Job Search Tips for Singapore Success

hi everyone welcome to my very first sit down chat video today I'll be sharing my personal journey of how I successfully landed a job in Singapore as a foreigner specifically as an Indonesian throughout my journey I have acquired available lessons that I'll be sharing with you based on my own experience but before we dive in let me provide you with a brief background about myself I'm Vania a 21 year old from Indonesia who person an education degree majoring in accounting and Finance in Malaysia currently I hold an s-pass and work as an auditor in Singapore I chose Singapore as my work destination for several reasons firstly it is renowned for its safety and offers excellent career opportunities additionally the attractive salary packages and cultural diversity were also significant factors in my decision securing a job in Singapore greatly depends on the industry that you are targeting in my case I applied for an auditor position which is in high demand truth to be told it is not easy for foreigners to get a job in Singapore due to the competitiveness of the job market with that being said it is also not impossible so without further Ado let's explore the tips that can help you in securing a job in Singapore first is to craft an appealing resume this is a crucial step when applying for jobs in Singapore although I'm not an expert in resume writing but I can offer some recommendations based on my own experience firstly it is so important to use an ATS brand name format and ATS is commonly used by employers to manage and filter incoming resumes by using an its friendly format you can increase the chances of your resume being recognized and selected by the system secondly tailor your resume to each job and Company you apply to highlight relevant skills achievements and experience that align with the specific job requirements and Company culture this shows your employers that you have taken the time to understand their needs and have the qualifications that they are looking for feel free to pause the video and take a look at the resume example I provided on the right however please note that resume formats and styles can vary so it's important to adapt them to your own circumstances and preferences remember your resume serves as your first impression to potential employers so make sure it stands out and effectively showcases your qualifications and suitability for the job second tip is to apply jobs through various job portals to initiate your job search I highly recommend exploring a variety of job portals such as job Street LinkedIn and indeed from my personal experience job Street has proven to be an invaluable resource offering a plethora of job opportunities it is advisable to be proactive and submit multiple applications to increase your chances of success personally I have submitted over 40 applications and secured 10 interview opportunities by adopting this approach if you're searching for an entry-level job position don't forget to key in the entry-level keyword after entering your preferred job positioned this will enable the job portal to generate more accurate results for entry-level job positions it is important to note that foreigners seeking employment in Singapore must possess a valid working pass such as an employment pass or as pass an EP is commonly used for foreign skilled professionals managers and Executives working in Singapore while s-pass is available for skilled workers or semi-skilled workers currently the number of spouse holders a company can employ is restricted by a quota constituting 10 percent of the total number of local employees additionally companies are required to pay a monthly Levy for these foreign workers meeting the eligibility criteria for s-pass can improve challenging particularly for fresh graduates and individuals with limited work experience like myself however if you have just a working experience a good University degree professional qualifications and specialized skills the company might be able to sponsor you an employment pass unlike the s-pass there's no quota for the employment pass which means companies can employ foreigners who achieve the aforementioned requirements and they can earn at least 5 000 Singapore dollar you can also assess your eligibility for an s-pass or an employment Pass based on the provided information such as salary educational qualification and working experience through the self-assessment tool launched by the ministry of Manpower it is important to bear in mind that the SAT does not guarantee the outcome of your application as there are additional criteria such as your employer's quota for as pass your personal history and undisclosed factors assessed by the fom so in my case I'm eligible for an S Plus mainly because my employer has the necessary quota to apply for it and I maintain a clean record in Singapore with no involvement in any illicit activities so if you manage to get a working pass here in Singapore consider yourself lucky do keep in mind that the requirements for s-pass and employment paths are subject to change every year for further information regarding the working passes in Singapore you can visit the mom website which I have provided in the description box below moving on to the third tip is to apply broadly and be persistent cast a wide net and apply as many jobs as possible that align with your interests even if you don't meet all the listed requirements probably have spotted the perfect job advertisement that you would love to apply for only to realize that you don't quite match all the stated job requirements for instance some job listings May specify one to two years of working experience professional certifications or either specialization in certain software for an entry-level position however it is important to know that the job requirements such as having many years of experience or even specialization in certain software can be considered desirable rather than mandatory their skills can often be acquired or developed over time as you gain experience in your chosen field in essence do not be discouraged and just apply anyway there's no harm in giving it a shot the fourth tip is to always be prepared for the interview before the interview begins it is always beneficial to conduct a research of the company search for commonly asked questions and prepare your answers in advance one strategy I often employ is to prepare a list of questions and answer also it is very important to project confidence during the interview and respond to all questions asked even if you're unsure about your answer the interview is a two-way process and posing questions to the employers not only helps you to gather information but also demonstrates your enthusiasm for the position one questions I frequently Asked is May I know if you have any concerns regarding my candidacy this showcases your openness to feedback and provides you the opportunity to address any concerns or doubts that the interviewer might have overall thorough preparation confident communication and active engagement in the interview process can greatly enhance your chances of success moving on to the fifth tip is to optimize your LinkedIn profile many individuals underestimate the significance of creating a strong LinkedIn profile establishing a professional presence on LinkedIn can significantly contribute in securing your dream job it is important to create a compelling profile that highlights your skills experiences and accomplishments actively engaging with Professionals in your design industry and directly reaching out to inquire about the job openings can be fruitful as well one effective approach is to contact the hiring managers of the companies that you're interested in working for and express your interest through a well-crafted message I have personally received job interview opportunities on LinkedIn with the hiring manager reaching out to me directly I believe LinkedIn serves as a powerful networking platform that can help you to expand your professional networks so investing time and effort into building a strong presence on LinkedIn can be highly advantageous for you and also for your future career Prospect the last step is to stay consistent and always pray consistently apply three to five jobs per day is an excellent tip that I would like to share with all of you by maintaining this level of daily jobs applications you can increase your chances of finding the suitable job opportunities securing a job in Singapore can be challenging and you may encounter numerous obstacles along the way however it is crucial to not let rejections discourage you or make you give up remember each rejections brings you closer to the right opportunity during my job application process I faced several rejections primarily due to the companies being unable to apply for a working Visa on my behalf these rejections were disheartening and at times I began to doubt my Prospect however I chose to persevere applied for as many jobs as possible and eventually I found the right fit for me I also want to emphasize the significant role that prayer played in my journey when combined with Hardware prayer can increase your chances of achieving your dreams so that concludes the tips and insights on how I managed to get a job in Singapore I hope you find this video helpful and if you have any questions please feel free to drop them Below in the comment section I
