Memorizing the Ten Commandments with Actions

Here's a great way to learn and remember the Ten Commandments given to Moses in Exodus chapter 20 and also recorded in Deuteronomy chapter 5 in the Old Testament of the Bible. We're going to use some simple hand actions to help us remember the Ten Commandments. Commandment number one, you shall have no other gods before me. God is number one. Commandment number two, you shall not make for yourself an idol and bow down and worship it.

You shall not make for yourself any image of anything in heaven or on earth or in the sea below, and bow down and worship it. Commandment number two. Commandment number three. Notice that's like a W, to remind you to remember your words. Do not misuse the name of the Lord your God.

Remember your words. Commandment number four. It's like a stop sign. Stop.

Rest. Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Stop.

Commandment number five. Honor your father and mother. Yes, sir.

Commandment number five. Honor your father and mother. Yes, sir.

Like you're respecting the authorities, respecting your father and mother. Commandment number six. Do not murder.

Commandment number seven. There are two people in a marriage, not five. Commandment number five. 7. Do not steal. In some countries they cut off your thumbs, in others they put you in prison.

Do not steal. 9. Do not steal. 10. Do not steal. Four is not five.

Do not lie. Four is not five. Do not lie.

Do not give false testimony about anything or anyone. Do not lie. Commandment number 10. Do not want anything that belongs to anyone else.

Do not covet. Let's do that again. Commandment number 1. You shall have no other gods before me. Commandment number 2. Do not make for yourself an idol and bow down and worship it.

Commandment number three, remember your words. Do not misuse the name of the Lord your God. Commandment number four, stop.

Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy and stop, rest. Commandment number five, honour your father and mother. Yes, sir.

Commandment number six, do not murder. Commandment number seven. There are two people in a marriage, not five. Do not commit adultery. Commandment number eight.

Do not steal. In some countries they cut off your thumbs. In others they put you in prison. Commandment number nine. Four is not five.

Do not tell lies about anyone or anything. Do not give false testimony against your neighbour. Commandment number 10. Do not want anything that belongs to anyone else. Do not covet. Now, if you have trouble remembering all 10 of those, there's...

one easy way to remember what God says. In the New Testament, in Matthew chapter 23, God condensed all these rules into one simple rule. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself. God bless you.
