Overview
This guide explains strategies and mechanics for beating Night 3 in Five Nights at Freddy’s 3, focusing on handling Springtrap and the various Phantom animatronics.
General Strategy for Night 3
- Use the "Springtrap Trap" by keeping Springtrap in Cam 10 as long as possible.
- Lure Springtrap room by room with audio, starting from his current position toward Cam 10.
- Seal Cam 14's vent to prevent Springtrap from accessing the office directly.
Phantom Animatronics Behavior & Counters
- Only Phantom Foxy can spawn before 1 AM; others (Phantom Freddy, Chica, BB, Mangle) become active later.
- Phantom Foxy appears after long or rapid monitor use; counter by slowly panning left in the office and briefly checking for him.
- Phantom BB only appears on Cams 1, 7, 9, and 10; switching cams, closing the monitor, toggling the map, or refreshing the current cam can avoid his jump scare.
- Phantom Mangle is limited to Cam 4; avoid this cam entirely.
- Phantom Chica is limited to Cam 7; only check this cam if necessary.
- Phantom animatronic jump scare reaction times decrease by 0.1 seconds each night, starting at 1.0 seconds on Night 1 and down to 0.5 seconds on Night 6.
- Aggressive mode does not affect reaction times.
Dealing with Phantom Freddy
- Phantom Freddy occasionally walks past the window; do not look directly at him to avoid a jump scare.
- If you hear a static sound cue, it could indicate Phantom Freddy or Springtrap nearby; put down the monitor and check for Freddy.
- The cue grows louder as Springtrap gets closer, helping track his position.
Additional Tips & Recap
- Don’t stare at Phantom Freddy; only glance to check his presence.
- Be ready to quickly exit camera view if BB or Mangle appears.
- Avoid unnecessary checks of Cams 4 and 7 to limit run-ins with Mangle and Chica.
- Focus on keeping Springtrap in Cam 10; if he escapes, only Cam 14 vent needs sealing.
- Phantom Puppet activates only on Night 4.
Recommendations / Advice
- Practice fast camera reaction to reduce risk from phantom animatronics.
- Use audio strategically and seal vents preemptively only if Springtrap escapes Cam 10.
- Monitor sound cues to anticipate threats and avoid unnecessary jump scares.
