so Puff Daddy puff puffy P Diddy love love puff I was there for all the name changes I generally can't remember them all P stands for puffy but it also might stand for prison T we live in a weird time for those who don't know Sean Colmes is a hip-hop icon legendary producer label executive Mogul I believe billionaire I believe he was maybe the second or third and a rap billionaire and has other accolades but he's had a hell of a past six months or so and if you've been paying attention and were around for that whole time with all those names he's really had a hell of a career it's hard for me to like explain the concept of Puff Daddy cuz puff was never really a rapper he's kind of like DJ khed before DJ khid except you know would actually get on the mic much more consistently good music would come out of his camp like DJ khed it feels like he just makes a lot of throwaway beats and then the best rappers come rap on him for some reason I don't know what he has on these people but puff on the other hand now I like it the Puff Daddy albums pretty spectacular still hold up of course found notorious b g was a part of the most iconic like moment in hip-hop in the um mid to late '90s was there when biggy died and then in the aftermath of biggy's death arose to be a superstar all on his own in a way that in retrospect now feels a little bit weird feels a little bit you know sus but at the time it was this like really cool story in hip pop that you know a major figure would be lost and replaced by his closest partner but at the same time there's a whole lot of other dirty foul [ __ ] happening with puff that I think we on some level ignored but also clearly there was a lot of suppression of the things that were happening like it's been an Open Secret that Diddy was a bad guy and you get this from the way that many in the media have always talked about him but I think with his level of power along with it seems like the will to be intimidating this all just stayed under the wraps and any accusations towards puff would not be taken seriously all that said Diddy not necessarily being the greatest guy is not where I want to go just yet what I really want to talk about is the way we're talking about this like for all the things that we're learning and hearing about Diddy the most prominent aspects of this conversation is that Diddy's name has replaced the word homo in the phrase no homo and I'm I'm just so disappointed in y'all I like want to grab my cane and just yell at y'all like a old ass man and tell you to cut the grass and cut your hair and pull your pants up like it's bringing out a really bad side of me like I want y'all to just hear me on the reason why the phrase no homo shouldn't even be a thing to begin with anymore like I get it I said no homo 20 years ago I get the the uh comedic utility that the phrase has and I was ignorant to the reality of it at that time y'all don't have the same excuse really and I'm willing to believe that there is not an explicit desire for harm toward gay people when you all say this but explicit desire for harm is not necessary for harm to actually happen I get that making sex jokes is definitely not something that I'm above personally but inherently that phrase is disrespectful regardless of your intent and folks still really don't seem to understand that and like I need you to get that we're not at a point where we can really be joking like that with gay folks because they not feeling the humor they don't they don't seem funny to them because to them their experience right now despite what you think despite what your you know uncles are saying in the barber shop uh the [ __ ] is still kind of serious to them you may not understand or get this but the no homo joke that you say with your friends while you're in the basement playing 2K does translate into the way that gay people are treated harassed and sometimes outright attacked by some of them same dudes in the basement which that you think it's a joke until some dude realizes that he can you know perform masculinity and it would be so funny to do this really harmful evil thing to this gay couple because they're holding hands while walking down the street and if that seems specific it's because that's something that literally has happened to members of my family within the last year in the middle of a liberal City like there are still people out there seeking to attack and beat up and jump gay people for existing so if I'm in their shoes you saying no homo because the implication is that you don't want to be seen as gay because the implication is that being seen as gay is a bad thing it may expose you to harm the shit's not funny to me it's not it's it's not a funny joke I've said this before when I was talking about the Chapelle [ __ ] if you're a white you can't make certain jokes about black people you cannot if you're really clever and you really know black people then you can like you know get you some Bill bur jokes off like we give Bill bur a pass for you know valid reasons but if you ain't Bill bur and you're trying to make jokes about black issues and black challenges we are going to come for you because you don't get to do that because the shit's not funny to us because you're talking about our actual existence and actual things that we're going through and you can laugh because you don't worry about that [ __ ] but if you were worrying about that [ __ ] the [ __ ] wouldn't seem funny are we are we kind of getting are we kind of getting me here and the real reason why I bring this up isn't even like specifically about the phrase no homo is the fact that that seems to be the only thing that bothers people about the situation with Diddy and that's wild to me considering all the other things we've heard and or know about Diddy anyone that was around 10 15 years ago can tell you that Diddy was probably abusing Cassie pretty significantly it was an Open Secret in like hip-hop culture industry at the time and anyone a few years earlier than that can tell you that Diddy was probably allegedly abusing Kim Porter anybody that has been around this whole time can tell you that not allegedly Diddy has [ __ ] over almost every major artist he's ever dealt with from the locks Lon shine mace Danity Kane the late Craig Mack Craig Mack who gave Diddy his first hit died broke and in some type of cult that did he never bother to you know address on his behalf all of these people I Nam will tell you that Diddy was a snake and then there's the concerning rumors with Usher and Justin Bieber about possible grooming and I'm actually personally hesitant to believe that puff had any type of like inappropriate direct sexual relationship with these two men when they were teenage boys but I also very much believe as Usher Lukes to in one of his interviews that did he expose him to some inappropriate experiences for a young man's age pretty wild it so nobody to you know some woman didn't come along say okay I didn't say what I did say is that there were very curious things taking place uhhuh and I didn't necessarily understand it and S this is something that a lot of young men have had done to them by older male role models that are in positions of power or influence Little Wayne stated that baby got him a prostitute when he was only like 14 Anthony keus of the Red Hot Chili Peppers Lil booy we remember Lil booy talking about buying a prostitute for his son when he was 13 to make sure he wouldn't be gay people trying to make men out of boys by getting them molested by adult women and this goes back to the no homo [ __ ] like y'all are focusing and making jokes about [ __ ] that ain't really funny if you understand what's really going on and the dark sad irony is that some of these little boys not all cuz I want to be clear like prior trauma and you know experiences of abuse does not make you an abuser but statistically that type of exposure to harm makes it more likely that you end up perpetrating that type of harm when you get older so even when I look at a diddy I can't help but think for the things I'm hearing about Diddy in terms of the sexual violence and harm he's doing to other people that that's something that probably happened to him because that tends to be a pattern in the black community and a lot of these black male icons that people my age have had to watch Fall From Grace or you know maybe didn't fall from grace but have like weird things going on people like Mike Tyson L Wayne as I mentioned earlier what's the dude that keeps having babies with everybody put his put his head here this guy all of them have talked about having their first sexual experience at a very young age and some of them will say like Mike Tyson that no this was an act of uh assault and molestation that he dealt with from a woman but y'all don't care about that [ __ ] when it's happening until these dudes grow up and rep perpetrate that same harm it's funny until it's not funny and I need y'all to understand it's just not funny it's just like across the board not funny y'all are creative Innovative like talented young people y'all can make up some other things and develop better patterns of analysis to break down the things that are actually happening that don't perpetrate and reproduce systems harm I believe in y'all which is why I'm telling you please do better puff isn't getting broke down cuz he didn't pay his Illuminati bills he's not getting broke down because he's possibly closeted he's not getting broke down cuz somebody's after him he's getting broke down this [ __ ] is happening because of his own behavior that again is pretty allegedly pretty well documented cuz if the [ __ ] they say about PFF is true I ain't trying to get no cease and assist letters for 15minute YouTube video but yeah y'all yeah I I expect more from y'all please do better the last thing I want to briefly touch on is how Diddy has a long history of screwing his artists out of their money something he has somewhat rectified in the last year but only after forcing all of his former artist to sign ndas reportedly so that they couldn't testify against him or at least that's the rumor though considering the accusations that have come out since then it's likely did he knew things were happening and wanted to protect himself as much as possible possible still the Legacy that Diddy has when it comes to taking resources away from his creators is ridiculous almost as ridiculous as what constantly happens to creators like me here on YouTube on so many occasions YouTube's opaque and unfair copyright and monetization systems make it so that large corporations in the form of movie studios or record labels get to take all the money that I make from a video just because I use 10 seconds of a song or a movie which is ridiculous cuz I need every cent of the money I make from these videos but it's only a drop in the bucket for these giant corporations and that's just when things get a copyright strike the other major problem is the demonetization which makes it so you never want to make certain types of content because you know that they'll get demonetized I've had videos taken down over politics sexuality and War because they were deemed not Advertiser friendly though the concept of being Advertiser friendly can really differ from topic to topic or video to video I bring all of this up lowkey as kind of a humble brag cuz I don't worry about this stuff like I used to and the only reason that's the case is thanks to my streaming service nebula nebula is an independent streaming service created by YouTubers like myself where we can have more freedom and resources to make the type of content that we want to make without worrying about the challenges that YouTube presents along with even more stuff that I didn't even get into at nebula you get the content ad free algorithm free and without ad reads like this one and it's not just my content it's some of the best creators in the genres of science Science History cultural and media analysis music lifestyle Etc all without ad reads of course and with a lot of content from these creators that you can't find anywhere else for example if you're interested in musicians and artists who have maybe been living on the edge and doing a little too much in their careers why not check out volksgeist and danger music a video looking at the careers of some of music's most notorious figures that only could be seen on nebula because the things he talks about and that happen here really don't work for YouTube and we're not just talking video essays we're also talking Independent films docu series stage plays and more and more is where you come in nebula is not a giant Corporation we are independently run and thus we rely on the direct support of you all to keep pushing the limits on what we can and can't do that's why we come to you directly to look for your support and investment into our platform specifically for me you can help me get a passion project going that I can't quite talk about now but that I know a lot lot of you want to see just by using my link in the description to get a Year's access to nebula in doing so you're not just helping me continue to make content that I don't have to stress over as much with YouTube you're also supporting independent creators so that they can do the same thank you so much for watching the video thank you so much nebula for sponsoring the video I'm FD signifier and this has been light work
