How to Launch Make.com Automations with Notion Databases

Watch Database or Pages Module

Description:

  • Trigger Module: Launch scenarios in Make.com
  • Runs when a page/database is created or updated in Notion

Setup:

  1. Select Type: Choose to watch databases or pages
  2. Optional Query: Enter a keyword search
  3. Item Limit: Set a limit and run the scenario to gather test data
  4. Test Data: Retrieves data for future scenario steps
  5. Filter (example): Send Slack message with page name and URL

Filter Conditions:

  • Only for new pages: created time == last edited time
  • Only for updated pages: created time != last edited time
  • Filter by: title, contributor, tag, etc.

Watch Database Items Module

Description:

  • Trigger automations on adding/updating database items

Setup:

  1. Select Watch Type: Created time or updated time
    • Created: Runs on new entry
    • Updated: Runs on updates or new entry
  2. Database ID: Obtain and enter the database ID from Notion URL
  3. Test Data: Run the module to gather test data
  4. Example Action: Send Slack message with update link

Watch Page Contents Module

Description:

  • Trigger automations on page content updates

Setup:

  1. Select Page: Choose from a list (ensure unique title)
  2. Content Block Limit: Set limit for each automation run
  3. Test Data: Run the module to gather test data
  4. Example Action: Send Slack message for each content block

Filter Conditions:

  • Example: Run only if content is a heading (type contains heading)
