Materials

Blanket Instructions

Foundation Chain

  • Must be a multiple of 3 plus 1, and add an extra 1 for the foundation chain
  • Example for a baby blanket, chain 80

Row Instructions

  • Row 1: Single crochet into the second chain from the hook, continue single crochet in each chain

  • Row 2:

    • Chain 2, turn (counts as first stitch)
    • Work 2 double crochet into the same stitch
    • Row repeat: Skip 2 stitches, in next stitch work 1 single crochet and 2 double crochet
    • Repeat until 3 stitches remain, work 1 single crochet in last stitch
    • Total stitches should be 79 if starting with a chain of 80
  • Row 3:

    • Chain 2, turn (counts as first stitch)
    • Work 2 double crochet into the first stitch
    • Row repeat: Skip next 2 double crochet, in single crochet from previous row work 1 single crochet and 2 double crochet
    • Repeat until 3 stitches remain, single crochet in top of chain 2
  • Continuation: Repeat Row 3 until the blanket measures 27 inches

Border Instructions

Rounds

  • Round 1:
    • Work 3 single crochet in the last stitch to form a corner
    • Single crochet evenly along the first side
    • Work 3 single crochet in each corner
  • Round 2:
    • Chain 1, work 3 single crochet in each corner's middle stitch
    • Single crochet in each stitch along the sides
  • Rounds 3 & 4: Repeat Round 2

Finishing

  • Join Rounds: Slip stitch to first single crochet to join rounds
