Overview

Microsoft has appointed a European Union Data Protection Officer (DPO) to serve as an independent advisor for its engineering and business groups. The role is crucial for ensuring compliance with EU legal requirements and Microsoft's corporate standards concerning the processing of personal data, as stipulated in GDPR Articles 37-39.

Qualifications

  • Required Experience:
    • Minimum of 7 years of professional data protection experience, OR
    • Combination of 10 years in data protection, security, and enterprise risk management.
  • Expertise:
    • Demonstrated expertise in international data protection law and practices.

Nature of the Role

  • Responsibilities:
    • Involvement in all key issues related to personal data protection.
    • Review and advise on all Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) at Microsoft.
    • Monitor compliance with GDPR and internal policies.

Position of the Data Protection Officer

  • Reporting:
    • Reports directly to Microsoft's Chief Privacy Officer within the Corporate and Legal Affairs division.
  • Autonomy:
    • Operates independently without bias.
  • Resources:
    • Access to necessary training and customer response resources.
  • Confidentiality:
    • Bound by a non-disclosure agreement.
