How to Pass Your Class 7 Road Test

Before the Test

Registration: Register for the road test either online or in person.
Practice: Drive around the test center area to familiarize yourself with the routes.
Driving Instructor: Consider hiring an instructor to guide you.

Arrival: Get to the test site at least 30 minutes early.
Documents:
- Bring two pieces of accepted ID (one primary, one secondary).
- Have the test fee ready.
- Carry your valid insurance and vehicle registration documents.
Vehicle: Ensure the car is clean and safe to drive.

The examiner will check the safety of your vehicle.
- Lights: Brake lights, signal lights, and headlights.
- Functionality: Windshield wipers, windows, and horn.
- Hand Signals: Demonstrate left, right, and stop hand signals.
Questions: Feel free to ask the examiner any questions before starting.

Examiner Role: They will evaluate your ability to drive safely, smoothly, and in control. They are not there to trick you.
Instructions:
- Follow any directions given (e.g., turn left, right, change lanes, pull over).
- If no instruction is given, adhere to the speed limit and road rules.
Manoeuvres:
- Check mirrors, turn signals, and perform shoulder checks before each action.
- At green lights, advance slightly without steering wheels to avoid being pushed into traffic if rear-ended.
Pull Overs & Parks:
- Demonstrate hill parking techniques:
  - Downhill with curb: Turn wheels towards the curb.
  - Downhill without curb: Turn wheels towards the shoulder.
  - Uphill without curb: Turn wheels towards the shoulder.
  - Uphill with curb: Turn wheels towards the center of the road.

Hazard Perception: You may be asked to identify road hazards.
Feedback: The examiner will discuss your performance:
- Passing: Congratulations, you are now a novice driver.
- Failing: Understand reasons for failure and areas for improvement.
