Thank you for coming out. My name is Alec Dabosby and I am a senior music education major.

Welcome to tonight's concert, Heaven and Earth. We will present a large variety of selections. around the world and admiring God's creation. The concert starts with a selection from one of the greatest oratorios from the classical era, Haydn's Creation. Concerts in their local form, the heavens are telling the glory of God with words from Psalm 19. In Haydn's masterwork, this number closes day four of God's creation.

Thank you and I hope you enjoy. The heavens are telling the glory of God. To God he's heard, he's raised up from the dead.

He's heard, he's raised up from the dead. This morning speaks to the day The night that is gone to following night The night that is gone to following night The heaven, the heaven, the holy, the glory, the glory The wonder of His Word Displaced, displaced, the firmament The wonder of His Word Displaced, displaced, the firmament Never, The wonder of the Lord, the wonder of His word, His grace, His grace, the firmament. This place, the good, the bad, the good, the bad, the good, the bad, This is the world of men, Displace the firmament! Displace the firmament!

Good evening, my name is Melanie Mosher and I am a junior choral education student here at Charleston Southern. Our next group is going to be Belcanto, this is our women's ensemble, and we will be offering four selections tonight. We're going to start in biblical music. The new arrangement, which is by Yasaya Marmel, of the traditional spiritual, there is a balm in the other hand. The welcome tune has a repetitive harmonic and rhythmic element underneath with a rocking, swaying effect that embodies the feeling of a balm.

Our student conductor, Ali Domkowski, will be conducting this selection. Our second selection is Tundra by Norwegian composer Ola Aiello and the lyrics by Charles Silvestri. The composer was inspired by a vast northern mountain plateau in his homeland. From Norway, we are going to travel to Taiwan with a folk song, Du Du Dong Ma. This work depicts the interaction of nature and a train.

When the train goes through one of many tunnels in the mountainous region, the condensation results in falling droplets on the roof of a train, making a sound indicated by a local dialect as Du Du Dong Ma. A pontoon will finish in the United States with a tribute to the life in the U-Canal that goes from comedy to Buffalo. Please enjoy.

There is a woman who is above the eyes to heal the sins, to heal the sins, so there is a woman who is above the eyes to make a home. I'm going to be out to heal the sins of souls. If you cannot reach my feet, I will pray like a wolf.

I'm going to be out to heal the sins of souls. Jesus, you have to save us all. There is a home in Gilead. In the abyss, in the s And I think my words in faith, but then the Holy Spirit revives my soul again. Today, the Lord gives us his own.

Today, the Lord gives us his own. Oh The voice, the voice, the voice of Jesus Christ. I'm a C-Dub, C-Dub, C-Dub, C-Dub, C-Dub, C-Dub, C-Dub, C-Dub, C-Dub, C-Dub, C-Dub, C-Dub, C-Dub, C-Dub, C-Dub, C-Dub, C-Dub, C-Dub, C-Dub, C-Dub, C-D Oh, This style, 15 miles on the E-Rings on now, she's a good worker at it.

This style, 15 miles on the E-Rings on now, we've all sung marches in our day. Filled with lumber, coal and jade, but we know... We are IE, good night. Fifteen miles, fifteen miles, we beg in the long, long way of Cal.

Fifteen miles on Lyrica now Cause you bet your life I never part with sound Fifteen miles on Lyrica now Now you'll hear comes along. We'll reach home about six o'clock. Then one more trip and back we'll go.

Right back home to Buffalo. Lumberjacks, everybody down. Lumberjacks, we're going through town. And you'll always know your name is on your crown. If you've ever navigated on a e-hawking.

I know from your every baby's sound, you're empty but for me. She's a good old worker and a good old love. Fifteen bucks on the Eureka now.

We've bought some forges in our day. Filled with lumber, coal, and hay. And we know every mother. We have took away from the body, to the mouth of the Lord, the wish, everybody down. Lover's corporate, going through town Yes, you'll always know your neighbor And you'll always know your pal If you've ever navigated From the open east you'll walk alone You'll walk alone, yes you'll always know your neighbor And you're always gonna know your pal If you've ever navigated on the Irigana We ended up going just a little bit of a different direction, not so much place-oriented as heaven and earth-oriented.

So the idea of the program is we're walking through several emotions or moods that are tied together. First movement is a pleading for God to carry us through what we will face. Then we go into the D.S.D.A., which is full of fear. And then we stop in this place of uncertainty or of searching for what we want in this life and talk about how we wish the time to come.

And then we surrender it to the trust that is God as the maker and creator of this earth. This is my father. And then because we trust, we have hope that the chariot will swing down and take us on to the other side.

So this is what's known as a programmatic kind of piece. So we're actually going to do all five songs in a row without applause. So if you guys can just hold your applause as we're going through this journey, and I hope you'll enjoy it. So we hope you enjoy our program. Thank you.

First of the S.E.E.F. Yes, oh, Be passing up, what peace can foil the tempter's license? Yes, they can be. And sunshine, oh, walk with me.

No changes, not a vow, walk with me. The world has full tools, but the universe has been closed. The street is...

The Windows of darkness, soon you'll be drenched with a warm... It's time to leave this place, see you then. And you better start swimming and sing like a song.

For the times, they are unchanging. and fathers throughout the land, and don't be decided that you can't understand. Your sons and your daughters are beyond your command. Your own road is rapidly changing Please get out of the new one If you can't lend a hand For the times, they are a-changing The light it is on, the mercy it is good But no one now will hear me cry As the presence now will later be found you The order is weaponry-feeding, and the first one now will later be last. The first one now will later be last.

The times, they are a-changing. This is my father's room, and to my listening is all nature's heat, and now here he is, the one who... I see this is my father's... See, His hands the waters, His hands the waters, This is my Father's Word, He shines in all that's fair.

In rustling crowds I hear you, flowers blooming everywhere. This is my season of love. Should my heart be sad, the Lord is near, let there be peace. Let us weep. This is my Father's world.

He gave his heavenly blood. This is my Father's world. Swing on, swing and share me all Heart to carry me home, sweet home, sweet chariot, heart to carry me home. Swing down chariot stop and let me ride, swing down chariot stop and let me ride, oh rock me Lord, rock me Lord.

Come and easy. I've got a home on the other side Where there's a girl right now in the middle of the field He saw an angel working on a cherry wheel He wasn't in particular about the cherry wheel He just wanted to see how a cherry feels Where there's a girl without any guy Oh, swing down, cherry stop and let me ride. Swing down, cherry stop and let me ride.

Oh, rock me, Lord, rock me, Lord. Come and easy, I've got a home on the... The other side.

Where was he? He went out in the middle of the field. And then he started working on the sherry field.

A bunch of so particular about working on that field. He just wanted to see how the sherry field. And then he went out and he got.

Oh, swing down the chariot's top and let me ride. Swing down the chariot's top and let me ride. Oh, rock me Lord, rock me Lord, come and easy. I've got a home on the other side.

Swing down the chariot's top and let me ride. Oh, swing down the chariot's top and let me ride. Oh, rock me Lord.

Swing down, chariot, and let me ride. Swing down, chariot, and let me ride. I've got a home. I've got a home. I've got a home on the other side.

My name is Andy Kropp. I'm a junior oral education student. In concert singers, you can perform in three additional selections. The first two will be presented as a set, so please hold your applause and join those two pieces. The Blue Bridge by Elaine Hegeberg meets the beauty of the familiar mountains that go from Georgia to Pennsylvania.

Hegeberg uses a small musical element of two notes with descending and ascending intervals that can be heard throughout the piece. If we draw a continuous line connecting all these notes, we will have the shapes of the mountains overlapping. Norwegian composer Ola Gale used a passage in Latin from the song of Solveig to describe the beauty and power of the northern lights. In his own words, Gale tells us that this was the most beautiful natural phenomenon he had ever witnessed. You know what I'm trying to say.

And with it is such power that must be both mesmerizing and terrifying to the people in the past, when no one knew what it was, and much superstition was attached to these experiences. Concerning it, we'll finish with a narration by Moses Hogan of the traditional spiritual, The Battle of Jericho, with lyrics alluding to the biblical story where Joshua led the Israelites against the Canaan. Thank you. We will first be happy and joyous.

The poor man's coming in They're coming in Coming in The world shall know The world shall know The Spirit of the Lord Thank you. For my dear friend is clear. For my dear friend is clear. Thank you. Jericho, talk about your kings of Gideon, talk about your men of song, one time I put old Joshua at the battle of Jericho.

Good morning, Joshua, the battle of Jericho. Go on, oh why do you let the battle bounce you? Oh Lord, yes, oh the battle's not the battle Go on, oh yes, oh the battle's not the battle Oh Lord, just shut up, and the walls are all tumbling down Oh Lord, you know that you should win the battle You should win the battle We want to battle, We've got to go.

We've got to go. We've got to go. There we go. No more clowns on the lead. Down.

So thank you so much, Lynn, for the many, many years of service and just the love you've shown us through your playing and just through your spirit. So I just wanted to say thank you. And to just bless you. Thank you for all the time you spent with us. I'm going to cry.

Anyway, we're going to sing. May the voice to me do, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine. May the wind fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, make our love new.
