Shankar mr. shaker and mr. selvam distinguished members of the faculty invitees student friends ladies and gentlemen my first words this morning certainly those of thanks to dr. Vishwanathan and his team for giving me an opportunity to be here and meet all of you in this great institution of lee and learning i was always an admirer of dr. viswanathan for many number of years because here is a person who made many twists and turns and changes in his career which is very uncommon in people especially for somebody who chooses politics as a carrier they always aspired to be ministers and ministers age being no bar and they never think of anything else dr. Vishwanathan I read started his career as a he joined the services then became a lawyer then chose to become to enter politics and he distinguished himself as a very successful Minister for food and civil supplies he went on to make many path-breaking changes there which i think was a mistake and then he's too carrier took a turn when he started wanted to become educationists and started this institution back in nineteen eighty-four I've always looked for and we see visionaries in this world who are transformed the society who are transformed the opportunities in front of them there are not many of them they're very few of them if you talk of visionaries if you talk of people with great foresight over reaching mission who could imagine things which are well beyond 20 30 years of today the best example one comes across is none other than the father of the nation doctor I mean Mahatma Gandhiji sorry Eden have adopted Mothma Gandhi back in nineteen nineteen when there was no communication there were no television sets there are no radios in foreign rule and when the Congress party was not so developed it he didn't have so many branches and sub-branches he gave the call for Swaraj and that call was backed by what it was backed by truth it was backed by conviction and it was backed by a great vision and in less than 30 years he achieves Farraj porna Swaraj so I liken all visionaries to Gandhiji here is a man coming from this place which was little known but for the CMC which was again started by a great visionary dr. iris got a Scudder back in nineteen eighty-four number of education institutions were started I think there was a time and government allowed the so-called self supporting institutions to come and a few of them started and most of them are where they were and here dr.
