Truth unedited Post-Gospel Events and Early Church

In the last part of this series, part 43, we saw the completion of the gospel, the resurrection of Yahshua. We saw Yahshua rise from the dead and speak with his disciples for the last time. This was the gospel of Yahshua HaMashiach, and by believing in this, we will be saved. We're now at a point in this series where we need to know what happened after the gospel. Many people know the strong points in the gospel, but what happens after is not often understood by the majority. This information can be found in the book of Acts. After Yahshua was raised from the dead, the news first appeared in Jerusalem and then spread quickly from person to person, city to city. It faced opposition everywhere it went, but the world could not stop it. The followers of Yahshua went out and fulfilled the charge Yahshua commanded of them and preached the gospel. This is the history of the church. This is how we all have the gospel today, because of the history of these apostles. Listen to their accounts and apply their lives to yours as examples. If you watched this series, you know the gospel. Now you will know how to be in his church. Let's begin. The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Yahshua began both to do and teach, until the day in which he was taken up, after he, through the Holy Spirit, had given commandments to the apostles whom he had chosen, to whom he also presented himself alive. after his suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of things pertaining to the kingdom of Elohim. The book of Acts was written by Luke. He wrote this book to show the fulfillment of Yahshua's word. This book was written for Theophilus, a man we don't know much about except for the fact that Luke also wrote his first gospel for him as well, as we see in Luke chapter 1 verse 3. He gives him a title of Most excellent Theophilus, which means he must be a person of high rank. Yahshua was with his disciples for 40 days, speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of Elohim. And this is what Luke will be explaining in this account. Let's continue. And being assembled together with them, he commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which he said, You have heard from me, for John truly baptized with water. but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now. Therefore, when they had come together, they asked him, saying, Adonai, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel? And he said to them, It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in his own authority, but you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. The disciples did not receive the Ruach HaKodesh when they were walking with Yahshua during his ministry. Yahshua now was telling them to wait in Jerusalem to receive the promise of the Father. They would be receiving the Holy Spirit. The book of Acts and the beginning of the church would not be possible without the Holy Spirit. In the Gospels, the apostles walked with Yahshua personally. In the book of Acts, all the way to this present time, Yahweh walks with all believers because of his spirit which was always promised. The disciples thought that receiving the Holy Spirit meant that the Messiah was now going to establish his kingdom. Yahshua corrected their view in regard to the timing of when this would happen. It's not for them or us to know, but our jobs are to be witnesses of him to the ends of the earth. It's important to note that he told them that they were about to receive power. The Holy Spirit is power, and he equips us to carry out our commissions. I made a video about the Holy Spirit so you can learn more. about the Ruach HaKodesh. Now when he had spoken these things, while they watched, he was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven, as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Yahshua who was taken up from you into heaven will so come in like manner as you saw him go into heaven. So Yahshua has now ascended and left the earth physically, but he did not leave us as he promised. He is with us always. He fulfilled this promise through the Holy Spirit who dwells in all believers. So while we see him leave, just know that he has not left. His second coming and the establishment of his kingdom will occur the same way he ascended, physically, visibly, and in the clouds. Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet. which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath-day journey. And when they had entered, they went up into the upper room where they were staying. Peter, James, John, and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James, the son of Alphaeus, and Simon the Zealot, and Judas, the son of James. These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the woman and Mary, the mother of Yahshua, and with his brothers. And in those days, Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples. All together the number of names was about a hundred and twenty, and said, Men and brethren, this scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Yahshua. For he was numbered with us, and obtained a part in this ministry. Now this man purchased a field with the wages of iniquity, and falling headlong he burst open in the middle, and all his entrails gushed out. And it became known to all those dwelling in Jerusalem. So that field is called in their own language, Akaldama, that is, field of blood. For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his dwelling place be desolate, and let no one live in it, and let another take his office. Therefore, of these men who have accompanied us, all the time that they had done Yahshua went in and out among us, beginning from the baptism of John to that day when he was taken up from us, one of these, must become a witness with us of his resurrection. And they proposed two, Joseph, called Barsabbas, who was surnamed Justice, and Matthias. And they prayed and said, You, O Yahweh, who know the hearts of all, show which of these two you have chosen to take part in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place. And they cast their lots, and the lot fell on Matthias. and he was numbered with the 11 apostles. There were about 120 people gathered. This was probably those who saw the risen Messiah personally. Remember, Yahshua spent most of his time with the 12 disciples, but there were many other disciples who traveled with Yahshua. Because Judas Iscariot defected and betrayed Yahshua, they wanted another to take his office. When Peter mentioned the Psalms, he was speaking of Psalm 69, verse 25. which spoke of the removal of an enemy. In Psalm chapter 109 verse 8, which mentions the replacement of an enemy by someone else. This is what they were now doing. But there were two qualifications needed for this appointed apostle. The first qualification was that he had to have accompanied the disciples from the beginning of Yahshua's ministry, his baptism with John. Basically, the replacement needed to be an eyewitness to the many miracles Yahshua did. The second qualification is that they needed to be an eyewitness to Yahshua's resurrection. Matthias was chosen, and he is now considered to be one of the twelve apostles, replacing Judas Iscariot. And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly, there came a sound from heaven. as of a rushing way he went and it filled all the house where they were sitting and there appeared unto them divided tongues as a fire and it sat upon each of them and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance and there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men out of every nation under heaven now when this sound occurred the multitude came together and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, Look, are not all these who speak Galileans? And how is it that we hear each man in our own language, in which we were born, Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea, and Cappadocia, Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia, and Pophilia, and Egypt, and in the parts of Libya, about Cyrene and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabians. We do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of Elohim, and they were all amazed and were in doubt, saying to one another, What could this mean? Others mocking said, They are full of new wine. But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you. and heed my words for these are not drunk as you suppose since it is only the third hour of the day but this is what was spoken by the prophet joel and it shall come to pass in the last days says elohim that I will pour out my spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams, and all my men servants and all my maidservants I will pour out my spirit in those days. And they shall prophesy, I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath, blood and fire and vapor of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the mood into blood, before the coming of the Lord. of the great and awesome day of Yahweh. And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of Yahweh shall be saved. Men of Israel, hear these words. Yahshua of Nazareth, a man attested by Elohim to you by miracles, wonders, and signs, which Elohim did through him in your midst, as you yourselves also know. Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of Elohim, you have taken by lawless hands. have crucified and put to death whom elohim raised up having loosed the pains of death because it was not possible that he should be held by it for david says concerning him i foresaw yahweh always before my face for he is at my right hand that i may not be shaken therefore my heart rejoiced and my tongue was glad moreover my flesh also will rest in hope for you will not leave my soul in hell nor will you allow your holy one to see corruption. You have made known to me the ways of life. You will make me full of joy in your presence. Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. Therefore, being a prophet and knowing that Elohim has sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, he would raise up the Messiah to sit on his throne, he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Messiah, that his soul was not left in hell, nor did his flesh see corruption. Yahweh has raised up this Yahshua, of which we all are witnesses. Therefore, being exalted to the right hand of Elohim, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he poured out this which you now see and hear. For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he says himself, Yahweh said to me, Adonai, sit. and my right hand, till I make your enemies your footstool. Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that Elohim has made this Yahshua, whom you crucified, both Adon and Messiah. Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said to them, Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Yahshua HaMashiach. for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the holy spirit for the promise is to you and to your children and to all who are far off as many as yahweh our elohim will call and with many other words he testified and exhorted them saying be saved from this perverse generation then those who gladly received his word were baptized and that day about three thousand souls were added to them and they continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrines and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising Elohim, and having favor with all the people. and they then added to the church daily those who were being saved. This is absolutely one of the most important chapters in the book of Acts. What you see in the book of Acts is the creation of the church. This is the beginning of the bride of the Messiah. Let's review what occurred. This was the day of Pentecost, also known as the festival of weeks, or the day of first fruits. It was one of the three major Jewish festivals, the other two being Passover, and the Feast of Tabernacles. This particular day of Pentecost was the day of first fruits of the Messiah's church. This was the beginning of the great harvesting and gathering of souls who would come to know the Messiah and be joined together through the work of the Holy Spirit. The sound of the mighty wind caught the attention of those outside the gathering of the apostles. Everyone in the gathering started speaking in tongues, and the noise was so loud that others not a part of the gathering came to find out what was going on. Now there's a point that needs to be made clear. There are denominations that... use this event as the way that is only supposed to happen. They feel the evidence of being filled with the Holy Spirit is only evident through speaking in tongues, because this is what happened the first day when the apostles received the Holy Spirit. Scripture does not say this, though. This is an assumption made by people not placing full understanding of what was occurring. This was the first day of the church. This one event gathered a lot of attention, and this was the purpose why it happened this way. It was a sign for unbelievers. it got their attention. Though the apostles were speaking in these new tongues, the multitudes that gathered heard them in their own language. When you hear people today speaking on evidence of having the Holy Spirit, this is not one thing that they mention. The majority don't say that they spoke in a new tongue and other people were able to understand what they were saying in their own language. The point I want to make is that yes, tongues can be evidence of being indwelled with the Holy Spirit, but it is not the only evidence. And if you hold on to this belief, you leave yourself vulnerable to being deceived by Satan. Satan also has his own tongues, and many people today are deceived by these tongues. The Kundalini Spirit is one of those spirits that provides this deception. And if you are only looking for someone to speak in new tongues as evidence of the Holy Spirit, then you can be deceived. Yes, the first apostles spoke in new tongues, but this is not the only evidence of the Holy Spirit. That doctrine is made for man. Man made an assumption that because the first church spoke in tongues, everyone else following will. But there is not one scripture that tells us this. This is just an inference. 1 Corinthians chapter 14 verse 22 says, Tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe, but to unbelievers. Yet today, it's many believers that look for this sign in other believers. The whole 14th chapter of 1 Corinthians will bring clarification about speaking in tongues. There are many gifts of the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians chapter 12 verses 4 through 11 say, There are diversity of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Adon. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same Elohim who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge, through the same spirit, to another faith by the same spirit, to another gifts of healing by the same spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as he wills. I don't think that scripture could be any clearer. It says the Holy Spirit has all these gifts, but he distributes to each one individually as he wills. The point I want to be clear is that there are many different gifts provided by the Holy Spirit. Someone that tells you that you do not have the Holy Spirit because you do not have one of these gifts is speaking through a false understanding. Having tongues or not having tongues is not the only evidence of having the Holy Spirit. Now, the men who heard the apostles were from every nation. They came from all over. Here is a map that displays the many different countries of people mentioned. Some were amazed and others thought that they were just drunk of new wine. Peter then began giving a sermon. He quoted Joel chapter 2 verses 28 through 32 and Psalm chapter 16 verses 8 through 11. He explained that him and those apostles were a fulfillment of that prophecy. Peter explained that Joel prophesied that the spirit would come. Yahshua fulfilled that promise when he sent the spirit. If Yahshua was dead, he could not have sent the spirit. Therefore, he must be alive. Now the point that he's making about David comes from Psalm 16, showing that because David had been buried and had not come back to life, the psalm had to be speaking about someone else. Peter pointed out that Yahshua, David's heir, was put to death and resurrected, and now he is at the right hand of Elohim. Based from the points Peter made, His conclusion is that Yahshua, who Israel crucified, is both Adon and Messiah. Because his argument through the scriptures was irrefutable, verse 37 said the information cut to the heart. The men of Israel asked Peter, what should they do? And this verse goes for us all. If you now believe in Yahshua and claim him as master and Messiah, Acts chapter 2 verse 38 is your direction. It says, repent. and let every one of you be baptized in the name of of Yahshua HaMashiach for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This is what you need to do. This is how you become a part of the church. This is exactly what 3,000 men did on that day of Pentecost. This was the beginning of the church. They repented and were baptized. Then they fellowshiped, broke bread, and grew in doctrine. They sold all their possessions and divided what they had amongst each other. and just fellowshiped with each other. And this is what the church is. Today, if people did this, sadly, they probably would be looked at as being in a cult. That's just a sign of the times that we're in today. But this is what the church is. They didn't just show up to hear a sermon on Sunday and then live as the rest of the world did the other six days of the week. They committed their lives to the gospel and spreading the message so that the world would hear the gospel. This doesn't mean in order for you to be in the church, you must sell all your possessions. We all are in the world with different ministries and different people to minister to. The main point is committing your life to him. Your possessions are just resources to assist you with your ministry. Just don't ever place them in priority over him. When you do that, then yes, the best thing to do would be to sell all your possessions. Beware of idols. But this is how the church started. It was an awesome day. Now we'll stop here at the beginning of the story of the church. This is what you need to know from this part of the series. 1. The book of Acts was written by Luke. 2. The disciples did not receive the Ruach HaKodesh when they were walking with Yahshua during his ministry. Yahshua told them to wait in Jerusalem to receive the promise of the Father. They would be receiving the Holy Spirit. 3. They were about to receive power. The Holy Spirit is power, and he equips us to carry out our commissions. 4. Though Yahshua left the earth physically, he did not leave us. He fulfilled his promise to never leave us by leaving us with the Ruach HaKodesh. 5. Yahshua's second coming and the establishment of his kingdom will occur the same way he ascended. Physically, visibly, and in the clouds. 6. Matthias was chosen to be one of the twelve apostles, replacing Judas Iscariot. 7. Acts chapter 2 is one of the most important chapters in the book of Acts. It describes the creation of the church. 8. The church was started on the day of Pentecost. This day was the beginning of the great harvesting and gathering of souls who will come to know the Messiah and be joined together through the work of the Holy Spirit. 9. Tongues can be evidence of being indwelled with the Holy Spirit. but it is not the only evidence. Satan also has his own tongues, and many people today are deceived by these tongues. The Kundalini Spirit is one of those spirits that provides this deception. And if you are only looking for someone to speak in new tongues as the only evidence of the Holy Spirit, then you can be deceived. 10. There are many gifts of the Holy Spirit found in 1 Corinthians chapter 12. Having tongues or not having tongues is not the only evidence of the Holy Spirit. 11. Peter quoted Joel chapter 2 verses 28 through 32 and Psalm chapter 16 verses 8 through 11 as his irrefutable points on why Yahshua was master and the Messiah. 12. If you now believe in Yahshua and claim him as master and Messiah, Acts chapter 2 verse 38 is your direction. Repent and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Yahshua HaMashiach for the remission of sins. and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This is what you need to do. This is how you become a part of the church. 13. On the day of Pentecost, 3,000 men were the beginning of the church, and that number has grown exponentially since that time. Going through the book of Acts gives us a good foundation as members in the body of Messiah. The church during those times does not resemble the modern-day church that the majority knows of today. The church was built on conviction and true love for Yahshua. The world was forever changed after this day of Pentecost. It wasn't divided by denominations and worldly traditions. They were united in one purpose, and that's to spread the gospel and be living representatives of Yahshua. And this is what we are all called to do. Be a living representation of Yahshua. He has a ministry for you. There are people that you can help. There is guidance that you can provide. If you are not a member of his church, Now make that the first thing that you do. Receive the Holy Spirit and be led by him. The church is not an organization. It is the collective body of believers in Yahshua who are now spread all over the world. We are set apart and we are redeemed. Now we must help others be the same way. This is what your purpose is. Your purpose is to spread the good news and help others live through it. So please fulfill your purpose. We are all separated by distance, some small and great. But we are all brought together through our unity and love for our Savior. It will be a great day when I meet all of you, when we are all together worshiping Elohim. But until that day comes, continue to fulfill His calling and will in your life. And be His vessel so that others will be redeemed just like you. Be His bride. His church is redeemed. Okay, thanks again for watching.
