This lecture introduces the seven continents of the world, highlighting their key features, notable countries, and famous attractions.

The Seven Continents

  • The seven continents are Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe, and Australia.
  • Continents are large land masses found on Earth, listed from largest to smallest by area.

Asia

  • Asia is the largest and most populous continent, with over four billion people and 48 countries.
  • It is bordered by the Pacific, Indian, and Arctic Oceans.

South America

  • South America has 12 countries.
  • Bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the west and Atlantic Ocean to the east.
  • Amazon River is the largest by volume; Angel Falls is the highest waterfall.
  • Atacama Desert is the driest place; Amazon Basin is the largest rainforest.

Antarctica

  • Antarctica is ice-covered, surrounded by the Southern Ocean.
  • It is the windiest, driest, and least populated continent; no permanent residents.
  • Emperor penguins are native to Antarctica.

Europe

  • Europe has 50 countries and is the third most populous continent.

Australia (Oceania)
