okay you have seen the daughter now you're going to see the father okay it's the other way around today okay our speaker today is uh none other than Pastor Jeremy hris he has been a full-time faster yes let's give him a hand he's been a full-time Pastor for 16 years I think in fga um uh of course the greatest uh qualification he need to speak today I think he's a great father of two to Nicole and sorry wife is not here the wife is Nicole my apologies okay Tiffany and odelia that's what happens you put me up here on Father's Day okay uh he is also the Zone Pastor for Zone 2 uh on top of uh pastoring all the home fellowship in zone two he also pastors The Zone core team okay that includes me okay and we are very glad to have him as our Zone Pastor uh you know it's always good to have a pastor that you can call your friend and this is my friend my pastor of course my zone Pastor as well let's open our hearts today and listen to the word of God from Pastor [Applause] Jeremy thank you Isaac good morning church you know the song we just sang um fathers are heroes when I was young I remember when I was young uh in my I think early secondary I think was when I was 12 years old we had an assignment to do uh and one of this assignment was to write uh they put a too CLA uh means your you have to choose somebody that you're going to write about that you look up to and um a lot of my classmates their fathers were some of them were famous writers they were quite some of them quite well to do there are somebody somebody in the in the in the world some of them I had even one friend whose father was a minister you know and I was thinking if I'm going to write about my father my father is not really anybody he's not anybody that is recognized he's not somebody who who is well off financially he's not somebody who has been contributing to the community he's not somebody who is uh known by other people so how do I write about my father being my hero if nobody knows him but I know him you know I know him and and my father while he is not somebody who has been uh accomplished in the community but when he when it comes to his family he has always provided to for his family I remember when I was much younger my father used to work in bangi if you know where bangi is and we used to stay in malaka and all my father had was a motorcycle he will go to work every day and every week he will be in in bangi and every Friday he will come back on his motorcycle to ensure he can spend time with the family then on Sunday night and Monday morning he will make his way back back to bang to work you know and because he needed to provide and eventually he Sav enough he bought a car uh proton KN if I'm not mistaken and then we all moved and rented a house in bang to stay his whole concept was always that the family is together you know he loved the family and and he demonstrated his love in his action in always wanting the family to be together and then and that's what I wrote in my project paper you know how much my father put uh in in all his tiresome in all all the things that he did that he always put the family first that he poured out his love and today we're going to look at that today we're looking at the Father's Love we're going to look at the portion of scripture of a father who loves his daughter I have two daughters incidentally I yes my wife is Nicole she's not my daughter um I'm sure she'll be happy to hear that you s she as my daughter she looks young then she apologies she has to be in a camp a school Camp um and I have two daughters in case didn't know my younger daughter is odelia odelia you can stand because they have not seen you yet you know and and this story is about a father who has a 12-year-old daughter you know and while the story is about a father how the father's action I think all of us can emulate it is something for each and every one of us just incidentally it he is a father you know and I think that the title of my message today is called from desperation to Faith Faith you know and um how do how does this uh father named gyrus walk from the place of desperation into faith and how can we as uh Believers know uh come into that place of desperation all the way to Faith let's read this portion of scripture I'm just going to read to you the first uh three verses for today uh later on we might see we're going to read the later part of the verses to work okay when Jesus had again crossed over by boat to the other side of the lake a large crowd gathered around him while he was by the lake then one of the synagogue leaders named gyrus came and when he saw Jesus he fell at his feet he pleaded earnestly with him my little daughter is dying please come and put your hands on her so that she may be healed and live so Jesus went with him let us pray father Lord we look to you this morning we pray that your presence will just minister to us this morning oh Lord God even as we look into the text even as we look into your scriptures we pray that your words will come alive to each and every one of us that you will minister to us just as how you ministered to gyrus Lord God and his family that today you will minister to each and every one of us and that your word will just Minister life to all of us Lord in Jesus name we pray amen you know one thing that we see in this passage know we know that gyus has a daughter who is critically ill and the first thing he does you know and then the first point for today is a desperate plea know in mark 22:23 it says the man called gyus he is a synagogue leader he's a synagogue leader which means he's somebody who's respectable he's somebody in the community you know and for him to come to Jesus Jesus was just a merely a rabbi at that time right you know of course the the the Pharisees didn't like him uh all those who are in power didn't like him because Jesus started to gain favor but here is gyrus who is on the opposite end of of Jesus as well yeah and and and he comes to Jesus and he falls at his feet and that is a sign of desperation falling at somebody's feet crying out for help is a clear sign of desperation he was desperate to save his daughter you know and and while he was a synagogue leader he cast aside his position he cast aside his position it takes a big deal for somebody in in in in position to lower themselves down to to be humble enough to bow down not just to bow down but to fall on his knees and that's what he did and and not just he fall on his knees he pleaded earnestly to Jesus he says my little daughter is dying come and put your hands on her so she will live you know gyrus put aside every single dignity that he had to plead with Jesus and he did this not in private yeah he didn't do this in private he did this in public the passage said there was a crowd there was a crowd that was gathering uh with Jesus in verse 21 he said there was a crowd there Gathering with Jesus and gyus did not choose a private moment to reach out to Jesus he chose a public moment because it was urgent he could not wait it was an urgent matter he it was an urgent matter you know and and and all that he did actually took a lot of Courage it takes a lot of courage to do this in public to lower down yourself to kneel on the ground and and ple with someone imagine if elderly suddenly comes and you of course he won't do that today I know he comes and and fall Downs at somebody at your feet and started to plead with you earnestly you'll be thinking oh he must be really desperate correct he must be really desperate and and gyrus was really desperate but he had the courage to put down his pride to put down his position and come to Jesus you know in I like this quote it says from um Nelson Mandela say courage is not the absence of fear but the triumph over it now he had triumphed over his fear of his pride he had Triumph because he was in that such a desperate situation that all of this matter not to him his only concern at that time was the welfare of his daughter because he loved his daughter he truly loved his daughter and and his only concern is how can my daughter be safe how can she be healed you know when we go through our own challenges whether it's for ourself or for our family members how desperate are we when we cry out unto God how desperate are we no do we really fall on our knees and and cry out to God God save me save my situation save my family save my career do we do it in desperation do we give a desperate cry unto God or we just know I just come to church and ask somebody else to pray for us and just say I got this problem and then that's it know sometimes we we in in I I noticed that when when we are in that place of desperation somehow our prayer grows stronger I I cannot explain why no but when you come into that place of desperation your prayer goes stronger because your heart is sincere when you cry out in desperation God is able to see the sincerity of your heart it shows you that it shows that you now no longer depend on your own strength but now you are out of wits you're out of solutions you only thing you can do is say God I cannot do anything else but to depend on you but to depend on you jyrus could have possibly hired the best doctors in that place of course there not much doctors at the time but he could have hired the best doctors that they had whoever they wanted and and and and try to treat his do his daughter but he knew that all of this is not going to work he was at the end he didn't know what else to do but just to cry out to Jesus he recognized Jesus as someone who has Authority someone who is a able to perform Miracles are we recognizing Jesus as someone who is able to bring us out of our our desperate situations are we desperate for his need uh for his help for his touch for an encounter with him I think that's the key for us coming out of our struggles now if you have a challenge in your life right now that is the attitude we need to come and take and say God I need your touch I need an encounter I am desperate for you to intervene in my situation we need to be desperate for God's help and we need to put aside all our pride all our position know sometime as pastors um I mean I'm I'm a pastor and it's hard for a pastor to go and ask for prayer actually how many times you see the pastor come up for alter call normally you don't see right very you see a pastor coming out for alter call it is hard for a pastor to come out for alter call because for us we feel that uh you know I'm supposed to be praying for people so how can I be prayed for yeah but um us pastors have problems as well yeah we also have struggles and I remember in 2019 uh I have a father my father is still alive just in case youall are wondering later um in 2015 my father had a heart attack in 2015 yeah then he went for bypass uh then he's he was healed in about 6 months he starting to move normal and everything but in 2019 on Easter Day 2019 on Easter day we just finished service here and I get a call and and the call is to say that my father has just had a stroke yeah this is Easter Easter is about resurrection and imagine getting a call on Easter just after you finish service about God rising up now God provid providing salvation for all of us and I hear that my father is in critical I mean he's had a stroke and he's on his way in an ambulance to the hospital you know and and and I immediately I just took my car and I drove down back to malaka and my family went back on their own and I drove down back to Mala and I think that was the longest 2H hour plus actually here to malaka is only one and a half hours yeah but it was the longest two hours Journey back to malaka yeah it was not that it was traffic it is just that I was so unfocused so unfocused I just couldn't focus on on on um my driving I was just crying out to God I was in that place of desperation no I cried out desperately I said God you have to do something you know and I was so desperate I was I was so focused on praying that I lost I I missed the entry into the You Know M there's two Junction one is alaja one is aicro I miss both both Junction I miss and I just went he I'm already heading towards joho you know and I had to uturn and and and hence it took 2 hours plus to reach to Mala I was supposed to reach earlier but instead I reached much later because I was in that place of desperation my whole Focus was just saying God I cannot deal with this I need you to intervene I need you to intervene you know when I reach the hospital I actually noticed that my father was not too bad he was he still able to move both hands and legs he was on the wheelchair his face was slightly disfigured but he was okay and then they watered him into the we took several hours before uh they put him into the W uh and at night when we went back we get another call that he had another stroke yeah and and and this time because earlier they said there was some blood CL and this time it says this lot and then he was now half paralyzed fully half paralyzed really couldn't move at all anything on the left side and and and they wanted to do a surgery on on him to remove the blood but there was no brain surgeon in Mala yeah so the only option they say they drive him with an ambulance to klb then I asked the question how dangerous it is to drive someone who has all of this condition to to KL there's a 2-hour drive you know but if there's traffic even if you ambulance so you've got traffic still got traffic and then they said the risk is higher so we said no we would rather that he stays here and allow him to heal uh and plus because of his age it is not an has high risk so we say actually it was a place of real battle Yeah and and and I took off and I just stayed with my family in MAA and we were just crying out to God because my father was in that place of um my father is also a very prideful father he's he has this this place of that he's always a very independent and because now he has this this stroke that he cannot function he wanted to kill himself so every time he will try to roll over to fall you know and and and so much so that the nurse had to tie him so he is being tied to the bait although you can move half you still can move you know and his determination to to to to to commit suicide was very high that that he actually almost at the age when the nurse realize and then and eventually they start to tie him and put all the bars up tie it and to make sure that he doesn't do that and that that happened for the first week the whole first week that was his mindset because he had given up he had given up but we stayed we prayed for him we prayed for him you know and and I will continue this story in a while longer and then this story continues on in gyus know gyrus pleaded with Jesus because he knew his daughter was in that place that she had no more hope but Jesus but no I I I called this part longsuffering I wanted to put patience but I felt longsuffering was a better word to describe because in this whole process suddenly there was another interval that takes place you know if you go back and read the passage I won't read to you the passage but in this whole passage suddenly there is this woman with 12E blood issue comes and and and and and touch Jesus cloak and all this Jus was there you know waiting for Jesus Jesus is going with him right and all that Jus heard suddenly Jesus crying out who touched my cloak who touched my cloak and Jus be wondering what are you talking about I'm sure with all the disciples and all the people around him but jarus would also be wondering what is Jesus talking about everybody is touching your cloak everybody is squeezing towards you and Jesus continued to ask who touched my cloak and if I was gyus at that moment I'll be thinking what is wrong with Jesus I have an urgent matter my daughter needs to be healed why don't you come and follow me now why are you stopping to ask who touched your cloak but you notice that the Bible did not say that gyrus complained the Bible never mentioned that gyrus complain I'm sure he was there suffering thinking when can Jesus move when can we go but he did not do anything he just waited patiently in suffering deep down he would have been suffering my daughter is going to die and yet we are here because Jesus is trying to find out who touch his clothes who touch his cloak you know and often times when we go through our own Challenge and we start to cry out to God and we realize that the answer doesn't come instantly most of the time the answer doesn't come instantly and we start to get impatient unlike gyrus we start to get impatient we start to complain God where are you why are you not answering my prayer why have you not healed my parents why have you not healed my father why you have not healed my daughter why am I still in this situation we start to complain no but gyrus waited patiently in his suffering he waited patiently while yes he was suffering inside he was hurting inside I guarantee you that as a father I know when when you sense that something is not right with your daughter you will feel terrified you will feel terrified and he was terrified but he waited patiently until Jesus resolved that issue but it would have taken some time can we come into that place of allowing while yes we are in that place of desperation we are crying out to God and say God I am desperate for your touch but are we able to stay in that place and say God I leave it up to you I leave it up to you in your timing it's difficult definitely it's difficult when it's an urgent matter but we have to accept that God doesn't move according to our timing he moves according to his timing no and and and I was talking about my father and the first week know we we prayed as a family with my wife and my with my sister and my brother and his and her husband as well we prayed every day we pray that God will heal him first that God will give him the will to live you know so every day we would read scripture my especially my wife would read scripture to my father know and and eventually after the second week he started to be a little bit less uh what do you call that suicidal I I will put the word suicidal you know and and and eventually after the second week they remov all the the tying and he didn't do any silly things and and even then he was still paralyzed he was still paralyzed but we could communicate with him through uh the technology that we have like you know we can draw on on on tablets and all those things on paper and and and and and he keep mentioning that it's a dark figure dark figure in the in the hospital and and we had to pray over him we teach him how to pray you know we teach him to to just uh in his mind recite the script he couldn't talk we just communicate through through through drawings and and and and eventually he said that he doesn't see it anymore know but it was still a journey a long journey we had to go through a long journey he he was discharged about 3 weeks after know and then we had to figure out how to bring him to the house how to get the nurses to come to care for him in the house you know and and over a month plus he was in the house uh immobile everything we had to do for him you know and then it was a long journey we prayed for healing but he wasn't healed immediately it took some time and in all that time it took us a lot of time effort and energy spent in caring for my father as a family and I'm sure some of you have been through those kind of situations as well where you care for your elderly parents or even your young kids who are who are in this kind of situation it takes a lot of time and we cry out to God and say God do something but something doesn't happen that something doesn't take place we are still stuck in saying God I will wait we will continue to pray the one thing we must never do is give up on God never give up on God never give up on praying never give up on interceding never give up on crying out to God for his intervention we don't know when he's going to intervene we don't know how he's going to intervene but continue to pray continue to be patient continue to endure and cry out to God that's what gyrus did he endured it was an urgent matter but he endured and he waited until Jesus was ready to move but by the time Jesus was ready to move we will continue to read the rest of the scripture in Mark 35-42 said while Jesus was speaking some people came from the house of gyrus the synagogue leader my your daughter is dead they said why bother the teacher anymore over hearing what they said Jesus told him Don't Be Afraid just believe they did not he did not let anyone follow him except Peter James and John and the brother of James James and John the brother of James when they come to the home of the synagogue leader Jesus saw a commotion where people crying and wailing loudly so imagine just imagine gyus going through this whole situation yeah he gets a news that his daughter is dead now and yet now he's walking back home it's a long journey home I think that was his longest journey back home because he already received that the the daughter is dead and the and the verse continues he went in and said to them why all this commotion and wailing the child is not dead but asleep this is Jesus talking but they laugh at him after he put all of them out he took the child's father and mother and the disciples who were with him and went in there where the child was he took her by the hand and said to her talita Kum which means little girl I say to you get up immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around she was 12 years old and at this they were completely astonished as I said gyrus took a long walk back and the only thing that kept him going was a firm Faith because he received the news that his daughter is dead if we receive a news that our sibling Our Father our parent our child is dead we would have given up hope which means all the thing that we've been praying for that is the end that is the end death is the end and for most of us that will be the end but Jesus comforted him and Jesus gave him the word Don't Be Afraid just believe and I think that's what gyrus hung on to the word that Jesus gave him but even in receiving that word it still took him a lot of faith to believe in that word even though we may receive a word from God that our situation will be resolved let's say somebody comes and pray and say and and gives you a prophecy this will take place it is still a difficult Journey we still have to keep that Faith the journey that gyrus took back home was indeed a very very long journey home and then when he reached home all he sees is people crying and wailing you only see people crying and wailing when somebody has passed away when something disastrous has taken place and in Jus mind he would have been yes this confirms my daughter is dead but yet he still follows Jesus in that place of of of sadness of desperation of of completely lost there is still that slight hope that he hung on to cuz Jesus said [Music] believe a small slitter of hope that he never let go and he continued to follow Jesus and of course we know in the end Jesus resurrects of course Jesus said that the daughter is not sleeping sorry not dead but sleeping but Jesus brings back his daughter to life you know and then when we go through our place of struggle when it seems like hope is almost gone we need to hang on to God's word we need to hang on to his promises because that is what will keep us firm in our faith we must not be shaken we must not be moved we must never give up hope never give up hope no and and my father as he went back um you know normally people would people told us that you know it takes about 6 months Dr is it correct Dr is it correct about 6 months for somebody to at least recover and be mobile again yeah 3 to 6 months and when my father reached home in the first month that he was back he started to already move in the second month he was already able to move his legs and bodies in the third month he was able to walk himself to go for his own checkup God answered prayer but in all of this it is not about my father's healing that actually what be hang on to the most you see my father while he was a person who always looked for the family and cared for the family he would make us go to to church but down the years my father grew cold you know and and for him church is just a Sunday thing uh when when to go we go but when he experienced this now every day we go home he will always be spending time on YouTube looking at this sermon that sermon looking to this song he is now trying to see who God is's he's searching for God even more no and for us is that reconnection of him and God and I think most of my family members also came into that place of reconnection with God and I think that is the biggest thing that we encounter not about just the healing the healing was the most important thing at that time but the healing of the Soul was even greater you know and and as we go through challenges now sometimes the thing that we pray for now I wanted God to heal my father instantly actually because I got no time to be traveling up and down you know it's selfish selfish thinking right you know the the the trouble of going down almost three times a week uh is is is challenging I wanted God to heal my father faster so that my family can move on everybody can move on everybody can be happy you know that's all our wish right every time something happens we want immediate breakthrough but God answered it in a very different way in his own timing and sometimes the thing that we pray for may not even come to pass know sometimes we are we can coming to that place where we encounter a struggle and we cry out to God we say God come and and and and heal come and touch come and change the situation and yet after that long suffering after keeping our faith what we actually desire doesn't happen according to our plans now I I can guarantee you one thing while I cannot guarantee that God will answer your prayer according to your requests but I guarantee you you will encounter him you will encounter him now even though you may not receive that answer that you were seeking but you will still encounter God in that place that you are searching even in death God will still be able to give you an encounter to change your situation to change you so in all our challenges never stop crying out to God never stop being patient to receive his touch and always keep on to your faith you know the the biggest challenge in faith is always taking that first step I think last week uh brother Isaac talks about the lamb you know God only shows you a certain path in the same manner you know we faith is like taking that first step even when you don't see the whole staircase if you only see if the light is lted up and you only see two or three staircase you don't know where it's leading to but it's taking that first step and as you take you will start to see more and more and more being revealed and this whole story about gyrus is a about him holding on unto the words that Christ gave him just believe just believe this is a father who was desperate but is also a father who had faith in the power of Jesus we can be desperate people we can be struggling with issues but I pray that each and every one of us will come into that place face of holding on unto the faith that God has given to each and every one of us you know we have a God who loves us can I invite the worship team up we'll sing the song good good father no we have a we have a God the Father who truly loves you he truly loves you he wants what is best for each and every one of us no father wants what is worse for their children and we have a father in Heaven who wants what is best for us what is best for us does not mean answering all our prayers what is best for us is answering our prayers according to what he knows best and this morning know each of us will have our own challenges each of us will have our own struggles that we are facing but God wants us to come into that place of crying out to him saying God I need you I need your touch I need an encounter with you there are things that I just cannot comprehend there are things that I just cannot deal with Lord God unless you step in into the situation so let's put away our pride put away all our pride sometimes we are so afraid to to seek help from God because we feel that what if I come up to the front to be prayed for and somebody looks at me and say why this fellow going to be prayed for what is wrong with him let me tell you nobody looks at that nobody looks at who is coming up to be prayed for and why they being prayed for we are all here to be receiving an encounter with God every time we come into God's presence presence we want to encounter him and this morning is no different God is saying he wants to meet you at your point of need at your point of illnesses at your point of struggles he wants to touch you yes you may not receive instantly or you may receive instantly we never know but he wants to give you an encounter he wants to minister to you he wants to make a change in your situation in your life can we all stand this morning we're going to sing this song good good father know and and allow God to just speak to each and every one of us to know that there is a God who loves us who loves us and as we cry out unto him he will stretch out his hands to touch [Music] thousands stories oh what they think you're like Li her then a Whisper Of Love he uned tell me that you're pleased and I never alone you're a good good father who you are who you are who you are and I love by you who I am who I am who I am [Music] I see many searching for an far and wide I know we're all searching for aners only you proide us you know just what we need before we say the world you're a good good father who you are it's who you are it's who you are and I love by you who I am it's who I am it's who I am you're a good father who you are who you are it's who you are and I love by you it's who I am it's who I am it's who I am you're a good good father who you are who you are who you are and I love by you who I am [Music] church this morning God wants to speak and minister to each and every one of us I just want to if you have you are going through a challenging time in your life at this moment you're going through a situation when you know that you need God's touch because he knows who you are he knows your needs he knows the challenge and he knows the answers as well I want to invite you to come to the front and say God I need that touch this morning oh Lord God I need that encounter with you oh Lord God even as we sing that song once again just calm and say God come and meet me in my point of need know and allow God to just minister to you it is not about the pastors the elders or the leaders that is praying for you but it's you encountering God and His presence so as we sing the altar is open come to the front and allow God to just meet with you and minister to you we see this love is so undeniable so undeniable [Music] I can hardly sing Peace So unexplainable Li I can hardly as you call me deeper still as you call me deeper still as you call me deeper feeling love as you call me deeper still as you call deeper still as you call me deeper still into love love as you call me de deeper still as you call deeper still as you call me deeper still into love [Music] love while we are continue to just Minister just to inform you that there's a slight typo there it's Mark 530 the zero has gone missing in case you are taking notes I just to take note as well and I I invite elderly to pray upon each and every one of us and also to give us the benediction this morning is very special you have triple blessing blessing from our children children's choir blessing from Tiffany our pastor Jeremy's daughter and then we had the message from the father from the heart we have not heard from him for a long time so I think it's appropriate that we pray for pastor Jeremy the Lord's anointing be upon him as a father and as a pastor that we will hear many more messages from him in the future and a wonderful testimony about a journey on his father I had a similar Journey back when my mother went through a stroke nonetheless this opportunity you want to pray for pastor Jeremy then I will pray for all the fathers here this morning both biological Earthly and spiritual fathers and I pray for all of you let's pray stretch off our hand to bless Pastor Jeremy oh Lord Our Father in heaven we want to thank you for dear brother Pastor Jeremy Lord God you have raised him up father as a father and Lord as a wonderful son and we thank you for sharing the journey father Lord about what the father went through not only that he got healed but most important Lord to know that you have brought the family Beyond father the healing of a father to put you first in everything and to trust you with all their hearts and lean on their own understanding and that in all their ways they shall acknowledge you and give you thanks so Lord bless all fathers here this morning who are here father because God you have brought them here before you to receive that wonderful testimony and message to Pastor Jeremy and Lord is not my chance father a received you as personal Lord and Savior God we pray even now father through the testimony and the message God they shall come to acknowledge you as their personal Lord and Savior and now Lord as we bring this service to a close we ask of thy blessing to be upon us as you dismiss us with your blessing bless us and keep us oh God make thy face shine upon us and be gracious to us turn thy face toward us and give us father the blessing as we go forth the blessing of the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ the love of you oh God our ABA father Father in heaven and The Fellowship of the Holy Spirit
