Types of Past Tense

Past Indefinite Tense
- Identification: End of sentence with "या", "ए", "ई", etc.
- Structure: Subject + V2 (Second form of verb) + Object
- Example: वह गया (He went), उसने खाना खाया (He ate food)
- Key Point: Remember the second form of the verb.

Negative Sentences in Past Indefinite
- Structure: Subject + did not + V1 + Object
- Example: मैंने नहीं पढ़ाया (I did not teach)

Past Continuous Tense
- Identification: End of sentence with "रहा था", "रहे थे".
- Structure: Subject + was/were + V4 (Fourth form of verb) + Object
- Example: वह जा रहा था (He was going)

Past Perfect Tense
- Identification: End of sentence with "चुका था", "चुकी थी".
- Structure: Subject + had + V3 (Third form of verb) + Object
- Example: वह खाना खा चुका था (He had eaten the food)
- Concept: For two past events, the one that happened first is made in Past Perfect.

- Identification: End of sentence with "रहा था" and a time duration given.
- Structure: Subject + had been + V4 + Object + since/for + Time
- Example: मैं दो घंटे से पढ़ रहा था (I had been studying for two hours)
