Hi guys and welcome back to the channel. In this video, I will share this with you how you can decide which MBA college you can get into. Along with that, the colleges that you are getting, whom should you choose to select. The simplest factor through which you can determine which MBA college you can get into is the percentile cutoff. The cutoff is based on the basis of any exam. If a college sets a cutoff for the CAT exam at 80 percentile. It means those students who score above the 80th percentile in the CAT exam. They will only call those people for the interview. I will share a list of MBA colleges with you. This list has been created collaboratively by Study Buzz YouTube channel and me. They did a lot of research, due to which we were able to find out which are those B-schools that fall into different cutoff ranges. Meaning, based on a rough estimate using previous years' trends. If you achieve this percentile in your CAT exam, which colleges could you potentially get into? The first bracket we'll discuss is below 70 percentile. I would recommend students falling into this bracket to reconsider once. Would you want to retake the CAT exam again next year? If you're scoring below the 70th percentile, there is a lot of scope for improving your marks. If you feel you can take the exam again, you definitely should. If you feel like pursuing an MBA this year, then towards the end of the video, I'll recommend what you can do. The second bracket is for the 70-80 percentile. For students who feel they can achieve such a score, here are some colleges to target. The first one is Welingkar. A detailed video about Welingkar will be coming to the channel soon. The second one is the Soil Institute of Management. A video about it has already been posted. Next are Christ, ITM, IMT Nagpur or Hyderabad, UPES. The Asia Center of SDA Bocconi, another video about it will be released soon on the channel. And finally, IBS Hyderabad. After that, the list of colleges for those scoring between 80-85 percentile follows. This includes IFMR, NIRMA, Loyola College, Welingkar's main campus; when the Welingkar's video comes, it will become clear, BIMTECH, FMS BHU, NIBM, XIME, NITs, and UBS. Following that, the next range is 85 to 90 percentile. In this list, there are some colleges for which videos have already been made like BITSoM, immediately followed by Goa Institute of Management. Recently, videos have been uploaded on both of them on the channel. After that, there's IRMA, then Great Lakes, followed by KJ Som, and then TAPMI. Similarly, there's BIM Trichy, FORE, and LBS. The next bracket is for those scoring between 90-95 percentile. After this, the colleges that come are very close, meaning their cutoffs vary significantly. So it's essential to apply carefully. In this, first come the IITs, then colleges of Delhi University like DFS and DSE. After that, there's IMT and XIMB, both of which are excellent colleges. Next is MICA; for this, you also need to take the MICAT, which is a separate exam. And then, there's IMI. The final list is for those who score above 95 percentile. There are two colleges that can even consider scores above 98 percentile, which are FMS and IIT Bombay. The remaining colleges are MDI and SPJIMR, both of which are highly reputed. After that, there's IIM Mumbai, which is the latest addition to the IIMs. Then comes IIT Delhi, and finally, IISc. So, these were some rough numbers that you can consider. These numbers are an estimate based on previous trends that Saurabh and I, Saurabh being
the founder of Study Buzz, have compiled. We have created these numbers together in order to help you understand which colleges you can target. If you need any updates related to these MBA colleges, such as when their forms are released or how to fill out those forms, you can subscribe to the Study Buzz channel. I had actually partnered with them for this video because any updates like these are first released on their channel. In fact, they have also created a video for CAT 2024 in which they have formulated a detailed plan. So, if any of you are targeting 2024, you can also check out this video. Study Buzz's next batch for CAT 2024 will commence on the 15th of December. Here's some information for you: the first two classes are entirely free as a demo. If you want to assess their teaching style, I'll add the Zoom links in the description and pinned comment of this video. You can simply save the dates and links. By clicking on them on the specified date, you'll be able to attend their live session. This was about which colleges you can get into. The second point is, out of these colleges that you can get into, which college should you join. It majorly depends on three factors. The first, even though a lot of people may say, is that it doesn't make a difference but the most significant impact comes from this itself, which is placements versus fees. This is called ROI, return on investment. How much fee you paid versus how much placement you got in return. Many people forget to consider that the fee you pay is for two years, but the package you see in the placement report is only for one year. Never assume that if the fee is 25 lakhs and the average package is 20 lakhs, that 20 lakhs is only the first-year package. After that, there will be subsequent growth in your package as well. The second factor is the brand name. The better the brand name of any college, the better recruiters come to hire from there, and the higher package you receive. The second factor is to also consider how the image of that particular brand is in the market. Many people choose IIMs over FMS, even when FMS has an incredibly great ROI. Meaning, despite such low fees and a package similar to IIMs, people go to IIMs because of their brand name. The third factor to consider is the network. It's a common saying that your MBA college gets you the first job, but your network gets you the second and third job. For this, check how the alumni network is for the target B-schools you have in mind. Go to LinkedIn, type the college's name, and see where the graduated individuals are working in their second or third jobs. Which companies are they in? Because chances are, they might have gotten those jobs through their own referrals, through their network. It's crucial for you to see where your seniors or potential seniors are working. These will be those three factors. My last word of caution to you is to make sure that before joining any college, you must speak to their alumni or current students. Many times the placement reports do not reflect the true figures. You can do it either through LinkedIn, or Reddit, Quora, Pagal Guy, there are numerous WhatsApp groups, Facebook groups, Telegram groups of aspirants. You can join them and ask for feedback there. Even if nothing else, at least there's our community. Comment which college you are targeting. I will try to request students from that college to reply to your comments so that your questions can be addressed. Let's finally talk about those who don't want to take the exam next year and want to join any college this year, even when their percentile is, let's say, less than 70 percentile. I would highly recommend that if you want to join any college, at least understand how your career progression will be after graduating from there. Does that college have a 100% placement or not? If yes, what kind of companies come to hire from there? You should also check on LinkedIn where people from that college have landed. Similarly, join a business school that has a minimum threshold during placements. Many MBA colleges say that they won't invite companies offering packages below 6 lakhs. So, pick colleges that provide you with an assured benchmark that guarantees you'll receive offers above that benchmark. I hope this video has provided you with a good reference point. If there's any information in your knowledge that I might have stated incorrectly or if there's any mistake from my end in the video, feel free to correct me in the comments section. I truly hope that this helps you. Thank you so much for watching, guys. See you next time.
