Controversy of the Rizal Law Explained

Hello magandang buhay sa inyong lahat. For today's video, I'm going to reflect about the Rizal Law and their major controversy. But before that, I am Irene Kiiling.

Let's go to our topic. So, Republic Act No. 1425 or Rizal Law. So what is RASAL Law? The RASAL Law is officially designated as Republic Act No. 1425 as a Philippine law that mandates all educational institutions in the Philippines to offer courses about who's a RASAL.

So what is RASAL Law? Will it give rise to the implementation of a RASAL subject as a requirement to our courses in tertiary education? Meaning to say, all courses in college need to have a subject named RASAL. and each student must take this subject.

So, the history of Resalo. Senate Bill 438 known as Resaldis, authorized by Senator Claro M. Recto, is considered one of the most controversial bills in the Philippines. Recto originally bill made it obligatory for college and university student to study the life and works of Jose Rizal.

So, Republic Act No. 1425, commonly known as Rizal Law, was authored by Senator Clara Recto and was signed into law by President Ramon Magsaysay on June 12, 1956. So, nung hindi pa siya naipapasa sa Senate Bill, ang tawag dito ay Rizal Bill. So, but what made it controversial? Risalo is one of the most controversial bills in the Philippines.

As I said a while ago. So before, it was not passed. So why was it considered one of the most controversial? Because it involves the Catholic Church, they are involved in passing the Risalo.

Aside from the Catholic Church, there are people who are against the passing of Risalo. So the issue once of the bill was not overcome by the values, um quarters the catholic charge in the particular assail the result bill as anti-church so church human unas but contrast scenic bill 48 so bucket naba against him catholic charge the public wasa sarisalo according to catholic church it might destroy their catholic dogmas according to republic act number 1425 aside from studying the life of The Life of Rizal, the literary works of his students will also be studied. His famous literary works, especially the two novels, Noli Mi Tangere and El Polivisterismo.

So this is what the church is afraid of, that the students will read his novel. If the story of Noli Mi Tangere and El Polivisterismo is to be returned, then the story of the official government of Rizal will be returned. government official at the same time the Spanish prior so he believed in the operation of the Spanish prior the injustice and abuse they did to the Indians in the Philippines more information about their major controversy why did it become a major controversy the Catholic Church against Rizal Law and Senator Claro M. Recto.

When the Catholic Church in the Philippines found out about Recto's legal system, it forced its forces to stop the legal system from being legal. So, almost 70 years after the non-limitangere was abolished, the Church still considered Rizal's novel as a freedom. The Catholic Church in the Philippines 120 years have passed since both of them used the same influence to stop the novels that Filipinos read.

Manila Archbishop Rupino Santos wrote a heart-breaking letter to a young pastor who protested against the law. The letter was read by all the pastors in the country, and was read by Manila Mayor Arsenio Lacson. who appeared on the church when he heard the pastoral letter being read.

So, Laxon is one of the most vocal supporters of the Resanguil. In his pastoral letter, Archbishop said, Santos was forced to read the original version of the novel by Rizal, which had a negative effect on the students. So, the authors of the novel were accused of being communist and anti-Catholic.

So, next is the Churches from an Aliens against Recto and Rizalville. So, a group of religious people in the church is rallying to prevent the passing of the Constitution. Among the most active groups that joined the Rizal Bill are the Catholic Action of the Philippines, the Knights of Columbus, the Congregation of the Mission, and the Catholic Teacher Guild.

So, the Catholic Church is calling for these religious people to write. to the law-makers to ask them to cut the law. The Catholic groups organized symposiums on why this should not be a law.

One of the symposiums was organized by Father Nectalo, who was also the author of the novel Jesus, may be a represent sa kasalukuyang kondisyon sa simbahan. Si Cabana ang may akda ng aklat na Rizal's Unfading Glory, a Document History of the Conversation of Dr. Jose Rizal na inilatha noong 1956 pagkatapos ng pagbasa ng Rizal Law at ang aklat na nagdedetailer sa pagbalikloob ni Jose Rizal sa Katolismo. So, Catholic School rejected the Rizal Law and threatened shutdown. Not only the church and clergymen are strongly against the Resolve Bill, Catholic schools across the country have joined in supporting the Resolve Bill. Some Catholic schools have even warned that the Resolve Bill will close if it becomes law.

Senator Recto has also said that the government will only take ang pangasiwaan ng paaralan ito kung isasara nila at isasabanda ang mga ito. Sabi nga ni Recto, ang mga taong mag-aalis ng akda ni Rizal sa mga paaralan ay magpapawi sa ating isipan ang alaala ng pambansang bayani. Hindi ito laban kay Recto, kundi laban kay Rizal. So, next. So, Compromise between the Catholic Church and the Rizal Bill sponsor.

The Rizal Bill became a legal bill after the compromise was reached through the Catholic Church and the jurors. The jurors, especially Recto, agreed on the condition of reducing the moral part of Rizal's novel. Before teaching this to the scholars, they called it... expurgated version. In addition, only colleges and universities will teach these materials and their students.

So, the Rizal Law, I said that the Rizal Law was implemented in July 12, 1956 along with the Day of the Liberation of the Philippines. So, my personal standpoint, So, kung ito ba ay relevance sa significance of RISAL today and generation which poses a question whether RISAL course should still be taught in the Philippine school or not. Ako para sa akin, it's important. So, it's a great importance that the subject understand the rationale behind having to take up a RISAL course in the college.

For high school student, the no limitang here and el pulo de Cristo. are injected into the Filipino subject as a part of overall curriculum and the tertiary education. However, so Rizal is a subject required to of any course in a college or university in the Philippines.

So this is his importance. For me, this is his importance to recognize the importance of Rizal's ideals and teaching in the relation to present condition and situation in society. So to encourage the application of such ideas in in current social and personal problems in issue and of course to develop an appreciation and deeper understanding to all of result um thought and died for number four to foster the development of the filipino youth in all aspect and citizen so maraming salamat po and that's my reflection about um risal law and their mutual controversy
