden I was like wait this timeline is now extending then I went through a really hard time like mentally even with God of like wait I feel like I held up my end of the bargain but like the time is still tiing on and then it's another couple months and another couple months and another couple months and when am I going to move when am I going to get out of here when am I going to start what you're asking me to start when am I GNA I mean if I want to like really look into it this actually makes me think that I need to uh Journal through this because now that I'm thinking even Noah like releasing the raven like at what point did I like release something to see and I did oh if you haven't heard of Bible journaling boot camp this is my like top like so excited about program I'm actually today um it'll be yesterday when you see this but today having our first group call together there are more than 80 people that have joined this program to truly help you Journal through God's word and in your life we go through the scripture in detail and I teach you different ways that you can journal in your time with God it's all set up there for you you get instant access to it but then I meet with you every now and then as often as I can to really pour into you and answer those questions and I'm so excited to have the first one of those today which will be yesterday as you watch this live but this makes me want to go to my journal this makes me now that I'm looking at it what Noah did and how maybe Noah felt and how the timeline kept changing and changing and changing so here we go if you want to jump into Bible journaling boot camp everything is linked in the description I'll put it here on the screen for you too after another 40 Days Noah opened the window he had made in the boat and released a raven the bird flew back and forth until the flood waters on the earth had dried up he also released a dove to see if the water had receded and it could find to see if the water had receded and it could find dry ground but the dove could find no place to land because the water still covered the ground wait a minute the bird the Raven right let's go back to verse seven and he released a raven the bird flew back and forth until the flood waters on the earth had dried up he also released a dove to see if the water had receded and it could find dry ground but the dove could find no place to land because the water still covered the ground was the difference between the Dove and the Graven Graven the Dove and the Raven what is the difference there how come the Raven stayed out and found something but the Dove came back is there a significance there is there a significance in what type of bird it was in what it may be represents but the dove could find no place to land because the water still covered the ground so it returned to the boat and Noah held out his hand and Drew the dove back inside birds are smart right like knew how to go and come back after waiting another seven days Noah released the dove again I wonder if he released the same one because do you remember how many birds I mean how many pairs of birds were brought I wonder if he released the exact same Dove after waiting another seven days Noah released the dove again this time the dove returned to him in the evening with a fresh olive leaf in its beak then Noah knew that the flood waters were almost gone a fresh olive leaf in its beak a fresh olive leaf in its beak now this just says seven days later how is there a tree sprouted up enough to have fresh leaves on it already if the dove didn't find anything seven days before but yet seven days later when it goes out it brings out a branch remember the flood waters covered the Earth again this is how powerful our God is this is how powerful our God is ah after waiting another seven days Noah released the dove again this time the dove returned to him in the evening with a fresh olive leaf in its beak then Noah knew that the flood waters were almost gone he waited another s days and then released the dove again this time it did not come back as I'm like thinking through my own situation it makes me think like how many times was I willing to release the dove how many times was I willing to try again how many times was I willing to send out a resume how many times was I willing to apply for something how many times was I willing to try a relationship how many times was I willing to you know what I'm saying like examine yourself in your life seven days later Noah sent out the DT then seven days later he tried again then seven days later he tried again like how many times am I willing to try or if I try the first time am I just like well clearly that must not be God's plan am I willing to try again Noah tried again and Tred again again he waited a week and then he tried again this time it did not come back Noah was now 61 years old on the first day of the New Year 10 and a half months after the flood began I would have been like God this is truly like in my own thoughts in 2019 2020 God you said 40 days and 40 nights and I agreed to 40 days and 40 nights 10 and 1 half months after the flood began the flood waters had almost dried up from the earth 10 and a half months can I keep the faith can I keep my faith can I keep believing can I keep trusting God can I keep believing and trusting him for that same promise when I thought he said 40 days and 40 nights and 10 and a half months later is when I finally see some progress some Freedom some momentum some breakthrough or have I given up along the way gosh um 10 and a half months after the flood began the flood waters had almost dried up from the earth Noah lifted back the covering of the boat and saw that the surface of the ground was drying two more months went by and at last the Earth was dry like I've been challenging myself through this chapter to look at that timeline to really really look at that timeline and to really examine myself and my faith and my trust in God's timing see Noah could have been well I'll just say I have been right let me not hypothet hypo hypothesize hypothetically whatever let me not put Noah in in this boat um but let me just share openly right in my life sometimes I I say this and right once it finally works out God's timing is perfect but while I was waiting while I was sending out the Raven while I was sending out the dove while I kept looking and oh it's almost dry oh it's almost dry can I still say God's timing for this situation can I still say God's timing is perfect while I'm in the waiting for it verse 15 then God said to Noah leave the boat all of you you and your wife and your sons and their wives release all the animals the birds the livestock and the small animals that Scurry along the ground so they can be fruitful and multiply throughout the Earth I'm going to ask a question in a second so Noah his wife and his sons and their wives left the boat and all of the large and small animals and birds came out of the boat Pair by pair where are they going to live like Noah's a husband and a father and these eight people are the only ones left on Earth where are we going to live how are we going to eat did they eat everything on the boat like just thinking through the planning and look at how much Faith oh my gosh if we like jump to Hebrews right by faith Noah built the ark but also by faith Noah went along with the whole thing like sometimes we may be like yeah but he didn't have a he didn't have a choice right but he still had to have faith he could have jumped out the boat at any point he if he had a choice but he still had Faith man like so many questions where are we going to live what are we going to do how are we going to eat what's the world going to be like how are we going to repopulate all the things so Noah his wife and his sons and their wives left the boat and all of the large and small animals and birds came out of the boat Pair by pair remember how long it had been right um I mean 10 and a half months but then plus another two months once like it still says the animals came out Pair by pair so I mean I was curious in like were some populated while they were in there you know did chickens lay eggs while they were in there like how did it go while they in there but then it says that they they came out all of the large and small animals and birds came out of the boat Pair by pair then Noah built an altar to the lord and there he sacrificed as burnt offerings the animals and birds that had been approved for that purpose that whole time I wonder if as it took longer right as it took longer maybe than Noah thought if he ever considered let's eat these animals that that makes me examine myself when it comes to tithing even when it comes to giving even you know hey like I need this right now I need this right now or I won't make it no but God told them to take it for sacrifice and he came out of the boat and still had the animals that were set aside for sacrifices he still had them set aside for sacrifices through all that time which also means he was feeding them and taking care of them the ones that he came in for sacrifices then Noah built an altar to the lord and there he sacrificed as burnt offerings the animals and birds that had been approved for that purpose and the Lord was pleased with the aroma of the sacrifice and said to himself I will never again curse the ground because of the human race even though everything they think or imagine is bent toward evil from childhood I will never again destroy all living things as long as the Earth remains there will be planting and harvest cold and heat summer and winter day and night similar to chapter one a faith reset statement there it is right there God kept his word to himself but we can still see it today as long as the Earth remains there will be planting and harvest cold and heat summer and winter day and night we can see that every single day the Lord was pleased with the aroma of the sacrifice and said to himself S I will never again curse the ground because of the human race even though see even though is this God saying like sin's not gone sin is not gone even though everything they think or imagine is bent toward evil from childhood I will never again destroy all living things even though sin is not gone God didn't wipe out the sin and that came in from Adam and Eve he didn't wipe that out you ever think about that he could have I was reading something the other day too of like you know our free will that we have as people God didn't stop Eve Eve had free will she used her free will to eat the fruit and give it to Adam he used his free will to eat the fruit God didn't intervene there we have free will that's a whole another topic but I want to just just ask myself this question and and maybe you need to examine yourself too have you ever built an altar to the Lord have you ever built an altar to the Lord after something happened and like truly whether it's like actually a physical thing or whether it's an entry in your Journal like my journal is a collection of evidence and there are so many altars to the Lord in my journal that I go back and I see and I remember what he's done but I have other like physical things um like sometimes in like special events or something I'll buy a special piece of jewelry to commemorate that and to and every time I wear it or every time I pull it out or whatever I remember what God did in that season I remember how it came through you know I I just want to encourage you and and maybe even challenge you in your life like it it doesn't necessarily have to be this like candle or stones or or an altar like that but is there is there something that you're putting together in your life when God brings you through these circumstances is that will will make you remember him not remember how awesome the time was right not like hey and I got the T-shirt no but that will make you remember him and what he did and how he brought you through Noah built an altar to the lord and there he sacrificed as burnt offerings the animals and birds that had been approved for that purpose and then let's continue our faith reset as long as the Earth remains there will be planting and harvest cold and heat summer and winter day and night we can see that we can see that y'all I want to encourage you you can grab this workbook it's G to give you those questions to dig deeper within yourself but also um oh wait chapter eight not nine um also the Walk It Out challenges but to just spend that extra time with God away from this right I love the comments if you don't read through the comments there's study bible stuff and people doing extra research Beyond this but let me give you your walk it out challenge for today today try again how many times did Noah send out a bird in that situation you've started to give up on because you haven't seen progress send out the bird again try again trust God's word and try again it's not always just about trusting God's timing trust God's word and try again try again try again seven days later Noah sent out the bird seven days later he sent it out again seven days later like try again all right let me pray for you before we go God I thank you I thank you for your mercy I thank you for your promises I thank you that we are here today and can have relationship with you and be your children and that your word is still true today thank you for the faith of Noah and the sacrifices that he made so that we can even be here and have this relationship with you today God I pray over the one watching right now I pray that Holy Spirit you are bringing the exact situation ation to their mind and that you are building up their faith right now that they will try again that it is not too far gone that it is not too dark that it is not too late but that it is time to send out another bird to try again to try again and God I pray that you reveal yourself to them and that they recognize you when they send that bird out when they try again God may your will be done what we want in our timing God may your will be done in your perfect timing thank you for who you are thank you for all you have done let us not forget what you have done for us and in us and through us may we continue to Rejoice for all that you will continue to do in Jesus name amen hey if you want to learn a little bit more about Bible journaling click up here but also let's keep going into the next chapter [Music]
