Determining Blocking on WhatsApp
Aug 8, 2024
How to Know if You Are Blocked on WhatsApp
Introduction
Scenario: Chatting with friends, no replies received.
Question: Am I being blocked?
Purpose of the lecture: Provide free processes to confirm if you are blocked on WhatsApp.
Methods to Determine if You Are Blocked
Method 1: Check Contact Picture and Active Status
Block a contact on WhatsApp.
Observations:
Contact picture changes to 'none' after blocking.
Active status is no longer visible.
Note: Changes in picture and status may also occur if the other person changes/deletes their picture or turns off active status.
If these changes persist for 12 hours or more, you may be blocked.
Method 2: Send a Message
Send a text message to the contact.
Observations:
If you see only
one tick mark
(message sent, but not delivered), it may indicate being blocked.
If the one tick mark persists for
more than 24 hours
, it likely means you are blocked.
Note: This may also happen if the contact has disabled read receipts or active status.
Method 3: Create a Group
Create a new group on WhatsApp.
Add the suspected blocked contact to the group.
Observations:
If you are unable to add the contact to the group, it
definitely means
you have been blocked by them.
