[Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Yes. Yes. Does that song get old? I don't think so. Just every day for 80 days. What's up everyone? Talking to people in the chat. Hopefully everything's going well. Uh, welcome to unit 3 and unit 4 review. Tonight, you know the deal. I set you up last night as to how things work. Tonight it's all about 1450 to 1750, right? It's about the period 1450 to 1750. The College Board breaks it in half into two, but I'm going to do I'm going to give you unit three. I'm going to give you unit four and we're going to go with that. How does that sound? Is that exciting? Does that Does that make you get extra credit or whatever you guys are talking about? Uh chompa rice or whatever is going on about how cooked you are. Cool. All right. So, welcome aboard. Uh I'm going to run you through it. Let me uh add a little helper in here. Hey, there you go. So, if you're looking for what I'm doing tonight, this I'm learning the pointing. This is uh the slideshow. It is available for you in the comments below on YouTube. So, if you want to do that, use it. If not, fine. Whatever. I don't care. Just made these just for you. Just breaking my heart over here. So, that's fine, too. Ah. Ah. Bam. Okay. So, I'm going to walk you through it. Unit three, unit four, are you ready? Unit three, unit four are warning, warning, warning, warning, warning. Unit three and unit four are the first two big units. These are the big boys. Hold on. Mr. Thomas has a sixth period class. Dude, that's impressive. I also have a sixth period class today. I had a kid get a concussion today because he fell out of his chair. Mr. Thomas, is your sixth period like my sixth period? He means well. He means well. I promise. So, I'm going to walk you through unit three right here. Sorry, I just got a shout out thing on there, so I figured Mr. Thomas seems like a safe name to say. Mr. Thomas, keep doing what you're doing. Congratulations. Um, but if you hear any weird noises tonight before we jump into unit three, uh, my dog is right here. Well, I guess technically right here. I have a giant Bernadoodle. She's an 80 lb monster uh, named Penny. So, if Penny like if you see things shaking and me having to get up and chase her, that's what's going on. It's not an earthquake here in lovely ah dog reveal. Ooh, Penny. Penny, come here. Come here. Come on. Come on. Come here, baby. Come. Come here. Dog reveal. I told you she is huge. This is Penny. She's a very good girl. She loves unit three. She loves unit 3. She loves the land-based empires. Don't you, Penny? God, you're so Get up. Oh, I warned you. All right, dog reveal over. Sorry. Uh, that's Penny. She's just everything. Okay, so I'm going to run you through unit three and unit four. These are the big ones. These are the big ones. Just like Penny's a big dog, this is a big unit, which means unit 3, four, five, and six. Sorry, Penny. Are the ones that count the most for you. So, um, study them the most, I guess. Do not eat the cat, Penny. You have no idea how close this was to just going off. So, um, don't bark at me, Penny. Hey, sorry. All right. So, I'll walk you through. Uh, again, this is on here if you want to go back and look it over. This is us tonight. You are currently sitting in units three and four. I thought I updated this slide to have something on it. It is not there. All right. So, 80-day countdown. Hopefully, you're following the countdown. If that's working for you, great. Keep doing it. Go back. They're short videos that can help you out. Also love my ultimate review packet. All the ultimate review packet people, I love you all. You're all super awesome. Um, this has more detailed stuff. If you wonder where my unit review videos end, it ends with four. Where are the other ones? They're in there. Plus a full practice test in the exam simulator. It looks exactly almost exactly like the College Boards uh exam. So, if you want to get in there and try that, I got uh you'll see some plugs for that throughout. So, heads up there. Also, the exam slayer. If you want to get in, do the ultimate exam slayer, then get in there and do it's free, 100% free. I didn't finish it. I mentioned this last night. Get in there. It's got practice tests. It's got vocab lists. All the stuff you need, all the stuff you need to survive. So, periodization again. We are here on unit three and unit four. These are the same time just like last night. Unit one and two happen the same time. We're now 1450 to 1750. So, here we go. Starting in with unit three. Oh, we That's a monumental architecture. Unit 3 is interesting in the I mean history is interesting but unit 3 is interesting in the fact that um what they want you to know is kind of specific so I'm going to take you through it like if you're just walking into this test and you don't know anything about AP you know world history you don't know AP world history you may not know these things you may not know these specifics that the college board wants you to know so I'm going to walk you through it uh I'm going to walk you through it for that exact purpose all right so unit 3 also the shortest section 31 3233 so Um, those are the ones that we'll cover. And again, they want you to look at certain empires, but they want you to look at certain empires through these lenses over here through how did they expand? How did they run their empire? And belief systems kind of loosely ties in. So, we'll go with that. So, there's a map. The all these maps I make cover everything that's either explicitly or implicitly uh mentioned by the college board themselves. So, uh I I'll keep it under an hour tonight, I promise. And then if there's Q&A, I can do that unless Penny knocks everything down. If this just goes dark, I've either been murdered or Penny took over. One of those two. So, um, sorry, I just saw that question on the side. Uh, there's a couple main empires to know in here, but these are just ones that are either mentioned like know this empire, like the Sappovitz, know the Safit. Uh, but they also mention the Aztecs, the Mexico in an illustrative example. They also do that with the Inca. They also do that with Russia. So, like I put them on here because I make maps and I don't know what you're if you even use this or look at them. Do not forget about your mom's. Mother's Day is coming up. Do not forget about your moms. These are the four empires that they make. You know, I just came up with this acronym because I thought it was funny and then I just made a map because I kind of already had one. So, uh, here are the four that they specifically say. You'll see this again in a second, but uh, the Manchus in China. Got to know them. Ottomans, College Board's boyfriend. They're mentioned by the College Board more than any other uh, thing more than the British, more than more than the French. Um uh the Mughals crucial like I say this in my class and everyone rolls their eyes and doesn't pay attention but uh India if you just know the history of India you probably get a five on this exam like India is all people are like oh everything's China if you it's a lot of India too so I mean if you and not that you have to but if you needed to use them as examples for things you absolutely could so keep that in mind um as well uh as you go through these are the big four and what did I leave out uh savvids savage are really known for one thing. They kind of only come up one time. So, here we go. Here, she just left. All right. So, here are the blue boxes. The infamous blue boxes. These are the things you actually have to know. The college board can only ask you these things. But again, super vague. So, 3.1 is really breaking down unit 3 into three big ideas. Number one, the most important thing in unit 3 is where did these empires come from? Gunpowder. They come from the gunpowder empires or sorry they they are they're known as the gunpowder empires. Also, let's be fair, British Empire, Spanish Empire, French, there are everything. The American Empire is a gunpowder empire. Like we're not out there shooting arrows anymore, right? So these empires are are going to rise up based on their ability to master the art of gunpowder. uh specifically Babbor in India was a he literally got the Ottoman gun master gunsmiths gun masters from the Ottoman Empire after he heard that they had taken over uh in Constantinople. They're like go get those guys and bring them to me. I need to know how to fight with those weapons. And so knowing gunpowder technology is really going to be crucial that some guy from Usbekiststan took over India. Like that's kind of a big deal, right? How gunpowder. How did the random Turks that wandered in the what? Osmanly Turks, the Ottoman Turks, how did how did they take down Rome? Gunpowder. They knocked that wall down. It took them a while, but they knocked that wall down. So, uh, no gunpowder. And so, right away, no gunpowder. So, for all of them, any of them, like, and the ones that don't have it are going to lose. So, like the Inca don't have it. The Aztecs don't have it, the Seanghai don't have it. Where are they right now? Right? Not that these empires are still, but you see what I'm saying? Like, they're going to lose. like uh this the song high I did a a crossover on my 10th anniversary spectacular with um your hero uh you may uh know the Himler guy Mr. Heimler and uh we did kind of a back and forth uh Songhai versus Morocco. The reason Morocco wins Morocco has gunpowder. So that's a couple examples of gunpowder. So no gunpowder. Then they flat out tell you like the rest of this unit is going to be very vague. The rest of unit three is very vague right here. They're like Manchus, Mughals, Ottomans, Sapphovits. Boom. Those are the big four. If you know, and again, you can acronym them as moms or whatever. If you know those big four, congratulations, right? Congratulations. Um, that's kind of it. So, for everything going forward, know it for those four. If you know it for those, I made a whole video on this. If you go back on my channel, I don't know, a year or so ago about like how you're doing unit three wrong. You really need to just kind of know certain thing like these five, like five or six things about the four empires. Go back and check that out. Again, I'm reviewing. I'm not teaching you. So, uh, and then at the bottom they start running into each other and they have rivalries and those are the two they mentioned. I kind of mentioned Songhai verse Morocco as one um in my class and for reasons that will become evident in like six minutes everyone who's checking your watch uh will be uh the what is it Ottoman Sapphit. Why? Because that religious dispute shows up at the end of this unit. So again, you need to start making uh I made I was in the middle of making a series of videos that I didn't finish, but I'll do for next year, which you won't care. Uh called the most valuable thing for each unit. Like things where you if you know this one thing, it'll help you in multiple places, not just in one. Not just like um uh Caravan Sarai, better know that for unit two, but things like um I mean gunpowder can help you out a lot. Um or uh specifically uh if you know Ottoman Sapphovit's fighting that helps you in 3.1 and 3.3. If you know Mali uh the empire of Molly that helps you in unit one and unit two. So I mean you could learn two things if you have the brain capacity to learn all these historical things sophomores in high school then do it. But if not you know why not do why not invest well in your brain. So that's 3-1 guns. These four empires as I'm giving you the air guns and then um they fought each other. Cool. Good. Your expert has this been on the AP exam. Someone last night I think it was me postulated. Why? What if I went and put the answers on these? So I did. I went and put the answers on these examples. If you're if you're scrolling this with me, uh you can scroll ahead. I didn't do it for the LEQs. LQs have a long have a long like uh you know context thesis uh evidence that kind of so I didn't put that on here for the LEQ samples I didn't but this was an LQ two years ago uh talking about Ottomans Mughals Sapphavids and how do they consolidate or expand power did that sound as cool as I hoped it would uh so if you know gunpowder you're probably pretty good uh it's okay if your teacher didn't say Morocco like I didn't say Morocco in class is just an example I I mean, there's so many examples. You just they want you to have the big idea and then be able to fill in like, well, I know a thing like that. I know this, this fits there, that fits there. So, uh, for this one, I would have gone gunpowder crazy here. I'd have been talking about Constantinople, all kinds of stuff. So, I gifted, please. Oh, I don't have the gifted thing up. Oh my goodness. There's other people here. I already said Mr. Thomas, period 6. I said it a minute ago. Uh, Dr. Reagan, your teacher's a doctor. Damn, you're lucky. That's That's super. I only have a master's degree. I'm not like doctors like so Dr. Reagan third period. I have third period planning. It's lovely. It's lovely. I highly recommend it's our lunch period, too. So, Dr. Reagan, be nice to your third period and give them all of the things that they require. So, um, no one can guess the DBQ. So, it's all just fun. It's fun to do. I'm thinking it's I'll actually show you where I think it is here in a second. So, uh, it's coming up. So for this LQ, yes, this shows up a lot. So unit 3 shows up a lot because it's kind of the first big unit thing. The first um when I say big unit, meaning it could be 12 to 15% somewhere in there of the exam itself can be on unit 3. So don't be like, oh yeah, gunpowder, moving on. No, don't. Like this is one to know. Like unit 4 is probably stuff you've heard of before. You didn't know what a safet was before you walked into this class. And for all the all my Persian people out there, okay, you knew you knew. No one else did. No one else did. Um, so, whoops. Oh, I'm on the wrong thing. Okay, so yeah, it has shown up before. Again, I didn't put them on there. Uh, this is a map I made a while ago just showing you some um some heavy hitters of this period. Kind of kind of the big if, if you will, the greats of each place. So, Akbar the Great, which of course means Akbar, Akbar, Sha, Sullean, uh, Peter the Great. I mean, you could say Louis the 14th, that's a land-based empire. He took over a big chunk of of Western Europe anyway. So, all of those are good. Uh, Tokugawa was a land-based empire. Who is this? Oh, I keep someone going every day. Mr. Martinez, is that you? Miguel, I love the aliteration. Do Do people call you Eminem? They should. Or shouldn't. Is that an old thing? 45. So, um, anyway, thank you. You just giving me It's not a lot. $10 is a lot. They're giving me money. I love that. I should donate it to Starbucks tomorrow. So, you don't have to know those people, but they are there. Uh, whoa. What is happening there? I don't understand that at all. Oh, that's right. I I fixed this. This was a bad uh screenshot, so I fixed it. All right. So, gunpowder, know these empires uh and know that they fought. All right. Here's where you get specific in unit 3. I know unit 3 doesn't have a ton of specifics, but these are the specifics in unit 3. Uh up people, somebody asked last night, use your mouse. All right. I moved too quick. This is what I'm talking about. Sorry, I'm forget. I'm new here. I've only been doing this a couple years, so I'll get there. So, up here, I'm talking about up here, historical developments in the blue box, new bureaucratic elites. Who are the people in the government and how do they get them there? Uh, my goto, and they even have it right here for you, is the dev sher. Dev Shure, classic. If you're like, "What the hell is a dev sher?" Janiseries. You don't know what janiseries are? That's a big one. You should have not slept that day. That was a big one. Uh they it's when the Ottomans um the to get around the nobility to get around all the people around the Sultan which is way cooler to say Sultan just say it right now right Sultan it has power gravitas. So to get around the Sultan uh for the Sultan to get around like people who have like you know that like Julius Caesar mentality like not Julius Caesar but like maybe I could be the emperor I could take over. You go get and recruit an entirely new group of people. So, uh, uh, you get children. It literally means the gathering. Like you're you're gathering people up for things. Garcia. Ah, Miss Swaggler. I actually know you. That's cool. Half the time I just say that. Miss Swaggler's awesome. Thank you so much. Oh, you're super cool. Oh, I think you messaged me and I didn't respond. This is me responding. I'll respond later. Sorry. It was about like, could she help out with this? And then I was like, "Oh, I'll resp" and I never did. Sorry. Uh, thank you, Miss Waggler. You are legendary. As is Miguel Martinez, obviously. Uh, and who else was here? Just Miguel Mart and Rod. Is your friend Rod? Don't know. That's hard to translate. Don't know. Don't know. So, um, you go to South, you go to, uh, uh, Eastern Europe, you get Christian. It's it's a blood text. It's a literal blood text. Back to the Dev Sherman. Mrs. Swaggler is not involved in the devs remain as far as I know. I don't know her that well. Maybe she is. So you so you go into Eastern Europe, you collect the children and um you raise them, you convert them to Islam, you raise them in uh your own kind of private army and you can put them wherever you want. Smart kids go to the university. Uh religious kids go to the religious school. The big strong kids like not me would become janiseries which are the the soldiers, the warriors, whatever. So that's kind of cool. So I mean it's not cool. I don't endorse it, but it's hard to forget that one. They also castrated him, so Google that one. There's a great John Green on that one. The Ottoman Empire, Ottoman and Phoenicians. It's an older one. All of his are older ones, but it's a good one. That's a good one if you want to watch it because he gets into it a little bit. Uh, so anyway, bureaucratic elites, anything like that. If you you could they don't notice. Okay, so notice how it says like um notice how like bureaucratic they give you a Oh, what about the salary? You could also talk about Bannerman if you're familiar with them. Technically, you could talk about uh Zamandars, too. I mean, that gets ahead of us a little bit. So, anyway, you need to know who who are they recruiting, who is like in. So, again, it's very specific. If you just walk in here as a world history person and haven't like like know that they're these are the these are like the rules that they're going to play by, then you're kind of out of luck. Uh so, because this is what they're going to ask you. This is what they're going to do. Um uh so again, for all of these uh do not memorize them all. have one. Have one. If you're like, well, I know the bannerman in China and those are kind of the elites under the Manchu, go with that. It's great because all that they're going to ask you is something about bureaucratic elites and then you just fill in the blanks. So, that's kind of how the whole system works. And then the second one, my favorite. Why is it my favorite? Because this is what I think the um Did I click something? My bad. I think I clicked something. What is that? We got someone stuck on the screen. My bad, Chris. I just had you sitting there. Sorry. And there's a better version for you. So, sorry. So, um I think this is what the uh DBQ will be about. Why? Because I just think that uh they haven't never done a unit 3 one. So, um why not now? I mean, I said I actually guess this one every year, but in the middle here. How? Okay. So, yes. Okay. Okay, you're in charge. You got in charge of gunpowder, right? You're clashing with other people. You have these like bureaucratic elites. You have these people in the higher up of your government, military, whatever. Got you. Right. That's awesome. Now, how do you prove that you should be in charge? Like, how do you flex on everyone to be like, "Hey, I'm the guy. I'm it. We are the people that are supposed to be in charge." Well, you do that with a myriad of ways, and you can see them all here. Um, I specifically am a fan of uh where we I'm a fan of, let's see, this one. Uh I like uh you could say divine right. You ask a European king why they're in charge, they'll be like God picked me. Well, how do you know that? Kill me God if it's not supposed to. You know, it's it's kind of faulty logic, but that's what they would use. They would say God picked them because why wouldn't God pick them? God knows everything according to them. So the song high saying we are Islam. We are kind of the uh people who are the leadership of the Islamic world in West Africa. So they kind of use that. Uh human sacrifice with the asset, you can use any of those. Uh but notice that there's just a list and a lot of times it shows up as a list. So any of the architecture you let Forbidden City um Versailles uh the the goat here was the opening slide which was um uh Taj Mahal. So any that when it says Mughal mausoleia know what mausoleiums are uh Mughal maus mausoleia are just like where you be where you keep people dead people. And so that's what the Taj Mahal is. So you can go with any of those and that's good. And so, how do you let uh imperial portraits, uh, miniatures, like there's all kinds of ways that you like show that you're in charge? Like, uh, you see all these emperors painted on the wall? That one right there, that's me. I'm supposed to be in charge. So, Imperial portraits work, too. Uh, I mean, hell, we do that with portraits downtown in DC. So, sorry, I live near DC. Uh, there will be a unit five review. Uh, Malia Malia, that's a nice name. Um, so, and then the last thing is, okay, how you going to pay for it? How are you going to The finger thing means the taxes. How are you going to get the money for this thing? And so there's a bunch of different ways to do it. I have a great video about tax farming includes a costume change which I'm very proud of. I do not fit into that outfit anymore. Uh but Mughals Mughals are using Zamondars like the Mughals are Islamic. So that's a huge part of what you need to know about them. And they're ruling over an ocean of Hindus, like a massive amount of Hindus. So, why not instead of like disrupting and being like, "I'm here to collect taxes, why don't you use the people there to um why don't you use the people that are already there, the uh nobility, and just have the local lords collect taxes, and then you don't even have to deal with the people. The people don't have to deal with you. It's win-win. Tax forming also works." Uh, what's up? These slides are already posted in the description. Thank you, Shockflame. Is that your name? Shopling, Cappy Bear, Miss Saf, Kaden Schaefer, and Addie Web. I'm a big fan of whatever it is you three are up to. Something from Elite. Someone said that I should shout you out. So, I'm going to do it here. Why not? Because who wouldn't want to be associated with Ottoman tax farming like Kaden and Addie and Mrs. [Music] I have like a super basic name. So when I see names that aren't super basic, like my brain shuts. I'm also from the south, so you know, English is hard. So Miss Cypes, Sykes, Cypes, well, I said it like 10 times. How's that? I can't do it very well. So uh any of that stuff works. So again, it's specific. So they took over uh you know the the big ones, these big big deal empires, and they're going to be with us for a long time. Like buckle up Ottomans, they're here till 7.1. Same thing for the Manchus. Uh, sapphids go sapids actually exist completely in this area, but notice I haven't said a lot about them. Uh, they show up here in a second. And then the other bit is uh the muggles are here until the se boy mutiny. So until a couple days from now in this class. So uh anyway there you go. Uh oh, Mr. Garcia. I already said Mr. Garcia. Mr. Garcia, you're super famous. I don't know why you are. People love you and I do too. So uh you need to know who how. Let me do it this way. You need to know who's in char who are they picking. I won't cover the microphone. Who are they picking, right? To be in charge. Then you need to know how are they saying they're in charge? How are they flexing on everyone? And then you need to know, all right, how do they pay for it? Where do they get the money? It's three specific things in unit 3. And notice that it's it's the ideas and they leave the like empire choice to you. So get good on one of those and you're good to go. Has this been an SAQ? Yes, it was. Last year. Last year there was an SAQ on this. Uh I'm not gonna I'm not going to go through the SAQs. These are in here. So you and again uh last night I or today um during lunch when I was supposed to be eating like a normal human. Um I was making these. So this is the scoring breakdown from the college board. So you can go through and see specifically what they said was for all the SAQs that I've dropped in here, which I try to only do the most recent ones. You can see in there uh specifically what they say. So feel free if you're like, well, what is what would have been a good answer? They're all there. So they're all there. go look at them. So, the only reason I'm I'm going to linger here for one second, people watching the clock, uh is because notice this. This is new. This is both versions of the exam last year had started the SAQ section. So, you do 55 stimulus based multiple choice questions in 55 minutes. Woo, that's a marathon. Then the clock flips. You're digital, right? The screen shifts. You're now in SAQ Town. And you see this and you see this, right? I need to move my monitor. I need to move my monitor. So, uh, I have it on the wrong side. So, notice here, identify one claim the authors make. They've done this the past two years, not just last year, the past two years. Identify one claim. I don't care if your if your little sister just walked in and she's like, "What's going on? What's this class?" They can you can read whoever they are, your random sibling, your parents can read that first paragraph and and identify a claim. What's something that person said? I don't know. whatever they said, right? Just just find it, write it in a sentence, right? But I'm bringing that up now because identify a claim. And then it says, identify a piece of evidence that the author uses to support their claim. That has nothing to do with history, right? You're just getting it from this source. So, and again, that's what you're doing in the DBQ. Uh, shout out my DBQ video. Uh, I think it's good. Um, go watch. It's 18 minutes. So, if you want to get on and like how to DBQ, like they're basically asking you to uh what is his the name one of his thesis, one of his arguments, one of his claims and then a piece of evidence that he uses to support it. That's what you should be doing later in the exam. So, they've done this every so I'm again I won't spend time but that's look for that that uh in what is it nine days that will be there. So, look for that and then the answers are there if you want. Oh, it was on another one as well. Who's this? Mr. Burr. Bill Burr is your teacher, man. Must be the best class in the world. Love to be in Mr. Burr's class. If it's not Bill Burr, then I'm sure Mr. Burr is cool, too. Probably. Most likely. Um, so is this the same one? No, it's different, but it's the same section, right? It's the same idea here talking about Oh, the only reason I put this one in here. So, uh, this is also something that I warn my class about, but they sleep through it probably, uh, is notice in C down here. And again, I won't do this again the rest of the way, I promise. Uh, but it just because this is something that's a trend that's been happening. Um, and it's why I picked my DBQ to say unit 3 and unit 4. Some sort of spillover and legitimizing empire or something like that. Um, that down here, notice it's like if you read this, you're like mus Muslims, Jews, Christians writing about history and Muhammad. That's super old. Wait, that's a unit one thing. But look at down here and then it says dates periods matter from 1200 to 1750. uh explain one development that could be used to support the author's argument about history writing and art creation legitimizing states exercise of power. Right? That's a unit three thing. So, uh you're going to cross lines. You're going to cross lines on. Don't expect like, well, is this unit three? Is this unit four? Is this unit five? Uh some of it's just going to go across different boundaries throughout. So, again, that's how it breaks down. And yes, there was an LQ about it. Uh if you want to know more, um I feel like Sullean I feel like Sullean gets overlooked. I made him the goat of unit 3. I used to think Akbar, but I think Sulamon deserves a little more. He's magnificent. There he is with a goat. So, um, these are the kinds of videos I have over in my ultimate review packet if you want to get in and, uh, see those. They're really good. I think they're really good. I did them for all nine units, so um, I'll plug them as we get to them. But unit three, Sulaman, do you have to know him specifically? No. But, uh, he is a great uh, example of like power in and I go through the entire unit and how Sullean covers everything. If you know Sulamon unit 3, you really know everything. So what? Oh my god. Please stop asking for the slides. They're already posted. They're already posted. Yo, you didn't read my last money chat. Mark, sorry, Mark. I didn't see it. I can't see everything. I'm at work right now. I can't even see. Okay, so again, know that and you're good. Know that and you're good. Uh oh, also another thing is over in the ultimate review back. What's the toughest? I think tax collection if I just went through that and you're like what the hell is this amundor like maybe go on well if you have the ultimate review packet I think these are nice uh I'm putting I just finished unit nine of this I'm going to post the the unit 9 one later on um economic I don't want to spoil it uh the toughest part I just literally posted today unit 8 so if you're ultimate review packet person you're like well where is everything unit 8 uh the great leap forward just posted that is the toughest thing to know for unit 8 so I think this is the the because otherwise it's kind of vague like okay gunpowder oh art okay Okay, I understand that they're collecting people. I understand there's fighting. I understand there's religion. Great. So, if you know that, you're good. So, 3.3 is super basic. 3.3 is I don't Well, I don't want to say super basic. 3.3 is the most schwagg Mr. I don't know if I know that first. I don't know. Sorry. It's a million people in here asking me to shout people out. I wish I I wish I could. I wish I I don't have time. Everyone is flying through. For the people that are donating to my cause, um, uh, thank you very much. I think you're awesome. Uh, Mr. Barger is the goat. I have to say that. I've been forced to do by Gunpowder Empire is forcing me to say that. Will the questions coming through? Can you please post the Slayer? Oh crap. Um, I'll do that at the end. Stay to the end. I'll post the link in the chat. So, I just want to make sure I get through this because I know there's people that are like having to do this because their teachers are cruel and unusual and being like, "Listen to the bold, man." So, um, anyway, 3.3 is belief systems. This one's the quickest one, so I'll be done in under 30 minutes. Can I do this in 20 seconds? Maybe. Uh, so there's a map of all the religions. Do you have to know where they are? No. Should you? Maybe. Oh, another shout out to Mr. Burr. He's the best teacher. Again, if you had Bill Burr as your history teacher, and that must be hilarious. Three things for 3.3. Number one, Protestant Reformation. Key word. And I again I I've highlighted and underlined what I think are kind of either vocab words or key ideas. Protestant re reformation. This is where Martin Luther went ham on the door on Halloween in 1517 and said uh we don't like the pope. We don't like indulgences. We're going to have our own Christianity thing. They protested. They wanted reform. Hence the name Protestant Reformation. So they break away. That's one big change you need to know. Notice it's not Europe. Notice it's it most of this isn't Europe. And then all of a sudden they're like anyway in Germany Luther went to the church in Vittenberg and was like look here are my 90. like that's kind of a turn. Uh but that's not an illustrative example. Know that that's a whole section right there. Second one, Sunni Shia split, which predates this. This isn't like, oh, the Sunni Shia split started in 1450. No, it did not. Uh the Sunni Shia split is uh it's older, but now you have two empires. This is what I warned you about a minute ago. Um Ottoman Safavid and they're clashing and as their borders get close together, they do not like each other. And this is one of the main causes for that. So if you know the Sunni Shia split with Ottoman Safavid rivalry that covers 3.1 covers 3.3 finally Islam Hinduism coming together in northern India leads to a quasi syncric belief. Sikism it's one of the largest religions on earth. Uh shout out to all the Sikhs out here in Virginia. There are a good the Muggals were Sunni. Everybody uh just assume and this is a huge uh uh oversimplification. Everyone is Sunni except the safets. It's not true, but just go with it as a group. It kind of is. So, um, that's the Seikks. The Seikks are a lot in Canada, uh, and Minnesota. I know they're up there, too, but we have a lot here in Virginia, Northern Virginia. So, that's very cool. Big fan of the Seek. So, that's that's a a belief system that kind of comes together. All right. God, Mr. Burr, your kids love you. Notice none of my kids are saying, "Say Mr. Freeman." None of them are like, "Shout out Freeman. He's the best. We love his class. He's so cool." like that doesn't ever happen. It's always like, "Shut up, Freeman. Get out of here. Leave me alone." So, also, do not, if you are my kid, do not give me any money. I will give it I will I will give it to the poor, which is me, but I'll also give it to like someone who really needs it. So, don't give me anything. Do not make me fight you. So, any unit three questions right here before we move on? Unit four, I think, is something you've probably heard of a little bit more. So, that should go a little quicker, I think. So, uh whoops. Oh, while you're coming up with questions, uh I'll post the exam slayer, which again is 100% free. I when I mentioned, uh ultimate review packet, if you want more, if you want more of this like ridiculousness, then then go for it. But, um if not, totally get it. Do other things, watch other people, study on your own. Again, I'm just giving you options here. But, um I don't know. I put a lot of time. I think it's helpful. If you need like if you need more than me just being like history and you want like a more focused approach, that's what I'll do. So, okay. Okay. Okay. So, stop posting everybody a million things at one time. I'm going to post this here. Um, that won't stop you though, will you? No. So, that's it. And you'll see like two things. One's the ultimate review packet. That's the money. If you're like, I don't want to pay. Cool. Got you. That's fine. Example is completely free. Only this year. Only this year cuz I didn't finish it. There's a video in there that explains it. There's a lot of like Exams and me like saying weird things. So, if you want to get in there uh and do that, please do it. Please do it. Please do it. It's free. It's free. It's free. And plus, there's worst case scenarios, get on do the test at the end. Try it. It's free. It's in it it we also have a a test in the ultimate review pack as well. Get in. But that one is paid, but this one is not. And so, this year and you can get on and do that. It has the the vocabulary stuff. So, um that's the link uh that you can do. Was the Catholic Protestant? What was the Catholic? Oh, the there's a Catholic Shawn Brady. Didn't I have Shawn Brady in class? That name sounds familiar. I just heard somebody say Sean Brady's name. I just had a weird flashback. Um, so all right. Cool, cool, cool, cool, cool. I'm not Himler, but okay. Steven Burr. So, not Aaron, not Bill. The other Burr. You could have just said the other one and I would have definitely guessed it. Uh, war wardrop. That sounds like a very interesting name. So, anyway, can you explain the solaride? I don't know what that means. Shout out for the number one, Mr. Ritter. Good deal, Mr. Ritter. Man, y'all's kids love you. Seriously, like, y'all are doing some good work. How were the Zamadar? Zamadars were pre-selected. They're already the the local nobles. Like, you go to a local Same thing. Imagine if you somebody asked how Man, y'all tell y'all type too quick. If if you went to um if you wandered into a medieval town and the Lord like you just be like, "Look, I took over this place. I don't really deal with all your peasants and stuff. Why don't you collect taxes from these people? I'll be around every once in a while to collect them. You're still in charge. Look at all your power in this local area, but just know I'm the big deal and you have to obey whatever I say, but again, all I'm really going to say is get me these get me this money." It's the same idea. So, you're just doing that. Uh, my DBQ video is out already and it says specifically that um I don't see it's literally on the screen. This is it. I mean, you can again just Google it. Don't type that whole thing if you just Google AP World History Exam Slayer. You'll eventually get to it. It's It's 100% free. It's 100 They're two different things. I didn't see your chat. Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry. Remind man, can you explain Catholic church? You don't need to know. I mean, Catholics are descended uh if you can say that uh from the pope in Rome, the Roman Catholic Church. So, that's them. They kind of have the the one the head priest, the pope, the father, uh the one that just died uh is a is a not a descendant, but a cultural descendant of that, we'll say. And so when he um has too much power or you know they wouldn't let you read the Bible because you couldn't understand it. So Luther got upset and was like ah I don't like this. So if you are I always say this but if you are Christian this isn't 100% true but if you are a Christian and you are not Catholic or Orthodox that's the old split from the old schism which happened before this class. If you're not one of those then uh probably you are Protestant in some way. I mean sure there's an historian. There's other groups out there but majority of that is that. All right. All I'm seeing is people talking about goats and being sad about the pope. Okay. So, let's keep going then. Let's keep going. Uh, there we go. All right. All right. All right. Cool. So, that's unit three. Unit four, I think, goes a little more. I'll I'll take this down. Sorry. I'm really not trying to sell you anything right here. I mean, if you want, Sure. I think it's helpful. But like, how do I get rid of this? All right. Cool. So, there you go. Let me understand Protestant restoration. Yes, it's what I just said. The Catholics uh the Protestant Maybe this is a bit behind. Maybe I'm judging you incorrectly. Um oh, we do have a final tomorrow. Whoever said that we have a final exam. Um it's literally the uh the Protestants broke away. They're like, "We don't want to be under the rule of the Pope anymore. We want to be able to do our own thing." And so if you just know that they don't like the Pope, that's probably good enough for this class. Uh they're not going to get too much in there. Um all right, cool. So, unit four, these are some Dutch ships. I'm going to walk you through unit four. Unit four, I think, is a little easier to understand the unit 3 because unit 3 is like here are the ideas and you need to know these empires and you do the math. Here, it's a little more specific. So, I'll walk you through it real quick and I'll leave time at the end for questions. It is uh we are 37 minutes in. Again, I don't want to keep you up all night. I know you guys all go to bed at 9:00 like I do. So, uh Whoops. Uh I make a map. This one's kind I need to do a new one. This one's But you can at least see the empires. You don't need to know explorers. There's actually two explorers on here you do need to know. One is that yellow line coming out of China there. That is Jungha. I don't know why I'm pointing. Uh this guy here, Jungha. You know him in the treasure fleets, right? The other one is this red line. Columbus is the second person you have to know for AP World History Exam. You only have to know nine. So, uh name people names. There's other stuff you could use that could help you. Like I I think um I've previously said uh yeah, Mr. R. Oh, people Mr. Ritter. They want you to know they were here. Can you I can't see. Everything's flying by too quickly. So, uh, what's the other thing? Just Columbus. Nine people to know. Oh, like I think I've in the past I've said that Bartalum delis Kasus might be the most important person in uniform. It's really all opinion. It's really all opinion. So 4.1 super easy. This was on the exam not that long ago specifically last couple years. It shown up a couple times. It's easy. It's easy. All you have to know is technology. So I would just know a couple things. Uh, no. I just I went ham. I do this. I went ham. I was like, "Well, what are all the technologies that were on the boat that you could know?" All of these are examples, not necessarily of technology, but kind of. Uh, you'll never see the cross staff mentioned. I would go compass, uh, Astrolabe, and Noah Boat. That's it. Why do I say that? Because they say ship design, and they know wind patterns and new tools. So, I just kind of covered it there. Pretty easy. Was this an SAQ? Yes, it was. In 2023, what are the answers? I put them here for you. You're welcome. Uh I went back and did this for all of them. So, if you want to know more about it, again, don't pause the video. Look in you can just go through this yourself. Make a copy or whatever. So, causes event. So, uh you can see on from this map where I'm getting at here, but these empires aren't massive. Meaning these these aren't the empires. Unit six are the big boys, right? The British Empire, the French Empire. The Mongols are big. Uh Spain is big here. Uh but the others aren't really that big. They're trading post empires. They're just little coastal setups here that you can see along the coast. It's basically you get um they're also known as factories, which is confusing as hell in this class. Um but you can call them trading posts. Uh there was an SA famous SAQ a couple years ago a lot of people tripped up on because they showed a a diagram of a bunch of factories and was like, "Oh, well these were stuff was produced." I'm like, "That's not the right version of factory." Even though it did say it in the the thing, it did specifically say. So, uh, if you know, uh, that these empires look more like this than the big maps. If you go to Wikipedia and you type in Dutch Empire, it's really more these. And it's really just a giant warehouse that you're allowed to use to ship stuff in, ship stuff out. Trading Post, Empire, those are Trading Post. So, another thing. So, again, I make maps for all this. Another thing, um, the Northwest Passage is specifically mentioned. There's certain things in the curriculum where they're like, "Hey, know this one thing." So, that's what that map is. I made a whole video on that, which I think is good. So here's what you need to know what what I just said. Uh these are stateup supported. So mercantalism is coming up. That's a scary word. Uh they're trading post empires, right? Using the technology from 4.1. They go out around and now the Europeans are in your business. Why are the Europeans in your business? Because the land the landbased empires are crazy successful economically, militarily. Those are the big empires in this unit. So, uh, your little Portuguese guy in a boat like or the king of Portugal sitting in Portugal or the king of Spain can't really march through the Ottoman Empire to be like, "What do the Sapphavids have that?" Oh, what's going on in the Mughal Empire? Like, they really don't have access to that stuff. So, that's why they take the the new technologies, think of 4.1, what one I just showed you. Think of 4.1. Uh, sorry, I'm going backwards. All this technology is now in the hands of the Europeans. And they're like, "What if we went out of here? What if we got in boats and like see what's south of Africa or Columbus let's just keep going west and then we can definitely hit ch India and China at least that's kind of his idea so um that's kind of what's going on here so again you can see state where is it state supported trans oceanianic maritime empires that's what that is trading post empires trading post empires is what I just explained and then they start giving you names so Columbus second person to know mention right here with Spain uh and then I showed you that map a second ago. Northern Atlantic crossings. They're trying to go another way. They're trying to get to Asia. They do get there. They do find a way around, but it's like 1910 when they do. So, it's not really a feasible situation. So, who is the goat? I got a whole video on there if you want to go watch it. Uh, it's Columbus and a goat and they're in a boat. Anyway, I got a whole video on the ultimate review packet if you want to see why. And by the way, I don't think he's a good person at all. Um, he famously said about the Native Americans right after he met him, he's like, "They're so kind. They're so nice. they're going to make excellent slaves. And you're like, "Oh, okay. That's cool." So, I don't think he's great. I think he is uh super impactful, important person to know for units for unit 4. He's kind of like the most impactful guy. If you know the Columbus story, which you may already know, uh that kind of helps you out. All right. Uh Columbian Exchange. Hey, guess what? I can guarantee you is on the AP exam. It's the Columbian Exchange. It's on all the time. All the time. Like if I if we're sitting here playing like some sort of weird gambling and you're like pick a topic like first the number one pick in the 2025 AP World History draft is the Columbian exchange. It's going to be on there. It's always on there. So, and if you're looking at this, you're like, crap, that's a ton of stuff. Well, don't worry about it. Think of um the big idea is this side over here where you are probably the Americas and this side over here had never met in thousands and you know, pangia times, right? So stuff is independently growing or evolving or whatever on either side. The Columb exchange is just the idea that once people start moving back and forth, these things will also start going back and forth and it's introduced to either side in a myriad of ways. And so that's the Columbian exchange. No one walked into France with a pumpkin and was like, "Let's trade." Like it's not a trade route. It's just it's the the term wasn't didn't even come up until the 1970s. Some guy invented it. So, um, Lunkovitz. Whoa. Mr. Lunkitz. Jeez, man. Your kids love you. My god. Lots of you guys out there. That's awesome, man. Again, none of my kids. They're always like, "Shut up." They're always like, "Shut up." So, good luck, Mr. Mr. Wanka Vitz. It's probably W. It's probably W. So if you just know that and so if you know a couple things just a couple things here that so I would pick uh potatoes and tomatoes from the Americas delicious calories food and then on the other side diseases but notice there's a bonus arrow I put in here there's a whole little section on stuff that the African enslaved Africans brought with them. Okra and rice are the examples there. So if you want to keep that chomp of rice gang going ship it across here during the Columbian exchange. So um there's a bunch of stuff there. Uh and then everything that comes along with this section specifically the idea of okay once the all these crops are being grown in large scale uh you're going to need labor to do it. You're going to start with the incoming end labor system. Coerc labor is big in unifor uh you're going to start with the encomand system and then there's cherries. Then you're going to um uh native Americans are going to die up to 90% are going to die from disease. So I would have small pox in my brain not literally but I would have small pox as like what's a disease? Small pox. that's the that's the one that kills the most Native Americans. Go with that one. And then since they are dwindling in numbers drastically, flip that and know that well they need labor. They don't they they financially feel that the Europeans financially feel that they need labor. Uh and they're not going to do it themselves. They can't get people to come to the Caribbean to grow sugar. That's like a nightmare situation. So what they do is they go into Africa, the pre-existing systems of um you know PS and enslavement and they bring a whole new enslavement. It's called cattle slavery. And so chatt slavery, think cattle like cattle. They treat them like cattle. Cattle cattle cattle. So cattle slavery is when as an I'm an American. I live in America. When I growing up, I grew up in South Carolina. So when I think of like slavery, that's chatt slavery. But it's new. That's new. That's not something people have been doing before. So, if you know that uh a lot of allergies this season, how are you feeling? You feeling good? Lunkits, I already said what's up, man. I think you're awesome, too. SAQ, is there one on this? There's there's a lot of these, especially if you go back before 2019. They were asking Columbia Exchange, Columbia Exchange, Columbia Exchange, Columbia. So, if there's one thing in unit 4 that you need to know, oh, look at all the blesses. Y'all are sweet. Um, if there's one thing you need to know for unit 4, it's Columbian Exchange. And again, don't be like, okay, chocolate and avocados and no, just like know a couple potatoes and tomatoes. So, Irish people didn't have potatoes before 1492. Italian people didn't have tomatoes before 1492. So, those are big changes. Big shockers. So, again, what are the answers? There's some answers there for you. All right. So, the empires, let's talk about them. So, there's there's a couple things that they throw in that again, if you're just reading this at home and you're you're just studying on your own, you're going to miss these. And so I'm going to bring them up now just so that you know them so that when you fall asleep or you change this in a minute um or delete me forever, whatever you do, uh that you have this one thing in your head because this is something they can be like they could ask you very specifically about and that is so I I told you before kind of the map extends. So this is uh the Songhai Empire, formerly the Mali Empire, right? Uh Monsamusa, all the gold, all that stuff. He's super awesome, right? So that's in the last period. We're here in unit 4 now. So we're here 1450 to 1750. So, as the Europeans come around, follow my mouse, as the as the, uh, Europeans come around this way, specifically the Portuguese, then everyone else, uh, coming around this way, these areas are now added to the global trade network. So, you basically are extending down the road a little bit, and then you're like, well, who are these people? Okay, let's trade with them. Who are these people? Uh, can we trade with them? And you just keep going down the line like that. And if you just keep going down the line like that, you're going to run into these empires. So, these empires are now hooked in to the global trade network, which is awesome. Economically, it's great for them. However, it is not great for their people because the number one thing they're shipping out are their own people or their rival people who they've captured in war or whatever, right? There's a myriad of ways they're they're getting people for this. So, it's beneficial for these empires, but not necessarily for the people in or nearby those empires. So, they say that specifically. So, make sure you know that. That's not like, oh, Freeman was really interested in the Cong Kingdom of Congo, which is different than the the state of Congo. Uh, or Benin, although Benine comes up later um as well in unit 6. So, uh, it's just like, hey, welcome. I mean, you're meeting new people. They're now added because once they get to India, it's not like, oh, who are these? That's the Muggals. Oh, once they get to China, who are that's the Man Jews. Like, those are people we've already met. These people aren't. So, they're kind of being added in. So, the coerc labor, there's a bunch of different versions. Uh, I would know child slavery and I would know the incoma system. They're kind of a big deal. Uh, and then that all that stuff I just said is listed here. I'm trying to get through this for you guys that are barely awake. Uh, so again, like I said, down here it's a I know I'm using Google Slides, but down here uh that's what that is talking about. That's specifically that bit. So, uh, about like, oh, Congo, uh, uh, Benine, welcome to um the, [Music] um, welcome to the trade network. And they're like, all right, well, what do you need? They're like, we need labor. like we have labor. And so that's where the child slavery really takes off. Uh kind of a a terrible mix of what did uh the professor from Harvard said? Avaracious Europeans and avaracious African elites kind of conspiring to create this horrible horrible system. Terrible, terrible, terrible. So and then here uh what else do you have here? Uh this is going to ruin the Indian trade network. The 2019 one of the best DBQs of all time. Um he's emailing me. Miss Blue Ball. Not tonight. Not tonight. Something about study hall tomorrow. So, um yeah, this section down here is uh about the new um coerc all of this and plantation economies to grow cash crops for export, all that stuff. But this bit here, uh so that stuff is probably the stuff you went over in class. Um right here, disruption and restructuring due to the arrival of the Portuguese. There was a whole DBQ on that in 2019. It's one of my favorites. I make my kids write it sometimes cuz I think it's a great one. It's the one with the box. You remember the box? Have you had to deal with the box? Uh, that's that one. So, if you're good there, was this an SAQ? Yeah, sure it was last year. Uh, there are the answers. Uh, these are trading companies. So, I got some trading companies here. So, the m maintenance of the empires mercantalism. Mercantalism is tough. I actually think it's the toughest thing. Who is Oh, I think it's the toughest thing you actually have to know for AP or for this unit. In fact, so much so again, this is the 2006 DBQ. If you don't know mercantalism, think of it as the mother country requiring all these colonies to deliver stuff to them and not trade with anyone else, but only to benefit her, the mother country. It's kind of hard to find this cartoon. I think it's the one of the best political cartoon. Well, I guess it is. Um, but this cartoon kind of tells you everything like, "Oh, deliver me all of the things." And the colonies are basically exist to serve the the mother country. And then once you get to the United States, that's where everything kind of flips over. The Americans are like, "Well, what if we're the Americans and what if we're not a British colony?" Like, and then that's unit five. That's tomorrow night. Oo teaser. So, uh, the flow of silver. This is the actual trade route. Middle passage might be a term to know. They don't I don't think they say it by name, but that's the middle passage is literally enslaved Africans being ripped from the continent and shipped across the Atlantic. Deadly, deadly, deadly. Millions and millions and millions and millions up to 12, maybe more million. And so, this used to be called the triangle trade. It's now called the Atlantic system. It's the same. It's the same thing. Mr. Lunkitz, what's the deal? Why? Why do your kids like you so much? Who? Paul, his name's Paul. Paul Lunkitz allegedly. That's what I'm hearing. That's what I'm hearing. And so then down here, mercantalism is again what I just said. Joint stock companies are new. You can buy into a you can buy into a company like Dutch East India Trading Company, the most successful company of all time. You can buy into it. Now, careful, it's not capitalism. you're not you're not really you're not like hm which trading company if you're in the Netherlands there's one it's the Dutch India trading company and it's a conglomerate of all the trading companies put together so um uh sorry just checking the side so yeah that's um uh 1900 people damn it's a lot of people in here hi 1900 people how are you um so that's a joint stock company so again they're very successful but you don't it's not capitalism you don't have an option like It's the government putting forward do you want to invest in this thing? It's the only one you can do. So that's all that is. Uh then you've got the Atlantic trading system, the global flow of silver coming from Possi but other places as well in the Americas. Most of that's going towards China. And then the demographic changes are kind of obvious as to what goes on in Africa and back home. Has this been on? Yes. Uh two years ago this was an SAQ. Unit 4 shows up a lot in the SAQs. I would say unit four and unit six are both over represented in um SAQs, LQs, DBQs, all of that stuff. So, uh make sure you can do that. I gota if you're like, "Wow, that was too cursory. My I don't know what mercantalism is." Again, the ultimate review packet. I I have for every unit what I think the toughest I think that's I think that's the toughest thing. So, if you want more on that, Google it, find videos online. I think mine's very good. I just made it this year. So, uh get on and see that. And guess what? No one likes you coming into their country ever to take over. taking over is not very nice. So, uh all of these people fought back. These are a bunch of people here. So, um there are a bunch of people here uh examples, but then again, they give you this generic kind of like this group like the So, there was resistance and enslaved people also resisted. So, save yourself some mental time here. Again, uh most valuable thing perhaps in this unit, go with Queen Nani. She's a maroon. Maroons are formerly enslaved people who went away and they are challenging authorities in the Americas through organizers. She had a whole army the British signed treat. You don't know Queen Nani. Look up Queen Nani. I used to work with a Jamaican guy. Shout out Mr. Fu. Um and he would tell me all this stuff about I'm like man that's just like you hear like George Washington stand up to the British and like all this stuff and you hear like well there was this also this maroon in Jamaica and she also did that and you're like wow that's kind of like the British had to sign treaties with her like please stay in the mountains and stop attacking us. Queen Nani, Queen Nani, Queen Nani. So, uh, big fan of Queen Nani, but that that checks both of these boxes here. So, if you want to go with that, go with that. Uh, changing hierarchies here specifically, uh, Mughals and Ottomans. Wait a minute, that's a unit three thing. Again, three and four. Three and four kind of overlap with each other a little bit here. So, um, if you know that, uh, what's his name? Akbar the Great is very religiously tolerant. And you know that um, uh, the Ottoman, Sulaman specifically, also tolerant just because they rule over diverse areas, that'll get you there. And I I would go ka system here. That's kind of the the that's the highlighted word. It's the cast system in the new world. You've got Europeans, Africans, and Native Americans in the new world all living together. And so that's going to I'll save you the details, but that's going to create some new types of people. And they get racially classified in the Costa system. So system another big idea to know. Unifor. That was unifor. All right, let's do this. What do you want to know? I finished five minutes early. Look at this. Look at me. Lunkitz still legendary status. I get it. I get it. Uh, salaried samurai. Again, I would go with the Ottoman dev. That's the one I go with in class. I'm not an expert on samurai, although I do like the Jedi. Uh, Achilles, get out of here with that. Was the best test strategy. Not getting tired. It's a you Oh, that's a good one. Whoever said that, you're a good person. Um, it's an afternoon test this year. So, it's at noon. Um, it's um, so sleep in. If you have a doctor's appointment that day, that could be helpful for you to show up. Uh, you need to be there. Uh, my class, my kids have to be there at 11:15. That's when lunch is. So, not normally. Our lunch is like super late cuz, uh, 11:15. So that you need to be there 15 minutes early uh to get in. Uh you do need to know your password. That's a big thing we're stressing around here. I had some big problems last year with a kid who couldn't remember her password. Couldn't take the exam. So you're logging in. You can't bring a device into you can't bring your Oh, it's on my phone. If you bring your phone in, you're also going to be kicked out. So So and Nzinga go by Nazinga is also another good example. Uh Mr. Cox, somebody has him at uh Broadrun. I He helped me uh catch a flight one time. That guy's awesome. Uh, what else? Magi restoration. Love magi restoration. Maji restoration not in this time period though. Magi restoration later on. So, you need the industrial revolution to happen in unit 5 before the mage can kick in then as well. Uh, yes, Tokugawa shogunut um is an awesome thing. All right, people keep asking. I'll do it again. Again, this this I did not I don't I I do a lot of web design type things. I did not make this part. So, I'll give you this here. Um, uh, whoops. Are there breaks? There's one break. How did I lose my own comment? Um, there's one 10-minute break. Um, so that's there. It's the one on the right. It's totally free. Get in there, mess around with it, do whatever you need to do. Uh, Tokugawa Shogun is a great example, um, of people shutting down. So, I think I kind of flew through it on time, but, uh, it's an example of, um, European show up, and a lot of people are like, "Fine, we're closed. No more." So, China had a couple ports open and Japan was like, "None, none." It's called uh Tokugawa set up something called uh Sakoku. Sukoku means like locked country. No one in, no one out. Uh they did trade with the the Dutch because the Dutch weren't pushing their religion on them. Uh the Dutch actually convinced the Japanese that Catholicism and the Dutch reformed religion were two completely different things. So, oh, we don't do any of that. Jesus, that's a different thing. What they're talking about Jesus, we don't know him. So, I just put the exam slayer thing on the screen. So, if you want to see that, get that's the link. You can Google that. I wouldn't type that. I if you want to screenshot or whatever, um you can know the Spanish in the Philippines. That's a prime example of um people fighting back. Uh Dr. Jose Rzal, shout out to all the Filipinos out there. Um Dr. Jose Rzal. What are joint stock companies? It's a you could buy a stock, a piece of a company, and if that company does well, that value goes up the same way as if you buy a piece of gold or something. So, joint stock companies were just that. Uh, what else is going on here? What else do you want to know? Chinese dynasties do you need to know? My mom is asking, "Mom, here are the Chinese dynasties you need to know." Uh, you need to know the song. Kicks off with a song. Go watch the video yesterday. Uh, you need to know uh the the yuan are next, but you don't need to know them. I shouldn't even say them. That's the Mongols. So, the Mongols took over. Um, then the Ming kicked them out. Do you need to know that? Not really. uh you need to know uh they refer to Admiral Jungha as Ming Admiral Jangha. So if you want to know that uh but then it's Ching it'sQing the Manchu are the ones to know. Uh mercantalism I got a whole video on it. I'm not going to get into it right now. It's just economics of uh empire building. Really mercantalism is just the um everything you do must benefit the state and only the state. Incoma system is the it's feudalism forced on the native Americans. Same idea. They basically become surfs. They owe labor to the Europeans. Why are AP world teachers bald? Because we're beautiful. Like that's that's the answer. What would you say is the best way to come up with context? Just whatever the topic is. If LQ's give you a little context, by the way, they give you a little line up top. But just whatever it is, just whatever units that's from, talk about that unit if you can. So like have a little story in your head about units 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 nine. Just a quick little Oh, this is the unit about that. This So any background about that and you're good to go. Mitch, anything outside of the curriculum for the Yes, you can talk outside nine people, Carson. Um, do you can you talk outside of the curriculum? Yes, I've been at the read and literally got up and left and went out in the home and looked on my phone was like, "What the hell is that?" And I was like, "That's it. It's a thing. I mean, I'm not an expert on everything." So, somebody asked for the nine. We've only covered four, three. We've covered number one, Admiral Jungha, mentioned by name. Ming Admiral Jangha, he's mentioned in unit two in the Indian Ocean. Columbus unit 4 just mentioned him. Uh, spoiler. Uh, in unit five, you need to know Simon Bolivar in Venezuela, the Jamaica letter. Uh, can I do this? Sevar. I just did some of these in class today. You also need to know Adam Smith and capitalism. They say him by name. You also need to know Karl Marx, the antithesis to Smith, the anti-smithite. And uh, then you need to know Hitler in unit 7. That guy's a bit of a troublemaker to say the least. I'm not saying he's a good person, but you do need to know him. Uh, and then there's three in unit 8 on the same topic of nonviolence. Mandela, Gandhi, and Dr. Martin Luther King. That's nine. I did it. I didn't think I would be able to remember it. Mr. Rock, Mr. I don't know that one. I don't know that one. Resources. Do you have any resources for common pictures? I don't have a thing. Would that be Oh, no. I do. I have a website. It's called frempd.com. Uh if you go there, any little sub, so go to the AP world section, go to any little sub section, and I have art to know for like 5.1, art to know for 5.3 for 5.5. So images and stuff that might come up. Uh Japan in this section is Tokugawa lockdown. They're awesome. They're your heroes. Uh starting in6003, they shut everything down and they don't let anyone in or around. They show up again at the end of unit 6. These are going Lanfred. Mr. Lanfrieded heroes. Oh man, there's a lot of shout outs here. I got to get through. Uh Rouch. I don't know Rouch. I did the nine people to know. Awesome. Um what else? Uh thank you guys for having me. What's the best way to not get tired? It go to bed. Don't stay up all this hacker person. Don't stay up all night, right? study like, "Oh, I'm going to I'm going to stay up till like 5:00 a.m. and then I'm just going to go in and take Don't don't don't. You will run out of gas." Fossil fuels unit 5. You will run out of gas. So, don't do that. Um, make sure you um eat something for breakfast and something for lunch. You do not want to, as the kids say, crash out at this point. You do not want to do that. So, make sure you are eating. Make sure you are drinking water, not just Celsius or whatever you guys are addicted to now. Um, that's the kind of thing. So, um, uh, oh, he left. He said bye now. Well, anyway, that could help the few people, the few thousand people that are left here. Uh, Rouch already said that he's the goat. Um, Mrs. Wiggins and Mrs. Schwarz, I love them. Uh, oh, thank you. People are saying nice things about me. That happens sometimes, too. Uh, Barers is the goat. Uh, how can everyone be the goat, though? You know what I'm saying? Equal opportunity and all that. Wow. Y'all are super nice. Y'all have a lot of things nice things to say about your teachers. That's very cool. Hopefully, your teachers are not are helping you in some way, shape, or form. So, what else? There's 13 of 1300 of you right here. What do you want to know? Oh, sorry. I got to go back to I'm on the wrong tab. Maybe that's why. Um, what else? What else? Oh, Mr. Spitler. I know that guy. I know him from the read. He's super cool. Uh, Mark, it's his first name. It's just a lot of shout outs now. Do you all Is there anything Is there anything you want to know? Is there anything you're like, "Uh, he didn't mention this or whatever. I'm five minutes over. I don't want to go super late." Ceil Roads is later. Ceil Roads is later. He's a unit five guy. He's a unit six guy, really. Sorry. Incomand hassienda that's kind of a incomand as the labor hienda is the location. Think of hosiend as like a a plantation in Latin America if you want to think of it like that. It wasn't all incomandanda labor. Incoming labor would just be the labor that is um uh like the forced labor of the Native Americans. So um multiple choice strategies it depends on the it depends on the question depends on what you're doing. Um, read the first question after a stimulus before you read the stimulus because it's generally specifically about it so you know what you're looking for. That's kind of a good one. Continuity and change in the time period. Um, empire growth is a continuity. Uh, who's in charge is a change. I mean, I'm going super super broad here. Um, important African states to remember in this unit. Um, the uh, Kingdom of Congo, Asanti here in this unit are the two big ones that show up. I'm thinking of other ones. Um, in this one, that's kind of the ones because of how they're new to the global trade network, but also that's where a lot of the enslaved Africans are coming from. Uh, Ottoman tax farming is just instead of building an entire IRS division to find taxes and stuff, you just sell that to someone else. You you um what's the word? When you hire someone to do it for you, you hire someone to do it for you, whatever that word is. So, that's what tax forming uh is. And so, you just have them do you get if if I'm the Sultan, I get a guaranteed amount of money coming my way. And if I'm um the uh tax farmer, then I can go tax whatever I want. And so generally tax farmers may double what they pay to for the right to tax. So that's tax forming reason for exploration besides finding a route to Asia to get to the trade routes. I mean, you could say religion, spread religion as a reason for the trade routes. Costa system I mentioned earlier. Uh it's you get no points off for spelling. Everything is a rough draft and they know that. So if you spell something wrong about the Russians, the only time the Russians come up in this entire se I teach a whole class on Russian history. Um the only time the Russians come up in this section is that resistance and one of the resistance resistancers resistances resistors is uh Kasaks which means Freeman. Uh the Kasaks uh did not like um well there's a bunch of different people that they didn't if they didn't like Azar they would sometimes overthrow them. So that's an example of resistance. Um, Jingghi is important because he uh was flexing how the power of uh the Ming Chinese throughout the Indian Ocean and plus he was able to do it and he was going porttoport and he was meeting with people that uh who knew the Chinese emperor not personally but knew of them and owed tribute to him. So it just shows the power of China and the fact that China did that and they just went back home. So don't think Columbus is super special or that Dama is super special. China was doing it 50 years earlier. They just didn't see any benefit to it and canceled it. Kind of got rid of it. India in this section. India really shines in the next section. This is the Mughals. The Mughals and the Maratas. I did a whole video on that where I said their name wrong and got yelled at by all of India at one time. Tough. It's Maratas. Uh Maratas. Um uh document analysis. Take notes. Write stuff down as you're reading. You'll have scratch paper. So use it. Martin Luther. Important to know. You guys just keep spamming the same question. Martin Luther is No, he's not. I mean, he's the Protestant. He's the first big Protestant guy uh to know and I forgot the second half of your question. Um can you please explain I just said a joint stock companies again. Can you can a short answer response be a sentence? Absolutely. Identify should be a sentence. I mean you really don't need to go into further than that. Um PBLO revolts are just an example. I mean there's a million examples. So Columbian exchange agreed. It's a big deal. It's a big deal. Utter I agree with you. Uh what else? Civil service exam goes all the way until the communists take over. Like the manche are using it the whole way. The Taiping even use their own version. Typing rebellion use their own version. It's just Christian questions instead of like uh Confucian stuff. So civil service exam is with you until 1911. 30 years war doesn't matter. It's a European war. I mean you can't. It's a religious war. Catholics v Protestants. Allison, can I go over all of unit 3? Yes. There's a little bar at the bottom and you go slide it back and I'll talk about unit three. Uh, no. All SAQs do not need specific examples. It's helpful, but as long as you're describing something or or explaining something pretty well. Calvinism too specific. No. Luther is enough. Calvin is too far. It's too European. Moms is Mughal, Ottoman, Manchu, Safavid. Those are the big four. Who is Sullean? Made a whole video on that. You can check it out. Uh, Sullean, he's magnificent. He's the He ruled the Ottomans at their peak. Biggest most one of the longest lasting empires. He's their most powerful ruler. You can really know a lot about them through the eyes of Sullean. The lawgiver is what they call him over there. Labor systems. I would know child slavery. I would know Incoma. I would know Ma pops up sometimes. Sometimes. All right, guys. It's 909. What are we doing? What is the different the hardest unit? You mean the most difficult unit, Emma? um eight it's two big topics it's very recent so there's a lot of information that could be used uh it's also done towards the end of the year when a lot of people are in a rush like me in class so I would say unate I love unit I think unate's super cool I kind of grew up in that time a little bit by fellow vocab and phrases go do the ultimate see the somebody said I'm having trouble with vocab I found every word that I think is possible on the AP exam and I've got a list of them. So, go through and ones you know, great. Ones you don't know them because those are questions they could ask you. Is there a format to uh your teacher may give you an SAQ format to respond to, but there there's really no tried and true method. I tried the T thing before. I tried the ACE thing before. I feel like it it's another thing you're trying to remember when you should just be answering the question. Unit is the most common. Jackson Moore, uh 3, four, five, and six. 3, four, five, and six. So, tonight, tomorrow night, those are the big ones. Uh, at Atlantic's slave trade is is during this time period, 100% during this time period. Uh, and into the next time period, unfortunately, it is dodo. The dodo is gone. All right. Good. We feeling good. How are we feeling? There's a thousand people. Once we go under a thousand and1 people, I will shut up. We're at a th00and people. Um, uh, MCQs are not impossible. You'll find that they're easier to do, um, than you think they are. Get on. Yes, I have. Yes, I have a free mock exam. It's in the Ultimate Exam Slayer. Get on. It's free. It's no, you don't have to do anything. Just get in there and take it. It's made by a guy who makes tests all the time. He's very, very, very, very talented. So, get in there and take that. Um, you do need to hit documents just in the DBQ. Um, okay. We're under a thousand, so I'll leave you alone. Um, okay. Queen Nani fought the British. She resisted the British and she fought against them in Jamaica. She's Jamaican. Maybe I should have said Jamaica. I did say Jamaican. Um, another bald teacher. Oh, the name went by. A. All right, I'm done. It's late. I got to run. Penny's going to knock over the camera. Okay, guys. Thanks a lot. Um, tomorrow night. Wait, I think there's more slides. Tomorrow night. Yeah. What else is there? Uh oh, yeah. So, ultimate review packet. Get I like it. Uh, you might as well. There's a free trial of that, too, if you want to do that. Then uh here we are with uh the schedule. Tomorrow night is Tuesday. Is it only Tuesday? These days are getting tough. I think I worry about the exam more than you guys. Maybe not. Uh so we'll do the modern period. We'll do unit 5 and unit 6. I think my favorite two units. If I had to pick a a period, that's my favorite one. Um it's the hinge. Everything changes after tomorrow night. So tomorrow, if you aren't here right now, show up tomorrow. You know that uh there are prizes for whoever wins the cahoot. fabulous prizes. Have to get some. It's a lot of Freeman Pedia swag, a lot of stickers and stuff. So, and then that's it. Cool. Thank you guys. I'll see you uh go to school tomorrow. Learn something, do something uh positive, and I will see you guys here uh tomorrow night. Uh hopefully this was helpful. And if it wasn't, then you know, then don't show up. I don't know. I'm just here to help. Try and help. Thanks a lot, guys.
