Understanding Paul's Teachings on Law and Christ

All praises to the Most High God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and peace to everyone joining us on this program. This is the Fountain of Israel's Bible Studies programs. Thank you guys for joining us for another week while we get through our technical issues. We need to upgrade in camera. We need to upgrade our data stream. And I just appreciate you guys kind of hanging in there while we keep working through that. We will get it. everything I can to get that fixed to have a better quality lesson okay that is the goal however so without further ado it's our lesson entitled from Paul to Christ to the law or if you will from Paul to Christ to Torah because we often hear in other teachings of the force from the law when reading from false texts. A lot of times we have teachers invade us from law through Christ. But what I endeavor to do, this lesson is I want to bring us closer together, to bring us back into covenant, because that is the whole goal for us as sisters. The whole goal is for us to be back into covenant with our Most High God. And the key is the Messiah. We don't just trade law and say, okay, let's put the law down, put that to the side, and give me some aside. No, no, no. It doesn't work that way, okay? So there is no separate dispensation. There is just us reconciling us back to the law, okay? We're going to do that through Paul, and we're going to look at his perspective, because we all know that he is often the most misquoted, misunderstood of all the apostles of all the writings that we have. So without any further ado, I want to get into the scriptures. Let's go to 1 Corinthians chapter 1. 1 Corinthians chapter 1. And when we get to 1 Corinthians chapter 1, I would like to start at verse 10. 1 Corinthians chapter 1 verse 10. Alright, give it to them. Now I beseech you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same theme, and that there are... that there be no divisions among them but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment yes so so right now we want to be on the same page but we see already whether it's a Israelite against Christian or Israelite against Israelite or Christian against Christian there's nothing but divisions left and right in our community or our communities and it should not be division as it is but continue verse 11 we're happening to clear Unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. Back and forth. Back and forth. Go ahead. That every one of you, I am of Paul, and I am of Apollos, and I am of Cephas, and I am of Christ. Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? That's a big question right there. That's a big question right there. Because anytime you go to talk to someone and you try to bring them back into covenant and say, hey, you know what? We need to go ahead and keep these law, statutes, and commandments and keep that holy. Okay? I'm talking about the covenant. Okay? I'm talking about the covenant. I'm not just banging the table on law, law, law, law. I'm just talking about getting back into covenant. Then they want to what? Throw Paul's writings at you. We don't have to do this. We don't have to do that. This is done away. Don't worry about it. It's all about Jesus. That's all we need. Okay? But look at the question he says right there. He said, is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Because everyone want to throw something that Paul said right back in your face to escape responsibility. That's what ends up happening, to escape responsibility. And they never consider the implications of what they're saying whatsoever. If you say something and it seems like it's not as detrimental, they're like, well, you know, we don't have to do the Sabbath. The Sabbath is on Sunday. He rose on Sunday. This and that, this and that. Okay. They try to justify that. But when you bring up other things that is a little more detrimental like, okay, so can we bear false witness? Can we lie? Can we murder? Oh, well, you know, you can't do that because that's in the new, you know, because, you know, they taught against that, you know, some of the old kind of transfer to the new. So we kind of, no, no, no. What you're trying to say is you want to keep the laws that you're okay with. in a sec Oh, see, that is in the law of Christ or whatever. Well, is homosexuality in the law of Christ? Is bestiality in the law of Christ? Because it's not explicitly explained in the New Testament. So now you are picking and choosing. So let's reconcile this whole thing. He says in verse 13, so he says, is Christ abided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or continue? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? Go ahead. Thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius. Go ahead. Lest any should say that I have baptized in my own name. And I baptized also the household of Stephanas. Besides, I know not whether I baptized any of you. For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel. Not with wisdom or words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of my own. For the cross is to them. there's forces onto us which are saved is the power of god go ahead for it is written i will destroy the wisdom of the wise and will bring to nothing to understand of the proof okay because we got a lot of people i got people on my videos today they're still saying the same thing they're saying hey brother you're keeping up like you're teaching the law you're teaching that and and look at you you know you're shaving your beard you want to have this wisdom of words they want to assume hey you know i got this vehicle or whatever. I don't have a video. Sue me. But that's what they are. They're law police. They're law police. I got my family lives with me. Okay. They know I never looked like ZZ Top. Okay. But you got the law. You got people running around. He's trying to teach and he's not focused on you keeping the law and quit dividing and getting into all these different camps and trying to figure out. No, no, no. You keep it. What are you running around and raiding everyone's refrigerator trying to make sure they don't have pork in there? There's plenty of law that you need to be focusing on, plenty that I need to be focusing on. I just deliver it, study it, deliver it to you. Do with it what you will. It's in your power, it's in your hands to save yourself. This is what we're talking about. Let's go to 1 Corinthians 1. escape they want to escape responsibility and accountability and hide the Messiah and it's the very Messiah who is saying you have accountability so you can't escape accountability first Corinthians chapter 11 first Corinthians chapter 11 I want to show you something real quick first Corinthians chapter 11 let's take a look at this and we can remember first Corinthians chapter 11 and reverse one something's interesting here I know run run run the ball but let's see what policy go ahead okay so he said you can follow me I do what I do So it should be congruent. It should agree, right? It should agree. Both of them are Israelites. Both of them did the Sabbath day. Both of them had war fringes. Both of them, same thing. Both of them maybe had a little beer or something like that. Everything was similar. Both of them talked a lot. Now go to John 14 for me. Now let's see something that Christ taught, okay? So, in 1 Corinthians 11 and 1, it says, Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. Is that pretty clear, or does someone need an explanation for that? Pretty clear, right? Okay, so we're going to look at John 14, John chapter 14, and just give me one verse. John chapter 14, read verse 15, Simon. John chapter 14, verse 15. Say that again. If you love me, keep my commandments. One more time, son. If you love me, keep my commandments. Now, that clearly does not mean you need a long dissertation from a professor or something. No. Pretty simple. So, someone's trying to take you away from that. But here's the other thing. There are some tactics out there. There are tactics out there. See, that should be plain and simple. If you love me, keep my commandments, right? But they're going to say, oh, look, but the commandments are different. Were they different when the rich young ruler came to them and said, hey, what must I do to inherit eternal life? And he said, if you are going to enter eternal life, keep the commandments. Were they different then? See, they want to make the Messiah like some kind of schizophrenic. He changes his mind. He says this over here, then he changes over there. No, no, no, no. It's all the same. And they want to take Paul, and they want to act like, well, Paul taught something different. Is Paul your Messiah? Paul even said, well, I crucified for you. You know? I wasn't crucified for you. And people, oh, I'm in this camp. I'm in this camp. This person, this person. baptized me and you know and Paul's like you know I'm glad I didn't baptize any of you guys except for these two and anybody else I don't even remember if I baptized because I'm not here to baptize he's not changing things okay he's coming at a different perspective but he's not changing anything okay if we're we're both out at an elephant we're standing in front of an elephant you're standing behind the elephant and I start describing the elephant from my perspective, and you're trying to describe the elephant from your perspective, it's the same elephant, but our perspective is just a little bit different. Make sense? Same thing. That's all. Just a different perspective. Let's go to Acts 24. Let's go to Acts 24 for people who keep thinking, oh well, you know, Paul just kind of brought something different to the table. Now you're gonna have to ask yourself, You guys don't have to make up in your own mind, is Paul schizophrenic? Is he a hypocrite? Is he, you know, what is he? Is he a liar? You have to make up in your own mind if you read his own words. Oh, over here, we don't have to keep the law, we don't have to do anything. But over here, he says we do. Hmm, I don't know. And then, oh, look, he said you have to, when he's talking to Jews, then when he goes to Gentiles, it's something different. What happened to one law, one faith, one baptism? Let's go to Acts 24 and pick it up at verse 10, brother. Acts 24, verse 10. Acts 21, verse 10. Then Paul, after the governor had beckoned unto him to speak, answered, For as much as I know that thou hast been of many years of judgment unto this nation, I do the more cheerfully answer thy prayer. for myself okay now look at what paul's doing okay of course he's brought up by charges he's on trial and he's standing before the governor you know a ruler at the time all right and the ruler the governor said hey you know what do you have something to say for yourself you know pretty much okay and if paul said you know for as much as i know that has been a judge for many years i mean uh that many years have been a judge on this nation basically ruling over this nation i do the more cheerfully answer for myself what is the first election understand that there are yet but twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem for to worship and they neither found me in the temple of the disputing with any man neither raising up the people nor in the city of us nor in the city okay so he said now he's he's standing up for himself he's entering for himself okay he said now I'm brought up and they're talking all this trash about me this is what he's saying they're talking all this trash and he said but let me tell you something They neither found me in a temple dispute, they didn't see me fighting with anybody in a temple, neither raising up the people, you know, gathering people up themselves, like, you know, do this and just spark some kind of riot or uprising or something. They didn't see me doing that, neither in a synagogue, that's a smaller assembly, smaller churches, okay? Nor in the city. Didn't see me doing any of that, okay? But in verse 13, neither can they prove the things whereof they now accuse me. They say all this stuff, but nobody can prove it. We understand that? Go ahead. But what does he say in 14? But this I confess unto thee, that after the way in which they had called heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written into law and into the prophet. That should pretty much say everything you need to know. You need to hold on to this particular text. Because as soon as someone says, well, Paul, he taught against the law, or we don't have to do that anymore, or he didn't believe in that, what did he just say in 14? He said, but this I confess unto thee, after the way which they call heresy, so worship I, the God of my fathers, believing all things written in the law and in the prophets. What is the law and the prophets? The first five books. And everything from Joshua to Malachi, right? That's the prophets. So we got Torah, the first five books, and everything from Joshua to Malachi. He said he believes all that. He said he believes all that. Let that resonate. Go to Acts 17. While everything, let's drop down to Acts 17, chapter 17. Look at a couple things here. Acts 17, pick it up at verse 1. Acts 17 and 1. Acts 17, verse 1. Yes, sir. Now when they had passed through Amphipolis. Amphipolis, good job. They came to Bethlehem. Perfect. Where was he? It was a synagogue of the Jews. Yep. And Paul, as his manner was, the end of three Sabbath days, reading with him all the scriptures, opening and alleging the knowledge that Christ was needs, have suffered. Wait, wait, wait, wait. This dude, a couple things. One, you know, that's his custom. Okay, it's something he did normally. Okay, as his custom was, right? And he went on to them, and then for three Sabbaths, okay, that's three weeks right there, three weeks in a row, he's been with them out of the Scriptures. And look at what he got out of the Scriptures. Look at what he got out of them. Now, first we got to know what are the Scriptures, okay, Old Testament, okay, is what we call Old Testament. But look at what he got out of the Scriptures, opening and alleging that Christ must need to have suffered from the dead, okay, finish that, son, in three. verse three in the legend that christ has suffered and risen again from the dead and that this jesus whom i preach unto you is christ he is the messiah he is anointed okay christ means anointing he is the messiah so he he he was able to go into the old testament and say hey look this christ person we're talking about this is the messiah let me show you in the scripture opening and alleged showing them in the scripture Probably went to some Psalm 110, some Isaiah 53, some Psalm 2. Probably went to some Daniel 9. You guys know the scriptures, okay? From Paul to Christ to Torah. He dealt with the Messiah and he dealt with the Old Testament. Why? Because that's all they had. No New Testament. okay so he said the picture on you is quite a verse for this finish but some of the lead and consortium with puns no need to develop Greeks a great multitude mean that the chief will not feel yeah a lot of people start to believe that oh this is this must be a field Messiah Paul is teaching okay this is a former well this is a Pharisee okay so he knew the law pretty well right would you say So he knew the law pretty well, and he's showing people out of the law and out of the prophets, Christ, this is the dude. This is that prophet like unto Moses. Until Shiloh comes, this is Shiloh. You see what I'm saying? You see where I'm going? That's what we're talking about. Okay, so now, that's what his custom was, going to the synagogue on a Sabbath day. you know, and look in reasoning out of the scriptures and stuff. Look at Luke chapter 4, and we'll go back to Acts 13 in a minute, but let's go to Luke chapter 4 first. Luke chapter 4. Luke chapter 4. Let's look at this. And when you get to Luke 4, pick it up at verse 14. Luke 4, verse 14. Luke 4, verse 14. And Jesus returned in the power of his Spirit into Galilee. And there went out a fiend of him through all the region around the Bible. What did he do? And he taught him their synagogues. And he glorified the Lord. Yep. And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. Okay. And as his custom was. Oh, the son. As his custom was. Is that the same as his manner was? Okay. So Paul Christ doing the same thing. Okay. I just wanted to check that. What he said his custom was what? He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath. day instead of for to me kind of like what we're doing now and on the seventh day cracking open the Bible reading so what we're doing we're doing for a reason what we do have at least a reason why we do it the way we do it right so that that's why we do it this way so now he did Paul do it Christ did it as well okay so we so so we got some congruency there let's go back to Acts 13 Okay, let's go to Acts 13. We're going to go in Acts for a little bit. Just a little bit. Acts 13 and 13. Yes, sir. And now I'm calling his company and his company loose from Paphos. They came to Perga and Amphilia. From there, they returned to Jerusalem. But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch and Pisidia. And went into the synagogue on the second day and sat down. Ah, they went to the synagogue on what day? The Sabbath. Okay, keep going. And after the reading of the law and the promise. Now, wait a minute. They sat down and they read the what? The law and the promise. What? So this is just what they did normally, right? A normal occurrence. And this is talking about... Go ahead, son. He said, went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day again. Sabbath day. Sat down. And after... reading the law and the prophets. Go ahead. The rulers of the synagogue sit unto themselves, ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on. Now, they got some knowledge first. Do that today. A lot of times, in today, we do like a little Q&A or something like that. Okay, you can do a Q&A. But that's it. They're just saying, okay, after we read, we want to rethink. They get this every Saturday. It's just what they get. Every Saturday, they stood up for truth. They read. They gave you some knowledge out of the scriptures. And then after you have some knowledge, then they say, hey, did anybody have any words of wisdom, any exhortation or whatever? Okay. Say on. Normal. You can do that today. Say on. Okay. Now, drop down to verse 42. Go ahead. 42. 42. And then the Jews were gone. We're gone out of the synagogue. And then the Jews were gone. that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath. They went on to the next Sabbath. See, a lot of people want to get away with that one too. They got preached. They preached on the next Sabbath day. Why not just tell the Gentiles, since it's different from the Jews and the Gentiles, they're different. Why not just tell the Gentiles, no, let's do tomorrow, one Sunday. We can just come right back up here to the synagogue, open up some scriptures, and I'll just teach you tomorrow. And it looks like they've been doing it Sabbath after Sabbath after Sabbath. Just something to think about. He said, I saw that these words might be preached unto them the next Sabbath. In verse 43, go ahead. Knowing the congregation was broken up, the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God. Okay, so keep doing what you're doing, basically. Persuade them to continue in the grace of God. Proselytes is convert, okay? So they persuade him and say, just keep doing, continue in the grace of God. Just keep doing what you're doing. Let's go back to Acts 18. Acts 18. What I want to do, what I am endeavoring to do, brothers and sisters, is to show you some consistency. Everybody else, they want to show you something, but it's going to just be a little bit of confusion. They're going to show you a little bit of ambiguity to confusion. But I want to show you a little bit of consistency because you've got to be planted on solid ground so that you're not so soon shaken from your position. If it's on solid ground, you have to be convinced and see for yourself, read along and see for yourself. OK, OK, there is some consistency here. You know, Paul believed the Old Testament, taught the Old Testament through the Messiah. He was. reasoning out of the scriptures that, hey, this dude, Christ, he's the Messiah. Yeshua, if you will. Acts 18, Acts 18 and verse 5. Demotheus. Macedonia. Look what he kept trying to do. trying to convince people listen jesus is the messiah yeshua is the messiah that's that's what he's trying to convince them of okay so he said and testified to the jews that jesus was christ okay go ahead and when they opposed themselves and blessed and blessed and blasphemed he shook his rape his raiment and said to them i'm clean from henceforth i will go on to the gentiles okay and he didn't change his story then But see, he shook his rein. He kept trying to reason with the Jews. He kept trying to tell them, hey, listen, Jesus is to Christ. Yeshua Hamashiach. Okay. But they didn't want to hear it. And he said, you know what? I'll wash my hands. I'm done. I'm just going to go to the hospital. You guys don't want to listen. Your brother's on your own hands. Meaning if you perish, if you go to hell, it's not my fault. Okay, that's all he's saying. I told you. You don't want to listen? Okay, fine. Wash your hands. See, a lot of times what we try to do, we try to convince people. Convince, convince. No, no, no, no. Your job is just to tell them. Not to convince them. Not to convince them. He said, okay, I'm just going to go into the Gentiles in verse 7. Go ahead. He departed things and entered into a certain man's house named Justice, one that worshiped God, whose house joined hard to the synagogue. And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house. Many of the Corinthians herein believed and were baptized. Yes. They spake the word to Paul in the night by a vision. Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace. So he's telling us, speak. Don't hold your peace. Go ahead. For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee. For I have much people in this city. And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them. Okay, so wait a minute. A year and six months, he's teaching the word of God. He's going as his custom was, as his man of war. He's just teaching the word of God. So you got 18 months worth of Sabbaths that he's teaching. And I'm not saying he didn't say something to people on any other day, but I'm saying standing up in a synagogue, reading out the scriptures, Sabbath. It didn't change. That's a year and a half right there. And they say he continued a year and six months. That's what it says. Right. OK. Teaching the word of God among them. Let's go to Matthew 19. Matthew 19. The only thing that Paul did. that changed from him at his conversion is to say, you know what? The Messiah has been realized. Messiah has been materialized, has been prophesied. Now he's materialized. Christ is the one. That's really the only difference. That's the major difference. That's it. Matthew 19, pick it up at 16. Matthew 19, 16. Matthew 19 verse 16 And behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, What callest thou me good? There is no good but one, that is God. But if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. So is Christ going to get this guy killed for something? Because he said if you want eternal life, keep the commandments, right? That's pretty clear! Oh, no, he hadn't died yet. What kind of foolishness is that? You want eternal life, keep the commandments. Let's just see, let's see if it's a different set. Go ahead. Which, Jesus said, thou shalt not do no murder, thou shalt not commit adultery, thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not bear false witness, honor thy father and thy mother. And thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. Okay, so he basically summed it up. When he threw in, you know, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself, he just summed it up. Okay, we know that's Leviticus. But he just summed it up because we know the first four has to do with worshiping God. The last six of the big ten has to do with loving thyself and thy neighbor. Okay, so that's all he did. He just summed it up. That's it. But everyone wants to make it something different. Something completely different go back to second Timothy. Let me show you something second Timothy and go to chapter three You get the second Timothy. Okay, and pick it up at verse 12 second Timothy 3 12 Yes, sir, yeah, and all that will live in godly Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution But evil men and seducers shall walk wet worse and worse deceiving and being deceived okay so listen to what he said he said yeah you know all that was godly with a difference you ladies covering in your head you know you guys are trying to be men and leaders they're gonna try to knock you down you're trying to avoid poor products they're gonna try to knock you down they're gonna try to sneak it in on you or whatever okay and when you just declare something that you believe or whatever they're really gonna come after okay so everyone that lives godly godly in christ jesus you persecution that is going to happen in the past, it's happening now, it's going to continue to happen until he comes back. But evil men and seducers, you know what seducers are, okay, evil men and seducers just got waxed worse and worse. It's going to get harder. shall grow worse and worse deceiving and being deceit because you got a lot of people a lot of see people running around deceiving other people blindly in the blind right okay continue verse 14 yes knowing of whom thou hast learned them yeah and that from a child thou hast known the holy scripture which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith Which is in Christ Jesus. Now, what did I say at the beginning of this lesson? I said that he taught the law through Christ. Look at what that statement says, ladies and gentlemen. It says, and that from a child thou has known the holy scriptures. So you have to ask yourself, what are the scriptures? Okay. And has been assured of. Okay. I'm sorry. Known the holy scriptures, which are able to make the wise unto salvation. scriptures that can make you wise unto salvation through faith which is in Jesus Christ. I say he taught the law through Christ. The scriptures are wise, is able to make you wise unto salvation. They will teach you how to save yourself, teach you how to get salvation through Christ. We have to understand that. Okay? Now, read verse 16. All Scripture is given by inspiration. What is it good for? All Scripture is given by inspiration. And it's profitable for doctrine, for reproof and correction, for instruction and righteousness. Okay, so, yeah, it's good for all these things. And he said all Scriptures. All Scriptures. Ask yourself again, what are the Scriptures? And you know the answer to that. See, we got to break this back down to where it makes sense. Go to Acts 21. Go to Acts 21. We got to do this to where it all makes sense. I don't want to let anyone deceive us. Acts 21 and 18. And remember, you got it from the book. You read it for yourself. Follow along. Acts 21 and 18. Go ahead. Acts 21 and 18. And the day following the call went in with us unto James, and all the elders were present. And when he had saluted them, he declared particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry. And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said unto him, Thou seest, brethren, that there are which believe, and they are all. Zealous of the law. They're passionate about the law. Go ahead. And they were informed of him that thou teachest all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, rather to walk after their customs. Okay, so he said they heard that Paul, that's a lot of people doing it today, a lot of, you know, modern-day Christians are doing it today, same thing. They're saying, oh, Paul, you don't got the... You don't have to circumcise it. Circumcision is nothing. They say these things. But even in that day, he was accused then, and you'll notice Paul's accused now of teaching against him. He said, for they are informed of thee, this is what they heard, that thou teachest all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses. Don't worry about that Old Testament. You have to ask yourself, is Paul a hypocrite? He said over in Acts 24, he said he believed in the law and the prophets. He said, I believe all that law and the prophets. Serve to God and my Father, right? And then over here, he's saying, hey, we heard that thou teaches all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs. Verse 22. What is it therefore? multitude must need to come together. For they will hear that thou art come. Okay, so you need to tell us something because they're going to hear about you being here and we've got to do something about that. Go ahead. Do not take and purify thyself. No, no, no. You've got to do 23. 23. Give therefore this that we say to thee. We have four men which have a vow and a faith. do take to purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may shave their heads, and all may know that those things whereof are in form concerning thee, are nothing, but that thou thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law. So wait, wait, wait, so did he just say... basically take this vow is for the dudes they got a vow in them as well okay go ahead and take the vow I'll be in charge with them and prove basically that you walk orderly and keep this the law that's basically what I'm hearing right so he said prove it prove it okay and he has a vow so let's take a look at this vow they went right back to law to prove that he's keeping the law so go to Numbers chapter 6 Numbers chapter 6. And when you get to number 6, start at verse 1. Numbers chapter 6, verse 1. Yes, sir. And the Lord spake unto Moses saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, When either man or woman shall separate themselves from the Lord, Okay, so this is the vow of Nazarite. Go ahead. He shall separate himself. for wine and strong drink. And he shall drink no vinegar of wine or vinegar of strong drink. Neither shall he drink in liquor of grapes nor eat moist grapes or dry. Okay, so no wine, no grapes. No fruit of the vine. None of that. He didn't have that. This is the time of his separation and he's going to not drink it. He's not going to do that. No wine, no grapes, stuff like that. He's not going to shake his head but we're going to look at it. Go ahead. Keep reading. On the days of his... separation shall he eat nothing that is made of the vine tree from the kernels even to the house and all the days of the vow of his separation there shall no way shall be holding the locks of the hair of his head grow yes All the days that he separated himself unto the Lord, he shall come at no dead body. No dead body. Go ahead. He shall not make himself unclean for his father, nor for his mother, nor for his brother, or for his sister, because the consecration of his God is upon his head. All the days of his separation, he is holy unto the Lord. Okay. Notice some of the criteria. When you bow the vow of a Nazarite, this is what Paul was under at the time. Wasn't shaving and no wine, no grapes, no vinegar wine, no liquor wine, none of that stuff. And don't put a razor to his head. None of that. OK, this is he's consecrated himself unto the Lord. He's a holy person. He's being separate. He's being set apart. So all the days of the separation now, when those days end. You go ahead and shave and drop down to verse 18. Let's see what he does. In the Nazareth, he shall shave the head of his separation at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. He shall take the hair of the head of his separation and put it in the fire, which is under the sacrifice of the peace offering. That's what he had to do. That's what he had to do. Okay. So now let's take a look at some of Paul's writings. Let's take a look at some of his writings real quick. When you go to Romans 11, a couple of quick verses real quick. Just to show you that he taught out of the law. This man was a Pharisee. Taught out of the law. Romans 11, 34. Okay, we're going to stop right there. Now, keep your marker in Romans because we're going to come back, but go to Isaiah 40. Okay, so we're going to go back to Romans. Go to Isaiah 40. I'm going to read one verse from there. Okay, so in Romans 1134, it's just talking about, you know, it's counseling. I will pass on my word. been his counselor okay look at us 40 revert 13. do you register of the lord being his counselor at the time so okay so no but that's right now for that one okay okay and we Verse 11. Okay. So more Paul writing. Go ahead. Romans 14, verse 11. Romans 14, verse 11. One verse. Go ahead. For it is written, as I live, I seek the Lord. Every knee shall bow to him. Thank you, God. Okay. Let's see where he got it from. Isaiah 45. Out of the prophets. Okay. If this doesn't convince you, nothing can convince you. He talked out of the prophets. Isaiah 45. Okay, Isaiah 45, verse 23. We'll get there. Go ahead and read. I have sworn by myself. The word is gone out of my mouth, and righteousness shall not return. That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. Okay, so is that pretty much the same thing? Swear, confess, same thing. Every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear, every tongue shall confess. So Paul, we see where Paul got it from, right? Let's go on over and drop to, you're still in Isaiah, but go to Isaiah 28. Go ahead. Verse 28. Chapter 28. Okay, 28. Pick it up at verse 11. Chapter 28, verse 11. Yes. For it's down he lives, and in another tongue will he speak to his people. He said, this is the rest wherewith he may cause the way to rest. And this is the refreshing. They would not hear. Okay, yet they would not hear. Okay, so he's going to talk. He's talking about a few times when he's going to talk to his people. And there's going to be prophets or apostles or whatever trying to talk to his people. And they won't listen. They won't listen. Okay, would you open that blind right there? So let's go on over to 1 Corinthians 14. 1 Corinthians 14. Okay, so we just saw Isaiah 28. He said, with a stammering lip and another tongue, will I speak to this people? Okay, now you're in 1 Corinthians 14. Read verse 21. Because to whom he said, this is the rest with which they may cause. the weary to rest and this is the refreshing yet they would not hear every 14 21 first corinthians 14 21 go ahead first corinthians 14 21 and the law is written with men of other tongues and other lives will speak unto this people and for all that will they not hear me say the lord okay so i mean is paul making stuff up he's gonna make his stuff up he's getting it from somewhere that's That's what I don't get with some people. They treat him as though he's just making something up for Romans chapter 2. Romans chapter 2. Okay. And read verse 24. I want to read a couple of them, and then we're going to go to the Old Testament. We're going to read a couple of things there. Paul wrote, and then we're going to go to the Old Testament to see where he got it from, okay? So Romans chapter 2 and 24. Read that. For the name of God is blessed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written. Okay, and remember, that is written, so we need to go find that somewhere, and we will. Go to Romans chapter 10. Romans chapter 10. And when you get to chapter 10, read verse 15. Keep that one in mind, people. Yes, sir. And how shall they preach, except they be sent? As it is written, how beautiful are the feet of men that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things. Okay, so I want you guys to remember that. Okay? Romans 10 and 15. Alright? Now go to Romans 15, chapter 15. And then we've got another place, and then we're going to look at the references. Okay? 15 and verse 21. Read that. Okay. to whom he was not spoken of they shall see they that have not heard it shall understand okay so one more place for second corinthians for them okay we'll just jump into them real quick i want you guys to keep this in mind okay so second corinthians chapter six read verse 17 wherefore come out from among them and be he separate seek the lord touch not the unclean thing and I will receive you. Okay, now before we move on, I want all you guys to remember this. Now, go to Isaiah 52 and wait for me over there, okay? Isaiah 52, and wait for me there. I want to look at a couple things. Now, he said, and it's written with men of other tongues. Okay, so we got that from Isaiah, but we moved on. We went Romans 2 and 24. The name of God is by faith in Gentiles through you as it is written. We also read Romans 10 and 15. And how shall they preach except they be sent as it is written? How beautiful are the feet of them. that bring the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things. We also read Romans 15 and 21, but as it is written, whom he was not spoken of, they shall see, and they that have not heard shall understand. And finally, with 2 Corinthians 6 and 17, wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, says the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing. will receive you so now that we're Isaiah 52 let's pick it up at verse 5 we're gonna move around a couple places go ahead verse 5 yes sir now therefore what have I here say the Lord that my people is taken away for not they that rule over them make them to how and my name continually every day is blessing and my name continually is blaspheme every day go drop down the verse 7 verse 7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings. We read that, right? That bringeth good tidings. Go ahead. That publisheth peace. That bringeth good tidings of good. That publisheth salvation. Talk about salvation. Go ahead. That Satan's design on the earth by God breatheth. Okay. Drop down to verse 11. So we read a scripture about his name being blasphemed. We read a scripture about how good are the feet that bring good tidings. Okay. So we're going to go verse 11. Go ahead. Depart ye, depart ye. Go ye out from thence. Touch not one clean thing. Go ye out of the midst of her. Be ye clean that bear the vessels of the Lord. Now, isn't it the same that come out from among them, be ye separate, and touch not the unclean thing? It's saying the same thing. Depart. Come out. Same thing. Go ye out from thence. Touched no unclean thing. Same thing. Okay. Drop to verse 15. Go ahead. Many nations shall shut their mouths at him, for that which had not been spoken shall they see, and that which they had not heard shall be considered. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Let's go on. I mean, I don't know. I'm clear on that. Joel 3. I have to agree. Okay, and we'll pick it up at verse 1, Si. I just want to, I'm just, where's Paul getting this information from? All we're saying, Joel chapter 3, pick it up at verse 1. Uh-huh. For behold, in those days, in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of... Jehoshaphat. Yes. And will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel. For they have scattered among the nations and parted my land and they have cut and they have cast lots for my people and have given a boy for it in harlot and so a girl for wine that they might drink. Yea and what have ye to do with me? Otear. Otear. and all the coasts of Palestine, will ye render me to a recompense? And if ye recompense me swiftly and speedily, will I return your recompense upon your own head? Because ye have taken my silver and my gold, and have carried it into your temples, my goodly, pleasant things. Yes, sir. And yes, sir. Okay. Let's go on over to Acts real quick. Acts chapter 2. So we're looking at Joel real quick. We wanted to kind of look and see what it had to say there. Now let's look at Acts 2. And pick it up at Acts 2 verse 17. Go ahead. Acts 2 verse 17. And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit, and they shall prophesy, and I will show wonders in heaven above. and signs of the earth beneath blood and fire and vapor and smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before that great and notable day of the Lord come. And it shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. We know that we can't go, you know, in the Old Testament, we can't go, you know, to Joel and other places in Joel where this prophecy was particularly popular. Okay, so nothing really changed. Nothing really changed. It's a perspective that changed and that's it. That's what I wanted to do. It's just a perspective change. That's it. Okay, so we're going to go ahead and go to, because a lot of times they feel like, well, we're, you know, we're under faith. At first it was all about the law in the Old Testament. and we're under faith. That's all that matters right now. Faith. Go to Galatians chapter 3, verse 11. Galatians 3, verse 11. That no man is justified by the law, it is ungodly. It is evident for the judgment. And then you get a long sermon about an hour and a half of it's all about. Faith now, because we're in a new covenant, we're in a new testament, now it's about faith. That's it. We're more stringent in the Old Testament. Right now, it's about faith. Right there, the no man is justified by the law. It's like the guy, you're not going to be justified, so what's the use? You won't be justified. Brother, sister, you need faith. That's what it's about. Probably the Old Testament didn't have faith. Just to make sure, is Habakkuk in the Old Testament? Yes or no? Okay, it's in the Old Testament. Just check your Bible. Habakkuk 2. Okay, give me one verse. Verse 4. For his soul which is lifted up is not upright in the name of the Lord, but it shall live by his name. Isn't that something you just read? Yeah. Sounds just like Galatians 3.11, doesn't it? Because Galatians 3.11 says it, but... But that no man is justified by the law of the sight of God, is evident for the just shall live by faith. Habakkuk just said, behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him, and you're messing up. You know the law, you're messing up. Okay? But the just shall live by faith. What's new? Nothing new. Go back to Galatians 3. Okay? We're going to read the other two after that. Go back to Galatians 3. Okay? Read 12 and 13. Galatians chapter 3. verse 12 13. chapter 3 verse 12. in the law is not a faith but the man that doeth and shall live in it yep christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law what is the curse of the law death go ahead be made a curse for us for it is written cursed is everyone that hangeth on the tree okay now go to leviticus 18 go to leviticus 18. We've got a few more places before we get out of here. Leviticus 18, give me one verse. Chapter 18, give me one verse, which would be verse 5. Go ahead. Yes, sir. Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, which if a man do, he shall live in them. I am the Lord. Okay, so we're just answering the question. Like he said in Galatians 3.12, he said, And the law is not a fake book, but the man that doeth them shall live in it. So we just read it out. Therefore keep my statutes and my judgment, which the man doeth, he shall live in them. I am the Lord. Go to Deuteronomy 21. Okay, because he also said in 13 Galatians 3 and 13 he said Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law He made a curse for us for it is written curses everyone that is hanging on the tree So read Deuteronomy 21 and give me verse 23 23 His body shall not remain all night upon the tree And thou shalt in any wise bury him that day for he that is hanged is accursed of God exactly that thy land be not defiled, lest the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance. That's all I'm talking about, okay? So again, referencing Old Testament, referencing law, we saw what he referenced. When he references prophets, now we're looking at him referencing the Torah, referencing the law. Ephesians chapter 6, if you will. Go with me to Ephesians chapter 6. Okay? Let's look at this. He's actually asking you to do something. Okay? So read Ephesians chapter 6 and verse 2. Go ahead. Ephesians chapter 6, verse 2. Honor thy father and thy mother, which is the first commandment, with promise, that it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on earth. That it may be well with thee. Honor thy mother, not father. That it may be well with thee. referencing something old. Exodus 20. Okay, we're jumping around a little bit, but I want to show you guys that he didn't gain any perspective. That's it. Okay, so Exodus 20. Okay, Exodus 20, and go to verse 12. Now, Ephesians 6 and 2 is the honor of my father, which is the first commandment with promise that they may be well with me, and now it's their... verse 12 says what? Honor thy father and thy mother, for thy days may be long upon that land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee. So did he change something? Deuteronomy 5. Maybe he got it from here. Deuteronomy 5. What does that say at verse 16? As the Father and the Mother, as the Lord thy God hath commanded. that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee in the land of which the Lord thy God giveth thee. So that's... I'm gonna leave that alone. I'm gonna let that marinate with you guys, okay? And I'm gonna leave that alone. I hope you guys understand that this is just normal. This is part of the Course. That's all this is. Go with me to Hebrews 1, okay? Go with me to Hebrews 1. Now, it's not settled as to which apostle wrote Hebrews. Okay? Let me make that decision right now. It's not settled. Some people believe it's Paul. Some people don't. But let's take a look at it anyway. Okay? Let's assume that it's Paul. Okay? For argument's sake, hear me. Hebrews 1, verse 8. Hebrews 1, verse 8. Go ahead. Hebrews 1, verse 8. but unto the son he saith thy throne O God is forever and ever right the scepter of righteousness is the scepter of thy kingdom yes thou hast loved righteousness and hated iniquity therefore God even thy God hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness yes sir now we're going to go back to Hebrews I do want you to Keep your place there if you need to. And go to Psalm 45. Let's take a look at this. Psalm 45. Okay? Chapter 45. Psalm 45. And in verse 6. Go ahead. Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of thy kingdom is a right scepter. Thou lovest righteousness. righteousness and hate and hate and hate witness therefore god by god have anointed thee with the oil of gladness upon thy fellows interesting so if i read hebrews 1 and 8 if i read hebrews 1 and 8 they said but unto the son he said thy throne of god is forever and ever acceptor of righteousness is acceptor of thy kingdom god has loved righteousness and hated iniquity therefore god even thy god has anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows And then we go back to the prophets and go to Psalms 45 and 46. Thy strong, O God, is forever and ever. Thy kingdom is a great scepter. Thy love and righteousness and hate and iniquity are wickedness. Therefore, God, thy God, has anointed thee with the oil of mass above thy clothes. Nothing being made of it. Got it right from the Old Testament. We're going to go to Psalm again, but let's go to Hebrews first. Go ahead. Hebrews, Hebrews chapter 1. Okay, we need chapter 1, verse 10. And thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the works of thine hands. They shall perish, but thou remainest. and they all shall wax old as dark a garment. And as you shall go there, they shall be changed. But thou art the same. Yes, sir. Now, when I come back to... You know what? We'll go ahead and read. Read verse 13 as well, and then we'll go to those references. Go ahead. But the witch and the angels... of the angels said he at any time sit in my right hand until i make that any least died footstool no problem okay so let's now we got that in mind 102. okay now what we're going to deal with is what we read in Hebrews chapter 1 and the first two verses and in in in 11 and 12 those first three okay we're going to do those three verses as a reminder to you but down in yours and it says and the beginning and they shall be changed but that part of this thing is shall never you know eternal that's okay I'm not going to start. And now, Psalm 110, because we read, you read a verse, a pretend he was one, which said, but he will sit on my hands until I make that enemy's side close to him. So now you're 110, and I'll read the verse. The Lord said unto my Lord, sit down by my hand until i make that okay same same thing same thing uh let's go to romans 13. and we got yeah romans 13 we got three places uh this is one of three and then we are finished so romans 13 i want you guys to read that check this out romans 13 at verse 8. okay so again this is He that loveth another has fulfilled his love. Now, what a lot of people do, they read the Acts down the street and say, See, see, see, all you have to do is love each other. That's the law. That's all you have to do. But we're going to continue. Go ahead. Verse 9. For this thou shalt not commit adultery, nor thou shalt not kill, nor thou shalt not steal, nor thou shalt not default to witness, nor thou shalt not covet. And if there be any other community, it is briefly comprehended in this same. It's also. shall live the believer as myself. That's how you sum it up. Love thy neighbor as thyself. All this stuff he said really means to love thy neighbor as thyself. This is what you need to do, right? But we know he didn't make that up. Okay? That much we know. In the end, the note is that we're in the New Testament. He's still talking about the law. He's not going to force us to do it. Okay? So let's go to Deuteronomy 5. Just kind of take a little peek at what we got. Okay? Deuteronomy 5. Okay, and we'll start at 16. We know Ephesians. He said, honor thy mother and thy father. Who said that? So let's go ahead and say, I figured it was 16. Let's go ahead and put that disclaimer out there. I also want to think I'm trying to sneak in an extra line. He said it in his other writings, honor thy mother and thy father. Okay, we're going to be 5 and 16. Honor thy father and thy mother as thou hast commanded me, that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee. And the Lamb is the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not kill, neither shalt thou commit adultery, neither shalt thou steal from him, neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy neighbor. Okay, so far everything he said sounds really familiar now that we know where he got it from. So let's just continue. Go ahead. Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbor's wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbor's house, his field, or his servant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or anything that is thy neighbor's. Don't covet anything that belongs to your neighbor. Period. That's it. It belongs to your neighbor, not yours. Don't covet it. Don't lust for it. Scheme to try to get it. Don't hate on him because he has it. Pretty clear. Don't covet after it. Not yours. Matter of fact, work and go get your own. How about that? Last place, because he also said, if it's really comprehensive, love thy neighbor as thyself. Maybe he made that up, too. Go to Leviticus 19. Last place. Go to Leviticus 19, because maybe, you know, Christ said it. OK, he said it in the gospel. Love thy neighbor as thyself. Love God. They said, which of the two greatest commandments? He said, love God all thy heart, mind, soul. They said, love thy neighbor as thyself. Let's see if this is new. Leviticus 19, read verse 18. Leviticus 19, verse 18. Yes, sir. Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself, and the Lord. Ah, look at that. All summed up, huh? I've licensed a nice little neat book. That's what I wanted to bring forth to you, ladies and gentlemen. Okay? I just wanted to bring forth today, he didn't really change anything. He drew everything from the law and the prophet, and he just had a different perspective. He said, okay, look, we got to do these things, but we got to do this through Christ. The promise and prophesy of Messiah. We have to do it through him, or else all the law keeping will mean nothing. But we do have to do that. He even said. Do we make void the law through faith? God forbid. Yay, we established the law. Hang in there with us through our technical difficulties. We will continue to work to get better quality, better camera, better equipment, better everything, so that you guys can enjoy these lessons without any interruption. So thank you guys for hanging in there. And until next time, I hope you get edified by this lesson. improve all things.
