now I'm not saying they definitely did it I'm just saying I have some questions As many of you probably know over the past couple of weeks the entirety of the JFK files have been released In 1992 Bush signed the JFK assassination records collection act which is an effort to amass and publicize all documents related to the assassination of John F Kennedy However because of things like the Church Committee or the House Select Committee on Assassinations or the Warren Commission when JFK's assassination was being investigated they didn't just investigate FBI and CIA matters as they relate to him They investigated everything federal agencies were doing at the time Which means that the JFK files while yes containing information about JFK also contain information about spies in foreign countries or meddling with foreign elections or spying on American citizens When Bush signed the act in 1992 it said that 25 years from that date all of the information relating to JFK and the JFK files was to be released to the public Because of that 25 years later in 2017 several of the documents were released but they were heavily redacted and some of the records were outright held from the public And between 2017 and now a few files were released But in January Trump signed Executive Order 14176 which ordered all documents to be released and unredacted Now over the past couple weeks this new release has resulted in over 60,000 pages and over 3,000 new documents And while I understand that's a lot to dig through I have far too much time on my hands and decided to do that for you And I know the question on everyone's mind is there actually anything in there What do the JFK files tell us and I will be upfront with you right now I am blown away that they actually released this stuff Sure there's no piece of paper that says "Yes we shot the president That was us." But there are several documents that outright say things from the CIA themselves that people were getting written off as crazy conspiracy theorists for saying a couple decades ago new information about Lee Harvey Oswald fights that were happening between the FBI and the CIA behind the scenes the CIA setting up fake companies in order to get logistical benefits These files give us so many new pieces of the puzzle and I'm excited to talk about them So if that sounds interesting to you then stick around after the ad as we get into the newly released JFK files I should also mention that the We are going to go ahead and get into it But as always thank you for watching So first thing I want to get out of the way is there is a lot here and I promise I have done my best 60,000 pages is a lot and it got into several moments where I was just reading stuff I had no idea what it concerned because a lot of these documents are out of order and just put together in one report So it may be mentioning names or dates that mean nothing to me that in reality I would need 10 other documents across the CIA records to figure out what it's talking about So I used a combination of documents that I found to be the most interesting or pertinent as well as several people online who were talking about interesting things that they found and then figuring out what file they were talking about then finding that original file then figuring out how that connected to the hole In other words let this video serve as bullet points for interesting things in the files But someone who is far more educated than I can come along and do a much better job connecting a lot of the threads And this should really be viewed as a starting point for people who are looking to dive into this mess And in the spirit of that all of the records are housed at the National Archives website So for all of the excerpts I'm reading I'm going to display on screen the National Archives database number for that document So if you want to read more about something or learn the context of something I'm talking about you can just type it in and see it for yourself So after wasting enough of your time let's get into some of the information that I find interesting Starting with the thing everyone's wanting to know about Oswald So the main question surrounding Lee Harvey Oswald is was he acting alone because a lot of his movements especially right before the assassination seem pretty suspicious I mean if he was a supposed madman with a rifle what's with him traveling to Cuba and Mexico and trying to get back into Russia and throughout the assassination investigations the CIA denied any hard knowledge of what Oswald supposedly did in Mexico or Cuba or what his travels were before the assassination They had briefly mentioned that Oswald was a person of interest but they never examined him too closely Well as we know now that was a lie In this CIA letter we see a report on someone named Valerie Costikov who worked at the Soviet embassy in Mexico City Specifically it says "In September or October of 1963 Lee Harvey Oswald approached the Soviet embassy in Mexico City in an attempt to get a visa allowing him to return to the USSR Costakov as a consular officer handled this visa request We have no information which indicates any relationship between these individuals other than for the purpose of Oswald's making his visa request This raises an interesting question If the narrative around Oswald is to be believed and he was simply acting alone why was he trying to get back into the USSR a month before he shot the president also while the document says it doesn't seem that Costicov knew Oswald outside of this event that Costicov was just the agent Oswald so happened to talk to uh they go on later into the report to kind of dog the guy a little bit when they say "While in Mexico he was considered by some to be the most effective and dangerous of intelligence officers in Mexico He has been described as being without morals education and manners." Shortly after his arrival in Mexico in 1968 he was arrested in front of a house of prostitution after becoming involved in a fist fight with some locals Also to clarify the timeline in other parts of the report it says that he arrived in Mexico in 1961 left in 1963 and then returned in 1968 So that's why it said shortly after arriving There's also a ton of other leads concerning Oswald that were investigated and are now public Like for example there's a letter from a guy named Sergey Kazorno Kazornono Kazorno And in a letter that he wrote on March 15th of 1978 to the British embassy He says "On July 18th 1963 I was in London England at the airport immigration office number 175 I had no visa immigration Placed me under house arrest Mr Smith in police uniform secret service brought me steak dinner and police officer interrogated me He asked me what the embassy of USSR say What did you heard in Vienna Austria i said I have heard that one American defector Mr Lee Harvey Oswald to Russia and he returned to United States of America This man he preparing to kill to assassinate President John F Kennedy Now the reason for the grammar being the way that it is is because this guy's Russian so English is a second language And he goes on through the rest of the letter to say that he was also told that Martin Luther King Jr would be killed and that the person that is supposed to kill him James Earl Ray is in prison at that time He also then says that he offered to take the truth drug to tell the truth and that he was tortured with mind drugs And all of that information could be really cool or effective if it wasn't written a decade after all those things happened If you want to know how 60,000 pages got released it's because the majority of them are that a lot of this information has been redacted or kept out of the public's eye up until this point because it includes individuals who like no wrongdoing was found or private information like addresses or social security numbers things that by the way are all public now Like any one of these people if they were still alive you could just drive to their house But for every bit of good data you have to wade through tfold of the bad which I guess is how the real investigation probably went What's funny is this guy got a letter back that was pretty much just like "Wow that sucks." Anyway also a ton of the files are just things like this effectively paperwork Like this document is the Australian CIA messaging the American CIA to ask if America could withhold some of the information regarding Australia whenever this information goes public There are no joke several files in here that are just the piece of paper that says the file is being moved somewhere else But again if it was related to the JFK files it got released Now this document related to Oswald raises an actually interesting point It says that in 1991 a United States professor named EB Smith had several conversations with a man named Nakonov Nikonov is deputy to the KGB director The KGB is effectively Russia's CIA In this internal CIA communication which by the way not to be lame but seeing words like temporary working copy destroy after use and secret on something you're reading feels kind of cool According to this internal CIA communication Smith said in section 5 quote "Nikonov's first assignment from Bakitin he's the director of the KGB was making arrangements for the KGB CIA liaison relationship which has now come into being." Which that sentence alone opens a whole can of worms But anyway in preparation for one possible question which might be raised Donov personally reviewed KGB files to determine if Lee Harvey Oswald had been a KGB agent He reviewed five thick volumes of files on Oswald Nakonov is now confident that Oswald was at no time an agent controlled by the KGB From the description of Oswald in the files he doubted that anyone could control Oswald but noted that the KGB watched him closely and constantly while he was in the USSR He commented that Oswald had a stormy relationship with his Soviet wife who rode him incessantly The file also reflected that Oswald was a poor shot when he tried target firing in the USSR Now while Eie Smith can be assumed to be reliable considering he is an American professor that taught for a while in Moscow and is willing to give information about Moscow to the CIA that doesn't mean that Nikonov had to tell him the truth But some of the little details that Nikonov mentions indicates that he probably was That Nikonov was interested enough to see if his agency had hired or enlisted Oswald to kill the United States president The mention that the KGB was watching Oswald while he was in the USSR also makes sense because he was an American marine that defected to Russia and then left Russia to come back to the United States So I'm sure they had their suspicions about him just as the CIA had their suspicions about him but we'll get to that The mention that the details of the file indicate Oswald would be hard to control makes sense considering he kind of seemed to be erratic at least through a lot of the stories we know about him now And of course the mention of being a poor shot is kind of telling Not long ago I visited Dallas and went to the location of the shooting And I do have to admit it's not that hard of a shot but to hypothetically fire three shots that quickly at a moving target required some degree of marksmanship Also for the record uh the last time I talked about the JFK assassination to this degree was in one of the earliest videos on the channel I proved the JFK conspiracy with a whiteboard And I'm glad that you guys liked that video and it grew the channel that means a lot But to be honest my standards for research then uh are nothing compared to what they are now I've changed a lot of my opinions regarding the case and a lot of the logistics of it Um I do think now firmly that Oswald was a shooter Uh my question is was he the only shooter and if he was a trigger man who was he pulling that trigger on the behalf of was it himself or something else so I don't read this last sentence saying that Oswald was a poor shot to mean Oswald wasn't a shooter I read that to mean either himself or someone else invested to get him better There's other things in the files that relate to Oswald and the JFK assassination Uh but you're going to need more context from other things mentioned in the files for them to make sense at this point So we'll come back to that later For now I want to talk about some other things that came out of these files because to be completely honest the wildest craziest things that we have found out now have nothing to do with the assassination See when these assassination committees were doing their investigations into the CIA and the FBI they wanted all of the information that related to agents who were involved in the assassination investigations and they wanted all information regarding what the CIA was doing around the time So that blew the lid on a ton of weird information Uh now again the stuff that I am talking about today is the things that have come out over the last two weeks But in the JFK files that started to get released in 2017 that's where we got information that a CIA agent had claimed to see Hitler in South America in the 50s meaning that Hitler survived World War II for information about the CIA hiring women to sleep with diplomats of other countries in order to gain their favor and feed them information So many weird shadow tactics have been revealed because of the JFK files as a whole But again we're just talking about the things that have come out over the last couple weeks I had to put a lid on this video somewhere If I have to look at one more memo I'm going to scream So some of the most interesting information that's come out over the past couple weeks is everything related to Cuba See the committees wanted information about what the CIA was doing And in the early 1960s the CIA's main concern was Cuba From the Bay of Pigs invasion to the Cuban Missile Crisis the CIA was trying to find a way to get Castro out of power and to [ __ ] the economy of Cuba so that they were no longer a threat We know from declassified documents like Operation Mongoose that the CIA was trying to kill Castro and even attempted on a couple occasions So while we already know that they did hate Cuba now we know a lot of the ways how they hated Cuba In this CIA document which by the way the way you can tell uh who's actually making the document you're reading is by the prefix on the record number So if it starts with a 104 it's CIA If it starts with a 144 that's the NSA If it starts with a 198 that's the Army etc Because sometimes the agencies will be speaking to each other or it'll be a clandestine operation So everyone's kind of talking at once But to know who actually maintained the record which matters uh just look at the prefix for the record But anyway as a lighter note before we get into the depressing stuff this CIA informant while describing things that happened in Cuma in point 10 says L1 talked about assassination of President John F Kennedy L1 being the informant According to L1 in 1969 L1 personally saw Fidel Castro receive a group of US radicals Castro talked to them for 2 hours about why just one assassin could not possibly have killed Kennedy Castro ordered a reenactment of the crime using his best marksmen and they could not duplicate what Lee Harvey Oswald supposedly did by himself L1 said that three groups were involved in killing the president One group of Cubans one group of mafiosos and a third group of mercenaries The third group included a man with a Greek name For one Castro saying that one of the groups was a group of Cubans doesn't explicitly mean that Castro was involved with the assassination because there were a bunch of groups of Cubans he had no control over or even directly opposed him But that being said it is hilarious to me that Castro in 1969 6 years after the assassination is down in Cuba like "Yeah there's no way he did that Absolutely not." And then he gets his best marksman together to recreate the shooting to say that it's impossible This man is he is literally me Now we get into the more depressing stuff you probably expected like lying to the American press because it had been suspected by many around this time that several nonprofits or otherwise legitimate organizations were either just CIA fronts or were allowing the CIA to operate through them And of course the CIA denied that but as we see from internal memos like this one they were lying In this memo from the assistant deputy director for plans to the deputy director for plans in point 2 the assistant deputy says "Early in April of 1968 the office of the general counsel made available to central cover staff a copy of a letter and an attached list of organizations sent to the Internal Revenue Service by Mr John Frappier of Ramparts magazine The letter dated April 5th 1968 had been furnished OGC through IRS liaison channels The letter appended a list of 145 taxexempt organizations and indicated that all were suspected of having been funded by or having cooperated with the CIA So in other words this journalist put together a list of 145 taxexempt organizations that he thinks are actually just cooperating with the CIA and he published it in Rampart's magazine But he also sent the list to the IRS which does he think that the IRS doesn't talk to the CIA I don't know because sure enough that's what happened A liaison at the IRS sent it to the office of general counsel who then sent it to the Central Intelligence Agency It seems that the journalist wanted more information from the IRS so that he could confirm his suspicions on these groups being CIA operated So what does the CIA say internally in this secret document in point four they say a review of available CIA data on the listed organizations has shown that 89 of them were at one time or another somehow associated with the CIA It goes on to say only two of these are of current operational interest These two activities and 45 organizations formerly of interest to CIA were mentioned in the American press during MH DAL Again a lot of this stuff is internal code words that we don't have context for So just pretend like you know what MH DAL means You can also see and it's like this for a lot of the document how MH DAL is written in brackets Uh that means at one point it was redacted It was cut through Uh so earlier versions of this document probably released uh but they just had the redaction 42 other listed organizations which were in fact associated with CIA were not exposed during MHL We have found no evidence that 55 organizations on the list were ever directly or indirectly associated with CIA So hey 55 of them knock it off Oh and then in parenthesis he says because two of the names on the list are successive names for the same organization the actual total number of organizations listed is 144 rather than 145 though But then they go on to even defeat that point because in point 8 they say we cannot say with complete assurance that all 55 of the apparently innocent organizations on the Ramparts list in fact never had any agency ties It's like look he may have been right about 89 of them but 55 we have nothing to do with probably I think thankfully the document doesn't suggest that they kill the journalist or whatever at least not in this document Uh just ends and says the headquarters uh that were responsible are now made aware No further action is required But again we have early whistleblowers for government involvement in non-government agencies being proven correct In our next memo within the CIA we're given information about something known as truth tapes In 1965 it seems that the CIA was producing these recordings that were supposed to be from independent parties but were again the CIA And they would distribute these recordings to be played at radio stations in Latin America and North America as a form of propaganda And in this memo we hear an update about an office that's conducting this in New Orleans It says "The current program of INCA which is the Information Council of the Americas is primarily concerned with the dissemination of taped recordings of anti-communist material called truth tapes to certain radio broadcasting stations in Latin America and North America for use as a weapon against communist penetration in the Americas." And the rest of the document goes on to give status updates regarding the organization But this is more confirmation of the CIA pretending to be voices of the people I should also mention that a lot of this isn't any new news for a ton of people especially people who have kept up with government documents in the past several decades There's been several documents and reports that have come out related to truth tapes It's not like this is any huge new news But what is huge is that this is for one coming directly from the National Archives and there are now zero redactions to this stuff So things like names dates and addresses are on full display And again while a lot of this has come out in previous releases of the JFK files new information is being added So again we're covering everything that's new this week All right here's where we get into the fun stuff So this dispatch regards the special activities report on JM Wave's relationship with an Carbon 1 JM Wave was a CIA post that was just south of the University of Miami in southern Florida JM Wave comes up a ton of these documents because it was one of the closest CIA locations to Cuba So it plays a major role in things like the Bay of Pigs invasion and the Cuban Missile Crisis And Amcarbon 1 is a code name for a journalist at the Miami Herald who was working with the CIA What does the CIA say about him well in the introduction to this paper they say the recommendation was made that JM Wave be given approval to contact the major South Florida news media in an attempt to work out a relationship with these news media which would ensure that they did not turn the publicity spotlight on those Cubark activities in South Florida which might come to their attention Cubark is an internal reference to the CIA itself So the CIA was communicating and making relationships with journalists so that the journalist would not talk about what the CIA was doing Thus when a relationship was established with Amcarbon 2 it was carefully cultivated in order that JM Wave might be able to use this contact at the identity 3 Identity 3 means a newspaper publishing or like news outlet as a means of achieving the objective of having a relationship with the identity 3 which would simultaneously ensure the security of JM Waves operations and give JM Wave an outlet into the press which could be used for surfacing certain select propaganda items So not only to keep the news from talking about them but to get the news to talk about what we want them to talk about If anyone ever calls me a conspiracy theorist again I'm I'm going to punch him In point two it says in this review Amcarbon 2 pointed out that it was the policy of the Identity 3 again a news outlet that it would take no action which would purposefully embarrass QARC or its South Florida operations So that is a supposedly uh freely spoken American press outlet saying that they would never do anything to hurt the CIA As a result if any embarrassing items relative to Cubark's operations in South Florida did come to the attention of the Identity 3 this material would be brought to Rootman's immediate attention Rootman is a code for the CIA agent who's operating with them directly The point was also made that Amcarbon 1 should not press for the obtaining of classified information but he should be alert to steering tips which Reutman might furnish him on fast breaking news stories Amcarbon 1 indicated that he understood the frame of reference which had been outlined by Amcarbon 2 These are two journalists at the same place This frame of reference has prevailed through JM Wave's relationship with Acarbon 1 during the period of December of 1962 to March of 1964 So they can't ask for any classified information but they need to tell the CIA when something important happens It's so weird reading this stuff and kind of peeking behind the veil because they just say everything outright Like in point five it says operational support On occasion Amcarbon 1 is used to carry out certain operational support tasks In such instances AMC carbon 1 makes his inquiries or carries out the required action within the context of his normal journalistic activities The use of Amcarbon 1 for operational support tasks enables JM Wave to harness the investigative facilities of the Identity 3 Several examples of how Amcarbon 1 has been used in operational support tasks are outlined below And it goes on to list a ton of useful information that has been passed on to the CIA through this asset And some of this you may be thinking is fine And there are some instances like there's a case where Amarbon 1 told the CIA that there were reports of Cubans hiding missiles in caves near US soil So some stuff like that it's like I get it I understand why the press would pass that along But in other cases it's just to cover their own skin Like here it says that in October of 1963 Amc Carbon 1 informed JM Wave about the flood of telephone calls which were being received at the Identity 3 relative to so-called Cubark vessels which were located in South Florida waters And a couple things to note For one the reason that you probably don't want to be super chummy with these guys is cuz as we're going to talk about in a bit uh they were not always the altruist They weren't doing a lot of this stuff to just look good in the press and help people uh especially when it comes to Cuba there were some wild things happening And two and I really mean it because all the names are declassified now Do not harass I think all these people are dead but do not harass the memory or anyone associated with these people While yes a lot of this sounds bad Uh and I disagree with it You have to understand that the CIA would not approach these people in a friendly manner While I'm sure there were some cases of willing cooperation when an organization like that comes up to you and says you're going to help them out you kind of have to help them out At least if you want to maintain any public face or have your company maintain a public face Point seven Amcarbon 1 has been used successfully during the period covered by this report as a propaganda outlet through which items of interest to QAR the CIA could be surfaced in the free world press And then they list a bunch of cases of that happening And what's so crazy about this since everything is uh declassified now uh at the end of the report they just have a picture of the news article that just tells you it's the Miami Herald Um and it gives like the author's name and everything Like it's so wild There's some interesting field reports Like here an agent in Cuba says that a man named Joseé Xavier Cortez is passing himself off as a priest when he's actually not one and says some things like "In Cuba the Knights of Columbus are well entrenched." Again another rabbit hole for another day There's a bunch of documents that just kind of expand on the level of espionage that the CIA has like here where it says that there's going to be a meeting of communist sympathizers in Paris Uh and the CIA already has people there I haven't seen it in the reports I've read but I've heard people talking about the JFK files and they mention a file somewhere uh that says at some meeting in France or maybe it was within the French embassy that there were more people there who were either CIA agents or CIA uh liaison who were like paid off by the CIA than people that weren't So in a French political meeting more people in the room are with the Central Intelligence Agency than otherwise Again I don't I think that came from one of the earlier dumps of information in the JFK files but regardless is insane There's also some documents like this one that show you the National Archives history of this stuff where it goes from being accepted to some parts being uh redacted to some parts being unredacted and eventually to the release we have now Now there are some internal memos that give an idea of what the CIA was thinking during a lot of these historic events why they were so paranoid This intelligence report comes from JM Wave to the director of the CIA That is information they gathered from an agent stationed in Cuba The agent says that on October 11th 1963 again in Cuba six large trailer trucks entered Torrance And on October 9th 10 more of these large trailer trucks entered the base An unidentified driver of a vehicle traveling behind one of the trucks reportedly observed tube-like objects which protruded at least one meter beyond the truck bed of one of the trailers when by chance the wind blew to one side of the tarpool covering the trailer's cargo And considering that this base in Cuba was suspected of having surfaceto-air missiles the CIA thought that Cuba was putting together a larger missile array supposedly to use against the United States So of course the solution to that as you could imagine is to um threaten the Miami Herald Speaking of weird things that the CIA did involving Cuba this one is wild Okay so for context in May of 1959 the New China news agency opened an office in Havana in the Elmedico building which is occupied partly by business concerns and partly used for residential apartments So China puts a news agency in Havana inside of a building that has some apartment rooms in it Well the CIA can't let that happen So it says shortly thereafter the Havana station talking about the CIA station in Havana obtained the concurrence of Ambassador Bonsel and Miss Carolyn O Stacy an embassy employee to mount an audio operation against the new China news agency through the wall of the adjacent apartment in which Miss Stacy lived So in November of 59 it says they installed a microphone and tape recorder inside of Miss Stacy's apartment to listen to the news agency next door But by 1960 the Chinese News Agency had expanded to more parts of the apartment building Uh and I guess the CIA's microphones couldn't hear that far So a case officer named Brian Mills goes down and he rents a room that is not next to the Chinese operation It's above it and I guess further across the room So after he rents that room he puts a team in that room to listen down on what the news agency is doing And it says that a group of technicians go down and installed a probe microphone and tape recorder in the apartment obtained by Mills over the NCAA office About this time the equipment was removed from Miss Stacy's apartment with the exception of the plastic probe which was left in the wall and plastered over So they have enough stuff on top of the news agency They don't need Miss Stacy's room next to the agency anymore As an additional security precaution to provide a safe haven and after consultation with the acting chief of station a key to an apartment in the same building leased by Mrs Marjgerie Linux an embassy secretary was obtained Mrs Lennin was told that access to her apartment was needed for photographic surveillance purposes So they find someone else who is staying in the building and get her to give them a key for photographic purposes I guess assuming that they need to take photos of something across the street or whatever not knowing that it's actually so they can spy on other people in the same building So they're lying to even the people who are giving them a safe haven But then things get complicated cuz it says that the owners of the building were canceling subleasasers contracts and recalling leases So in other words they'd probably have to vacate the space soon So they decide well if we can't be in the room we'll just install transmitters in the room and then we'll just set up a listening post nearby and someone else will be living in that space but we'll still be spying out of it So they send another three-man team to Havana to install all this stuff But then on September 14th at midnight someone who I'm not kidding their name is Christ was one of the technicians working on the apartment says failed to keep a scheduled appointment with Neat At 1:00 a.m on the 15th of September the apartment of Mrs Linux was entered into and searched by Cuban authorities and she was taken into custody So the first girl who who they were using as a listening post originally she gets arrested because uh I guess they get privy to what's going on here the Cuban authorities But then it says at 3:40 the next day September 15th Neat the stay behind agent and his wife were picked up by the Cuban authorities and detained So everyone who was installing these microphones got arrested Christ failed to have an appointment with Neat and therefore Linux was arrested Completely unreadable by modern standards And at the time of writing this uh the agents are still under arrest So I think neat's actually a typo I think it's nest but I'm going to keep saying neat And point A it says according to articles in the Cuban papers the three technicians were arrested while in the apartment over the NCAA office and completing the installations of the equipment The press article adds that the keys to Mrs Linux's apartment was found on one of the technicians who identified the apartment to which it belonged All Cuban press releases have referred to the men by alias and have not identified them as government or agency employees So thank God they can be in jail That's fine but as long as they don't know we hired them It is unclear at present what story has been agreed upon by the technicians and station personnel to be used in the event that they were caught While being interrogated with Neat Christ indicated that Neat was his boss and Neat consistently denied any knowledge as to why he was being held The sub lease for the apartment in which the men were caught is in the name of the staybehind agent with the original lease being in the name of Mills the FE division's case officer So everything's like five degrees of separation removed so it doesn't tie back to the agency So a lot of the rest of the document talks about what's to be done with these agents uh because they're effectively being charged with espionage against China and the CIA is talking internally about they don't really know if they can do anything for them without you know revealing that the CIA was involved and they can't let that happen because then that's like you know an act of war There's a funny note at the end where it says "In so far as the families are concerned one of the technicians is a bachelor presently on home leave between two tours in Japan His father a cook in a diner in the Boston area has been contacted by the office of security and he will get in touch with security if he receives any inquiries on the matter So it's like okay we've notified the one's dad The other one it says in point 13 the wives of the other two technicians have been told what has happened and are being contacted at least once daily by tsd staffers and their wives who have been briefed on the situation A conference with the two wives was held on September 19th to go over the whole situation and determine if there was any personal problems on which the agency could be of help For the time being the wives are telling their neighbors that their husbands are on a trip The story will be adjusted depending on what course of action the Cuban government takes whether the aliases remain unbroken and whether recognizable photographs of the individuals are released to the press The two wives so far have been taking the bad news exceedingly well Hey so we hired your husband to go set up a listening post at the Chinese embassy in Cuba and uh they both got arrested and we can't really do anything about it cuz like oh no the CIA am I right um so if you could tell all of your neighbors that they're on vacation or cheating on you or something I don't know Uh and we'll keep doing that lie unless the Cuban government posts their face and then we'll say they're like traitors or something Is that okay and the wives are like Yeah This This is so insane I swear Like if so much of the stuff in here is like if you wrote it into a movie it would be too unbelievable There is an attached reply that talks about the task of getting these guys out of custody But sadly the file is so corrupted it's hard to read in mission I believe it says the 145th or 145th operational evacuation and to whatever this tree whatever group provides black air transportation something to Kotus or Konis the continental United States to the designated area So it sounds like they were trying to do a black air operation which essentially means an offthe-books air operation to get these guys out of Cuba So it looks like from the skewed text that a flight out of Mexico was being used And in the rest of the text it says that they're putting together a C-45 to transport these guys out of Cuba and then get them back to the United States in 15 hours So surprisingly they didn't just leave them there for whatever that's worth I don't know how they got them out of custody and onto a runway to get into a C-54 to get to Mexico but whatever Documents like this kind of give you an idea into what the CIA was doing in the 50s and60s And it's also just a really wild story that would be hard to believe had it not come directly from the CIA's own office It goes from using people's rooms to spy on people in the building and then having these secret flights to get people out of the country It's really wild stuff It'd be cool if they were you know cool Some documents like this one just indicate that the CIA had plants near people like Shay Guaa as you could probably imagine Similar to the thing mentioned earlier about Rampart doing a piece on companies that are actually CIA fronts or have CIA ties This document talks about a business called Acearine Survey Incorporated that is actually a JM Wave cover facility In the description for this business it says "This is a Florida corporation established by and under the control of JM Wave and certified to do business in Florida Ace Marine Survey Incorporated was formerly known as Ace Cgraphy Company a corporation which had been certified to do business in Florida on the 11th of June 1962 This corporation was amended on November the 4th of ' 66 to its new name Ace Marine Survey Ace Marine survey is engaged primarily in marine research including the study of marine life and testing marine equipment However its general provisions permit to perform almost any corporate function Use JM wave use of the corporation is to provide cover for a maritime vessel the MV Sonora Corporation provides status cover and payrolling of the agents assigned to the MV Sonora and the safe area or birthing site from which the vessel operates in the performance of its ostensible business It goes on to say that the corporation was providing status cover and payrolling for 10 Cubans as of January 31st 1967 So we have records of a business that publicly looks like a center for marine studies but in reality is just so the CIA can have boats near Cuban waters Uh and the 10 people that work there if anyone was to investigate it looks like they are actually payrolled by the company and everything is straightforward when in reality everything is CIA There's letters like this about the CIA internally checking up on people who have some degree of influence but seem to have communist sympathies Like here's a letter internally about someone named Courtwood the son of an attorney named Fosterwood who it says appears to be actively engaged in the organization of a local chapter of the Fair Play for Cuba committee So again if someone was suspected of having communist ties the CIA was doing checkups on them Here is a document where a CIA agent or operative was tailing someone and the person they were tailing threw a receipt in a trash can So the agent dug out the receipt and then made record of it So here's an interesting file that doesn't really have to do with the CIA or like things around the assassination Uh but it's just a folder about someone named Abram Shayes But then there's actually a note regarding the House Select Committee of Assassinations which was the committee that was put together to review the assassinations of JFK and MLK And they have a note attached that says "A review of the House Select Committee on Assassination volumes did not surface an Abram Shea but an Abraham Shaes a legal adviser to the State Department who maintained that at the time Oswald received his visa to enter Russia from the Soviet embassy in Helsinki Normally one week would elapse between the time of a tourist application and the issuance of a visa It would appear that Abram and Abraham are not identical to each other." Betty Lichenfield of the House Select Committee reviewed the file on August 17th 1978 And that this guy was a Harvard Law School professor who attended a pugwash conference in Munich in 1977 So to show how thorough the House Select Committee was this guy isn't even the same guy who they're looking for They're looking for a guy who made one statement that Oswalt should have taken longer to get his visa And then there's this other guy who has a similar name who they still put the whole report on and turn it over and that it's probably not relevant but just in case Again it's for reasons like this that there are so many files There's a letter here from an anti-Castro Cuban gerilla fighter who was being held in a Cuban prison and he wrote a letter uh requesting more money for guerilla forces indicating you know that um the CIA was funding guerilla forces in Cuba even though they historically denied that kind of thing a lot And oh would you look at this a document that details a shipment of 20 pistols six submachine guns and one bazooka uh which is cargo that was dropped off to Cuban gerilla fighters And then a note at the end that says "Also report two successful drops Uh each drop consisted of 63 submachine guns." So would you look at that money and guns going to uh Cuban fighters even though publicly they were very against that sort of thing There's one document in here somewhere I think I um lost it but and I'm not going through the 80,000 pages to find it again but it was over maintenance and attaching a rear sight to an FAL rifle Uh which an FAL rifle is a rifle that was used by a lot of like European forces and like South American countries around this time but the United States never adopted So why would the United States have things uh related to the operation of the rifle probably so they could send weaponry like that to places like Cuba and it not be directly associated as a United States shipment or you know something like that What do I know here we get an interesting memo from within the CIA uh relating to someone named John Garrett Underhill and specifically an article from Ramparts concerning him Ramparts uh was really testing the CIA's patience it would seem around this time So the CIA memo quotes the Rampart article by saying "The day after the assassination Gary Underh Hill left Washington in a hurry Late in the evening he showed up at the home of friends in New Jersey He was very agitated A small click within the CIA was responsible for the assassination," he confided and he was afraid for his life and probably would have to leave the country Less than 6 months later Underh Hill was found shot to death in his Washington apartment The corner ruled it suicide a researcher and writer on military affairs He was on a first-name basis with many of the top brass in the Pentagon He was also on intimate terms with a number of high-ranking CIA officials He was one of the AY's UNP people who performed special assignments At one time he had been a friend of Samuel Cummings of Interarmco the arms broker that numbers among its customers the CIA and ironically client sporting goods of Chicago from which the mail order Carcano allegedly was purchased by Oswald So all that to say that Rampart ran an article saying that John Underill's death a month after the Kennedy assassination was suspicious Now a bunch of people have highlighted this the fact that these lines appear in a CIA document to say "Oh well there's the CIA admitting that they unalived this guy or whatever." When no that is just the CIA quoting the article that said the CIA did it It goes on to say "The verdict of suicide in Under Hill's death is by no means convincing His body was found by a writing collaborator Asher Byron of the New Republic He had been shot behind the left ear and an automatic pistol was under his left side Odd says Barnes because Under Hill was right-handed Brian thinks the pistol was fitted with a silencer and occupants of the apartment building could not recall hearing a shot Under Hill obviously have been dead several days so no the CIA is not weirdly wording this to talk about themselves in the third person and imply they might have had something to do with it Again they're just quoting the article So then that quote within this memo is replied by a check of what the CIA knows about John Underh Hill They talk about his military career some before saying a CIA memo of February and October 1949 show that there was interest by the New York office of the OO contacts division in using subject as a contact for foreign intelligence Name checks were conducted with various military members of the intelligence community but these yielded insufficient information and OO was advised a contact should be developed with caution on a limited basis and that subject was not to receive information classified higher than confidential So the original Rampart article is saying that Under Hill had very close uh strong connections to the CIA But the CIA's memo here is saying that in 1949 we checked him out for it but evaluated that we couldn't give him super secret stuff and could only use him in a limited capacity And then talking about Cummings the arm dealer the CIA's like "Yeah we bought stuff from him and they're ours and when we sell them we'll keep the money." It's like that part's true And at the end it says "It is noted that Underh Hill Cummings and Inter Armco have not appeared to date in any press or classified reports of the Garrison investigation in New Orleans with the tenuous exception of the Ramparts article cited at the outset of this memo." So this is basically a memo of the CIA being like "Hey this newspaper says that we killed this guy Did we kill this guy do you guys I can't find anything Did we kill this guy?" Uh but no internally they're like "Rampards is legend We did this this is all the info we have on him and he hasn't appeared anywhere else Now again I mention all this because that excerpt at the beginning gets passed around a lot People saying "Look oh here's the CIA saying they killed this guy." It's not what it's saying They're reviewing an article that said that uh they killed someone Now I'm not bringing this up to say that the CIA didn't kill the Under Hill They very well might have Uh but if they did they didn't write it down on a piece of paper to be passed around and then released in 2025 Look I understand these executive orders are meant that all the information is now made public Uh and that's really cool and all and I appreciate this stuff but if there was actually a piece of paper that said we shot this journalist former agent whatever in the head uh that would never see the light of day I doubt anyone would even write that down to begin with So I'm not saying they didn't do it I'm just saying this memo isn't saying that they did it Also speaking of things that people are saying is in here that aren't really uh I should probably mention the whole Israel thing Now there are some excerpts from the files that have been released that mention Israel Uh one of them is right here So again the JFK files are compilation of any internal document that has anything to do with Kennedy And this comes from an investigation that was happening in 1998 In 1998 the CIA was investigating this guy and they had bugged his house in Cairo Egypt And in this transcript we have a conversation between what I believe is a covert operative or effectively an undercover agent who is talking to the guy they're spying on It says that the agent apologized for not phoning Subject replied that the agent could call at his home anytime unannounced He understood the agent's aversion to phones and added that Ethiopians tap diplomats office and home phones Uh which is funny because he is talking to an undercover CIA agent Yeah those Ethiopians really like to spy on people During conversation with agent subject turned on tape player for sound masking and explained his home had not yet been tested for bugs And then I this is so funny In parenthesis the CIA typed a simple test is turn off all the appliances and check electric meter There's also a more sophisticated test Perhaps it's the subject who was saying that but the fact it's in parenthesis I choose to believe that the CIA in their own memo is like if you wanted to find our bugs you could just turn the lights off Subject phoned spouse in Cairo and had agent speak with her Subject gave agent two small gifts Subject's brother-in-law is no good He asked his father-in-law for money Saudi attach weighty A Saudi may be the Saudi intel officer in Addis but subject is not yet sure Israel is no good Israel was behind the JFK assassination Subject cheated on his wife only three times And then he describes his affair and says the owner of Concord nightclub smuggles Mercury has good connections among Israelis and Ethiopian government So this is a conversation with a guy that the CIA spying on The only reason it's included in these documents is because he mentions the JFK assassination And this guy in the midst of talking about how he doesn't like his brother-in-law and how he's only cheated on his wife three times he says that he thinks Israel killed Kennedy And again this entire thing is just an internal document talking about spying on him Um but people have been taking this screenshot and posting it around to say "Oh look Israel killed Kennedy just because this guy in Egypt says they did." There's actually another document about this dude In another conversation with an undercover agent it says "Agent raised the terrorist killing of US diplomatic personnel in Karach on the 8th of March to gauge Lashen's response." Lashen being the guy that they're talking to or at least I assume this is the same guy cuz it's in the same string of documents and seems to be in the same location at the same point in time Everyone gets new names in each document you look at so who knows but anyway the undercover agent raised this political point to see how Lashen would respond and says "After launching into a homaly about how the prophet had called for mercy and decency by warriors in the treatment of civilians Lashen went on to spin a series of typically paranoid Arab conspiracy theories He suggested that the assassination of JFK and Anoir were somehow the work of the Israelis who always sought to disrupt good relations between the US and Egypt He suggested that the Israelis liked to play the fundamentalist card whenever pressures mounted on them to make concessions And he argued that the Israeli MSAD had been behind terrorist attacks in Egypt as far back as the 1950s So again both of those excerpts if you see them out of context are just this guy in Egypt speaking to an undercover agent about his opinions Also I'm just assuming the agents undercover because this guy's talking about wiretaps and stuff like that He could have known he was speaking to the CIA I don't know Again all of this stuff is out of context because it's just thrown in if it relates to the JFK assassination So I don't have the full story around who this dude was or anything like that but I wouldn't exactly call him a credible source for information to say that Israel killed Kennedy Another source that gets passed around about Israel's involvement comes from James Engelton James Engleton was a CIA agent who testified at a lot of the assassination hearings and things like that And internally they say he has numerous foreign sources and channels for developing information The primary source is the Israeli Intelligence Service He goes on after this to say that Engleton has independent sources in the intelligence services of France Italy Greece and Great Britain And on occasion he utilizes sources in the Vatican So Angleton has people everywhere but he primarily operates in Israel I believe in other documents or like in other information that's come out not in the JFK files Angleton oversaw Russian influence within Israel So he was undercover within Israel to see like if the Soviets move people or weapons in and out So after Angleton provides a lot of his information again this is pre-assination 1954 Angleton is notified that a lot of the information he's gathering is going to be shared with other government departments and Angleton requests that they withhold all of his information concerning Israel because in 1954 Angleton was still an undercover agent within Israel and wanted that information kept very close to the chest The memo says he further indicated that he desired the above method of designation in connection with correspondence dealing with Israeli intelligence matters With regard to bureau reports concerning Israeli matters Engleton advised that such material is being retained under his personal supervision and control It goes on to say he explained that he is involved in several sensitive projects such as Israeli intelligence and if his identity were known to the other agencies the security of CIA operations could be prejudiced So then later in 1965 when information regarding Angleton is being gathered it says this information for the most part emanated from a liazison arrangement with CIA maintained with the Israeli intelligence service and from other sources under the control of Angleton But a bunch of people are pulling this that says uh request for Israel information beyond to say that Israel had something to do with the assassination Uh which for one it'd be crazy if they wrote that down if like they knew that Israel killed Kennedy and they wrote down like Israel killed Kennedy but mark out the Israel word It's just Engleton saying he doesn't want his undercover operations made known to all government agencies The only thing relating to Israel that actually has any meat to it uh is this one So this memo is regarding a comment that was made to an ATF agent the day before the Kennedy assassination After the Kennedy assassination an ATF agent who was investigating arms deals down in Cuba in like southern Florida says that a man named Echavaria Echavaria allegedly made a comment the day before the assassination of President John F Kennedy that quote "We now have plenty of money Our new backers are Jews as soon as we or they take care of Kennedy." dot dot dot Now this is one arms dealer in Cuba who said this off-handedly I don't know how a Cuban arms dealer would know if Israel was planning to kill the president But this was a comment that the CIA logged as suspicious and we don't know if they looked into it or if the document is out there somewhere to elaborate I couldn't find it The main reason it was so hard to find this document is because this isn't from the JFK files This is a file that was released uh years ago with the initial investigations into the assassinations Uh so this is old news been out a really long time but this is the one thing related to Israel that actually has some weight beyond what someone else said about their opinion regarding Israel I understand a lot of people have issues with the Israeli government especially right now Um but regardless of how you feel about him you have to understand when Kennedy was shot the country had only existed for 15 years uh which would be a crazy short amount of time to go from starting existing to shooting the president of the United States Now there are a couple of nations that were really afraid of getting mentioned in these reports Uh and they're not Israel So in 1996 right before 97 when they signed and said all the informations regarding John F Kennedy are to go public it seems that internally information about this was shared with other governments just to let them know that this stuff is going to be publicized And as soon as this is announced uh we have a memo here from Tokyo where it says "Please incorporate the following into the talking points to be used in the presentation to the JFK assassination records review board Ambassador Mandell the embassy and the station strongly oppose release to the public of any reference to the existence of a CIA station in Japan Such action could have adverse consequences for US Japan relations at a time when a number of difficult security and economic issues remain unresolved It also would risk reigniting earlier controversies over alleged CIA wiretapping of the man who is today the prime minister and over past CIA funding for the Liberal Democratic Party Public confirmation would without a doubt disrupt cooperation with Japanese liaison services on important counterterrorist and counter intelligence cases by making the station the object of greater public and possibly official scrutiny It would lower the confidence of existing and new sources in our ability to protect their identity and security It says after that the Japanese government does not publicly admit that it collects intelligence and as a corollary does not admit to having liaison relationships with US intelligence agencies Tokyo avoids public acknowledgement because it knows that intelligence collection is anthemma to the left wing of the Japanese political spectrum And any admission would give the left new opportunities to attack the Liberal Democratic Party which was the ruling party from 55 to 93 and is today the party of the prime minister and the leading party within the ruling coalition And it goes on to say that Japan and the CIA agents in Japan are like "Hey don't bring up the Japan thing." Apparently at the time uh I guess Japanese citizens just didn't know that they could be spied on by the government as they were being spied on by the Japanese and United States government Similarly there are a ton of documents of the Australian Central Intelligence Agency pleading for the United States to not release information about their records or spying on people I don't know what the Australian CIA was hiding but there's like half a dozen in here that are basically them going "Please please please please please." Which is funny because now not only is whatever records they were afraid of getting out published but their letter asking them to not publish it is also published Some interesting documents like this one gets passed around that defectors from Castro's regime had been executed Documents like this are entire dossas on informants who have fled or have quit contacting the CIA who uh the CIA expects to be defective And it's insane how much information they have on people They have details about their money issues about marital issues about previous employment about potential employment You have documents like this from 1958 that indicates the CIA knew so much about what Shake was doing They knew explicitly where him and his guerilla fighters were and what part of the country they were moving through at any given time Again eyes and ears everywhere Similar to the Marine Ace survey from earlier here is a report about an agent who has a job at Robert's Electronic and Engineering Service uh which is actually just a front for him to get a payroll and have a 1099 tax form to appear legitimate Uh whereas he is actually a CIA operative Also I included this one just to show you guys what I have to put up with So this is just like an article regarding like the OSS during World War II So like preCIA CIA stuff right um but when they go to photo scan it uh this is what the text looks like What do you want me to do with this it's an entire It could have the directions to the Ark of the Covenant in here and we would never know Like this is absurd because again all these records are just photo scans of things that were written on a typewriter like back in the 40s and 50s Um so it's it's rough It's pretty rough Oh I guess since I summoned it uh there's been this CIA report floating around lately that the CIA found the Ark of the Covenant because there's a description of like the Ark of the Covenant someone seen it or whatever Um that's Operation Sunstreak when the CIA was like giving people a ton of drugs and hallucinogenics uh to see if it unlocked mind potential or whatever like MK Ultra stuff And during Sun Streak they gave someone a bunch of psychedelics and that person said they saw the Ark of the Covenant So I don't think that proves it or anything It would be don't get me wrong I would love for the CIA to find the Ark of the Covenant Uh but that hasn't happened yet sadly Or no actually I take that back They probably destroy it or something or they would like trap homeless people in a box with it to see if they melted or they'd find some way to make it bad There's a couple of wild documents here about John Whitten So right after Kennedy's assassination John Whitten was the guy who was set to review like the CIA's records and stuff like that and he was the first one to make the call that Oswald acted alone However a month later he found out that the FBI had information regarding Oswald's connection to Cuban groups which would imply that Oswald might have connections to communist sources which we'll talk about in a bit So Winn said that made his original call completely irrelevant but regardless he was the first guy to say that Oswald acted alone So as the JFK assassination got a lot of scrutiny he got a lot of scrutiny as well So there's this report here from May of 1996 that says on April the 22nd an agent was speaking to John Whitten At this point Whitten had left the United States and was staying in Vienna and actually became like a notable person uh in the music scene like classical music to my understanding So while speaking in this agent regarding the concept of coming back to the United States to testify with a lot of this information now coming to light it says Whitten was extremely worried and upset about the release of his name and on several occasions in the interview was on the verge of tears Although Iden B which is the agent was expecting him to be angry with CIA and the board instead he clearly felt hurt and betrayed his obvious physical problems add to his feeling of being vulnerable Physically he is not well He is paralyzed on his left side and has great difficulty walking On a map he pointed out his apartment and indicated that he believed to be serious threats to his safety should his affiliation with the CIA become known goes on to say Winn also stated that he has been retired for almost as long as he worked for the CIA and that he has a completely different life now in Vienna He and his wife have lived in Vienna approximately 25 years He is a member of various musical and art societies He sings in a prominent Vienna men's choir He has published various articles on music His specialty is Johan Strauss He has received many medals for his work in the arts in Vienna which we saw when we went to his apartment Whitten is also greatly worried about the fact that he committed perjury when applying for Austrian residency by stating he worked for the State Department He believes this could subject him to criminal penalties in Austria He stated on several occasions should his affiliation become known he would have to leave Austria So he's freaking out about being mentioned publicly regarding the CIA stuff And then there is another article concerning him from September of 96 so a few months later that says Noble Horse a CIA agent which is really cool code name I got to admit was most recently contacted by John Whitten on August 26th Whitten obviously very upset informed Noble Horse that his wife of 55 years had deserted him and moved back to the United States that she was suing him for one-third of everything he owned as support and that she was accusing him of theft of property her jewelry He remarked further that his children had turned against him and sided with his wife that his health was continuing to deteriorate When also said that his wife was not planning on suing him for divorce as she would lose all of the medical benefits that she now has by virtue of his retirement status When Noble Horse asked how he could help Winn said that he would like to see Noble Horse either in his office or have Noble Horse drop by for a visit When Noble Horse briefly hesitated Whitten quickly added that he had some information to pass along which quote may or may not be of interest but probably not but that this was the main reason for his call Noble Horse said that he would have to check his schedule and would get back to him in a day or two Goes on to say that eventually Noble Horse goes to meet him And it says that during a highly emotional 2hour and 45minute discussion Whitten recounted all of the details of his domestic problems many of them quite personal and including accusations counter accusations involving his wife and his children reminisced on his past work experience and spoke of his resolve to commit suicide As it turns out he drove himself with great difficulty to the Netherlands in January of this year with the intent of having himself euthanized He changed his mind however after having realized that he had in fact made the trip by himself When he returned home however the problems between he and his spouse began in earnest She apparently did not approve of the euthanasia plan I feel bad for this guy Like I know he I know he was the first one to say Oswald acted alone which caused a lot of problems but they were withholding information from him I'm sure he was acting in good faith So now he seems like this is rough During the discussion in which Whitten broke down in tears several times he also expressed his determination not to move back to the US According to him should he do so his family would have him placed in a nursing home a fate which is absolutely not willing to accept As an alternative his wife has indicated to him that his family may instead be able to arrange for a small apartment for him in which to live but that she would pay only occasional visits and would not live with him This is This poor guy It's so weird because I've seen the name Whitten so many times with JFK files and stuff cuz like he was the first guy to come forward first guy to make the report So it's like in my mind before this he was just like a stoic you know CIA agent but now now I just he's like a sad dog They're even mean to him in the report It says after collecting the information Whitten had and then in parenthesis which station believes will be of little or no useful value This guy this guy lies to an agent to get him to come over so he has someone to talk to and the agency is like "Yeah he didn't have anything This guy it keeps getting worse." Noble Horse explained to Whitten that for security considerations it would be best if he no longer contacted Noble Horse except in the event of an emergency He's like "Please never speak to me again." Noble Horse said that he was sorry he had to do this as he had enjoyed getting to know Whitten but that the consular section was better equipped to deal with these kinds of problems It says that Whitten wants to uh take his wife and children to trial to get them to quote admit to their lies As Noble Horse got up to leave Whitten again in tears thanked Noble Horse for his professionalism and his help and reminded Noble Horse that he had entered into a most honorable profession He asked Noble Horse to pass along a special note of thanks as the outcome of the JFK matter had restored his faith in the American judicial system I assume he means about the files being publicly released Uh Whitten b his farewell by noting it would be the last time that the two would meet and wish Noble Horse a good life That is depressing Yeah a lot of it's just internal memos like this like the CIA talking to themselves and being like we really got to do something about this guy Like it might be a shadow hand government organization that flips smaller world powers Sure Uh but it's still an office that still has all problems associated with an office There's any department that has public relations is going to have these issues So something weird happened Uh after I tweeted that I was going to make a video on this some guy on Twitter DM'd me and said "Hey let me know if you find anything about my great uncle David Phillips in there He supposedly knew Oswald In my head I'm like what's the chances I'm going to run into this dude's uncle right uh and I ran into this dude's uncle a lot There are a ton of documents about David Phillips So to my limited understanding David Phillips was an agent who operated with the CIA for some time He had a lot of involvement with things like the JFK assassination uh and with a lot of things concerning South American governments and CIA involvement And after his career at the CIA he wrote books about his time at the CIA which the CIA were not happy about because as we can see here from a ton of internal memos they were reviewing the things that David Phillips was publishing and getting very upset at some of the ways David Phillips would describe how operations are conducted how the CIA behaves himself which to me tells me that's pretty accurate So like you got a manuscript here where the CIA is just bashing this dude's work just saying it's like bad Although Mr Phillips labored to introduce some humor into his manuscript some of his anecdotes appear to be in bad taste This chapter is replete with a profusion of illustrations of tradecraftraft and operational activities too numerous to set forth It's like a Goodreads review but it's a CIA memo So yeah there's a ton of stuff just talking about this guy's work At one point they did an interview with him because David Phillips claimed to have seen Lee Harvey Oswald in Cuba right before the shooting which obviously would be a lot of importance to the CIA So it was during the House Select Committee I believe they brought him in and had an old interview and you can find the transcript now uh unredacted through the JFK files release Also in other documents uh apparently they were so paranoid over David Phillips not only were they monitoring him but they were monitoring his son Chris for a while Um so yeah they really dislike this guy despite him being an agent I guess So you know no honor among thieves or something like that There's some other interesting documents that come up over stuff that wasn't super well publicized like this document details a group of four American soldiers in Vietnam who defected effectively joining a communist uh rebel force in the region There's some other interesting documents like the FBI wanted information on how regions like Cuba and uh Latin America responded to Martin Luther King's death There's some interesting stuff like this Like during 1996 when the assassination review board uh was uh interviewing people regarding CIA involvement the person conducting the interview asked how many real businesses or contrived facilities in the commercial cover program are connected to the publications industry And the response is a few real businesses are loosely connected with the publications industry and the names of a few contrive facilities could be perceived as being associated which is a really roundabout way of saying like so in publications how many companies work with the CIA and it's like um I mean there's a few and there's a few others that you could say also are then the next question how many companies participated in the commercial cover program in the '60s and how many participate today the response approximately Ely 500 companies participated in the commercial cover program and 1,800 are currently in the program Oh just a little conspiracy theorist That's all I am That's mostly it for the CIA stuff besides things related to the two big final points I want to make in the video The two biggest things that I think came out of the JFK Files release Again most of it is just reports or documentation about in-house stuff I've brought up a bunch of the stuff that I thought was interesting For a lot of the FBI stuff it's mostly just like spying on people in the United States Like it's full reports regarding investigations of people of interest people who may be talking to the Soviets or talking to Cuba There's a lot of conversation about intercepting people's mail about getting all their potential addresses especially people who were coming in from Russia If someone was remotely connected to Russia they were on them And some of these investigations they were running were pretty hardcore Like in this memo it says "This relates to information received from CIA indicating the possibility that the Communist Party of Venezuela may attempt to kidnap the child of a CIA employee Thomas Kie." And it says "At our suggestion through liaison with the CIA fingerprints and photographs have been obtained and were furnished on March the 10th 1967 This material is being made part of this file for possible use in the event of a kidnapping So they're so prepared for potential kidnapping that the CIA is getting fingerprints of these people and passing them on to the FBI so the FBI can start an investigation if this person who's operating within the Communist Party of Venezuela gets their children kidnapped This is also so funny to me So this is a memo uh about the central intelligence agency that the FBI is conducting and they open it by saying to say that the two agencies work in complete harmony is not true Conflicts of past years have had their influences Fortunately we have been successful in establishing very effective working relations with several key figures in the agency who have been very cooperative and who are sincerely interested in getting the job done Without this existing framework our relations with CIA could degenerate into a chaotic state With regard to differences with CIA there were two situations during the past year which had a significant bearing on relations between the two agencies And they go on to detail these instances uh basically two instances of the CIA not telling the FBI when something was going on or the FBI looking for a thing the CIA already had And it's just an entire document talking about their cooperation and how they keep having problems with each other which is so funny to me Again a lot of these FBI reports are on individuals who they're monitoring And here they're talking about a guy who was utilized by the CIA as an informant in the communist dominated Greek maritime organization known as OE But that this informant isn't useful anymore because he's left OENO So he doesn't know anything that the CIA would want to find out about Regardless the FBI has this report on them where they say in September of 1960 Mrs Jane Roman CIA advised that the subject is currently a crew member of the SS Rander which is scheduled to dock at New Orleans within the next 2 weeks It says that the CIA is now trying to get him to be an agent within Cuba so he can pass them information Says in order to arrange for such travel it will be necessary for him to jump ship at New Orleans This will be done with the approval of immigration and naturalization service CIA will then hold conferences with him and subject will thereupon proceed to Havana under a cover being established for him So CIA and FBI have got immigration in on it They've got shipping services in on it that this guy is going to have a cover story where he defected to Cuba so that you know he's not immediately arrested or seized or whatever Then he can pass on the CI information This is a clandestine thing to get him in the country between several different departments They know everything about this guy It says "Prior to leaving for Havana he will endeavor to have contact with his wife Angela Ber who is well known to us and who has a communist background His marriage to Boyer was actually promoted in order to approve his position in OE He has been separated from his wife for a lengthy period although she has indicated that she desires to live with him again CIA hopes that a resumption of relations between the two will help him in establishing worthwhile contact in communist circles in Cuba." So the CIA wanted this marriage to happen because she was communist and that would get him closer to communist groups so that he could then feed information back to the CIA And now they are encouraging him and his wife to be together again so that he can be more effectively believed as an informant within Cuba Oh it's so wild Imagine gosh imagine the CIA having that much influence over your life like that degree of agency in what you do It's terrifying Oh my gosh And there's a ton of documents like this where they take information about people about their lives and talk about how it could be useful for programs they need to have done They have documents like this where they evaluate Soviet defectors and kind of talk about their legitimacy if these people can be trusted There's this one really interesting report from the FBI that is directly from J Edgar Hoover to the director of the CIA where Hoover says "We have received information that a Soviet office in the United States has ordered 10 safes from the Mosler safe company for shipment to the Soviet embassy in Havana Cuba They are to be shipped by export order number E12344 but the exact shipment date is unknown The safes are identified as follows And that talks about the dimensions of the safe what the safe may be used for So the Soviet embassy in Cuba has ordered safes from an American company and the FBI who has ears everywhere has found out about this So the safes are going to be sent but J Edgar Hoover says enclosed for the CIA are a set of dial keys appropriately labeled and a set of keys for the inside compartments of the safes Information concerning the existence of this material should be handled on a need to- know basis It is requested that no further dissemination of this information be made without prior clearance from this bureau So the CIA had copies of the dial information and keys to get into the secret compartments of safes that the Soviets were buying There's some interesting financial documents that have come out Uh like this internal memo regarding a summary of cost for Cuban operations up until December of 1963 says that the CIA spent 106,155,774 on Cuban operations almost 50% of which was spent on paramilitary action that they definitely weren't involved with The total covert action budget psychological and paramilitary warfare was approximately $81 million in this 4-year period That is so cool that they spent over hund00 million uh to fight a guerilla war that they publicly had no involvement with of taxpayer money That's so cool And then also there are a ton of documents that have been released now uh regarding internal feelings around things like Vietnam and ways to dissuade the public from protesting things that are outside of the scope of what I want to cover in this video But as you can imagine it's mostly about um trying to hide any information that dissuades uh government involvement in Vietnam and also keeping tabs on people who were protesting the war in Vietnam Now the two final things I want to go over are documents that have come out regarding CIA involvement in Cuba as well as a potential CIA connection to Lee Harvey Oswald Let's start with the Cuba one So a bunch of information has come out since regarding our involvement with Cuba Things like Operation Mongoose were already known Uh the plot by the CIA to kill Fidel Castro A lot of that involved people like General Landstell Uh if you'll remember Landstell is a guy from my CIA vampire video in the Philippines That same dude he had a huge role in trying to figure out ways that they could assassinate him or dissuade uh public opinion of Castro's regime But there's been some other documents about CIA involvement in Cuba as well like these documents that detail uh Cuba was hiring a group of workers from overseas to try to work in like engineer fields and stuff like that So the CIA tried to implant workers who would feed them information Uh this project fell through but it is evidence of the CIA trying to place people in Cuban workforces There's a massive 48 page document that details the CIA's operations within Cuba And one of the main points in that is their propaganda department A lot of things to be expected like CIA plans to hand out leaflets against Castro within the region A lot of other countries like Venezuela and Mexico were warned to not interact with Cuba or allow flights in and out of the country Several anti-Castro broadcast in the region that were posed as independent but were actually funded by the CIA And again this is a wealth of information about like trying to deny political meetings trying to u ruin the reputation of Castro among other countries And in section seven regarding assassinations it says "In his testimony before the Senate Select Committee to Study Government Operations Intelligence Activities Richard M Bissell formerly CIA's deputy director for plans testified fully and completely to the role that he Shield Edwards and William Harvey played in negotiations with Robert May who mafia figures John Reli and Momo Salvatore Gian Kana on plans for the assassination of Fidel Castro Now again this had come out and been alluded to previously in like investigations involving the assassination but here's full confirmation that the CIA was corroborating with the mafia to try to kill Fidel Castro And again this never came to be but it is proof that the CIA was working with groups like the mafia in order to perform a political assassination There's a 25-page document from the Department of State that clarifies the involvement of not only the CIA but like the FBI and a bunch of other government offices in not just Cuba but a ton of South American countries mostly involving propaganda and informants but all of which are ways for the United States to spread their influence during the Cold War There's this document which I believe was previously released just with redactions regarding one of the agents who was supposed to assassinate Castro during Operation Mongoose but again it never came to be It details that they had entire teams ready to go on a couple of occasions but both times the hit got called off The CIA received some reports that the Cuban infrastructure was not doing well From their economy to their production they were in a tight spot So there's a lot of efforts by the CIA to exploit that This is from again General Landelle who says "Efforts of the CIA continue to apply pressure upon the Cuban regime by focusing upon abuses of power and failure of key programs such as medical and food use of refugees in interviews especially underlined there There's plans to do things like create counterfeit currency to increase Cuban economic problems And at the end Landdale writes I note here the CIA does not feel it has the operational means to undertake task number 22 black market activities at this time Further that task number 11 time magazine dissemination would require operational facilities not now available I accept indefinite deferral of task 22 and scrubbing task number 11 on this basis So they're like "Look we can't go into black markets right now It'd be too much effort and we don't yet have the people at Time magazine to spread the information we want about Cuba's economy not doing well." Uh but perhaps we could put counterfeit currency or exploit the fact that they have bad food and medical right now But that's not all they were willing to do There are documents that show they were not just willing to exploit the economic issues Cuba was having but they were going to accelerate them In this released minutes report of conversations around Operation Mongoose it is said the group then turned to a discussion of point 32 agricultural sabotage General Carter emphasized the extreme sensitivity of any such operation and the disastrous results that would flow from something going wrong particularly if there was obvious attribution to the US He went on to say however that it would be possible to accomplish this purpose by methods more subtle than those indicated in the paper He mentioned specifically the possibility of producing crop failures by the introduction of biological agents which would appear to be of natural origin Mr Bundy said that he had no worries about any such sabotage which would clearly be made to appear as the result of local Cuban disaection or of a natural disaster but that we must avoid external activities such as release of chemicals etc unless they could be completely covered up potentially starving the Cuban populace in order to increase dissatisfaction with the government Now as far as I know this never happened uh because Operation Mongoose didn't really pan out Obviously they never killed Castro but the fact that they were discussing introducing a biological agent to destroy crops and starve people is horrific And the only reason they say it's a problem isn't any ethical quandry of course It's because it can be traced back to them But it gets worse because right after that says "A suggestion was made that small explosives or incidiaries which could be distributed to Cubans should be infiltrated." General Carter explained that the problem is not one of such supplies since they can be easily improvised rather that the people have shown no inclinence to use such materials despite many exiles claims to the contrary So they want to sponsor explosives and firebombing and stuff like that but it may be a problem because right now the people don't want to do that Taxpayer sponsored terrorism Uh I know this kind of thing like it it gets talked about all the time especially in the Middle East Everyone's like "Yeah duh." you know they do this kind of thing all the time but just to you know from the horse's mouth them talking about it it was rough Also in the original releases this is what it looked like with a lot of the names and like particulars like biological agents and agricultural disruption Uh this is what the redactions looked like before Now in another report it gets even worse They get more specific here It says "Mr Helm said that with regard to Cuba there has been an effective standown in externally mounted sabotage operations since February Policy approvals have been given only to oddments of passive sabotage such as supplying agents with incidiary pencils a mattress factory and a plastic works were burned down But CIA does not consider that such operations are enough and they are not the whole program that the CIA wants to conduct Man just like if we burn down you know these places of work with people in it and stuff like that it'll destabilize the economy more But we want to do more Oh boy Effectively when the CIA gains an enemy there are no links they are not willing to go to to take that enemy down even if a lot of people have to suffer in the process Not only were they willing to kill Castro but they were willing to hurt a lot of people in the region to do so I mean we talked earlier about how they were like supplying arms to paramilitary groups You know again I don't think they ever did it but they're talking about uh biological agents to destroy crops Um and here they're talking about how like mattress factories have burnt down and stuff like that and that supports their end goal So if they if they have an enemy they will see it through to the end But what happens if that enemy is the president of the United States kennedy said several times he especially after the Bay of Pigs invasion wanted to dissolve the CIA completely What happens then well you know what happened to that Kennedy guy is he okay is he all right so the last thing I want to talk about today is this little group that comes up a few times in this JFK file called Amsspel or at least referred to internally as AMP spell What is AMSL well AMSL is the CIA code word for something known as the DR which stands for directorio revolutionario ES studentl I'm so sorry my Spanish is awful Uh but most people refer to it as the student revolutionary directorate or DR for short The DR was a Cuban student activist group that launched out of the United States in 1960 to oppose Castro's regime And they very quickly as seen from these documents became a CIA asset This document is an 87page report going into details about how effective the DR has been uh and how they utilize them in several Latin American countries to get the word out uh that Castro is not good The majority of this consists of radio reports and magazine publications and flyers They even had some direct operations in Cuba because according to this document while talking about psychological warfare within Cuba It says in the civil war field the am hints in P Broomman the AM hints being a branch of AM spell which is the DR and P broom is an internal reference to Cuba So in other words in the cyar field the DR members in Cuba continue to produce trencher on a hand operated mioraph machine in Havana and distribute about 10,000 copies monthly A mioraph is a small device that is used to copy uh documents So they're using uh hand operated mioraphs in order to make a bunch of copies of this tranchera or trinkerara They're also committed to the collection and transmission of reports and photographs on the Soviet buildup at least until the damps and intelligence operations are begun This activity is in direct support of the Amsel policy cited in paragraph A1 The AMSel propaganda section is divided into four departments to carry out this program P Broomman Latin America prement exile community and PB Bime So effectively it comes off as a student group who just doesn't like Castro and wants him out of office but they are actually supplying the CIA information in regions like Cuba Uh and across all of Latin America they're also funded by them Uh most of the funding going towards um putting together more propaganda pieces more publications So the DR is effectively a Free People you know left-wing group that opposes Castro That's a CIA front But why does that matter well because as mentioned in this memo within the CIA from March of 1967 the author says "In spring of 1961 upon returning from Berlin I was assigned to JM Wave again the CIA outpost in Miami One of the cases I worked on from then until shortly before my reassignment to headquarters in late summer of ' 63 concerns funding and overseas elements of the DR which had its main office in Miami The case officer for this group during this period was Mr Ross Croer since resigned I believe that it is this group the DR which has been referred to in investigations into the president's assassination as the Cuban Student Directorate whose New Orleans representative is said to have had contacts with Lee Harvey Oswald So hang on a second I have assumed that since the time I was transferred from Miami and scheduled for my next assignment officers better and more recently informed than myself probably examined in detail all aspects of the DR involvement with Oswald in order to rule out any slight possibility that compromise of the CIA sponsorship of this organization might in any way embarrass the agency Recent news reports of investigations centering in New Orleans on the assassination have once again brought to mind the concern I felt in November of 63 at which time however I was far removed from current knowledge of the operation I do retain a distinct recollection that the DRE leadership specifically Luis Fernandez Roachcha whom I met several times did hold sentiments of chagrin and embitterment that President Kennedy had not more forcefully pursued a liberation of Cuba Whether or not this animus which could be discerned as occasional signs of anger or of contempt or of discouragement might have been translated into a wish for revenge maybe better known to other officers who dealt with this group after the summer of 1963 Signed Calvin Thomas So let's break this down So we know that Lee Harvey Oswald was from New Orleans and he went there just before the assassination We know that he made contact with the DR specifically someone there named Carlos Bringer that the two of them became friends Oswald was a leftist The DR were publicly leftist Uh even if they were outright you know they believed in their stuff they were still funded by the CIA So initially Oswald was friends with them until in August of 1963 when he was spotted handing out pro- Castro pamphlets in downtown New Orleans Carlos and some other DR guys confronted Oswald about this and it led to a physical fight that actually got all of them arrested And during this arrest Oswald spoke to an FBI agent just a few months before the assassination After they got out of jail Carlos asked Oswald to debate him on a radio show And this actually happened in August of 63 So even though they had a fight they were amicable enough to go on to a radio show even if it was for a debate after their arrest I don't know enough about this organization and the connections to know if they would even have the facilities to put an assassination or to give Oswald the gun and put him in that window in the first place right but I know the CIA does And that's really everything I wanted to go over from the JFK files or everything that me and my uneducated opinion found So is there a piece of paper that says the CIA or you know this XYZ organization killed Kennedy no But are there a piece of papers that say when the CIA has a problem with someone they're willing to uh destroy the crops to destroy the economy to destroy the reputation uh are they willing to hire the mafia in order to take them out yes Are there extensive files detailing their documentation and spying of American citizens yes Are there documents saying that they're willing to fund guerrilla wars in order to flip power regimes that they don't like yes And is there a connection that a CIA funded organization made contact with Oswald shortly before the assassination yes I'm not specifically saying it was Louise or Carlos or any of those guys but that is an area that we know the CIA was operating in that Oswald made contact with And if Oswald was pulling the trigger on behalf of the CIA I'm sure he never even knew it I'm sure if that did happen it would have been an agent that would have approached him and just been a real fighter for the cause who knows how they can get back at the man and knows exactly how Oswald can do it And I'm sure anything like that would never have been written down So my analysis of the JFK files is that there is a lot of heavy information in here And sure there may not be a smoking gun but something smells like gunsmoke And as far as the JFK files as a whole go what do I think about them well for one let me say that it is frankly incredible that this got published Several people myself included have been so vocal that if these things happened if the CIA did things that we don't agree with in the past or they don't agree with in the past like any other thing in history just own up to it acknowledge it And this is a huge step in the right direction for discrepancy and public involvement when it comes to their actions especially overseas So on the one hand I am grateful for that and appreciative that despite how horrifying some of the implications are in here um that they were made public because they could have just held on to these forever So the fact that the Fed let them out is big That being said I also know uh considering their tactics considering how you know the greater good above all I doubt that's changed in their uh goals I would say that the reason a lot of this information is allowed to come out is because it's old news I'm sure their tactics now are different I'm sure the way it looks are different I'm sure that their playbook has completely changed uh where this wouldn't matter anymore Again I'm very thankful that the information did come out that a lot of it is now public and admitted But at the same time I don't think that means I'll ever stop I'm sure the beast is still going It just probably looks a little different And with that we have uh my coverage of the JFK files Now again I'm just a YouTuber I do this stuff for fun I do this stuff because you guys are uh cool enough to allow me to do this for a living to talk to you to you about weird stuff I find online I'm not an expert by any means Uh I'm sure there is a ton of incredibly useful information in here that I just don't know what I'm looking at when I look at it I'm sure I miss some stuff Again there's with the extra releases closer to 80,000 pages at this point of documents that have come out and I can only look at them for so long before my brain turns to mush So I promise you I have done my best but I guarantee you there's more Again the link to the National Archives will be in the description if anyone wants to do research themselves as well as work off of any of the codes for the National Archive records that I've shown so far And I'm sure people far more educated than me can do a far better job But for those of you who are green to this who are looking for a place to begin hopefully this was that for you And hopefully it was at least a little bit interesting if depressing Uh and if you've stuck around this long then I just got to say thank you for watching This stuff fascinates me Again I'm grateful that it's out Uh if depressed but you got to rip the band-aid off eventually right and a ton of this stuff isn't new news Like I I've heard people talk about the DR I think before Um and I think I've heard that there were some authors who had alleged that the DR was a connected to the CIA So it's not like it's new information for a lot of people but it's new to me Uh and the CIA outright saying it makes a lot of dots connect So I need to redo the JFK video at some point with all the new information that's come out with me changing my opinion on it and learning more about the case Uh but when I do do that that'll be a big video So don't expect it anytime soon But I like I said I'm I'm very grateful this information has come out Hopefully it's the first of many steps towards you know front-facing ethics if you could call it that within the CIA I should also mention that you know pretty much everyone involved obviously like I said don't harass people mentioned in here journalists especially I'm sure half of them didn't even know who they were working with at the time But it should also be mentioned that all of these records are conveniently released when all the people involved are dead now If we did want to bring someone to justice it's too late for that this side of eternity right so it's it's kind of bittersweet in that regard but I doubt these people would see justice anyway It'd all be in the you know the doing the greater good for the world even if they don't like it So this is depressing Thank you all for watching the video It's insane that these documents came out And again I'm sure there's more and I'm sure this is just the first step for you and that you continue to learn as I hope to Uh but I'm just a guy who likes to have fun and this was a lot of fun when it wasn't sad So uh thank you guys for sticking around I hope it was fun for you More content on the way Thank you guys for the support with everything It really does mean the world I hope you enjoyed the rest of your day and that this information was useful to you if in some small way But before you go I just want to say thank you for watching I hope that you enjoyed and I will see you in the next one The CIA doesn't kill me Bye Actually wait no they they said it this time I didn't say it They said it Yeah it's real this time and not in Minecraft for once
