welcome to Red Dead Redemption 2 this is the dummy guide to installing mods so after this tutorial if you still can't mod your rdr2 there's just no hope for you so this will be a step-by-step guide that you'll be able to follow along with the video in order to add any mod that you want now keep in mind you won't be able to use online mode if you mod up your game so you either need to remove your mods or have a separate rdr2 game installation now we want to start off with a fresh copy of rdr2 so if you right click on the game in Steam and go to manage and then browse local files this will take you to your game installation directory if you've never messed with any of your game files it's okay to keep it but if you have configured some stuff or changed some things I recommend just deleting it and then just doing a fresh installation from your steam once you've done that you want to start back up your game and then we need to go into the options there's a few things we need to change in the settings so if we go over to Graphics most of this stuff is customizable to your PC specifically so whatever your PC can handle you you can go ahead and customize all of this stuff but the thing we need to change is the advanced Graphics you have to use Vulcan if not you're going to run into freaking crashes and it will just be a nightmare most mods only work with the Vulcan mode for rdr2 so just choose that and then once that's done we can install the requirements to start modding so one of the first things we want to do is download a program it's going to be called win raar there's other tools you can use for zip files so if you prefer something else you can go ahead and do that this is a free program so we're going to go ahead and download this we're going to download again if your download doesn't appear you can always click here and then save it in whatever folder that you want download should initiate right here in the top right hand corner and then you should find your download in your downloads folder we're going to go ahead and double click it and then go ahead and install it to your PC we can click okay through this and then done so you should have the zip program successfully installed and now we're going to install the requirements I'll leave all these links down in the description this is just from my previous modding video so we're going to go ahead and get Lenny's mod loader which will take us to an rdr2 mods.com website we're going to go ahead and click download this file and then we're going to get the latest version right now it's the LML RDR beta 11 if you don't get the latest version it's not going to work so you just wait a few seconds and your download should initiate and then you'll see it pop up in your downloads folder now to make this easier I'm going to do a split screen so I got my downloads on the right hand side and then if we go back into steam we're going to go ahead and right click on our R2 game go to manage and then browse local files this is our game directory so we have a freshly installed and freshly updated version of Red Dead Redemption if the files or mods you're downloading AR in a zipped format you can always rightclick and then once the menu pops up you can go with open with and then select WinRAR archiver if you don't see this option you can always choose another app and then from here you should be able to pick WinRAR once again so we're going to get this LML installed we're going to double click on this and I know you see this popup for buy win raar don't worry about this I've had this for years and never had to pay you just go ahead and close that out we're going to drag this window over here and we're going to go into the mod loader folder as you can see it says place all this in the game root folder the game root folder is this if you see the rdr2.exe file that means you're in the game rout folder so we're going to take all these files and just drag and drop it into the game root folder and you see all the files that are highlighted those are what you just dragged over we're going to go back and then we're going to take this mod manager folder and just drag it directly inside of our game root folder and then back in the game root folder we're going to go into the mod manager we're going to double click the mod manager. UI and then the program should show up so the first thing we need to do is find the game folder so if we click these three little dots right here we're going to navigate to where our game folder is saved if you don't know where it's at you can always go to your game rot folder press in the search bar so it's all highlighted and then you can hold control C and it'll copy the path you can then click on this search bar and then press crl +v and it'll paste that path press enter and this should be your game rote folder so we're just going to go back and then select our rdr2 game folder select that folder and then press this little save icon and as you can see we have an error one or more LML files could not be found this has been a common error that I know a lot of people have been having but it's a really simple fix we go back into mod loader there is a LML folder at the top so we forgot to put that in our game rout folder so we go ahead and take this folder place it in our game rout directory we'll go back into the mod manager and then open up the mod manager UI once again and then everything should be fixed already so now it recognizes that the game room folder has the LML folder uh which is for the LML mods so once we install some mods we'll see it in here now all mods will appear here when you install it it's just for the LML mods for rdr2 the mod manager is set up and ready to go go ahead and close this window and then we'll go ahead and install the script hook so we'll go to the script hook website and it will probably look something similar to this but from here we just need to scroll down and we'll see a download link right here we're going to click this download and then it will take us to the actual script hook page under the script Hook rdr2 released we going to click on script hook rdr2 if it takes you to a page with an ad just go back and reclick the link and then you should be on the actual download page we're going to click download next to the download button and your script hook should download we're going to now double click onto the zipped Archive of the script hook we're going to take the bin folder and then we're going to copy the script hook rdr2 dll and then the D we're going to make sure we're in the game rout which is the rdr2.exe and we're going to take these two files and drag it into the game rout directory you have the option of putting the native trainer in there as well but I like to use the Rampage trainer since it's more robust next up we're going to be downloading the online content unlocker which is a requirement for a bunch of mods as you can see from the list so once we're on the Nexus page we're going to go into the files tab and then click manual download you do not need a Nexus premium membership in order to download mods off of Nexus mods you just need to click the slow download to get the actual download for free so we're going to click download once again your download should initiate and then if we look at how to install this actually drop the LML folder into your rdr2 directory so we're going to double click on the online content unlocker zip we're going to take this LML folder and drag it directly into our game root folder the reason we do this is because we already have an LML folder inside the game route so if you click into the LML you'll see the online content unlocker folder in here and then if we click inside of this you'll see the same folder inside as well we can also double check in the mod manager so if we open up the UI again we'll now see that the online content unlocker has been installed successfully we'll also go ahead and get Rampage trainer up in here as well so we'll go ahead to the nex's mod page we'll go over into files and then we're going to use this first Rampage we'll do manual download and then download once again we'll double click in the Rampage zip and we're going to open up this first folder now this one is pretty simple we're going to take these two files and I'm selecting two files at a time by holding control as I left click we're going to make sure we're in our game rot directory and then we're going to drag these two files directly inside as you can see this is not in LML mod we're not dragging these files inside of the LML folder in our game route so since it's not an LML mod if we open up the mod manager again you won't see it in here that does not mean it's not installed it's just not in LML mod so these are the required mods you need as your basis for any rdr2 modding these are requirements for almost all the mods that you can find on Nexus so we want to make sure we can actually start up the game just to double check to make sure we installed it correctly so we'll go ahead and run rdr2 once you load up you should be greeted by a rampage welcome screen I just couldn't show it because John's booty cheeks were hanging out so let me get some cloth on this man's real quick we got outfit variation Perfect all right got John Maran outfitted up everything is working and twerking we got Rampage trainer that's working fine and then uh yeah the game booted up so we have LML installed correctly and then we have the script hook installed correctly this is the latest version of rdr2 so modding still works for this as long as you install it correctly and using the uh the latest that beta version 11 of LML if you use a uh a previous version of LML it's just not going to work cuz the mods aren't uh made for the older versions so once you know that this is ready to go and the mods or the uh the requisites prerequisites are installed you can go ahead and add some mods so we'll go ahead and add a few just to show you uh some different types of mods and how to add it in to your game so we're going to browse on the Nexus files just to see what we got and there has been a lot of mods that have been coming out lately so there's definitely a another uh showcase that's going to be uh coming out so we'll go ahead and try this Lost MC jacket this looks like it's just a replacer for the Gunslinger coat for Arthur so we'll go ahead and download this so we'll open up the Lost MC jacket this one is a stream file so most clothing it items most you got to read the mod page of course are in the Stream folder so if you go into the LML folder uh if you haven't downloaded a mod that has a stream folder already you're going to have to manually make one so you just go to new folder and then just name it stream and then we're going to take these two files and place it into that folder and that's for maybe 90% of the clothing items it just goes into the stream folder we'll go ahead and download this black and gold electric horse coat I think this may be another stream folder one let's go double check the instructions and how to install mod just drag and drop the files into LML folder so we'll open up the electric horse and then we'll go into the LML folder and we'll take this whole folder and place it inside of the LML folder want to go ahead and get an ASI file as well just because you install that in a kind of different way so we're going restored cut content quiver go into files go ahead and manually download and then for Asi files you should see the name and then ASI most of the time for these it just goes into the game rout directory so where your rdr2.exe is you just copy and paste that file inside of that folder now we'll check to see if these mods work so we'll reboot rdr2 all right so we are back in the game let's make sure we have uh everything that we need so we go ahead and switch over to Arthur Morgan with Rampage trainer real quick see model changer I'm going to force to Arthur here we go as you can see we have the jacket that MC jacket we just installed with it default outfit so the jacket's working in in the Stream folder make sure we're god mode so he's not uh tripping out right now all right and also we're going to spawn in a a white Arabian horse since uh that was the horse mod that we installed so we'll go ahead and find that let's go Arabian and then white we could have installed that one wrong let's see if there's any other of the horses that work nope so we may have installed that one wrong but with mods it's all about trial and error we can however let's see let's go add uh some weapons manage weapons we'll get all or make sure our uh ASI file uh works I have to get my regular horse actually my main horse if I can find my main horse where my main horse at hello oh there it is right behind me all right let's see let me get the quiver there we go yep so the ASI file that we installed is working since we have the uh that bow on our uh left hand side hopefully this tutorial helped this was a more in-depth uh tutorial showing you everything you need to know so this is the dummy Guy this is the dummy guy I I tried to break it down as simple as possible so hopefully you have better luck installing the mods
