Good morning, Nelson. Is anybody in the room love Yahweh this morning? Come on, we're going to lift up his holy name and his precious name. Hey. Come on, clap your hands like this.
Mighty warrior. Sovereign King, you win every battle, even in the shadows. Gentle Father, rich in love, you hold the orphans and double their portions. Pouring water, rushing wind, running like a fountain, moving every mountain. Great Jehovah, the architect, Alpha and Omega, Holy Wings.
Unto the great I am, I'm singing, I pray, it's your name. Unto the great I am, with everything I have, great I am. I'm singing how great is your name. Here we go.
One door that was broken, heavens were opened. Now resurrected and lifted high, risen Messiah. Glory in the highest. Whoa.
I see the great I am. Singing, put everything to the grain, I'm singing how great is your name. Unto the grain, I'm singing, I'm singing, it's your name.
It's your name. Stop giving you the glory, it's your day, this morning, so we sing, oh praise the pride of Judah, oh praise the Lamb once laid, Yahweh we love you, oh praise the rock of ages, oh praise the God who saves, Yahweh we love you. It's our salvation, Jesus the King of Kings Resurrection is at the state of Jesus We love you, we love you.
Holy fire, comforter, peace within the chaos. How you sustain us, you sustain us. Breath of heaven.
Within our lungs a new sound is stirring It sounds like How great is your name? Come on Nelson at this moment just take this moment and look up the name of Jesus, despite how you feel, despite what it looks like, God is greater than your circumstance. Hallelujah, Jesus. How great.
It's your name. I won't stop singing your name. How great is your name.
Jehovah Nisi, our banner. How great is your name. Jehovah Rapha, our healer.
How great is your name. You're great, you're great, you're great. How great is your name.
Hey, so we sing, oh praise the pride of Judah, oh praise the Lamb once slain, Yahweh, we love you, praise the rock of angels, praise the God who saves, Yahweh. It's our salvation, Jesus, the King of Kings. Yahweh is resurrection, your name is everything.
Yahweh, we won't stop chasing you, we won't stop pursuing your love. You're reckless love, you're reckless love, jeez We submit the mentions that didn't help you Jesus, I very love you. Worship. You are worship.
So unto the great I am, with everything I have. Unto the great I am, I'm singing how great is your name. Unto the great I am, with everything I have. Unto the great I am, I'm singing how great is your name. Come on, can we just tell him how great he is?
Thank you, Jesus. You are great and you are worthy to be praised. Jesus, come on, can we just tell him he's holy, he's worthy. Jesus, you are holy, holy, holy. We join with the angels when we say you are holy.
Jesus, Jesus. Love you, we love you. A thousand generations. Falling down in worship to sing the song of ages to the man.
And all who've gone before us and all who will believe will sing the song of ages to the man. Amen. Cause your name is the highest Your name is the greatest Your name, oh, it stands above them all All thrones and dominions All powers and positions Your name, oh, it stands above them all And the angels cry All thrones and dominions Creation cries, we cry, holy, you are lifted high, holy, given to us.
I've been redeemed to sing this song forever to the world. And if you want your freedom... We sing the song forever, to the land, the song forever, and the name is Christ. Christ in the highest, Christ in the highest.
To the Your name is the greatest. Your name, who stands above them all, is all grown and shed. It's your name. Cry, ocean cries, we cry, ocean cries To the king just cry Creation cries, they cry, holy. You are lifted high, forever.
Hear your people sing, Jesus. Hear your people sing, holy. To the King of Kings, holy, you will always be, holy forever.
Come on, sing it out to him. You will always be, you will always be, holy. Come on, He's worthy.
He's worthy. He will always be. He will always be.
Holy. Holy forever. Yes, you are Jesus, holy, holy, you will always be holy, holy forever. You will always be holy, holy forever. For you are holy, you're holy.
Are you Lord God Almighty? Worthy is the Lamb We sing worthy Listen, man, for you are holy, you're holy, are you Lord God Almighty? We seem worthy, we seem worthy, are you? Let's continue to worship the Lord right now.
I so appreciate the spirit of praise in this house. Let's just lift up the name of Jesus in our own words, in our own way. We lift you up, O God. We declare your greatness. You are worthy, Lord.
Worthy, worthy, worthy is our God. Worthy. receive glory, honor, and power. You, O God, are worthy.
You are worthy of our praise. We exalt you in this place today. We honor you.
We thank you, Lord. We thank you, Lord. We know the Lord.
He inhabits the praise of His people in a spirit like this where we are inviting Him to move. I can tell you this is a powerful time for us to engage in prayer according to His will, which is what we are about to do. It's also the kind of atmosphere where the Word of God...
God has preached in just a few moments, and I'm very excited about that. God is going to do something in your lives. This is the atmosphere in which God can move in a powerful way, and the Holy Spirit can do something in you that you may not even realize needs to happen.
but it can happen in a moment. And I just, I just thank you right now for going after God. As we transition here to the prayer time, we will be praying for the second day for the, you know, the war torn, just devastated country of Somalia.
What a, what a, what a, what a terrible, terrible place on earth right now. I didn't say the people were terrible, but I said, it's a place that, I mean, Satan has done everything he can to destroy that place. After we pray for Somalia, we're going to pray for Somalia.
We're going to pray for our very own Bruce Stamets, who experienced cardiac arrest over this last weekend. And he's in very serious condition. He needs our prayers.
At the conclusion of that prayer, we're going to record a video greeting for him. And just to encourage him, encourage Jan, his wife, and their family. Those of you who know Professor Stamets, he is an amazing brother, one of the most encouraging people I know.
He directs our criminal... criminal justice program. In fact, I would like to invite every CJ student in this room to come forward right now. And if you guys are going to move to the sides, I'd like them to be right here front and center because they're going to be standing for the prof that they love.
In a few moments when this video, when we, the video portion of this chapel that we will be sending to the family, I want to see, I want to know that the Stamets family sees these CJ students up here standing strong. And, uh, But as they come now and continue to come, even as I set up our prayer time for Somalia, we're going to begin that prayer. And then I want everyone to basically be in place when we begin the prayer for Professor Stamets. With 99.7% of the population in Somalia being Muslim, it's no surprise that there is an overwhelming negative prejudice against Christianity and against Christians.
And I... The prayer points that I would ask you to remember with me this morning are this. Pray that Christian-based aid and compassion ministries will be allowed to come in, even more so to help refugees, to help those that are hurting. And then pray that these demonstrations of God's love and the opportunity for the Somali people to actually encounter Christians for the first time, it would counter everything they've ever been taught. Because they've been taught to hate Christianity. And they've been taught to hate Christianity.
been taught that Christians hate them. And we need to pray that that is just flipped by the power of the Holy Spirit and that these acts of God's love through care, through compassion is going to create opportunities to share the gospel and that these people would be open to the gospel. So join me now as we pray and pray along with me as we pray for Somalia.
Father, we lift up the country of Somalia. We pray for an end to war, to all persecution. We pray for an openness to allow for compassion ministries so that not only the physical needs of people are met, but that these mercy ministries will result in people encountering the truth of your word.
And they would turn to the only savior that can give them eternal life. And we ask this in Jesus name, in Jesus name. Amen, amen, amen. And now we turn our attention to Professor Stamets.
As I mentioned, he is just such an inspiration on this campus. On Monday when I was there at Baylor, Big Baylor in downtown with Jan and one of his daughters, Bruce remained intubated, unconscious. They felt like, at the best hope, that...
Today, about two days, they would be able to remove that tube. And this is a big thing. There are a number of things that have to come together for that to happen.
This is a serious matter, students and colleagues. And we need God to supernaturally touch our brother. And you know what? We serve a God who is more than able to do that.
Amen? He can do it. Now, beside me this morning are Molly, Anna, and Jessa.
These are the CJ students who actually had the vision for this prayer time and this video greeting. And so I wanted you guys to be with me. Thanks for being here.
And thanks for all of you CJ students. So in a moment, we're going to all pray. And I want to tell you, when I begin that prayer, it will be perfectly fine if you drown me out. That your prayers are so loud and rock this place that even with this microphone, they can't hear what I'm saying.
I think that would be pretty powerful. And I'll talk more about what I just hope that Bruce, Jan, and the family experience when they see this video. But when I say amen, then I'm going to say, now Nelson family, now we're going to greet Professor Stamets. And I want you to turn toward the camera.
And the camera we're going to turn to is right directly behind us. So it's front and center here in the back. Now they're going to be catching angles from all the other cameras.
But we want to. We want to physically turn, face that camera right now, and then I'll give a one, two, three count, and on three, we're going to say, and we've got it on the screens, we've got the script on the screens. Let's get that up there right now if you can. Basically, three simple phrases. Professor Stamets, we are praying for you, Jan, and family.
Get well soon. Just as simple as that. Have we got it up there?
There we go. Okay. Professor Stamets, we are praying for you, Jan, and family. Get well soon.
And then at the conclusion of that prayer, I am asking that you give up a praise to God. You know, the Bible talks about shouting to God with the voice of triumph. I want you to lift up a praise to God with an expectation that God is going to victoriously work in our brother's life.
You say, well, What if God doesn't choose to heal him? You know, when the three Hebrew children stood and faced the fiery furnace, you know what they said? They said, even if God doesn't, I am going to give my God praise.
You know what? I personally believe God is going to lift our brother up. Do you agree with that?
Amen, amen. He's going to do that. So would you turn right now, face the, let's practice this right now. Turn, one, two, three.
Say it with me. Professor Stamets. We are praying for you, Jan and family. Get well soon, and then we're going to erupt in praise to the Lord. All right.
So I think we are ready to roll now. So let's expect God to move. And so you ready?
Today, the entire Nelson family joins in lifting up. Professor Stamets, we love you, my brother. And we are praying for you this morning.
I'm joined by criminal justice students beside me, all before me, and all of us are intentionally standing with you, standing for you in prayer that God is going to lift you up. So Nelson family, pray with me now. Heavenly Father, we lift our voices together on behalf of our dear friend, our colleague, our professor, Bruce Stamets. His body has undergone a terrible ordeal and he needs your supernatural touch and healing.
We are grateful for the excellent physicians using their God-given gifts to work with him to accelerate this healing. But your word directs us to bring our needs to you. So we look to you to do what the doctors cannot do. We ask that your healing touch will rest on Bruce this day and in the days ahead. And we pray that your arms of peace and comfort will surround Jan and the entire family in this difficult hour.
Thank you, O God, for your faithfulness, and thank you for hearing our prayers. Amen and amen, amen. Nelson family, let's turn right now and greet Professor Stamets on three.
One, two, three. Professor Stamets, we are praying for you, Jan, and family. Get well soon. Amen.
Praise be to God. Praise be to God. For your healing touch, O Lord.
Amen, amen. Thank you so much. That is going to be such an inspiration. I believe when Bruce is able to, is conscious, able to see that, when Jan and the family, it's going to send, it's going to send tingles down their spine.
I just really believe it's going to encourage them in such a powerful way. Thank you, ladies, for coming and joining in this prayer. And now, Maddie, would you come and give us, I believe, our announcements for the day. Well good morning everyone.
So I am Maddie, I am the SMA Marketing Manager and I have a couple announcements for you today. Thank you, thank you. All right, we have our clothing drive going on. I'm sure you've seen a big box in your dorm lobby at some point. Those boxes will be there until November 8th, so if you have clean clothes that you are willing to part with, so somebody in need can have them, please put them in that box and join us for our clothing drive coming later.
Next week is very exciting. It is World Outreach Week or WOW as we like to call it. And with that we have one of our biggest events, Missions Experience. So next Wednesday and Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m.
you can sign up to join a slot. Join us in the Schaefer Lobby through a walkthrough event where you can learn and interact with different cultures. So we hope to see you there and stay updated for more events. Now... We have a video for you, so take a look at our giving project video.
So this is the life of a college student. Picking my classes. Buying my books. Hanging out on the quad. Cheering at games.
Spending time with my friends. Eating too much dining hall food. And drinking obscene amounts of coffee.
Studying, maybe. Napping, a lot. Students like us will spend four years doing this. But what if we told you that there could be more?
That with a simple act, a child's life could be changed. How? By the same students who are walking the class and cheering at games.
Students like us are generous with their time, talent, and money. We are creative at facilitating fundraisers, raising awareness, and getting our friends, families, and campuses involved. It's these students that are coming together to express their compassion through a cause, to make this the very culture of their campus. We are the next generation of compassion leaders.
We are the forerunners in the fight against childhood hunger. We are doing this so that the trajectory of a child's life might be forever changed. We are living out the motto that every student needs one. Whether you're a student, a leader, or a campus pastor, we are excited for you to join us in this mission of hope.
What's up guys? I'm Jory, I'm the SMA treasurer. You probably know that by now. I've been up here a lot.
Thank you. I'm going to try to keep it brief for you guys because I want to get to this awesome message, but I need to talk about our giving project a little bit. This is the QR code. If you want to go and pull that up, you can. I'll be talking about it a little bit.
As you guys know, we are feeding children this year on our campus. There's children all around the world that are going without food every single day, and we're making an impact. And who remembers How that works, what are the numbers?
How much money is it to feed a kid for one month? $10. You guys are listening.
I love that. How much to feed a kid for one year? 40. 120. That's right. 10 times 12 is 120. 40 is close.
You're good. I appreciate the effort. And how many or how much is it to feed 100 kids for a year? $12,000. That's what we're trying to raise because We as a university can feed a hundred kids for a year.
I believe it. I know we can. We have a year to do it, or about a year to do it, and there's a lot more than a hundred of us.
If you had to go a whole year without food how that make you feel? Pretty sad. What if I told you their food is a whole lot cheaper than our food? So you can feed yourself and feed a child across the world.
If we can band together for this I think we can feed way more than that. But I just want to tell you guys a little bit about it real quick. The QR code is right there if you'd like to give, as well as that, we have our booth outside the chapel.
You can go there. Anything you buy at our booth, the proceeds go back to feeding the children. So it's always worthwhile.
And a special thing we have today, we have these cool Feed One bucket, or not bucket hats, trucker hats. I'll put it on for you. I'm not really a hat guy, so it might look a little silly on me. But these are at the booth today. We have 20 of these total.
The first 20 people who go to the booth and feed a kid for one month, which is how much? Ten dollars gets a free trucker hat. So if you guys are willing to band with us today and feed a child for a month, which is an amazing thing and something we should all do, you get a free hat. So head out to the booth after chapel, buy some cool t-shirts, hoodies, stickers, get a cool hat.
It's all over there. And how that works for the hats, you just walk through the line and you'll say, hey, buy whatever you want to buy or don't and say, I'm also donating for the hat. and they'll charge you $10 for that. Or if you want to give more for a hat, who's stopping you? We love to hear that.
All right, I'm going to hand it off to Ms. Renee now. We're going to do a quick video, and then I'll hand it off to Ms. Renee. Hey, guys, I'm in Tenan Cinco, El Salvador, and I'm having the privilege of being a part of the Feed One program in this church in Tenan Cinco.
I think it's called Iglesia Vive, but it's awesome. This is awesome. We actually learned how they cook it and make the food especially for nutrients, all the nutrients and all the cool things that the kids love here. Thanks for helping us with this giving project.
You are making a difference and actually serving the food. So cool. Y'all, that was last week! I just got back from El Salvador and last week I got to feed the kids. And it was really cool.
I know as you are giving in your offering and as you are setting aside that $10, I got to know the name of the kids that we're going to feed. You know, Ana Maria, that gets to have a nutritious meal because you were a part of it. So I just want to thank you. It's really cool to be a part of that. And I'm so, so excited that we get to connect with what God is doing all over the world.
And that's what our missions chapels are all about. I was so excited today about our mission speaker, our chapel speaker. We have a cool connection because actually he was a little kid on the island of the Dominican Republic when we first connected. And little did we know how God...
would put his hand on that that kid at church and then call him to the mission field. Him and his family are serving in a really small country in the Caribbean. But how many of y'all understand that God does big things in small places? Amen?
Right? He can work with the small things. And if you're sitting here today and you're thinking, I'm just from a small place, let's go.
or I just feel small, I want to remind you that God does big things in small places. And I know that our speaker is going to do that today. And even before chapel, we just sensed an anointing on what God is going to do in this service today.
So I want you to get ready. I mean, I want your hearts to be like this with your hands. What is God going to do today? Because I really expect it. I have that expectation today.
So will you join me in giving a Nelson University welcome to Billy, Pastor Billy. And the only voice that's coming through says you'll never measure up But there is one who knows the truth He put light inside of you He is peace, he is hope, he is Jesus Lift your eyes, raise your voice to the King of all creation. He is love, He is life, yeah, this is Jesus. Gather every nation like a billion streams of life.
Every heart, every soul can feel and reach us. This is Jesus. Raise your voice to the King of all creation.
He is love, He is life, yeah, this is Jesus. There's a revelation like a million streams of... He is peace through the pain. He is freedom from chains.
He is healing and hope. This is Jesus. Amen, amen.
Good morning, good morning. Nelson University, how are you guys doing today? Are you ready for what God has for you? Amen. Only a few.
Amen. We're going to get there. Well, my name is Billy Roman and I pastor New Life Assembly of God in Antigua in Barbuda. It's a small island in the Caribbean. I want to tell you, me and my family, we've been serving in there for the past eight to nine years now.
We planted the very first Assemblies of God church in that nation. And right now we're building one of the first youth center there for the nation. It's really incredible what God is doing in Antigua.
We come from, my wife, she was born here. I was born, a lot of people, they... You know, from the moment they hear me talk, they're like, okay, where are you from, you know?
And I tell them right away, I am from heaven. Because I don't even can describe where am I from sometimes. So, for you to understand what I'm saying, I was born in the Dominican Republic.
My dad was born in England. His parents were Jamaicans. I grew up in Curacao, then came to New Jersey.
I don't know where I am from. So, ¿dónde están los latinos? ¿Algunos latinos aquí?
Amen. Dios le bendiga. Que bendicion. What an honor. And so, so we're serving in there, in the nation, very small nation, but yeah, very powerful.
What God is doing is incredible. God has been opening doors for us. We've been reaching out.
Our, our unreached people group are the young people. They're, you know, from ages all the way from 10 and little kids all the way to young adults where we've been reaching and for Jesus because there's nothing for them in the nation of Antigua. There's a lot of things are happening right now. The government put a curfew on them because the crime is rising.
But we believe that God is going and is doing some great things. And one of those things is that the government of Antigua right now, I had a meeting with some of the leaders and they reached out to me and they're like, we know what you're doing is going to impact the nation. So because of that. We want to give you the opportunity for you to go to all the public schools in the nation and preach the gospel to every one of them and share about Jesus. And I'm telling you, that is huge.
When the government is reaching out to you for help, that is a miracle. I always believe whenever God opens a door, there is no time for us to stand in the hallway. It's time for us to believe God and trust him what he's going to do and what he will do.
Amen. At the back, I have my booth over there, too. I have my prayer car for you guys to take one and pray for us, you know, and beyond praying for us.
If you want it, you can support us to adopt a family. You can adopt our family, you know, very simple. You can scan, you know, the barcode here and you can give, you know, to our family or support us monthly.
It could only be like $10, $5. It doesn't matter what it is. $100 million. It doesn't matter. But whatever God puts in your heart, you want to support our family. But you can say today, I'm going to just give up maybe my Chick-fil-A for one day and just give up, you know, to the Roman family.
Please, we will give you at the end a prayer card and you can take one at the same time. I want to use some of the time, you know, for what God has for us today as we speak. So, I would love for you to go with me, hallelujah, to where I'm going to be speaking. Today's title would be, Today Determines Tomorrow.
Can you tell somebody behind you, Today Determines Tomorrow? Amen, hallelujah. Most of us know about the story about the Israelites when they went to the Promised Land.
And how they went and all the things that took place before that. But I want to talk to you about the 12 spies that Moses, he sent to them, to the promised land. And so they were supposed to bring back a report.
You know, sometimes every time we go to the mission field, we want to bring back a report. So people know what happened. What is it?
What's going on? What is it that we're doing in the mission field? And this is what's happening in here.
The 12 spies are returning back and we're going to be reading from the book of Numbers, chapter 13, verse 27 to 33. So we're going to start reading. And it says, hallelujah, it says, this was their report to Moses. This is them reporting back the 12 spies to Moses.
It says, we enter the land you send us to explore. And it is indeed a beautiful, a bountiful country, a land flowing. with milk and honey.
Hallelujah. Here is the kind of fruit it produces, but the people living there are powerful, and their towns are large and fortified. Hallelujah. We even saw giants there, the descendants of Anak. The Amalekites live in the Negev, and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, and all the termites live in the hill country.
The Canaanites live along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. and along the Jordan Valley. But Caleb tried to quiet the people as they stood before Moses.
Let's go at once to take the land. He said, we can certainly conquer it. But the other men who have explored the land with him disagree.
We can't go up against them. They are stronger than we are. So they spread this bad report. hallelujah this bad report about the land among the israelites the land we travel through and explore will devour anyone who goes and live there all the people we saw are huge they were huge we saw we even saw giants there the descendants of anak next to them we felt like grasshopper grasshoppers and that was their thought too hallelujah father i pray I pray today for a revelation over every student here. And I pray that your Holy Spirit will be the one speaking in Jesus' name.
Amen and amen. The first thing I want to talk to you is that, as you know, most of us, when we go somewhere, we want to share what God is doing. And it looks in here that there is a conflict between two different groups.
You see right here how ten of the spies are saying, you know, It's a beautiful country. It's a bountiful country. It's amazing, but yeah, I don't think we can go there, you know, and there is two that are saying it is an incredible country.
We were there too as well, and I think we can take them, you know, and so you can see right here how their attitude is changing, even though God was with them. This is the first scene. My first point on this is that your attitude determines your altitude.
Your attitude determines your altitude. You know, their attitude towards what God already promised them was the thing that was stopping them to see the miracles and the great power of God through them. It was their attitude of those 10 spies. Actually, they started actually looking to add more people to their belief, meaning they spread a bad report, you know, about what they saw there.
to the other people. And so because of that, the entire, you know, all the people of Israel, most of them, I would say close to a million, the Bible said they were believing that bad report. And because of that, you know, they were not able to make it to the promised land. So think about it.
Your attitude towards what you are doing will determine whether you're going to do something great or not. So basically. Change your attitude and you will change your altitude.
Change the way you think about something because you may look at it from the perspective that, well, this is difficult, this is impossible, but you have to remember you serve a powerful and great God. Nothing is impossible for him. So here is Caleb, here is Joshua speaking.
And Caleb had to quiet the people, had to say, be quiet everybody, because we believe that we can take it. We believe that we can go there. We can make a difference. We can change the life of the people over there. And as you can see, they started talking and saying, it is impossible.
There are giants over there. There is this over there. We look like grasshoppers.
We cannot make it. It is not possible. We're so little before them.
And that's what they believe. You see, your belief has a lot to do in what's coming next, what's going to happen next into your life. If you believe you're not going to make it this year, well, that's exactly what you're going to see, you know.
And then when you see it, don't complain about, oh, I didn't make it this year. Well, you're spoken to what you believe. This is exactly what you're saying, you know.
And God has said, we got to believe him. We got to trust him because he is the one that will go before us. This is the second thing about this. Second thing about this is that when we go to Numbers 14, so let's read Numbers 14. It says that, verse 5, Then Moses and Aaron, he fell down on the ground before the whole community of Israel. Two of the men who had explored the land, Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, tore their clothings, hallelujah.
They said to all the people of Israel, The land we traveled through, And explorer, it is a wonderful land. Here is the different talk. Somebody that is speaking negative all the time and say, yeah, it's a great place.
Yeah, it's an awesome place. But we're not capable to do that. It's not possible.
You know, is this thing in our mind? Oh, I want to do this, but I'm not good speaking. I'm not good doing this.
I don't think we can go. I can go to a mission trip. Oh, I don't think I can actually, you know.
that we can raise the amount of money that we need to this you see this is the part that for us we got to understand when God um God wants us to believe him not to just say something but to also believe him and trust him and so God didn't tell them to go there and bring a report basically for them to say maybe we should go or not God already told them it's your place go and take it there is a difference between that And people that say, well, this is, I'm just going to go there and I'm just going to be there. Maybe if I can, if I can make it. No, God told you it is yours.
Go and take it. You have to believe regardless of what is, you know, whatever is in front of you. Because God goes before you.
And look at what it says. And this is what they say. In the land we travel through and explore, it's a wonderful land. And if the Lord is pleased with us, we will bring us. say he will bring us safely into that land and give us and give it to us it is a rich land flowing with milk and honey do not rebel against the lord and do don't be afraid of the people of the land this was the number one thing that they actually uh did fear god into their heart fear god into their lives you know um most of us Whenever we see something that is complicated, that is difficult, whenever we go through something, we automatically, you know, fear comes into our heart.
And God said, fear not. If you notice something, every time an angel appear to any one of his people, the first thing he said, fear not. You know why? Because fear has always been there and God wants you to not to fear, but to trust that he can do it.
You see, they were... About to conquer something much bigger than what they thought that they could do, but yet they were afraid. I don't know how many of you remember the names of the ten spies. You know why you don't remember them?
Because they are forgotten. They didn't believe. They didn't trust God. The only people you will remember are Joshua and Caleb.
Why? Because those two guys, they believe God, they trust God, and they say, our dependency is not on us, but it's on God. We depend on God.
This is the number two that I want to talk to you. It's don't let fear become greater than your faith. Don't let, oh, because I don't have the money.
I don't have the resources. I don't have this. I can't do this. I can't do that. This I can't do.
In God's language, it doesn't work. Because God is able to do it literally in ways that no one, no one has ever been, basically ever think. Because God has ways to do things beyond what you can even imagine. He says, my ways are not your ways. In another way, what God is saying, I have ways to do miracles, to do things that has never been heard of, has never been.
crossing through the mind of any human has never been done ever i have ways to do miracles ways to provide way to open doors way to do things that nobody nobody ever know this is the god that we serve you know one time There was a time where a lot of pastors, a lot of preachers, they came together and they were praying for rain. They were believing God for rain. And all the different pastors from different, you know, nations, they came together.
That, you know, the Presbyterian pastor, he went into the same platform and he stood because there was no rain in that nation. And he prayed, he said, Lord, send the rain. And no rain.
Then, you know, the Catholic priest, he went there and said, I'm going to pray. And he did all his stuff. And he's like, Lord, send the rain. And nothing happened. Then the Pentecostal pastor, he was there.
He's like, Lord, send the fire. Send the rain. And nothing happened. And then all of a sudden, there's a little kid just dragging an umbrella. He's just walking into the same place.
He dragged his umbrella. He opens the umbrella. And he said.
Lord send the rain and the rain came down all the pastors were like not happy they were furious they were like how is that possible I pray I'm a pastor and God didn't hear my prayer how he did he you know listen to the little kid and they went to the little kid and they asked him um how is it that God responded to you and not to me and his answer was do you bring an umbrella you You know, this is the thing. Are you ready for what God is going to do? Do you have, hallelujah, because a lot of time we ask God for something, but we don't really believe it. We don't trust that he's going to do it.
We say a lot of things. I believe that God is going to take me from here to there. Do you really believe it? Because if you don't believe it, this is what happened with the Israelites. There were two that believed God.
And in this time you can see that this is one of the first occasions where my jury is wrong. think about it two against ten and ten we're saying we cannot go there two we're saying yes we can we can do it our god is with us and the other ten is like look everybody don't believe those guys we are majority here you should believe us this is the moment when god said majority is wrong you You see, your belief has a lot to do with what God is going to do next. You know, stop believing that you're not able to accomplish great things because the God that you serve, He goes before you and He's going to open doors that no one can come through. close you see one time um a pastor said to me you know the youth are the future the youth are the future and i say yes the youth are the future one time i then i was praying the holy spirit said to me the youth yes are the future but the youth are the present if you don't invest in them now if you don't invest in the kids now you will never see a future in those kids it's about what is it that you're doing hallelujah to change the you know what God has given you right now and so fear is the number one problem you know fear will paralyze you to move forward you Most of us focus on our past and whatever has happened to us and God said it's time for you to move forward.
It's time for you to move forward. Your obedience today will open doors tomorrow. Your obedience today will open doors tomorrow. Whatever you do today, whatever you determine today, Joshua said me and my house we serve the Lord. Are you going to make a decision today and say, you know, I'm going to stop doing what I've been doing that is not pleasing God and I'm going to really follow God.
You see, a lot of us are actually stopping yourself, you know, to see what God has for you because you have not made a decision to really follow him wholeheartedly. And God is saying, I want you to, I want you to trust me in this. And look at this.
I'm going to read this Isaiah 43. Look at what it says. But you are my witnesses, O Israel, says the Lord. You are my servant. hallelujah you have been chosen to know me number one believe in me number two and to understand that i alone am god this is the power of god this is god saying i want to show you how great i am there is no other god there never has been and there never will be I, yes, I am the Lord and there is no other savior. First, I predicted your rescue.
Then I save you and proclaim it to the world. So God is not quiet about things. He's very vocal.
He's very, he want to let everybody know I save you. I change your life. But yeah, I want to use you. I want to let everybody knows what I have done in this place. You see, most of us, we go through a lot of stuff and we're like, oh, I'm going through tough stuff.
But yeah, we all got to go through tough stuff. But I want to give you this. Pain is the fertilizer of growth.
You see, you want to run from it, but God is putting fertilizer in your life because pain is the fertilizer of growth. He wants you to grow as you go through it. You see, you're not going to stay there. And God is saying, look at what God is saying, proclaiming to the world, no foreign God has ever done this. This is reminding the Israelites that it's God that is with them.
You are my witnesses, that I am the only God, says the Lord. From eternity to eternity, I am God. No one can snatch anyone out of my hands. You see the professor that we were praying? No one can snatch him out of his hands.
You see, no one, and look at what he said, no one can undo what I have done. No one. A lot of people will tell you, you know, oh, this is not going to work.
This is this and that and all this kind of stuff. But no one can undo what God has done. The miracle that God has done, no one can undo it.
You see, we don't live by, you know, convenience. We live by conviction. There's a lot of time, oh, this is convenience to me, then I want to just use it. But we have to live by conviction. They were convinced that God was with them.
Hallelujah. And I want to close with this one. This is another point.
Number three, believe God and not the opinions of the people. See, there's a lot of opinions around you that's telling you, you know, what decision to make, what to do. But God wants you to believe him. What is it that he has said about you? What is it that he told you what to do?
And most of us, we don't ask God. You see, we go our lives and we're like, I don't even know. But we have to ask God.
We have to ask him. Hallelujah. And this is the thing. Because of my servant, Caleb has a different spirit and follow me. wholeheartedly i will bring him into the land this is what he said wow i will bring him into the land he went to his descendants were here in another word one thing that is so key is do not don't let the pain of your past become the prison of your tomorrow don't let whatever happens to you become what is stopping you To do great things for God.
Don't let anybody say to you that it's not worth it. What you went through is, you know, God can use that to do something great. God can use your testimony to do that.
So I just want to close with this. Hallelujah. I just want to pray.
Father, I just thank you, Lord. I thank you for the students in here. I pray, Holy Spirit, that you will just empower them. You will use them for your glory.
I give you thanks for them. I pray, Father, hallelujah. I know we're out of the time, but if you feel coming to the altar, hallelujah. And bring into God and say, God, my pain from my past is not going to stop me to do what you want me to do.
Father, I just pray that you would just infuse your faith, Father, faith in the students in here. To believe that you are able to do great things. That there is nothing impossible for you. And that you're there for them. I give you praise and I thank you, Lord.
In Jesus' name, amen. And amen. Thank you. Hallelujah. Man, I believe there are so many great truths in that message today, right, Connor?
And I know that God is speaking to hearts. And the one thing I kind of held on to that really hit me, maybe it hit you too, I love how messages do that. There's those things that God speaks directly to you.
But one thing that Pastor Billy said today that I thought about is like, your obedience today will open doors for tomorrow. And I just had to think like, what? about today? What little thing can I be obedient in today that might open a door for tomorrow?
I want you to think about that as you go through your day. Keep your eyes wide open and your ears open to hear the Holy Spirit. What could happen today that you say yes to that will open doors for your tomorrow? Amen.
Amen. So Connor's up with me today. As we finish out this service, Connor, we're getting ready for homecoming, aren't we? Okay, so how can we get ready for homecoming?
Tell us what we can do. Hey, guys. So homecoming is this Saturday. And with that comes the prom, not the prom, sorry, the homecoming king and queen nominees.
And with that, can we please get the QR code? There we go. It'll be up to things. So you have now time now to scan it. Votes will be closing at noon, but you also have the link to vote in your email.
So be aware of that and it'll be closing very soon. You're going to need to know your nominees first to do that though. So we are going to be watching a video in just a second, explaining all of the, I know it's an immediate heavy chapel, please forgive us for just a second, but you'll be watching that video for a second.
But before we do that, just quickly want to say the harvest is plenty, but there we go. Enjoy the video. After the video, you are dismissed.
Hi, my name is Eva Thomas. My major is intercultural studies. Currently, I am the SMA president, and I've loved being an SMA my whole time at Nelson. If I had a million dollars, I would buy a...
Really good cup of coffee and then pay off my school bill. Hey guys, I'm Jory. I am a Humanitarian Relief and Development major. I'm a senior here at Nelson and I'm the SMA treasurer. My favorite class was probably Pentecostal Doctrine with Dr. Diane Langston.
I say that just because his voice is amazing and I feel like he'd do the best impression on campus. Glory to God! Hello, my name is Emma Anderson.
I am a senior social work major here at Nelson. I am the current off-campus RA here and I have been a Gwines RA the past two years. I just really love getting to be a part of the community and serve the students as I can. My favorite place of fellowship on campus is the Gwines Lobby. It is the best lobby on campus out of all the dorms.
And I've just met so many people there, had so many great times, and it's one of my favorite places to hang out. My name is Drew Stomfrud. I am a senior. I'm majoring in church leadership, and I'm RA in bridges. Man, if I had a million dollars, I would first give the church my 10% of that money.
And second, I would pay off my debt because my debt is very deep right now. So, you know, pay that off. And thirdly, I would actually get Arkansas football season tickets.
Hi, my name is Sage. I'm a business management major and I'm a part of Nelson Worship. My biggest success here at Nelson has to be the Lord truly showing me my identity in him.
And I think a lighter answer would be I found my future husband. So. My name is James Lautzenheiser and I am the head RA of Teeter. I am a business administration major.
My role model is, it would have to be, shout out to Pastor Caleb. He was the old Teeter dorm pastor and I loved him to death. He lived a God-centered life and that's exactly what I want to, you know, strive to be and just live like he did. He had wisdom and experience in a lot of things and he taught me more in life than I have in the rest of all. of my life so in like one year so I'm Harmony Fredericks I'm a senior here on campus I'm a church leadership major and you might have seen me doing some worship stuff yeah one thing that I would want to change about this world and why I would want to make sure that everybody has access to Jesus which I know is such like oh she's a church leadership major answer but for real like everybody would be able to know who he is and yeah so why because that's the answer to life and that's important so Hendricks, church leadership major specialization in youth ministries, and then I'm a Bridges fourth floor RA.
My biggest role model would have to be my mom. She's my biggest encourager, biggest supporter, and I really look up to her a lot. She means a lot to me.
Awesome. So as you're voting, before you're leaving, if you would like to talk to Pastor Billy, he would love to pray with you, eat with you at lunch. And we're also selling merch in the back.
