can an organization cultivate and strengthen it in this video I will discuss these questions with you section one five Dimensions there are five key dimensions of organizational citizenship behavior number one altruism this Dimension involves helping others in the organization with their tasks or problems it includes acts of kindness assistance and support provided to colleagues number two conscientiousness employees who exhibit conscientious OCB go above and beyond to ensure the tasks are completed accurately and thoroughly they may take extra steps to to prevent problems and ensure the quality of work number three sportsmanship this Dimension refers to an employees ability to maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a positive work environment it involves being a good team player avoiding unnecessary conflicts and fostering a Cooperative atmosphere number four civic virtue employees who display civic virtue engage in activities that contribute to the political life of the organization this may include attending meetings staying informed about organizational changes and actively participating in decision-mak processes number five courtesy courtesy OCB involves demonstrating politeness respect and consideration toward others in the workplace this can include behaviors such as being friendly showing empathy and practicing good manners section two benefits OCB is important for the following reasons number one enhanced organizational performance OC CB goes beyond the formal job requirements and employees who engage in these discretionary behaviors contribute several strategies to enhance OCB within an organization number one leadership role modeling leaders should model the behaviors they want to see when leaders exhibit OCB it sets a positive tone for the entire organization and encourages employees to follow suit number two clear communication clearly communicate expectations regarding both formal job responsibilities and discretionary behaviors make it known that OCB is valued and recognized within the organization number three recognition and rewards Implement recognition programs that specifically acknowledge and reward employees for engaging in OCB this can include Employee of the Month Awards public acknowledgements or other forms of recognition number four employee involvement create avenues for employees to be involved in decision-making processes and organizational initiatives when employees feel their input is valued they are more likely to demonstrate civic virtue and engage in OCB number five promote work life balance ensure that employees have a reasonable workload and a healthy work life balance when employees feel supported and valued they are more likely to reciprocate with positive behaviors including
