Okay, I got a problem with this. This is not my type of thing. But okay, so I get the gist of what it is, but I'll make an attempt.
But I'm just telling you, if somebody were to send me something like this, I would say, no, this is not me. Hi, Dennis Chambers here. Just want to give you a little insight on my learning curve, or the process of what I do when I first hear a song for the first time.
I sit and listen to it first, dissect it, and then try to play it. The artist is Tool, and the song is called Kism? Schism.
The band is Tool, the song is Schism. Schism, Schism. The song is called Schism, and the group's called Tool.
We send to love our souls and emotions Celebrating as it goes Testing our communication The light in the world of fire That is burning out Between us so Can I say to each other Crippled in our Communication Okay, I got a problem with this. This is not my type of thing. Uh-huh, okay, alright. See, in my younger days, this would be right up my goddamn alley here.
That's a great song, man. I gotta get that. Which album is that off of? So, okay.
Listening to this for the first time, the first thing I listen for is the style. The second thing I listen to is the time signature, just like anybody else. This song seems like it's drifting in and out of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven. So six, seven. And then in the bridge, it drifts into one, two, three, four, five, one, two, three, four, five, four, and six, if I remember correctly.
So it's just to catch those two things. and bring them together and try to play the song. Also listening to what the bass is doing, which I'm not sure if I, I mean I know there's bass there, I just couldn't hear it too well.
Just wanna put the exclaimer in there, okay? This is not my cup of tea of doing this. So I'm gonna give it a shot.

communication I know the pieces hit as I watched them tumble down No fault to blame Doesn't mean I don't deserve To break the figure, break the other Watch the temple, top or lower To bring the pieces back together We discover communication He says, I, I'm a chag, I'm done, I'm done Enough to know the dangers of a second guessing Doomed to crumble the last we grow Threaten our communication No way! That was my first attempt. Playing that song and I noticed at the end It had some some figures that was going down But since I don't have isolated tracks to hear what's going on I just played whatever I felt over that and I'm quite sure it was wrong, but it felt great to me So hopefully you enjoyed that incredible performance from Dennis Chambers I know I never thought I would ever see Dennis playing a tool song, but there you go It happened now if you want to learn schism for yourself.
