class is in session and you better pay attention because you're about to learn more today about what it takes to be a top grade student than any of your teachers ever taught you at 16 years old I finished school with Straight A's in my final exams and that was after three consistent years of being a straight C student I am not joking when I say I had to put in so much work just to be able to get the same marks as the kids who weren't even studying I was not naturally academically gifted whatsoever but I still finished with Straight A's because I finally perfected my strategy I also graduated University with a first class degree after being stuck on a 21 for years especially because I had the worst study schedule you could imagine it wasn't until I finally created the ultimate consistent routine in my final year that got me top marks and in this video I'm going to share all of my secrets before we start don't forget I have my podcast linked Below in the description it's called self-obsessed and it has exclusive self-help content teaching you all of the secrets on how to be obsessed with yourself so that you can level up your life Life as a result I also have my Instagram Snapchat and Tik Tok link below along with my second Channel where you can see how I Implement all of the advice I give into my life in this video I'm going to talk a lot about procrastination time management and you can see how I Implement those techniques in real time over on that channel chapter number one evidence-based study hacks I have tried and tested literally every single study hack you can imagine because I just spent years of My Teenage life trying to learn the best ways to revise and I tried and failed it so many so I've compared a list of the ones that work best and what nobody tells you is to firstly start with understanding what type of learner you are there are actually four different types of learning styles so you can be visual auditory reading and writing or kinesthetic I personally am a visual learner this means when I'm studying I use diagrams mind maps I really try to make my notes look artsy and Visually attractive I invest in using colored pens and better stationery if I was doing a mind map I would actually replace repl certain words with little diagrams so if I was talking about historical figure I would draw a little picture of them I would draw a picture of an apple instead of writing the word Apple Because by the time I was setting the exam if I had to remember a paragraph of information because I'm a visual learner I could remember where the Mind map was placed in my bedroom and which sentence I was trying to remember where it was specifically laid out on that mind map and in what color if you an auditory learner then you need to hear things you need them to be repeated back to you and you'll be able to play lessons back in your head if you are a kinesthetic learner then you learn by doing you need to demonstrate you need to use your hands and a really great learning technique for this is actually something I was going to explain on its own because it's such a great way to memorize information and this is teaching the information to somebody else you now need to take on the role of the teacher and act like you are teaching this information to a six-year-old that is one of the most efficient ways to learn because you need to gain a level of understanding where you could teach it to somebody who has no idea about it and explain it in your own words not just recite something from a textbook and and then as for reading and writing that explains itself and for that I would actually recommend the blurting method which we're going to talk about a little bit later step number two the internet is your best friend because let me tell you schoolwork and teacher given advice is the bare minimum of the student world when I was a student I remember I was consistently stuck on C's and B's and I didn't understand why I wasn't getting ahead and that wasn't until I discovered YouTube there are so many people out there that will focus on a specific subject at specific level there were loads of GCS YouTubers in my case English literature I really struggled with so they would take the exact same book I was learning in my class and annotate it at an a start level and teachers their only concern is to teach you the material they don't teach you essay structure examination structure and strategy YouTubers well I also really struggled with maths so I signed up to KH Academy and this is where they really break down how to do maths in a way that your teacher probably wouldn't another platform I used was up learn I used this at a levels because I absolutely hated economics and I did not understand a single word my teacher was saying my grade literally went from a d i was failing economics to an A in my mock exams insane really with this step you just need to prioritize learning from other students because they actually know what they're talking about they know how we process information and how it's going to stick in our heads I am an example of this I struggled in uni for years and I have a whole video on my YouTube channel on how you can get a first class degree at University because I tried and failed at perfecting my essay structure and that video has helped so many people no Professor I ever had spoke about the technique you needed to use when writing an essay learn from other students online this links into the third step which is different techniques for different classes our teachers emphasized the importance of memorization and they were setting us up for failure you spend hours on end reading and studying and memorizing but still failing why because you're not working smarter my school personally gave us textbooks that were too long and revision guides that were too basic and didn't allow us to get the top marks in in the class so like I said I used the internet to my advantage I learned what people who had finished school and gotten the top marks were using this is when I came across a French website I'm pretty sure it was called memorize but I actually can't remember anymore this was a flash card website that taught me more vocabulary in three days than I had learned at school in a whole year when I was struggling in English literature there were teachers on YouTube who were getting millions of views because they were showing students the correct annotation technique and what an AAR level analysis of the book would look like for math my different technique wasn't memorization it was using past examination papers which I would download not only from my school website but other school websites I did this at University as well I went to University of Leicester I was on the Manchester uni website downloading their past dissertation papers and looking at the examiner remarks loads of Unis loads of schools have these available and you need to download as many as you can to actually practice what it's like to put that information into an exam structure not just be be able to recite it at the top of your head and then for Science and History I did use memorization I personally used a lot of flashcards and mind maps because I'm a visual learner you guys can actually take a test online to learn what kind of learner you are I've got it linked Below in the description and once you figure out let's say your kinesthetic then I want you to Google kinesthetic learner revision methods and then you're going to start implementing all of them this links into step four memorizing information flashcards were my savior because they're portable you take them with you everywhere and when it was time for my final exams I had a pack of flash cards in my bag that I would take everywhere if I was going to dinner with my family I was going through all my flash cards in the car active recall is so important and this is where a lot of Us slip up we'll spend 3 hours one day memorizing information cool I can recite it easy that information is still in your short-term memory and in order to shift information from your short-term memory to your long-term memory you need to repeatedly practice it at spaced out intervals so this means if you study something on Saturday you need to pick up those spash cards again on the Tuesday practice them again again Thursday practice them again constantly make sure it's consistent another really easy way to do this is flashcard apps Quizlet is really good because people will make flash cards for you and you can just use theirs I personally used an app called anky when I was doing my a levels and that helped me so much you just write it up that means you don't have to carry anything anywhere and if you're ever stuck on a bus or a train you can be studying no excuses the reason that flash cards work so well is because it helps you with active recall and one thing that I did to also help you with this because of a visual learner is I made all my not not I made my mind maps but then I stuck them up with blue tag on all of my bedroom walls like you walked into my bedroom when I was 16 years old there was just studying all on the walls and I would take little sticky notes and we had to memorize quotes for English literature I'd write down a quote I'd stick it on the inside of my wardrobes I'd stick it next to my bathroom mirror I'd stick it in my makeup drawer every single day when I was doing my morning routine or just going about my day if I came across a note I had to read it close my eyes and then try to recite it that is such an effortless way of once again practicing active recall the next step is to time everything you do this is so important because the most common obstacle we experience is we give ourselves infinite time to do something and then we complain like oh why do I procrastinate and I sit down to study but then I just start daydreaming because where's the cut off point where's the deadline at that's exactly why when you know you have a test du tomorrow you go to the library you get it done in 3 hours and you're like wow I didn't take a break or procrastinate once and you need to implement that same practice every single day so let's say you wake up at 8:00 a.m. on a Saturday to study by 9:00 a.m. you need to have done all your friend flash cards by 10:00 a.m. you need to have written out all of your math formulas and you need to structure your day exactly like that because then you know if I procrastinate and if I scroll on my phone the rest of my day is ruined then I'm behind on everything and it's this constant pressure to quickly finish and then the key is to also time block a section of your evening as a reward so you know if I stick to my hourly blocks of every single subject by 600 p.m. the rest of the day is all mine and that's motivation that will push you further but it's also enough pressure to make sure that you're focused with this method you need to be scheduling everything I mean even your 30 minute lunch break the time you're going to take to get ready to have breakfast so when you open your calendar or your schedule you know time is associated with everything but as I'm saying this I also just want to emphasize time isn't important in the sense that you have to study 12 hours every single day in order to be a good student because I know people who did that and still didn't get an A it's about working smarter and not harder the rule that you should be following if you manage your time effectively is 8 hours to study 8 hours to sleep and then 8 hours to do whatever the hell you want studying more than 8 hours you're not even going to be focused anymore so if you implement the advice I've already given which is figuring out what type of learner you are figuring out what your strategy is for every subject that means the studying you're doing is effective and then on top of that the studying that you're doing you're also using active recall meaning that it's staying in your memory as well there's no reason you need to be going past 8 hours and then the last study technique that I'm going to share is called the blurting method which I mentioned before you can also use flashcards for this as well or read or if you're an auditory listener you get your voice memos on your phone you say all of the information you hear over and over however you want to read or absorb information you do that for 30 minutes once you've done that you're going to put away your textbook your phone your mind maps your flash cards get out a fresh piece of paper and you are going to write down every single thing you remember for 30 minutes try to remember as much as you can then once you've done that you're going to go back to your notes and then in a different colored pen you are going to write down all of the information you missed and then now that you know what you're struggling with and what's not staying in your brain you're going to go and study that information then you're going to go back to another fresh piece of paper try and recite it all again and basically the goal is to repeat this process with every subject every day for an hour or so until there is no other colored pen on your paper because you're not missing anything out and now to sum up everything I've just said let's discuss how we can create the ultimate study schedule first of all we're going to start off with our subject based strategy based on the internet and not our teach teachers okay so you're going to figure out what is the best way I can learn French is it flash cards is it a website what is the best way I'm going to learn economics is it my textbook is it this YouTuber that talks about it is it another students video is it doing past papers and I want you to write down the strategy for every subject so you know the most efficient way to study once you figured all of that out it's time to grab your materials and sign up to your subscriptions so you might sign up to Upland to K Academy to quizzler whatever works for you grab your A3 paper and colored markers if you're a visual learner and you want to do mind maps buy some Flash cards then it's time for calendar scheduling which is the most important thing or you could use a planner notebook so this is where you're going to time block your day just as I said but a really good way to do this is by focusing on using the same parts of your brain every single day so let's say on Monday you're just going to go through your flash cards for every single subject on Tuesday you're just going to be doing past examination papers to practice what your exam technique is going to be like let's say on Wednesday you're going to be watching more YouTube videos to try and figure out what your English literature strategy is going to be and how to move from a c-grade analysis to an AAR analysis and then on Thursday you're going to go through flash cards again when you are using the same part of your brain you're less likely to procrastinate and you're more likely to enter a deep Flow State of work and then the last part for this schedule is my favorite so you're obviously going to write in all of the dates where you have your essay deadline or your exam and once you figured out okay let's say 30th of January you have an exam today is the 17th so on the 18th and 19th you're going to study on the 20th you're going to do an exam paper to prepare for that deadline on the 30th and you are going to take that deadline and figure out okay in order to meet it I need to have chapter 3 done by the 22nd I need to have chapter 5 done by the 24th but instead of working to the real deadline you're going to work to a fake deadline 3 to 4 days beforehand this way you're on top of your schedule you're allowing any emergencies because you never know what your schedule is going to do if you can't study one day so that means you're not having to fall behind and then if you do have those by a few days before the exam you can go over time to do a little bit of extra work a little bit more recall so that you can give yourself the best shot at the final thing and lastly for this chapter to do all of the things that I just mentioned you need to get yourself into a studying mood and the way that I accomplish this every single day was by using peer pressure now think about it we are influenced by what we consume every single day if you go on to Tik Tok and you see all of the girlies wearing that clean girl aesthetic headbands ad anola jumpers all of a sudden you want one when you see a bunch of people on YouTube talking about how a certain career path earns them more money you are now more influenced to research that career path and more likely to want to do it and act in that way to follow in their footsteps when everyone's posting Instagram stories of the Colleen Hoover books they're reading all of a sudden you're headed to the book store to buy one right so because our brain works in that way we're going to use that to our advantage so first step I need you to stop associating yourself with the people at your school who are like oh I didn't study I'm just going to leave it till the last minute because what you don't realize is you think you're not like them but the more you talk to them the more you surround yourself with them you might not not study like them but by being associated with those people you are going to lull yourself into this trap of comfort that you're going to think what you're doing is enough meanwhile there are other people out there that are going 10 times harder than you and you're not even realizing it because instead you're being negatively influenced and then the way to combat this is by using peer pressure so so my secret hack was every single day after school while I was unpacking my bag changing my clothes cleaning up my room a little bit to prepare for studying I had a YouTube video on in the background and it was this YouTuber called studying study IGN I don't know how to pronounce it but basically it's the word study and then IGN and that's all one word she doesn't make videos anymore you guys need to go back and watch her videos okay I would have it playing for 20 minutes this girl would just be videoing her studying her journal plan how she would organize all of her notes it was next level peer pressure I was like so influenced and then I had the most focused state of work for the next four to 5 hours and every single day I would watch one of her videos because it shifted my exposure to something more positive rather than all of the lazy people at school who made me think that I was overworking myself when really I wasn't doing anything special because if your routine every single day is to come home and watch Keeping Up with the Kardashians or scroll on Tik Tok and see everybody on their holidays what is really going to motivate you to study no one's pushing you no one else is doing it so you're not influenced to do it yourself which is why you need to shift your consumption for the period that you are studying and this leads us on to chapter number two consistency tips so here we're going to be talking about the importance of your routine the habits that create that routine and a few special tools that you can use in order to be consistent now firstly let's talk about the key to consistency which is getting 1% better every single day and then using achievable actions to be able to do this because your behavior is always influenced by your self-esteem so think about it if you wake up and your to-do list for studying all it is is to read one paragraph in a book you're going to wake up you're going to be chilling you're going to be like oh I can do that easy you're going to read the paragraph and then you know you have the rest of the day to do whatever it was easy it was achievable it didn't take that much time time and you knew you had the capability to do it now on the other hand imagine you woke up and in your to-do list was to study French for 4 hours Maths for 3 hours do two practice papers and practice a bunch of trigonometry of course you're going to prevent yourself from starting and that's because the cause of procrastination is actually your fear of failure this is why it's actually better to start studying earlier so that you can break up your tasks into smaller chunks and do those every single day rather than overwhelming Yourself by doing a bunch of stuff that you don't understand and this also links into multip routines the reason that you can't stay consistent is because you overwhelm yourself with the idea that you need to wake up with the same capabilities and energy every single day that is impossible okay you should not feel bad for not being able to do that some days we're going to wake up tired flustered stressed out and that's okay but we need to plan ahead for those days so I still implement this into my adult life now where I have three routines that I switch between depending on how I wake up that day and that just allows me to be consistent because at the end of the day you need to strive for completion not Perfection so when it comes to my morning routine for example I always want to work out but I don't always have the energy to work out so on those days I will alternate between either doing a full weightlifting session in the gym or just going for a walk or doing 20 minutes of cardio in my apartment using a YouTube exercise video that way every single day doesn't feel so difficult I can alter it towards my need and at the end of the day I still go to bed accomplished cuz I'm like hey I still did something to move myself closer towards my goal and you need to apply that same technique to your study routine this links into step number two making the task less icky is the number one best way to fight procrastination the reason that your brain switches off and all of a sudden you feel sleepy and overwhelmed and wanting to scroll on your phone is because the task is too overwhelming and difficult your brain is now in a process of doing fight or flight because it naturally has this instinct to seek out ease and comfort and so now it's your responsibility to create comfort and ease around your task so you're more likely to do it and this is where the three minute rule will save you the 3 minute rule means that if you have a task all you have to do is say to yourself just do it for 3 minutes open your laptop start writing for 3 minutes if you want to stop after 3 minutes that's absolutely fine you get to do that and basically the science behind this is the reason that we procrastinate is the friction to actually starting the task because we get so in our head about doing it once you've done the 3 minutes you're actually way more likely to continue doing it and this is a proven fact honestly look it up another way to do this is by prioritizing your most important tasks a lot of us procrastinate by just doing the easy easier stuff but if you make a list of everything and you know okay these are really of high importance this is going to help me learn faster just do 1 hour of that rather than procrastinating by doing a bunch of little mediocre tasks throughout the day and putting off the big thing that would actually gotten you closer towards your goal so when I was studying I had three high priority tasks that I could complete by midday and then have the rest of the day on my weekend to myself by the time you have achieved those three things in the beginning of your day you're going to feel so accomplished your self-esteem is going to be so high and you're going to be in such a flow state that you you will end up doing all the other things you want to do anyway the next step is learning how to use reward systems in your favor now there are plenty of psychological studies that show that we condition our brains and therefore our behavioral patterns based on the consequences that follow every action that we do this is why you saying I'm going to study and then you pick up a new scroll on your phone is so dangerous because yes you're procrastinating and you're not getting your work done but on top of that you are conditioning your brain that every single time you start studying you want to reach for your phone that is is now an automatic response and habit Loop in your mind if instead you set out and instead of complaining about the fact that oh I have to study because it's so tedious you say I want to study because I have a reward that I get only if I complete this you are more likely to follow through on the task every single time you say you do it it could be seeing your friends and you have to make it a consequence like if you don't read the chapter that you were supposed to you can't see your friends it could be watching TV it could be scrolling to your heart's desires all night long next up I'm going to quickly share some of my favorite studying tool tools that I use so one thing that links into the 3 minute rule like I said before is something called Pomodoro Timer Google it it's a free timer and basically this is when you work in 20 minute sections with then a 5 minute break after every single one it's so simple and yet it's the most popular productivity method out there then we have calendar now I use my Apple calendar on my MacBook but Google Calendar works just as Great Notion is another thing which is absolutely amazing and I use this all throughout University this is a built-in calendar within it then you also have this entire workspace where you can plan out everything from assessments to-do list checklists budgeting everything all in one place so that you can get your organization done and then lastly an amazing tool called paperlike romanticizing studying is my favorite study hack when it comes to being consistent and we already know the benefits of being consistent when it comes to getting better grades in school the reason that we procrastinate and we struggle to stay consistent and study every single day is because we have this image in our mind that studying is boring studying is going to be so enjoyable so draining so tedious so difficult and it's up to us to change our perception of it so that we come home from school every single day excited to study and I know that sounds crazy okay I know but believe me when I say I influenced myself to think that way in school and that's what took me from consistently getting seized for years to finishing as a straight A student I actually got addicted to the process of studying and this was by implementing a few things in my routine to make it more enjoyable and paper like is something that you guys can use to do this for yourself paper like is a screen protector that you put on your iPad to make writing on it feel exactly like paper it has minimal noise sensory feedback improved resistance and minimal distortions so that making notes has never been more satisfying I went through the biggest mistake in my first year of University which was trying to make notes on my iPad because all the other kids were doing it and I used to literally sit in lectures and look at how people's notes were so fancy and I thought that's so convenient cuz you can take it with you anywhere you go it looks so much more fun than writing on paper but I just could not figure it out so I was carrying around all of these papers with me every single day and then I lost some of them and water spilled in my bag so then I had to just switch to my laptop and it was a very frustrating experience there's such a challenge of staying organized especially when you're a student balancing all of these different subjects and paperlike helps you fix this you can plan everything out on your iPad you'll have all of your notes accessible to you digitally wherever you go whenever you go there just like I said with my flash cards so how does this work well in paper like 2.1 the Nano dots layer is spread out more evenly to minimize any refractions when you're writing there are new material composits that allow for the most accurate distribution of Nano dos technology today as a result of the new Composites used to make the screen protector paper like 2.1 is more transparent so it's easier to see what you're working on while writing and drawing I honestly wish I had this tool when I was studying because it makes the process of writing notes so much more fun so much more enjoyable and it helps with doing your diagrams doing your mind maps and having it all in one place which will help you not only romanticize your studying but also help you with your consistency which then allows you to get 1% better every single day because you're more likely to want to open up the iPad to get it started which once again links back into the 3 minute rule this is a great time to try out Pac for yourself because they are offering a free digital Pro planner all throughout January with any Purchase made on their website paper like is perfectly tailored toward the iPad and this is going to be your best friend when it comes to organizing and achieving all of your study goals you can get your own using the link in my description and since we're on the topic of romanticizing studying and wanted to share with you guys a few more things that I used to do that helped me massively one thing I still do to this day when I'm trying to get work done and this is Cafe hopping so you need to get out of your school you need to get out of your bedroom because there are so many distractions you need to change your environment and your stimuli so you can go to a hotel lobby you can go to your local library but in my case I go to cafes and my technique with this is to change cafes per every task that is completed or every 2 to 3 hours basically what this means is because you're changing your environment a couple of times throughout the day with every new task you're picking up it minimizes how long it feels like you've been studying which helps you study for longer another thing that helped me was changing my perception of studying and actually trying to be more grateful for where I am at that point in my life like I said I was never naturally academically gifted and studying is not my passion okay it never has been never will be but at that point in my life it was my responsibility to make it feel like it was so I created a Pinterest board that romanticized parts of studying that I hated you know having piles of papers being in the library studying for hours on end typing up essays having a deadline pictures of essays with the grade A on it and I would look at this every single time I would read it studying because it encouraged me to start anyway because I was kind of chasing the look of that lifestyle Tik Tok is another really good thing there are so many people that make romanticizing like mini study Vlogs that you should be following and watching every single day this links into having an identity shift which is such an important part of forming a new habit you can't keep saying to yourself I don't like studying I'm not good at this I won't be able to get good grades I always procrastinate the more that you say that the more you are manifesting that reality for yourself you need to identify as the type of student that loves to study that can do it with ease that would never procrastinate because ew what an i why the hell would I be on this thing no I'm taking my future into my hands and I am going to be in the deepest Flow State and then I can do whatever the hell I want afterwards because I have enough self- resect that I can build up a little bit of discipline to just get through 3 hours of studying seriously now let's talk about the importance of accountability one thing I used to do was keep a digital diary so I would personally use Snapchat this was before I was doing social media as a career guys I would like record myself at the end of every single day talking about what I studied and I had this whole Bank of videos where at the end of every single day I kind of had to tell myself what I achieved and what I did and because I was kind of like on this streak of doing really really good it encouraged me to keep that going because I knew at the end of the day I had to kind of keep a record of what I had done and it would be embarrassing if I was about to record a video and say yeah I stayed in bed all day and I squ on my phone like no another thing you can do is have an accountability partner oh my God in school shout out to this girl she is so sweet this girl was a straight A student her entire family went to Cambridge University and she was on her way there as well I was like not even near her level in comparison because like I said I was a straight SE student we were just friends because we had other similar interests but just by associating myself with her just by naturally having conversations and like her casually talking about the studying she's going to do on the weekend pushed me so much harder because the people that you surround yourself with are going to influence the actions that you set out to do every single day another really cool thing you can do is to stay off your phone recorded time lapse of you studying to see how long you can last in doing it you physically won't be able to go on your phone because you're also in a bet with yourself to see how long you can get this video to be you know like get the sun setting in the background and that's cool right and then that links into to also if you want to have a side hustle in school why don't you set up a study page that in itself is accountability and you can post what you've been studying you can post these time lapses and the progress you're making every single day that way you get a side hustle and an accountability partner in one but also while we're on the topic of phones if you don't have the discipline to be able to shut this down and like keep it under your pillow or give it to your friend or your parent for a few hours while you study then honestly I don't know if you like that is a you problem stop trying to imagine what the best staying off my phone hacks are it's literally your ability to shut it off and then keep it out of your reach it's as simple as that and you were going to be so bored out of your mind at the fact that you can't scroll that it's going to get you to start studying trust me and this links into your rou now we know the importance of rewards and if you've shut your phone down and you've given it away to someone you're going to be so desperate to have access to it back you're going to push yourself to get your studying done so fast so that you get it back right and other things that you can Implement in your routine when you're creating your ultimate study schedule is exercise this was something I did not do and then as soon as I implemented it my grades went up and I was wondering why right and I think structure in your day is really important because it influences the type of person you are and it also builds up your discipline in all areas of your life which is why it's important also it's going to help your happy hormones come out meaning you're going to be more capable of studying and on top of that there are multiple studies that have shown just 20 minutes of exercise increases brain activity meaning you're going to study at a better level anyway this also links into the food you consume and honestly just the lifestyle that you live when you're having a study break go out and stand under the Sun so you can get a little bit more dopamine the worst habit I had was that while I was studying I would be eating chocolate or sweets because I needed that little bit of comfort and like a reward while I was doing it all of that sugar is causing you to crash I tell you the amount of times that I fell asleep with my head literally on my desk getting nothing done chapter three creating the perfect mindset so that you can get the best grades this is going to be a quick one but I just want to make sure that you guys are actually approaching this with the right mindset first off I want to talk about the importance of comparison now this is a very dangerous tool but when it is used correctly oh my God is it going to get you ahead the worst thing that you can do for yourself is fall into the habit of asking your friends at school if they studied or not or if they're going to cramp for the test because you know you're asking that because if they turn around and say no I didn't study either then you have that comfort you have that reassurance and ease that okay it's fine that I didn't study because they didn't I'm sorry why are you even associating with these people that don't even have that level of self-respect and discipline that they won't study to do something better for their future s you should not even be talking to them and comparing your routine to them let me ask you this do you want their life do you want the results and their lifestyle that they're chasing after no so why are you trying to replicate the same actions that they set out to do every single day this is where you can use comparison to your advantage and you need to start consuming like I said YouTubers who are straight A students who come home every single day and they do their studying by watching shows like the Gilmore gills if you haven't watched that there is a character in that show who studies every single day she loves to do it she takes her education so seriously and anytime I watched that it inspired me and it made me feel more grateful for my student lifestyle and pushed me to go harder because if all you can see is a bunch of low effort people you're going to become one of them next up let's talk about motiv Mo a now we already know this is fleeting but there are a few ways that you can create this for yourself at this point in my life I actually have a folder in my Tik Tok and in my Pinterest of motivational quotes that I can quickly look at and consume on days where I'm feeling very low energy that was me doing myself a favor for future days where I knew I was going to have low energy but one thing that really got me through University when I was doing a dissertation and that I was just up to my neck in work was visualization of course every single time I was going to study I just wanted to scroll and give up but instead I started imagining okay if I study now then I can get an A in this subject then what is the lifestyle I'm going to get as a result of the a who is the person that I'm going to become from doing this study session right now it's going to increase my confidence it's going to increase my discipline it's going to increase my ability to be able to sit down for longer periods of time and study the picture is so much bigger than you're making it out to be so you need to start reminding yourself of your future self what would they be thinking if they were looking at you right now is every action you're doing aligning to how they would be living at the end of the day you can do what whatever the hell you want but just remember your lifestyle is going to be a result of the actions that you're setting out to do every single day remember that so while you're over there playing video games and I'm studying for an extra 2 hours guess who's going to be more successful exactly now let's talk about the most important thing which is mastering discipline this automatically trumps motivation okay that doesn't even matter discipline is not as complicated as everyone makes it out to be the key to mastering discipline is by getting addicted to discomfort and this can be in any single area of your life for example if you're not a gym person and you start going every single morning you're going to build up this tolerance and this strength in your mind that you can then apply to other areas of your life such as studying the thing that separates the 99% of students to the top 1% is that the 1% know it's their responsibility to craft their mindset to their favor the 99% don't do that they just focus on what they've been given and if they don't feel motivated that day then they just don't study so not only should your priority every day be studying but it should be every single dat set yourself a challenge to complete and I know it's going to feel so uncomfortable and of course you're not going to want to do it but you need to remind yourself of the ultimate reward you're going to get which is a stronger Unstoppable mindset that you will be able to use for the rest of your life to become an unrecognizable disciplined powerful and successful person so these can be things like studying for an extra hour going to the library to study on days that you feel tired tackling a subject that you're struggling with signing up to tuition doing an extra practice paper or it can be other things in your life like talking to a new person at school like going to the gym like reading a book if you're not a big reader and lastly chapter number four the homework chapter if you're new here this is a chapter at the end of most of my videos where I'm going to sum up everything I said and give you actionable steps so that you can start achieving them today step number one take the free online 2-minute Quick Test to figure out what type of learner you are using the link in my description and then form your study strategy according to the results that you get and then remember to link this into different techniques for different subjects depending on what they're asking of you so P papers active recall mind maps flashcards teaching it to someone else blurting Etc hel task number two invest in your equipment because ultimately you are investing in yourself get the colored markers get the colored paper get the flash cards Buy the iPad buy the screen protector this is such an important part of your life and you shouldn't be afraid to get the tools that are going to help you romanticize and enjoy the experience because it's the enjoyment that will help you get up every single day and start in the first place it's about reducing the friction between leaving your bed to getting up and opening up your laptop or your iPad or your notebook task number three create your ultimate study schedule completely personal to you but remember to time block everything in your day and remember to implement rewards at some point in the day for me it was always evenings use timers to your advantage you should know that your morning routine is going to last 15 to 20 minutes and you should challenge yourself to get it done within those 20 minutes every single day rather than just walking around scrolling on your phone and then also remember to implement Advanced deadlines just like we discussed the next homework task is to make a set of flash cards for at least one class and just keep them on you always so that you can practice active recall this can be actually written down on flashcards or by using the quizzler app or the anky app and the last homework task is to do some sort of favors for your future self today you need to be prepared for the days that you're not going to have the energy and you're not going to have the motivation and make sure that that future version of yourself is going to get up regardless have the Pinterest board that romanticizes a studying lifestyle have a motivational quote as your wallpaper have a saved Bank of your digital progress where you record what you did that day so that your future self can look back on them create multiple routines that work for you on days that you're going to have different energy levels so that you don't automatically resort to just resting all day but instead doing something that gets you further towards your goal while still honoring what your body needs and that brings us to the end of this video I hope you guys enjoyed it just a quick note I just want you to remember you have the rest of your life the rest of your life to achieve and become exactly who you want to be so I don't want you to put all of this pressure on yourself and get so addicted to academic validation and think that your grades Define you because I promise you they do not the purpose of this video was just to to motivate you to do your best and try to reach your potential but this is not the be all and end all and hey just the fact that you are
