Back Waxing Techniques
Introduction
- Back waxing can be done for both males and females.
- Important to check the direction of hair growth, as it varies:
- Sides can grow up or down.
- Center along the spine can grow up or down.
- Upper shoulders towards the neckline grow in different directions.
Hair Growth Analysis
- Conduct a hair growth analysis before applying wax.
- Choose the appropriate wax:
- Hard Wax: For thick, coarse hair.
- Strip Wax: For fine, thin hair.
Hard Wax Technique
- Begin in areas with less hair growth to more easily manage patches.
- Starting Point: Start from the bottom, moving upwards.
- Apply multiple patches at once for efficiency.
- Work bilaterally (same action on both sides of the body).
- Sensitive areas, especially around nerve endings, require temperature checks.
- Apply long patches in sensitive areas.
- Hard wax is effective over skeletal muscle structures due to its ability to mold into indentations.
- Shoulders: Avoid going into the arms too much, as arm hair is treated differently.
- Blending: Use a stipple effect to blend hair into shoulder areas to avoid a "sleeve look."
Strip Wax Technique
- Apply a full application to the whole back, using a thin layer.
- Always remove wax in the direction of hair growth.
- Stand on the opposite side of the client's body when removing wax.
- Cleaning Up: Remove any excess wax, focus on edges and blend into shoulders.
Aftercare
- Apply soothing cream after completing the waxing session.
Additional Tips
- Always soothe the skin after removing wax.
- Ensure no excess hair or wax is left on the body.
These notes aim to provide a clear guide on performing a back wax efficiently and painlessly, ensuring a smooth finish.
